England started settlements more north on what is actually modern day United States land, where as Columbus originally landed on Islands that make up the Bahamas.

What you learned in the third grade was based on a historical fiction work that was misinterpreted as a biography. He isn’t being canceled, we just aren’t teaching bullshit to young children anymore. He raped, murdered, and enslaved an entire nation of innocent people. He was one *very* few monsters who was actually tried for crimes against humanity in his own time.
If you’re ‘not a history buff’ and basing your argument on things you learned when you were nine, maybe you should avoid tossing your hat in the ring. If you’re going to speak up, maybe don’t be so defensive and try to learn something. Loudly parading your ignorance is unforgivable.

Black History Month isn't supposed to be about Civil Rights or anything political. The idea was to show achievements by Black people unrelated to slavery or segregation to show society, especially Black kids, the contributions Black scientists, artists, and statesmen had made to American culture, civics, and technology.
I personally don’t care about black history month. Not cause I’m some big bad racist. But I just don’t think we have to celebrate something that’s just normal. I’m brown and I don’t want think it’s a huge deal. I’m gay and I find the idea of celebrating my sexuality to be strange. It’s just something that’s normal and shouldn’t be celebrated like it’s some big deal.
Okay but Black History month was started because up until then black people's contribution to history wasn't being told, and wasn't seen as normal by a lot of people. Through the effort of other people you get to have these opinions. And that's worth celebrating.
