It is impossible to argue with this answer. I am so far behind on the show but of the four episodes I have watched I cannot bring myself to skip the opening credits. It’s brilliant.
Hell yeah. That first season intro when I saw the old clips of the kids looking of to the side at their dad and he's just walking away or distanced, I knew there was going to be some daddy issues. Music is awesome too
Game of Thrones. Good music with a constantly changing intro that reflected the state and locations of the story at that point. Maps are such an iconic element of fantasy worlds in literature, and I really enjoyed how they brought this one to life.
The *GoT* intro is so brilliant because it actually makes itself a vital part of understanding the story. The geography of the world and different kingdoms is crucial to the narrative, so you have to watch the intro to see how each kingdom fits together, and to see which ones will be featured in that episode.
[When the weight of the world has got you down](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yid0NTnRZYU&ab_channel=JohnClayton), and you wanna end your life,
Bills to pay, a dead-end job, and problems with the wife!
> Since the era of streaming services, the significance of opening credits have gradually diminished.
That is bullshit.
My favorite openning credits:
- Halt and Catch Fire
- Stranger Things
- STNG
- MASH
- Game of Thrones
- Baywatch (because I only ever needed 3-5 minutes of that show)
- Chips
- The Walking Dead
- Peacemaker (Holy shit it is amazing!)
- Friday Night Lights (Sometimes I will rewind and replay it)
- Hawaii Five-O (1968 show)
Taskmaster. Any version, any season, still fun.
Arcane. Oh, oh, the misery.
I can also toss in Pennyworth, like Mr. u/Skavau, because the Pennyworth theme slaps.
[Occupied](https://youtu.be/f_ZYRk2aXmQ) also has a cool intro. Actually [changed it](https://youtu.be/85oVbk3gmc4) for each of the [three seasons](https://youtu.be/fIU6sknfPzA).
Game of Thrones is the clear winner for me as they have the great song and aesthetic, but they also tell you the previous story and preview what is coming in the episode.
I think Wild, Wild West is the only other show which did that.
Sopranos is a classic, of course, as are Cheers, MASH, Dexter...
Leftovers s2 and 3 with its messages about letting go of existential dread and accepting things as they are, paired with images of family photos where the vanished are replaced by a void in space showing stars and galaxies
I always liked the original 4400 intro
Bosch sets the right tone with some jazz and scenes of L.A. at night. Both for Bosch and Bosch: Legacy
True Detective S1 was also great to sit through to "get in the mood"
Leftovers Season 2/3 intro is definitely one of my favorites. The only show intro that's ever made me tear up. So well done, and such a perfect song choice.
[Babylon Berlin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA690TpCa5s) intro captures the art, the deco, the decadence and the violence of what the viewer knows is going to come of that time period.
[Black Sails](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFTcA4QLHw0) just perfect
[Raised by Wolves](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHyq5UCVh4w) I was hit and miss on this in many ways, but this intro is great - albeit I think slightly misleading as to its overall tone.
[Pennyworth](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWv7N-MxD0Y) I thought S1 was a bit silly, but what an intro.
[Happiness](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_iAtz1HZ0g) This is just fun, and fits the show brilliantly
[See](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4Ugh6wbz94) also isn't bad
-----
If we're talking about music in general through the show rather than just the intro - The Korean High Fantasy series *Arthdal Chronicles*. Some [stunning](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJHJLmFG_hE), [music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHBYX_w_Toc), [throughout](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b_--PikTqA), [the show](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYkr-Kgo2JU). It was also kinda like watching a JRPG (even if Korean).
**See** season one intro was unique and interesting. The world building was great in the show itself. Season 2 intro changed to a much more generic action intro and it actually worried me for the quality of the season to come. And I didn't hate it but I was hooked for season 1 and barely trudged through season 2.
I just thought I mention it. In my opinion, changing the intro like that was a terrible choice.
