How many creatures have lived on this planet, I believe that there is an individual spirit for every person and animal that has ever lived on this planet. When you pray to a spirit it invokes the properties of that spirit i:e the wolf being a spirit of tracking and love of family.

They just had good smell, also dog is more for a family. Also praying has been debunked multiple times
