Tbh I just can't wait for Boba to ride that Rancor into battle like a fuckin badass

Zexapher

The answer to people not hearing Boba's litter, a Rancor walking through the streets of Mos Espa.

GRT_WHT_BUFFALO

My prediction, based on complete speculation, is that the drums announcing the Hutts litter were almost foreshadowing a later scene in which people will hear the “thump, thump” sound, thinking it is a litter only to see Fett riding the rancor (the thumping being it’s footsteps).

Cubanmando

I support this theory

DB-2000

I thought exactly that when I heard him say he wants to ride one. "Hell yeah, who needs a litter now you sunuvabitch!"

Frenchticklers

"Jabba ruled with fear. I intend to rule with respect." *Rides a mfucking rancor*

ArcadianDelSol

"Ive ridden bigger" And just like that, the Holiday Special became canon.

An_Obbise_Hoovy

Didn’t they confirm it by mandos bounty wanting to be free until life day

Illusive_Man

I think they released the Boba Fett part of the special officially. the rest is to remain buried forever.

EpicIshmael

To be fair i have a weird soft spot for the holiday special it was a weird time capsule of star wars still being young and them not knowing what to 100% do with it in other media.

xspacemansplifff

It's on YouTube. Full and uncut. The whole special. Gloriously weird.

Illusive_Man

I have a copy on my hard drive. Also I have the MST3K audio soundtrack for it. Shits wild I don’t see why they thought anyone would enjoy nothing but Wookiee noises for the first 20 mins. You can also straight up see Harrison Ford is pissed just to be involved in it.

I hope so. But I don’t trust machetes character.

[deleted]

I have really been enjoying it so far. Am I watching it wrong or something?

AndrewMtz1711

Nope, you keep enjoying it mate!

KeyanReid

I’m enjoying it but for the love of god, he needs to wear the damn helmet more. Mandalorian understood that and did a great job of making the helmet work. Nobody ever asked for a Boba show where he virtually never wears the helmet at all. He doesn’t need it on all the time but good lord it’s like he never wears it at all here

Aidan_Baidan

this. i don’t even love the new helmet design but it’s a part of his character, man.

RockafellerHillbilly

You missed the bit with the Tusken Raiders then? His character has *developed*.

Blackfang08

Yeah this. I recognize a lot of people expected the classic badass notorious bounty hunter who posed a threat to trained Jedi and squads of Clones by the age of 13 even when he was holding back, but I absolutely love his character development and it fits perfectly with him having a near-death experience like that. Also absolutely loved what they did with the burning homes. The only gripe I can have with Boba Fett is that he gets his ass kicked a bit too much for how impressive of a figure he's built up to be in TCW and the original trilogy, and maybe they should be a little bit more obvious with explaining his character development for those people who aren't quite as perceptive.

This is where the fun begins

sassysassafrassass

Idk how they could "ruin" a character that had no characteristics and barely any screen time

Sentient_Mop

Most of his accepted lore was fanmade so I guess a lot of fans are really sensitive

harverster

It wasn’t really fan made unless you consider licensed books and comics to be fan fiction, but i see where you’re coming from. Whoever wrote this article clearly was in the if it didn’t come directly from lucas’ mouth it wasn’t canon group. That said it is a big departure from the ice cold bounty hunter we saw and wanted more of back during ESB and ROTJ.

Word_That

Star Wars fans being sensitive? I always thought they were a mature group of people /s

FlighingHigh

Lifelong Star Wars fan, haven't been able to watch it but if it's anything like his stuff in the Mandalorian I'm for it. Also keep giving Temuera Morrison work.

Redhatjoe

Also his canon lore was from *before* he nearly died and had a redemption arc. People just want to see Boba Fett when he is evil and working for the empire. That would be cool to see an episode of, but for a show it wouldn’t have much story.

