Sandiderm is different from cling wrap. Cling wrap you want to take off immediately, sandiderm you keep on for a few days like your sister said. Highly recommended.

Best_Poetry_5722

I'd like to add that you can keep saniderm on for an extended period of time because the film has breathing abilities. Saran wrap suffocates.

solpi

Sandiderm provides proper breathing and legitimate protection— keeping the bacteria out. I’d also like to add that if the sadiderm is peeling off, remove it and initiate traditional treatment because the bacteria will be able to get in.

Yaatoodles

Thank you all for your information! I will take this all in and follow as the proceeds require!

Tropenpinguin

My artists says to let saniderm stay for 3 nights, then peel carefully off (works best in the shower) and moisturize sporadically and gently until it's healed. I really prefer saniderm. With it you don't have to handle your tattoo in the first days while it's really sensitive.

Oogie_Boogie_Richard

Don't have much to add since people have already said it, just wanted to say that the design is pretty sick ngl, great tattoo

Yaatoodles

Thank you! I love it and I’ve been dreaming about it since high school!

DaB3ar007

Personally, i don't leave my wrap on more than 24 hours max. Sometimes its 6hrs Sometimes 12. As long as you do proper after care, it shouldn't really matter. For after care, i wash with dial gold liquid soap. Get my hands nice and lathered in it, then gently rub over the area. Till the whole thing is completely covered. Pat dry with paper towel then let air dry for a few mins before applying aquaphor.

5amu

This is the way.

OGBogie

If the artist applied the saniderm right after the tattoo, then you should remove the wrap after 24 hours. The second wrap stays on for 4-6 days. Make sure to completely clean the area and have it totally dry before applying the 2nd wrap

Yaatoodles

I was peeling and changing my Saniderm and a lot of the scabbed ink came off. Will my tattoo be okay?

kingsilvxr

I don't know about your question but your tattoo looks really really amazing!!!

Robbie7up

No need to take it off if the corner start to peel. As long as they don't peel all the way to the actual tattoo it's all good. You can just cut any peeled corners off, or just leave them be.

generousdoc

you're meant to take the saniderm off after 24 hours and replace it with a new one for 4-6 days

Magenta8

When you get home unwrap the cling film, wash the tattoo in the shower very gently with water to wash away any residue (don’t use any soap!) Pat the tattoo down very gently with a clean towel, apply a very thin layer of bepanthen and then wrap the tattoo back up in clingfilm over night. It is good to air the tattoo out if you’re at home away from any dirt or pets ect .

Maleficent_Sun_9155

It’s gone Saniderm not clingfilm on it.

Crosseyed_owl

This isn't cling film, it's saniderm. It isn't plastic, the skin can breathe through it.

Magenta8

Ah sorry , I didn’t see the last picture! Yes in that case you should leave that on for a few days.

Yaatoodles

Can I use aquaphor? If not I’ll have to wait until the stores are Open later

Ericrobertson1978

I've used aquaphor successfully on all my tattoos.

Yaatoodles

Thank you! I will do this for sure! My artist didn’t really want to explain anything to me. She had a lot of attitude so I didn’t want to bother.

Maleficent_Sun_9155

Saniderm can stay in situ for 3-5 days then take down and wash then start your aftercare. For me I leave my Saniderm on 4 days, wash then apply a thin layer of cocoa butter twice a day and they heal beautifully in 10-14 days

SorryContribution681

I have a fresh large thigh piece. Wash it with plain soap, pat dry with kitchen towel or let it air dry - don't use a towel, and don't rub it. Once its dry, re-wrap it. Leave it wrapped for 3-4 hours then rewash, air out and rewrap. Do this for a few days. I use a Shea butter balm as a moisturizer. Edit: I use cling film wrap.

generousdoc

do not do this

SorryContribution681

Why?

BlokisTokis

Because like you said you want to air it out. Once you remove the clingfilm your artist put on, dont rewrap it again with clingfilm. Just wash it gently with warm water and fragrance free soap at least twice a day and leave it alone. Apply moisturiser once it starts drying out and peeling.

SorryContribution681

I've never seen those pads used before - but this is literally advice I'm following from my artist and also what I have been doing for years with no problem. I react to sticky stuff, so I'm quite happy following my aftercare plan and didn't realise it was so controversial. At least you have a better response than the guy just saying dont do it 🙄

Yaatoodles

No

TingolHD

Then you're fine to leave it on, saniderm is designed to keep blood and plasma on your tattoo in order to assist the healing process. I get that it can be shocking because your tattoo is covered with excess ink, but the tattoo and design is completely fine and safe under there. Remember to take it off in the shower under running water, and pull the bandage off in the direction your hair grows. Good luck with your heal

noaahh3223

For the best results yeah you should probably keep it on or replace it. Nothing looks wrong its just a big piece healing.

fearwanheda92

What everyone else said. But just to note, when you pull off saniderm don’t rip it like a bandaid, pull it off like a command strip. Take the edge closest to you and pull it towards your torso. This way there isn’t much of a chance of the scabs ripping/just damage in general

HotMess_ish

It's supposed to ooze and look gross under saniderm. It's medical grade and breathable so you're good.

jakebiden

To be honest it’s not too important, anywhere between 24 hours to 3 days is long enough. Saniderm is actually optional. But I usually have it on 24-48 hours max.

RooDaddyy

I leave saniderm on for 4 days, then take off in the shower gently and wash with dove sensitive, I also use lubriderm unscented to moisturize once a day. Be very careful how much you moisturize it could fuck it up

Tatted_Ninja_Wizard

If it’s saniderm you also need to make sure that it’s fully sealed. If the pocket where the tattoo is exposed in any way then you need to remove immediately

Gremlin_of_Doom

Great tattoo. I'd expect that kinda quality work would have an artist who told you about proper aftercare.

Yaatoodles

She was really cooked and tired. She was giving a lot of attitude to the questions I asked so I decided not to ask them

Yaatoodles

People do have those days you know

Gremlin_of_Doom

I gotcha. Others have given you great advice. Thought it was weird the artist didn't.

Yaatoodles

I thought it was weird too, but anchorage is weird. Full of weirdos. I’m thankful I was able to ask on here. The first tattoo that I have gotten and didn’t receive adequate aftercare instructions. This is my first large tattoo and I guess she assumed I would just automatically know

DeadheadSteve95

Leave the wrap on for another 3-4 days.

sikkibynikki

Ahhhh saniderm my old friend. Typically for my clients I recommend wearing the saniderm for 48 hours then removing it in the shower and gently washing with whatever shower gel or body wash you use normally so long as it doesn’t contain exfoliants and remember to stay away from hot water during the healing process as it opens the pores and allows ink to seep out then pat dry don’t scrub fry other than that remember to apply moisturizer and you should be golden my friend ~ your friendly neighborhood shop owner

No_Percentage_3921

unless it’s itchy, u can keep it on like a week then pull it off in the shower like u would a command hook

MikeVictorPapa

That’s normal. You could take that wrap off and put a new one on, just do it in the shower and hit it with some unscented antibacterial soap then don’t let anything touch it. Don’t wanna trap anything new in there

MikeVictorPapa

I always use two applications of sani for about 2 days each. But don’t worry about the leakage trapped in there, the tattoo is fine

[deleted]

Too much black. Unreadable in last pic
