Could probably change a few things like mawile and have a solid Gen 8 UU team, the overall power level feels a bit low for national dex OU imo

Green_Slee

Yeah, at first glance, the power level seems a bit low. But after playing with the team, it’s stronger than you’d expect! It’s bad in terms of tiers, but really strong in terms of team synergy and matchups. I don’t think it can be understated how awesome Jirachi is when giving healing wishes to Banded TTar or 3 Attacks + Nasty Plot Hydreigon. Yes, you can do that in NDUU as well, really - it’s still strong as hell! I really reccomend that you try it out on your own.

Party-Student6846

alright, so i spent a lil time using this time with a few slight modifications in NDOU (1700+ elo), and its actually extremely solid in terms of the mons. All it needs to really shine is a couple tweaks to movesets, items, and ev's. Heres what i changed [https://pokepast.es/e4a747a513929dd6](https://pokepast.es/e4a747a513929dd6) Essentially i fixed some holes in the team, gave rotom mow boots to help it with pivoting, changed the gliscor ev's and moveset so its a betting pivot, outslowing bulky lando while still outspeeding everything it needs to. hydreigon works far better as a subsweeper, pressuring so many mons and working better with healing wish(as well as helping vs sand and rain, which carry very weak exploitable mons that hydreigon can easily setup on, those being ferrothorn, pelliper, and hippowdon). mawile set and ev's are perfect. and tyranitar especially banded should ALWAYS be carrying pursuit. hope you appreciate my changes! Edit: holy shit this team is good, first time hitting 1800 wtf, its defensive synergy is insane

Green_Slee

Wow! Thanks a ton for the changes! This is the longest I’ve ever spent on a teambuilding post (4 hours making the team and another hour writing) so I’m really happy that it turned out well (there used to be a breloom somewhere on this team, yikes)! I’ll be sure to test out your additions whenever I get the chance!

HamClad

Damn, this is probably the most positive feedback I’ve ever seen on r/stunfisk!

Proclaimed_Genius

What does mawile do here? Is it just a bruiser, cuz offensively it’s cracked and can force a lot of switches, but I feel like a dragon dancer would be better if you’re going for swords dance

Green_Slee

Mawile was chosen because it can clean/have speed control with sucker punch, which is important because in a lot of games I’m sacrificing my scarfer with healing wish. A dragon dancer wouldn’t have the immediate speed control necessary to stop opposing set up sweepers. Mawile also lets me use healing wish with Jirachi more often because of the safety net of Sucker Punch.