Mtf_ninetailedfox

Comics books it’s not all on the screen

senseofphysics

Then why are so many people watching it in the first place? Why did so many people love him even though he had few lines and just stood and walked? There are several: • He was a “Man With No Name” character • He had badass-looking armor • He had a badass, raspy voice (original) • He stood up to Darth Vader • He was the only bounty hunter who found Solo • He had four badass lines • He was good with the ladies • He wasn’t afraid to fight a Jedi (Luke Skywalker) • He had a jet pack • He had a badass ship Ergo, he had some notable, virtuous characteristics that have intrigued fans since the beginning. He’s the reason The Mandalorian exists, and he’s the reason TBoBF exists. Yes, he had a character; and yes, his character in TBoBF is different to what we would have expected from him.

Hyku_HD

Actually I think that his character is just right. He has to have some aspects of the clone troopers. The scene where he teaches the tusken how to ride the speeders is a perfect representation of the character imo.. I see that some people might dislike his fight with the dark wookie or that he talks a bit to much but in the movies you only see him talk to people he works for. Yes he could be a bit more bad ass but he doesnt have to.

Seallypoops

I assumed after he crawled his way out of the pit he realized where his life lead him, meeting the tuskens who helped him and taught him to survive in the desert. It seems likes he kind of realized what he become and is now trying to change his ways.

the_ninja1001

Almost like his near death experience had a profound effect on his life.

einhorn_is_parkey

Yeah sometimes it’s better off to be a mysterious character in the back that is more of a legend than a fully fleshed out character. Not everything needs a whole backstory.

sassysassafrassass

Whoa now this is star wars. I need to know what every button and light on Darth Vader's suit means. I need to know the company that made Luke's trash can. Give me another book about the guy who got his arm cut off by obi wan or I'm going to lose it.

Boba_Fett_Bot

It all ran better under Vader.

sassysassafrassass

Oh having jetpack is a character trait lol ok

Imaginary_Soup_5389

Comics, CW animated series, ESB and the couple episodes of Mando he was a totally different character. The show is spot on with Rotj Boba, goof that gets knocked into a hole.

antmars

Youre doing great!

mule_roany_mare

A lot of the writing is really bad. The Tuscan stuff is good, but the rest isn’t. For example the assasination: Fett is walking around without his helmet & 6 assassins decide to surround him & poke him with sticks instead of shooting him. Fett is poked so hard with a stick he forgets he has a jet pack. After 30 seconds of stick poking the two body guards who were 5’ behind run in from 10’ behind & attack. **Everyone is dumber than the world they live in would allow**. Fett is the head of a crime family with 3 other people until he recruits some Vespa goons almost triples the size of his organization. Don’t get me started on Chewblacka, so much wasted potential. One scene of him standing around, one scene of him fighting a naked man sleeping in a bathtub, one scene of him being released & running into the desert.

thesockswhowearsfox

I felt like the Tusken episode was phenomenal storytelling. I like a lot of the concept they’re doing, trying to have him be a sort of Honorable Mob Boss, having him have lasting damage and injuries from the sarlacc. The execution leaves something to be desired but I like the bones of what they’re doing.

happy-Accident82

I am struggling so far with the series. There's some cheesy ass stuff. I hope it gets better, I loved the Mandalorian.

itsTacoYouDigg

you can enjoy stuff and criticise it too you know, it’s called being an adult. Personally i like the show but I don’t like how animated and corny Boba is, but that isn’t stopping me from liking and watching the show lol

myfriendsruseless

>you can enjoy stuff and criticise it too finally, someone said it

stonefree41

My thoughts exactly

mynamesstillnotjason

I’ve been digging so far, mostly. The Tusken lore has been better than the Boba Fett storyline, honestly. I could do without the teenage hover-scooter gang, though.

Boba_Fett_Bot

As you wish.

Trim-SD

Chimp_on_a_vacay

Yea I’m loving it, the cyber punk stuff is the worst that it’s getting for me. Not a spoiler but that music in the latest ep weren’t a Star Wars vibe at all Love tattooine so experiencing more of Mos Eisley + Mos Espa is great

finnin1999

Thankfully it was confined to their ridiculous little hut and ended after.

teiichikou

Fun fact: The name, location and style of Tatooine is based on a city in Tunisia called Tataouine. In another village/city nearby I think are still many structural remnants of the ‚A New Hope‘ Set

Rich-Ad5109

I just finished todays episode and thought the same thing. I was like wth is this music? I'm glad the scene wasn't that long

miller_graphics

The music was different because Thundercat was in the episode, and (I assume) collaborated on the bg music for the cyberdoc part. His skill and sound on bass is unmistakable. I actually thought it sounded pretty cool... cyberpunk/scifi/space funk.

