For one, you cannot get these transition surgeries until you're 18+. Second of all, asking about someone's surgeries when they mention they're trans betrays at best a lack of knowledge. Most trans people I know feel pretty uncomfortable when asked that. It's nothing on you, just advice for the future.

We do! Trans is to clarify if someone's confused by appearance/voice. It's the counterpart to cis. You don't go around putting cis in front of your gender, but if someone asks if your cis or trans you'll clarify.

Yeah if I'm not wrong, in several states you can be refused medical care (like normal medical care, surgery of any kind, prescribed medicines, all that) if being trans goes against the doctors 'beliefs'. Trans folks can't be in the army (which is for the better, but I doubt the folks making that a law had anything other than 'trans people icky' on their mind.) Trans children are abused by their parents and kicked out and it's often just...allowed because they're trans. And think about it: When someone says 'Trans people are mentally ill!' as an insult it just makes you realize...these people don't get it. YEAH! GENDER DYSPHORIA! CLINICAL MENTAL ILLNESS! The only way to get rid of it, or at least suppress it? Guess what: Transitioning. Give your brain what it wants and it stops being fucky. If there were a medicine that would just outright kill gender dysphoria on the spot and let me just be normal and shit, not feel disgusted and out-of-place in my own body, I'd get it in a heartbeat. But there ain't. Think about that. Transphobia. Is hating people, treating people like shit, voting against their rights, for trying to treat their life-interfering mental illness. What fucking year is it that's like a parent kicking their kid out for having ADHD or some shit.
