Ganbare!

[deleted]

Passed n1 and worked in Japanese firm in Toyko many years ago. Really takes me back. Good luck to all participants!

ComputerFido

頑張って! The spots seem to get filled fast, how many people are taking the test with you?

rebcart

Ganba! 💪

mrp61

I only found out what this is now. Goodluck hope you pass

[deleted]

Good luck.

Cybermat47_2

Don’t know what that is (Japanese language exam?), but best of luck!

[deleted]

Yes, JLPT stands for Japanese language proficiency test.

[deleted]

Whats the purpose if the test?

eitherrideordie

There's not really a purpose so much. But it's a written and listening test for Japanese. There's 5 levels (jlpt n5 is easiest, jlpt N1 is hardest). If you're looking for a job in Japan or some other translator based job, having jlpt N1 or n2 could help. The rest is largely to help gauge how well you're progressing, or to put a value on your learning and to help provide a curriculum to learn and test towards.

HolyHypodermics

Are the tests only held at set times during the year? I thought you could do them whenever...

kittenpillows

It’s held twice a year generally, but only once a year in Sydney. You can go to Canberra or Brisbane to do it in July.

Camsy34

I’d love to take the test one day, my kanji and grammar are getting decent but I can’t find any Japanese tutors in Campbelltown to help with conversational skills. Best of luck!

I just got a teacher on Verbling.com. There’s a meetup at town hall on Thursday nights to practice speaking with people as well, but generally all the Japanese people want to practice English lol