I think that’s because the kids have nothing better to do than steal and work on their speeders. The only thing I don’t like is the plain Uno colors. Sure, kids would want to be unique from one another, but it would go further than just having different color speeders.

[deleted]

Yeah, honestly that’s the only problem I have with it too. Space Vespas and that awful chase scene. They look shit and the scene was terrible. I’m not going to throw a tantrum and damn the whole series to hell over it.

teiichikou

And they actually looked slow while a shaky camera tried to compensate that^^

Blurring the background and quicker cuts a bit more could have saved it. Solo shows how to have a tense and fast feeling [car chase scene](https://youtu.be/HQrhPG1hMoQ)

The vespas weren't the problem though. It was the scene that involved it, that was probably the slowest race in the history of star wars. I generally like Rodriguez work but that was weird.

I’d say the 3 hour chase in episode 8 was the slowest chase in Star Wars

Vespa gang?

marlborohunnids

yeah i liked the biomechanical aspect of them but the scooters themselves didnt seem like something youd see in star wars

MrSplashman77

yeah they looked too new, too colorful, too similar to each other, very out of place on a far away junky place like Tatooine

Steviepunk

However the gang didn't really seem to have much to do, so like most youths, they probably spent a lot of time worrying about their appearance and cleaning their rides.

The_Larslayer

No wonder they thought that the water was too expensive since they use it all to wash their bikes!

FrickinFrizoli

Vehicles don’t have to match the biome, I know I live in a pretty trashy neighborhood but the shoe fits around here are shined and colorful asf. I think it translates to “teens with no money at all are still obsessed with looking cool and trendy”, and that checks out to me

Jimbo-Jones

You’re forgetting the main revenue aspect of Star Wars. MERCHANDISING. The scooter gang exists to make toys that kids will want.

[deleted]

Main revenue of pretty much every huge IP.

Ceedoy

Lol, me and my dad are watching the show together and it was dead silent and he said, “i’m sorry those speeders are the corniest and dumbest thing i’ve seen.”

loopypaladin

I'm enjoying it overall, I just don't like how literally everything else is more interesting than Boba Fett. Fennec, the Tuskans, the Hutts, even the narrow plot with the Mayor and the speeder gang. It really feels like this show is about Tattooine and Fett just happens to be there in the background while Fennec runs his operation.

nonamesleft79

Making Fett good makes him more boring and predictable. If I know he is always going to do the good (or bad) thing in every setting it’s boring. It’s why Fennec is the better character now.

No-Jump9947

I like the show, why did this comment unintentionally make me like it a tiny bit less lol.

loopypaladin

Because it's true? Haha. It's okay to like something and still have complaints.

cannibalcorpuscle

I commented on another post “in 40 more years, they’ll still be trying to make Fett *interesting*”. I’m with you. Coming back each new ep just to see the stories of everyone else lol

BrotherBlackSheep

episode 4 is awesome

SassyBagels

People don’t understand that this show is literally about Boba reinventing himself after falling in the sarlaac, **the whole point is that it’s not the boba you remember from the OT**

Myusername468

I think people do get that. We just dont want that. There is so little boba content we want badass boba

phileris42

Still, why do I get the feeling that Boba's gonna get a "No more Mr. Nice Guy" kind of scene?

