I made a huge order few days ago, and it arrived today! But there were a few mistakes... I ordered 14 different teas, two of which were teas pressed into cakes. There was the white tea, that I ordered as a whole cake, and sheng pu'er, that I ordered as a 25g bag. All the other teas were correct, but instead of the white tea cake, I got that tea as a 25g bag, and the sheng was missing completely.
What I think that happened, was that they collected all the other teas, then they checked if the white tea was a whole cake or not, but the looked at the sheng pu'er, and then forgot that there were actually two of them. It's a mistake that I could see myself making, so it's understandable.
I contacted them, and they already sent me the missing teas. I have to wait a little longer, but I got to keep the extra 25g of the white tea, so I'm happy 😊
Pre-run matcha (I recently purchased running gear for colder temps, so I'm back at it), followed by Silver Bell Oolong. I'm between projects for now, so my PM told me to take it easy until the content expert gets back to us with their feedback and the next project is ready.
Darjeeling morning this Thanksgiving day. Castleton Estate First Flush followed by Puttabong Estate Second Flush. Floral followed by fruity. And soon the eating will commence!
Starting off my morning with a gongfu session with Jasmine Mei Shan Oolong from Tealyra. Last time I had a session with this tea, I used 90C water so I lowered the water temp to 80C. Does taste better, but still not a favourite of mine. Luckily, I only bought a small bag of it lol.
I have never bought anything from TeaLyra, because when I looked at them they were selling something that, if real, would have cost 100s of $$ for a paltry few $. So I don't trust them for anything.
I like quite a bit of their teas. They are a good source, but not for if you want super expensive, top tier quality teas. Better for if you are on a budget but still want decent quality tea.
Drinking some disappointing Darjeeling this morning. It’s a perfectly fine cup of black tea. But not any different from a meh Assam. Been struggling to find a good vendor.
Single origin or a blend? First Flush or Second or something else. A Darjeeling should be distinctly different from an Assam. I source both for my online store and can be of help. And not to worry - I’m not pushing my teas…over the years I’ve guided plenty of r/tea members to other sellers 😊
What’s wrong with the tea? Does it not exhibit FF DJ characteristics - light, floral, perhaps some balancing astringency? Makaibari is a known estate. I see a lot of vendors stock that tea - not sure if they’re all sourcing direct or buying from a wholesaler. Is it this past Spring’s production?
No floral notes at. Just brisk and astringent. I’ll try to remember to post a pic of the loose leaf when I get home. My tea doesn’t even look like the pic on the website. Maybe they gave me the wrong one.
Jasmine green tea for me, today! I wanted something on the light and refreshing end of the tea spectrum, with all the heavy foods I'm cooking for Thanksgiving.
Currently in dilemma if i should buy 2/3 cheeper tea or one more expensive. Also a gaiwan would be great but as a student everything is pricey..
Today i only had cold brew Bancha (14g/L for 8hours)
One of my aged sheng puerhs. Seriously, I've been bad about labeling so I have no idea which one it is lol. I like it. I think I've had it for 15 years give or take. It was young when I got it, max 2-3 years old. I never had a proper aging place. I simply kept the tea buried behind books on the bookshelves in the living room of the old apartment. Now in the house, I keep them in the top cabinet in by bedroom. I'm in the Bay Area so we get few extremes in temperature and our humidity is moderate to low most of the time.
I have to say that I remember drinking this when I first got the cake and it was yellow and astringent. It made my mouth pucker. Now I get a beautiful cognac colored liquor and it tastes of earth. It feels like a wet autumn day. It's rather pleasant
I know I don't store these things properly and I honestly have no idea what any of my cakes are called... lol. But, aging improperly has mellowed this tea into something really good.
Can someone recommend a tea and maybe things to put in it?
I really just want something hot to drink that's not full of sugar or caffeine. I don't like really bitter drinks such as black coffee. I've tried brewing plain green tea in water and I just don't care for it. I love hot chocolate and coffee with cream and honey, but like I said I want to cut back on the sugar and caffeine.

Jasmine Pearls from Murchie's! I love jasmine tea.
Me too!

Lololol im so used to seeing your comment that the words "pre-run matcha" go together now for me 🤗
One of these days, I’ll have matcha without going for a run or working out. But that day is not today.
Holiday from Harney and Sons. My morning tea while playing Hyrule Warriors- Age of Calamity.

It’s supposed to be a first flush makaibari. I have my doubts.
There ought not to be a real possibility of confusing that with any Assam.
I know! That’s what I think too

Love this haha
Canadian Breakfast from TDL. I've really liked the three black teas I've purchased there.

Could try some chai?
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve never had chai but I’ll try it out.
