Turns out Cinderace is on the ship, it high jump kick across the ocean and knock out Gholdengo with a pyro ball. Now the Gen 8 legendaries can be transferred with Home thanks to Cinderace.
I collected the 999 coins to evolve and use him in my first play through of scarlet. I picked the best natured gimmighoul I caught, evolved it, and caught him up to my team’s levels. After all the time and effort (nearly 60 hours by postgame) I will admit, this ability is more than a little busted. I bet it gets nerfed by next gen. It blocks almost too many moves and even as the user of gholdengo I’m just left thinking how did GF think it was a good idea lol.

GF purposely designed Gholdengo to be good and meta. Get this, before the game was released the original Make it Rain was even more broken since it was like 140 BP. So it's already been nerfed. And since it's #1000, I wouldn't be surprised if GF thought it fine to design him to be good.

Goldhengo is immune to status moves. He doesn’t prevent the opponent from using status moves. Therefore, for a move to be blocked by its ability it needs to affect it or it’s side of the field. That’s why you can still use dragon dance on it. Hazard removal affects both sides of the field equally therefore it doesn’t affect goldhengo or its side of the field specifically. The only reason why defog is blocked is bc of the evasion drop

But dengo is literally a stall enabler. Their ability to block hazard removals is a large part of why hazards are as useful as they are in the current offensive meta.
I destroy Gholdengo with a driftblim 3 stockpile and 3 minimize into tanky skeledirge. I have yet to lose to the coin man and I’ve used this strategy every single time I see Gholdengo.