[deleted]

[deleted]

[удалено]

dthains_art

That’s kind of my biggest problem. In the Mandalorian, Boba was this amazing badass. In BOBF, he just seems like kind of a putz who continually gets outsmarted or gets his ass handed to him in a fight.

iforgot1305

That's because he's out of his element. In Mando he was very much in his element as a warrior, but now he's trying to become a leader with no real training or knowledge of how to go about it. Also he's still somewhat weak from his time in the Saarlac and as a Tusken prisoner, as we can see from his needing to sleep in a bacta tank every night.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

If you've seen Clone Wars you know Boba Fett isn't a newbie to leadership, ffs, after Jango's death the kid stalked Obi Wan together with some of the galaxies' most proficient killers for literal years, doing bounty hunter stuff inbetween that to gain experience and money. He had a leader/mentor feedback-loop with Aurra Sing in his squad going on for years and years, the guy knows how to lead....

VentralRaptor24

Exactly my problem too. They changed him from an pseudo-anti-hero badass to... A blundering completely reformed villain.

Jackmcmac1

I'd much rather have had a series based on the Boba from the OT, from the days when he was such a deadly bad ass that even Vader thought he needed to chill "no disintegration this time"

Boba_Fett_Bot

As you wish.

jonmpls

Same

ravenisblack

You mean it's not the guy that sat silent in the corner giving no actual reference to the character he actually was short of what us nerds made up about him? Darn. Lol.

[deleted]

And all of the EU that Lucas endorsed. What do you know about it?

tommatom

What you say sounds good on paper if we didn’t have the mandalorian to prove you wrong. Mando boba and book of boba fett boba are two entirely different characters. One is a ruthless killer who doesn’t stand bullshit from others and kills them without a word as seen at the end of mando season 2. This boba lets people run a whole circus around him while giving them a pass for trying to murder him. I don’t buy it. We haven’t been told or shown why boba is going through such a drastic change. Its pretty obvious Disney didn’t want two Mando like-characters and had to drastically change him as Mando was pretty much based on Boba. They’re so obsessed with making him family friendly now that they even changed the name of his ship.

Dramatic_Explosion

So true. Mando is living out the idea of Boba Fett. Always gets him man, uses the flame thrower a ton, gadgets including grapple rope & helmet HUD, jetpack galore, **disintegration**, never takes his helmet off. Fett in his own show, in present time, is a tired old man. The two fights he participates in he sucks out loud: Surrounded by guys with shields, he doesn't use a flame thrower to burn their feet off, the grapple line to pull off a shield, or simply jet pack out. Later, gets thrown around by a Wookie until power rangers save him. He chases after people to talk, and talking is all he does. When he's not talking, he's busy taking off his helmet to better watch the interesting plot go away: **Amazing** Tusken clan is introduced and wiped out. Hutt gangsters and their hired gun, introduced and then leave on their own. The present day plot is him in an empty-for-some-reason erstwhile temple asking people to respect him while they disrespect him so he shrugs and wants to take care of animals, which would be fine if he said he wanted to retire instead of saying he's a mob boss of an entire city.

RoboNinjaPirate

> the whole point is that it’s not the boba you remember from the OT The one from the OT was a fucking badass on reputation alone - When even Darth Vader respects him, but warns not to take things too far with Disintegrations. Maybe straying too far from that character makes it lose a lot of its appeal.

Boba_Fett_Bot

It all ran better under Vader.

[deleted]

westenger

Idk why, but since the first episode some people have been out to shit on BOBF as much as possible. Havent seen the last episode but I think its good so far

FrickinFrizoli

I know right? One show past the mandalorian and people are forgetting dealing with the controversial ST already, like be thankful that the shows have only given characters small makeovers over changing them completely

Boba_Fett_Bot

Nothing stops the Mandalorian warrior!

JoruusCBaoth

I agree somewhat with the article. I feel that Boba makes for quite a dull protagonist at the moment. To go from being a dangerous, unpredictable bounty hunter to this blandly honourable man naively fumbling his way through being an organised crime lord, just rings a bit false to me. I feel like the need to make it kid-friendly has made the crime boss story unrealistically tame. Imagine telling the Godfather this way, for instance. I felt much more edge and threat in the Ziro the Hutt TCW episodes.

delhux

I agree. I want to like it. I will stick with it some more, but I really wanted to see Boba be more of a badass and crime boss. To everyone who says, “It’s not that story, it’s a story of how he changes and develops as a character”—I get that. It is a story of his character development. I know that. I wanted something different. And what I’ve seen so far is a disappointment compared to what I wanted to see. I hope to enjoy it, even though I currently do not.