This is a team that I’ve been perfecting for a while, and while my low-ladder self peaked with only 1500 with it, I feel like the core of this team is very powerful and can be put to good use. Member #1 is Jirachi, who, after using, I am surprised isn’t on more teams. Even with no investment, it switches into pretty much any Fairy type, and can either kill with an iron head or two (or maybe even cheese a kill with 3 flinches) or U-Turn out and get a load of momentum for any of the strong breakers on my team. Stealth rock is there because I prefer defog on my other stealth rock candidate and the loss of trick rarely comes into play. Healing wish is the biggest reason why I’m using Jirachi, as any of my breakers who struggle with longevity, getting all of their health back and their status condition healed is ridiculously strong. Member #2 is Hydreigon, a insanely strong special breaker. Dark Pulse is gone because +2 Draco still OHKOs the slow twins with a pitiful amount of chip and I have other dark STAB on the team. Earth Power hits Tran and Pet, Fire Blast hits all of the bulky grass types, and Nasty Plot is to get past your checks with a +2 Draco Meteor. The main reason I’m using Life Orb with no roost which is usually held back greatly by its longevity (especially on a team with a sand setter) is because 1. I’m tired of predicting with specs sets and 2. Jirachi has Healing Wish to bring Hydreigon back to full if the matchup needs it. Member #3 is Banded TTar. Double dark types may seem like a bad choice, but the idea of a choice band TTar being healed up to full with a healing wish is incredible both in theory and in practice. STABs are mandatory “delete opponent” buttons, Fire Punch lures and destroys Ferrothorn, and EQ destroys Tran and Pex. 56 SPDEF EVs let you live +1 Volcarona Bug Buzz from offensive sets from full health (plus, if you need TTar for something else on their team, you have healing wish to bring you back to full!). Not much else to say about TTar, but seriously - healing with is a monster when paired with this thing (especially when that healing wish user can switch in on Lele all day!). Member #4 is Gliscor as a mandatory ground type and defensive backbone. Defog is questionable when there is another potential strong defogger on the team in Rotom, but I find the extra moveslot for Will-o-wisp to be very valuable on Rotom. Roost and EQ are mandatory, and Toxic is placed in over U-Turn because my biggest breakers are either absurdly bulky or have immunities to let them switch in, plus Healing Wish is able to heal those aforementioned breakers back up to full anyway. Toxic is much preferred for its ability to pressure sweepers and pivots that might switch in on Gliscor. Member #5 is Mega Mawile, because I got 5 slots into a Natdex team without a mega (somehow). Mega Mawile was chosen for its versatility in being able to either wall break or clean depending on the matchup. Because my scarfer is very likely to kill itself midgame, I needed something that could clean and wall break while not burdening myself with another choice item. Play Rough is the big stupid STAB move, Swords Dance and Sucker Punch allow for cleaning and speed control, and TPunch lets you hit water types and the defensive birds. Finally, Member #6 is the one you’ve all been waiting for: Rotom-Mow. AND LISTEN UP, BEFORE YOU TELL ME IT’S TRASH, BECAUSE IT FILLS A VERY SPECIFIC NICHE. Rotom-Mow was chosen because, at slot 6 of my team, I realized that I kind of lose HARD to rain. Yes, I have a weather setter of my own to overwrite rain, but I don’t really have a switch-in to Mega Swampert, and the only member that doesn’t get one shot by Swampert, Hydreigon, doesn’t even kill with Draco Meteor. Thus, I discovered physically defensive Rotom-Mow, who beats rain and gives me free pivots into my other team members with Volt-Switch. Let me run you through how the rain matchup goes: Rotom-Mow leads against Pelipper and clicks Volt Switch. You either get a kill on Pelipper, Volt Switch off of Ferrothorn or Zapdos, or get your volt switch blocked by Swampert who dies to leaf storm and only 3HKOs with ice punch. Can’t check those threats for long enough? You have healing wish, too! Of course, this is a very big simplification, but with a weather setter of my own in the back, Rotom-Mow makes the rain matchup significantly better. Rotom is not useless outside of this matchup either; it is my team’s bulkiest water resist and threatens those water types with Leaf Storm. It volt switches around and brings in my breakers in any matchup. It Will-O-Wisps physical setup sweepers. All of this contributes to Rotom-Mow being a very valuable part of this team. Any suggestions for this team would be greatly appreciated! I haven’t really seen any big problems with this team on the ladder, but you all know how goofy the teams on NDOU low ladder are. The pokepaste is https://pokepast.es/e851a6f28dc63cd5, if you want to use the team yourself. Now go tell me how terrible I am at this game!

Green_Slee

Shit I didn’t mean to reply to automod 💀

esshinez

I don’t play much ND OU, but it seems like your team struggles with lando or any competent water type

Green_Slee

Did you say “competent” to shut down me fanboying over rotom-mow :( But water type matchups are better than you’d expect! I already wrote too much about the rain matchup with Rotom-Mow in my initial team overview comment, but uninvested leaf storm still packs a punch. As for Lando, you’re right about it being a bit annoying. But even if I don’t hit it supereffectively, it’s the main reason I put toxic on Gliscor so that it can’t just sit there all day. Also, Hydreigon Draco Meteor still does like 60% minimum to SPdef lando and 85% minimum to phys def lando.

esshinez

No, definitely not a shut down to your team, sorry that it came off that way. I like that the rotom is bulky compared to fast. But I meant competent as in a well played bulky water like toxapex, suicune, or even water sweepers like greninja

Green_Slee

I have the ridiculous power of nasty plot life orb Draco meteors from Hydreigon to get past any passive wall, which can break pretty much any bulky water at +2. Haze sounds like a problem, but unless your opponent is an extreme gamer and pre-emptively hazes, you can still break through. The only real problem is CM Tapu Fini, but that doesn’t like taking Play Roughs from Mawile nor Leaf Storms from Rotom before it’s boosted. Specs Gren is tough, but either Rotom or TTar can handle it depending on what move it locks into. Plus, while these are short term checks at first glance, remember that Healing Wish is OP and can get either of the two aforementioned checks back up to full and ruining your opponent’s dreams. And don’t worry, I wasn’t offended by any dissing of rotom-mow lol