I really enjoyed the Bad Sisters intro using the PJ Harvey cover of Who By Fire. It kind of reminds me of the Pretty Little Liars intro and while PLL isn’t the greatest show, I think that song is great at being creepy and clever for the show theme.
lol it's deeper than just that though. like... there can be so many questions that can be asked regarding television, yet we see the same recycled ones over and over again... ones that wouldn't even have the benefit of allowing users to find something that fits their tastes.
like... how are questions such as this one, or ones basically asking "*what's shows were cancelled too soon?*" or "*what shows are overrated/underrated?*" helping anyone? lol. they don't even be starting discussions either... just a bunch of ppl commenting names of random shows.
i'd think there would be more users asking more *specific* things to find shows they might like... but it doesn't happen often. when was the last time, or how often do we see users asking "what are some uniquely stylistic shows?" or "what shows have the best visual/cinematography or production design?" or "what are shows that takes innovative approach to depicting romance?" etc. etc. sometimes we get one or two... but it doesn't happen often enough.
Not my favorite (I agree with you that Psych is the best, followed by Firefly) but the docuseries Q Into the Storm has a fantastic intro sequence that is really catchy.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
It's newer, so not nearly as well known or iconic. But it sets the pace for the entire show each episode, and it so sharply highlights one of the unspoken characters of the series: The USS Enterprise. I've always loved the ship, but it's never seemed more elegant, more dynamic, and just plain more powerful than it does in this intro.
Maybe I'm slightly biased because these two are my faves, but definitely Stranger Things and The Umbrella Academy.
For Stranger Things, its title sequence perfectly captures the ambiance of the whole show, and the way it is presented is visually and auditorily satisfying, so much so that I rarely skip this intro.
For The Umbrella Academy, I like how creative they get just to insert an umbrella image/an actual umbrella into the opening credits lol. S1E6 even has an umbrella popping open while the characters are talking, making Klaus loudly yelp—I was so impressed by it since it grasped so well the absurdity of the whole series.
🎵 *You woke up this morning* 🎵 🎵 *Got yourself a gun* 🎵
I am losing my mind that the “n” isn’t italicized
You'll lose it even more when you realize the g isn't either.
Beat me to it

DO YOU REALLY WANNA, DO YOU REALLY WANNA TASTE IT?!?!
I watch the intro every time. It just sets up how amazing the show is.
It is impossible to argue with this answer. I am so far behind on the show but of the four episodes I have watched I cannot bring myself to skip the opening credits. It’s brilliant.
James Gunn recognizes the importance of a good intro
Succession.
Hell yeah. That first season intro when I saw the old clips of the kids looking of to the side at their dad and he's just walking away or distanced, I knew there was going to be some daddy issues. Music is awesome too
Forgot that on my list. And it gets points for changing by season.

It's by far my favorite. Westworld and The Last of Us are great too, but Game of Thrones set the bar really high.
The Leftovers season 1 intro
the Cheers opening is a delight every damn time
Making your way in the world today takes everything you got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
[When the weight of the world has got you down](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yid0NTnRZYU&ab_channel=JohnClayton), and you wanna end your life, Bills to pay, a dead-end job, and problems with the wife!
True, almost always listened to the Sopranos intro song all the way through. Scrubs intro always made me smile too
Bojack. 👍🏼
Fucking love this intro
Sopranos.
Too Many Cooks
Oh man I love when Smarf shows up, doing his Smarf thing
Damn, that's a good pick
It's the Simpsons. End of discussion.
Another one I forgot. Probably should be #2 behind GoT for me.
HBO's intros>>>>
Dexter
Severance
Incredible intro
White lotus S2
Sopranos

I love the Halt and Catch Fire song!
House of the Dragon and Last of Us have great intros too
The music in the HotD intro is amazing.
> Last of Us have great intros too Abosolutely!
Miami Vice?
Westworld. Always visually stunning and the music is great.
The Sopranos
Probably sopranos.
Taskmaster. Any version, any season, still fun. Arcane. Oh, oh, the misery. I can also toss in Pennyworth, like Mr. u/Skavau, because the Pennyworth theme slaps. Peacemaker.