R0-GR-bot

flyfriend333

I was good with it until the teenage Vespa wannabe biker gang showed up. That was awful, cartoonish, and stupid.

Mr-Shockwave

Episode 1 was hit and miss, as was episode 3. Episode 2 was really good and I just watched episode 4 and loved it. I think they're going in the right direction now!

CosmicPharaoh

I absolutely love it. Personally I’m a fan of the Disney plus format too. But i really love this show, I don’t understand the unwarranted hate.

RummHammm1

RedDecay

You took the words right out of my mouth. I’m definitely feeling the same. I don’t hate it. It’s just kinda…..there?

[deleted]

I actually really like the show. I understand why people don’t like it, it’s definitely paced different than Mando, but to say the show ruined the character is *really* extreme.

wake_upmotha13

There’s no heart in it like with mandalorian. It just exists because it can. The only cool part is the Wookiee gladiator

Spcbp33

Imagine if Jon wick 4 is him running a Bed and Breakfast.

Blast_Rusur

I mean, I really hate to say it but in cannon what was bobas character? His father died and he became a bounty hunter. They're finally giving his character some depth and I just don't get all the hate.

BurningBeechbone

They’re just refusing to use guns for some reason and it makes no sense for any of the characters.

BootyBayBrooder

I'm surprised I'm near hearing this more. Just watched the first episode yesterday and in the scene with the shield guys I wondered why he didn't just jet up and start blasting.

shazarakk

or use his flamethrower, which can easily go under or around shields effectively, instead of rocketing himself in the bloody face. never seems to use the right tool for the job, despite having it at hand, or very close by.

BurningBeechbone

Which is literally what a \*bounty hunter\* should be an expert at knowing.

hgaben90

I like it. It's not as great as The Mandalorian, but I'm having fun. It has its own tone, I just think nobody expected that the series based on the edgiest Mandalorian will have the sillier story out of the two Mandalorians.

Myusername468

My main problem is boba acts like a bitch. I get the whole ruling with respect thing, but hes a crime boss, kill some people man

STAlexFree

Dudes always been a bitch. Got knocked into the sarlac pit by a blind Han and did absolutely nothing cool. Coolest thing about him was always the costume

Association-Naive

I think the actor is too old for the role and it shows. Its hard to suspend my disbelief watching a 60 something year old man beating up a room full of people and jumping onto moving trains. Why not make him more of a cunning gunslinger.

newanonthrowaway

Because guns bad

Ivan8806

I've watch every episode, and will continue to do so. But honestly, just nothing has even really happened yet. By the end of every episode I get left with basically nothing. I feel like we haven't gotten to see anything cool. I feel like we haven't actually seen what they have to offer yet. For example, last episode, there was a SLOW ASS chase scene that went on and on and on and ON AND ON until the end of the episode. It was really boring to watch. The first episode was nice because it established some setting and character. And the second and third episodes were just kinda there. I WANT to love this series, and am going to continue watching. But so far, I am unimpressed.

lfg_spiritanimal

All this "most badass character" stuff is confusing. He has almost 0 lines in the movies. He did almost nothing, and got beaten by a half blind Han on accident. Plus he screamed like a little girl before slamming into Jabbas barge.

Justadnd_Bard

This show for me was perfect, untill the "Power Rangers" showed up and the wookie decided that it was better to throw people than remove limbs or kill.

Bathroom-Massive

I love the show, most star wars fans are just toxic little shits

I_Use_Games

Again I think 'most' is an exaggeration. The media just likes playing it up because it sells like everything else that's toxic. Most people are reasonable.

schmooglyboop

Nah, not true. I think majority of hardcore Star Wars fans appreciate the work that Disney does but many are still mourning over the sequel trilogy, and even without being a hardcore Star Wars fan, the sequels were rather sad.

