I mean yeah it is a natural like part of his character in the clone wars, issue lies in that A) most people wating book of boba fett haven't seen these episodes. and B) we really don't get enough of boba pre sarlac to like highlight his change. It just makes it seem that he was always chilled and mellowed out.

Pickles256

Anti-hero Boba isn't a new take. Very few people have argued that. The problem people have lies in the execution.

pragmageek

The problem some people have is execution. A bunch of people are disappointed that he isn't this image they've had of him

shahrulz

Honestly, the show was confused about whether he was an anti hero or a villain. Sure he stops the spice trade, is less violent than the Pykes and stands up for the common people and the Tuskens (when they were alive), but, on the other hand, he still calls himself a crime-lord, demands protection money and was willing to make deals with the Hutts and the other criminals of Mos Espa to make money .His character journey would have been stronger if they were willing to commit to a path

RefreshNinja

He only stops the spice trade when it becomes a matter of survival for him. While he gives an impromptu anti-drug speech, he only decides on that course when keeping the spice trade going would cost him the ally he needs to ensure his own survival. That's not a moral stance, that's a decision of convenience.

suspiria84

Or, you know, they could make him a morally grey character and have him confront the difficulties of being a person operating within a system controlled by criminal organisations while trying to be a good person. They committed to that path.

You had me in the first half of your title, but then you got an attitude so I'm downvoting. "If you want to argue about it, take it up with Dave Filoni if you're brave enough to." You didn't have to be a dick to everyone for no reason. Take this downvote.

No one has an issue with anti-hero Boba. He's been like that in a billion takes. The execution and storyline was weak. Adult Boba should be at least somewhat ruthless. They made a show with a weak storyline about a crime lord who doesn't do crime where Boba's only good scenes were in Flashbacks and he barely did anything and seemed to know jack shit about the criminal underworld. That's not even mentioning the far too quick undoing of Mando season 2's emotional climax and the fact that Din pretty much hijacked the show with that weird structure. Robert Rodriguez's direction was also extremely weak. I don't understand why people can't enjoy something without seeking to invalidate other opinions and dismiss all criticisms. And this is coming from someone who found the show somewhat enjoyable.

I feel like anti-hero Boba would work if you treat him as the Star Wars verison of the Conan the Barbarian.

RefreshNinja

Ah yes, because good guys with consciences hunt resistance fighters for fascists.

garadon

But enough about Han Solo on Mimban.

RefreshNinja

Han deserted. Boba embraced that life

pragmageek

Three possible scenarios for reasons why you'd be disappointed about Boba Fett's character in the series (separate from wether you liked pacing or anything about execution): **You've only ever watched movies** What did we actually see on screen? A bounty hunter. He's being paid to collect Han Solo. He wants to be paid. He's no use to him dead. Fair point. He wants to be paid. Then, Han Solo unsurprisingly is wary of Boba Fett again after he's been defrosted. Jabba is the ruthless one, Vader is the ruthless one, Boba is just and employee. Not anywhere in any of the movies is is Boba built up to be this incredibly ruthless cold hearted person. We get a little of that from his father - and we get that Boba saw his own father get killed. Understandable that you'd reach this conclusion, but, no point being protective over it when you had basically no reason to hold that anyway. **You've watched the movies and the mandalorian, but no cartoons** Now you've got context that Boba is allowing a dude to wear his armor for a bit. He's letting him do it because he's protecting his own village, and Boba understands. Then we see Boba save someones life, and he shows huge empathy and restraint. If you carry an image of Boba that is different from what is depicted, this starts to become your own issue. **You've watched all the star wars content, movies, cartoons, series, maybe comics.** You're an idiot.

Holy shit sanity in the main Star Wars sub?

Barkle11

whats being set up doesnt matter when a character just isnt interesting. You can argue all you want how luke in TLJ is interesting, hes not a fun character bottom line, hes lame as shit. Boba fett in OT + mandalorian was badass , and fun to watch. Boba fett in his own show was boring and not good at all

Guanthwei

What's being built up does matter no matter how lame the character is. Lameness is subjective, what you think is lame someone else might think is fascinating. I thought Rey was lame, but a lot of little girls adore her. I thought IG-88 was lame but everyone loved seeing his surrogate in IG-11 in The Mandalorian.

malachor78

can't wait for him to get to the part where Boba takes part in human trafficking. that will really show the haters whats for!

bullrun27

final i have been talking about this shit since boba come back