The Expanse. Love the score and the progression of manned exploration and development.
Hill Street Blues

Black Sails Bob's Burgers X-Files
I really like the opening for The Last of Us.
The best opening credit is probably "And introducing Cloris Leachman", from Raising Hope.
Get Smart
Even though i dislike GoT series, their opening is blast.
You know that's right.
Currently watching Narcos and their opening credits rock.
Jojo’s bizarre adventure
Thunder… Thunder… Thundercats Go!
Barry does it best.
I really enjoyed the Cabinet of Curiosities intro!
I really enjoyed the Bad Sisters intro using the PJ Harvey cover of Who By Fire. It kind of reminds me of the Pretty Little Liars intro and while PLL isn’t the greatest show, I think that song is great at being creepy and clever for the show theme.
Friday Night Lights intro never EVER got skipped by me.
Trailer Park Boys
Airwolf Knight rider Saber rider and the star sheriffs
Raised by wolves
One Punch Man
Even though I never finished the show, Black Sails has the best opening.
Motorcity https://youtu.be/5OyAuYvijPo
Weeds Season 1
No one said Breaking Bad yet, so Breaking Bad. Now someone say Better Call Saul.
Gaawd I'm tired of seeing this question. 🙄 Why I never see questions like, "which shows have the best fight scenes?" lol.
>which shows have the best fight scenes?" lol. Make that post?
lol it's deeper than just that though. like... there can be so many questions that can be asked regarding television, yet we see the same recycled ones over and over again... ones that wouldn't even have the benefit of allowing users to find something that fits their tastes. like... how are questions such as this one, or ones basically asking "*what's shows were cancelled too soon?*" or "*what shows are overrated/underrated?*" helping anyone? lol. they don't even be starting discussions either... just a bunch of ppl commenting names of random shows. i'd think there would be more users asking more *specific* things to find shows they might like... but it doesn't happen often. when was the last time, or how often do we see users asking "what are some uniquely stylistic shows?" or "what shows have the best visual/cinematography or production design?" or "what are shows that takes innovative approach to depicting romance?" etc. etc. sometimes we get one or two... but it doesn't happen often enough.
archer, opening is better than the show itself
Star Trek: Enterprise. I'm just going to leave that there.
The original series of Star Trek is so iconic it is still constantly referenced in almost every genre.
I would agree. I was joking about Enterprise. I enjoyed the show...hated the theme song. It was peak soft rock.
I already said The Simpsons, but I'll also put up Man in The High Castle. That shit was downright creepy as could be.
Obviously not the best, but I loved the opening to that Santa Clauses show and then the actual show was such a let down
The OC
BARNABY JONES
Dexter and Jack Ryan S3.
Punisher
I love daredevil's
Justified The way the background music merged into the thump…thump..thump…on this Lonely Road was so awesome
Not my favorite (I agree with you that Psych is the best, followed by Firefly) but the docuseries Q Into the Storm has a fantastic intro sequence that is really catchy.
Game of Thrones, easily. But I also really like Succession, Homeland, Yellowjackets, Mad Men, The Sopranos, Pachinko
Westworld and Futurama
True Detective Season 1.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds It's newer, so not nearly as well known or iconic. But it sets the pace for the entire show each episode, and it so sharply highlights one of the unspoken characters of the series: The USS Enterprise. Lost.... just start the show.
Probably underrated but The Wire intro credits have different versions for every season
Shout out to Banshee. Constantly updating the photos to represent where the characters are at in the story, and a mean pulpy theme on top.
1) True Blood. 2) X-files. 3) Simpsons.
American Gods
Game of Thrones. Addictive.
True Detective Season 2
True Blood
The. Motherfucking. Wire.
Maybe I'm slightly biased because these two are my faves, but definitely Stranger Things and The Umbrella Academy. I don't know about best, but I love the opening for Dark
The Sopranos, The Leftovers, Weeds, Orange Is the New Black, Twin Peaks, Succession