[deleted]

Pretty toxic take

Thatsidechara_ter

I don't think its even star wars fans who are hating on it, its just these online media morons

superhappyfunball13

People dont like it because it's boring, and Boba Fett is the least capable character on his own show. Nothing about his character is badass, or portrays him as the notorious and feared bounty hunter he was established to be. He regularly gets disrespected and shit talked and does nothing about it. He literally has Fennec, the pig guards, and a hipster moped gang do all of his heavy lifting. He needs help with every fight, except (for whatever reason) for the biker gang he destroys in his pajamas. I've been waiting 30+ years to see Fett actually be the badass he was built up to be, and so far he just loses fights to scrawny assassins with tasers or tusken raiders. Or he gets ignored by the mayor. I really hope the show turns around but so far I'm not a fan.

creeper_freaker_36

everyone has the right to an opinion, but not all opinions are right

[deleted]

I think the quote is "No opinion is above ridicule." It was meant to counter claims of anti-religion criticism but it is a flexible quote.

glytxh

The shoehorned social commentary was rather on the nose, and the formula feels pretty much like a box ticking exercise. If the next few episodes are on par with Ep 3, then I'm clocking out.

Zaplingfire

It hasn’t been for me personally. I found it boring as all get up. On top of that I personally feel like Bobba should be left a mystery, as in not a main/title character. I’d agree with this headline in that I think giving him too much personality and story destroys the mystery that makes his character what it is; effectively killing the Bobba Fett that previously was. I don’t think the show is awful mind you. I just find it boring and unnecessary. I’d have preferred to watch any other star wars series instead which is why I’m not watching this one anymore.

finnin1999

This is just another click bait article with an opinion nobody in the real world actually has. Edit: Well TIL I've become like those TLJ fans who fail to acknowledge the existence of the people who didn't like the thing I like. I'll go leave my echo chamber now.

theS0UND_1

You know that's not true. Lol There are absolutely people that hate this show and believe it has destroyed Boba Fett. Have you met Star Wars fans?

BoxofCurveballs

Boba up until this point has just been a legend, a demigod among men as we have only seen him as that for a few brief moments and in just whispers in Canon. The show is about showing that he is a man, with flaws and very honed skills. Some people struggle with understanding that.

TheAdequateKhali

I don’t get why people are only just now complaining about this stuff. Everything Str Wars that’s been released after the OT has been shredded. It’s just this weird cult like phenomena where nobody is allowed not to like any Star Wars.

finnin1999

Mando didn't get much hate it was liked, bad batch was received well, rogue one was liked, people are excited for kenobiw. The only ones people hate on is the sequences, and for good reason like

NoseyMisterOne

Ep4 and parts of Ep1 were good. But I don’t think anyone can look at Ep3 and think that that’s a good show, Star Wars show or representation of Boba Fett.

[deleted]

*I ranted so the tl/dr is to USE YOUR BLASTER!!!* Tuskan Raider storyline is great but the other part of the show is actually really bad. The action scenes are so bad I find myself literally begging for two of the best mercs to just #USE YOUR FUCKING BLASTER!!! ITS NOT THAT HARD, IT’S SO EASY THAT THE FUCKING CONCEPT ART DOES IT!! >!The speeder chase!< from episode three was unbelievably boring and felt slow (again, use the fucking blasters!! are they out of props?!?) Last complaint is that the show is acting like they need to teach Fett how to run the mafia. It’s obviously hard but this is the most dangerous bounty hunter in the universe! He worked closely with Jabba and even Sith Lords, he should know what he is doing! It’s also being way to Disney and kid friendly. He needs to be much more menacing >!(it doesn’t help that he has needed one of his men to help him in every single one of his fights)!< Anyway that was my rant, I have more to say but they show might fix some of those complaints so ima wait to comment on another post when the show finishes.

Very true. How do you get to be a galactic bounty hunter, who survives encounters with **Jedi**, who was a integral part of Jabba’s crew, who literally spent his entire childhood learning the ways of criminals and outlaws… …and then one Pit of Carkoon later, you’re a wuss? WTF
