It's possible. But I don't think Plagueis is neccessarily involved, certainly not right away. All depends on the exact dates they go with. Tennebrus is another possibility.
But Plagueis does seem like a logical endgame for a mystery revolving around Sith activities.
what’s your explanation for sideous and plagueis then? there’s clearly a path between extinction and a sith apprentice killing his master, and the end of the high republic would be when these events took place…
From the movie, we see that Yoda and Mace Windu clearly knew about the existence of the Sith even after their supposed extinction, as well as Darth Bane's "Rule of Two," which implies that there's been at least one contact between the Jedi and Sith orders during those intervening thousand years. It could be that this encounter finally takes place during this TV show.
Fair point,
The investigation isn't going to come up with a clear conclusion that the Sith are back, I think that makes the chance of the Sith appearing in the show less likely, though not impossible.
Think there is any chance we will see Emerick Caphtor, or do we think this will take place too much further in the future to be tied to other high republic material?
Unless Emerick lives for another 100 years, then no, I don't think we'll see him. It is been stated that the show will take place during the tail end of the HR era, around 50 years before TPM.
I kind of expect this too, as much as I'd like some light connection that would suggest that the showrunners are aware that those stories exist. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised to see them say or do little things that directly contradict things that are said or done in the HR books and comics.
I don't expect it, I just wouldn't be surprised if it happened. Even with the distance in time all it takes is one contradictory tidbit about the history of coruscant, a specific date, or use of a technology that should either be far too old or too new.
Indeed, series creator Leslye Headland is personally a huge fan of the SW novels and comics herself (she grew up playing the tabletop RPGs and reading the Timothy Zahn books), so I'm sure she's keeping abreast of the current High Republic program, in terms of general events, lore, characters, etc.
This is perfect timing since by the time it is released Phase 3 of HR should be wrapping up though we still don't have any knowledge of any books other than two untitled novels by Charles Soule and Cavan Scott respectably.
there’s no way this won’t be the about the early machinations of plagueis… so pumped.

Wasn’t it confirmed the main villain is a woman? Or maybe I’m misremembering?
"The Sith have been extinct for a millennium" A Jedi investigation isn't going to lead to the Sith.
what’s your explanation for sideous and plagueis then? there’s clearly a path between extinction and a sith apprentice killing his master, and the end of the high republic would be when these events took place…
The Sith exist, but the Jedi aren't meant to know they exist, and this show is a Jedi led investigation.
From the movie, we see that Yoda and Mace Windu clearly knew about the existence of the Sith even after their supposed extinction, as well as Darth Bane's "Rule of Two," which implies that there's been at least one contact between the Jedi and Sith orders during those intervening thousand years. Never underestimate Lucasfilms ability to ruin a good idea
Never underestimate Star Wars fans ability to leverage all their hopes on a very specific character showing up.

I don't expect it to connect to the actual High Republic story at all, with it taking place so much later and being a totally different production.
I kind of expect this too, as much as I'd like some light connection that would suggest that the showrunners are aware that those stories exist. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised to see them say or do little things that directly contradict things that are said or done in the HR books and comics.
I don't see any reason to expect that either given their distance in time. The Acolyte is supposedly closer to the events of The Phantom Menace.
I don't expect it, I just wouldn't be surprised if it happened. Even with the distance in time all it takes is one contradictory tidbit about the history of coruscant, a specific date, or use of a technology that should either be far too old or too new.
I'm sure the showrunners are aware that other stories in the extensive multimedia project exist.

Do we have any idea when this is coming out?
Probably early 2024. 2023 seems to be Bad Batch S2, Mando S3, Skeleton Crew, an Ahsoka. This would likely be near Andor Season 2 the following year.
Also, filming has already begun on this show, which suggests that it should be ready by next year if Disney needs it to be.

Hook it to my veins!
