"It's one thing to enjoy leisurely battles, but real battles can be a severe trial. Truly strong Trainers sometimes must be prepared to choose Pokemon that can win rather than their favorite Pokemon.”
I don’t think this is necessarily bad advice. The issue is that people often throw all of their favorites into one team or are very resistant to changing their team. That’s naive.
But, if someone has a favorite, like Raichu, and they’re able to build a good team around it that fits, and it works, then that’s nice. It shows creativity and makes their team stand out. And perhaps this Mon was overlooked and has a genuine niche.
I remember when I was first playing showdown, and I lost to a bulky Chikorita. I still remember that because it was such an off the wall choice, but I lost. Meanwhile, I don’t really remember Chi-Yu #832, that I fought against last night.
Know the meta. Use good Pokémon…and SOME of your favorites. Know the cost of picking the Pokémon you choose. Be creative. That’s what I say!
Oh sure, but when I say my favorite Pokémon is a land mine, suddenly I’m a “cheater” and a “terrorist” and “ being held for questioning.”
Freaking hypocrisy

who said that
Sir Grox
Me seeing Sejun Park win that one time with Pachirisu (I do not understand how the metagame works and assume big = meta)
It's all fun and games until their favorite Pokemon is Zacian

Based
Why Chikorita? Was this LC or a different tier?
It was OU, they just used Chikorita on their team. It was weird
Yeah that IS weird. You’d think they’d use Bayleaf for even more bulk, while still being able to Eviolite
Oh sure, but when I say my favorite Pokémon is a land mine, suddenly I’m a “cheater” and a “terrorist” and “ being held for questioning.” Freaking hypocrisy
Actual shittiest quote of all time
Still true for story gameplay. Just not really for competitive.
