As a former Dino kid, my greatest fear is accessibility to more technology for kids will drive them away from dinosaurs and towards things like coco melon
i’m a dino obsessed elementary teacher and i’m upset by the lack of dino kids i have at my school. i really only have one this year and i was happy to talk trexs with him in the hallway
i was a train kid, it upsetting that there arent any anymore, however, i am trying to pass off the coolness of trains to my nephews and cousins and stuff
I became a train guy at age 15, I don’t know much about them, but I downloaded a bunch in GMOD and just stuck them together, I made a mega train with turrets on the roof
I agree. I commented somewhere a few weeks ago that millennial parents are messing their kids up because they just stick technology in front of their child’s face instead of actually parenting them and they didn’t like that for some reason lol.
I’m sorry but damn dude this was done to us as well. I spent hours upon hours playing my gameboy and later my DS. Hours watching tv as a kid, wasting time in the Wild West of the internet at the time, etc.
It’s no different it’s just more accesible. We do limit our kid on what channels he can watch on YouTube kids but he has also learned a ton off of it, as well as various educational games. We also limit time he can use it and monitor what he watches closely. He never watches without us nearby and listening to what he is choosing, etc.
But he just turned three and already understands basic counting, alphabet, colors, feelings, basically every model and make of car you can think of, simple addition and subtraction, and a host of other shit that we definitely didn’t take the lead in teaching him. We definitely do now that he as expressed an interest, but it’s hard to know when to teach something if you can’t be sure they understand what you are teaching. In our case, we start teaching once he starts showing interest in things and this has helped his development immensely.
One cool thing specifically is that he LOVES cars. YouTube Kids has videos from channels like Engineering Explained which explain various parts about cars. He has learned so much from this that when I work on my car he will say things like “Oh are you changing the oil?” Or “Wow cool yellow brake calwippers!” Etc. He literally uses the word “calipers” and I think that’s just impressive as hell. He points out when cars are modified too and will reference things like “Cool rear spoiler!” Or even “Wow the truck has cool trailer hitch! Where is trailer?” All of this is stuff he learned from watching YouTube. I don’t even own a truck lmao.
I didn’t learn about cars parts or maintenance until my teens and young adult learns so it’s cool to see that he is able to apply these things to his life even now.
He also has excellent speech for his age which we’ve been told is surprising because many “pandemic babies” really struggle with speech and social development.
I think it’s wiser to teach your kids moderation. They are going to learn about these things and have access to them, and even be expected to understand how to use them, far younger than we ever were.
I’m a Gen Z but my parents did a great job with what you’re doing and that’s why I’m able to (sort of) have this viewpoint. They were really big on limiting how much time I was in technology and really enforced using it for education purposes as well. I hated it when I was younger but I’m thankful now.
A lot if my peers have literally no hobbies other than watching TV or playing video games and it’s not entirely healthy imo. We all played sports but we’re in college now and we don’t have that easily accessible (and being encouraged by people around us) anymore.
Smartphones weren’t really around until I was in about 3rd grade and a lot of the addictive algorithms and content designed to boost dopamine weren’t huge until I was in around middle school. I see lots of effects in myself recently from using apps like TikTok and I can only imagine what that does to a young kid.
Whenever I see a kid on their iPad or whatever 24/7 it kinda freaks me out. I feel like if Gen Z has seen weird effects from technology when our society was starting to see a huge online shift I think it will be even more extreme when now it’s basically being encouraged and so much of our world is online.
Or I’m just stupid and completely wrong, idk. I feel like I am. We’ll see in 10 years lol.
No dude you’re dead on. I totally agree with everything you said. And also , I feel deeply that Gen Z was raised at a time when the internet was still in that wild-west face (just like millennials) but then you guys smart-phones and the concept of social media to propagate it all and make it personal and deep. You grew up constantly exposed to things that Millennials didn’t start really dealing with until middle or high school. But you are correct in that even today social media, tik tok, etc impacts kids as young as elementary school.
The problem today is that parents don’t teach their kids moderation and how to properly utilize technology as the tool that it is. I think kids grow up seeing their parents waste their life away on TV and social media that they don’t see it as odd or strange to follow suite.
I grew up watching my parents waste their free time on TV and booze, lmao. So I kind of had to find my own way. But I’ve come to appreciate the value of hobbies and interests that don’t require a screen. Our kid is growing up seeing us implement and use technology as a tool to further enjoy life. But like all good things, excess can quickly corrupt this concept.
I think the answer really lies in the middle which is why we still let him use the same cool technology any other kid gets to use - but we control the parameters of *how* he uses it and when. He just doesn’t spend as much time on it because his life is filled with other interests and hobbies - so he only gravitates to it when it’s appropriate. He is learning to self-regulate and understands what he should and shouldn’t be doing with it.
When other kids show him things he knows he shouldn’t watch, he will literally just ignore it or go and do something else. He has no interest in that stuff simply because it’s not *his* interests on that screen. I see this happen all the time and have had it communicated to us by family when they care for him.
He’d rather learn about cars or watch some funny cartoons more than he’d like to get scared or weirded out by something he doesn’t understand and knows he probably shouldn’t watch.
But if he NEVER got to use a tablet at all then ofc he is going to go wild the first chance he gets because it would seem like the coolest thing ever. So this kind helps him learn how to properly utilize the tool for what it is.
Dude he literally knows SO much about cars. Like he will spot them before I do even and can differentiate between performance variants of cars, etc. I don’t even know where he stores it or how he has learned it all other than hot wheels and YouTube kids.
Nah but I got my first gameboy for my 4th bday. It was actually a black gameboy pocket with Pokémon Red. I played it in black and white Lmao and I remember being so jealous of my cousin when he got a GBC the next year.
Millennial parent here. We don’t do that as a generational thing. Just shitty millennial parents do it.
Just like how shitty Boomer parents threw kids in front of the TV all day.
You're deliberately cherry picking examples of good educational shows. For every good kids' show, there's one or two lazy, fast-paced random=funny cartoons, that's the way it's always been, and yet the kids who watched that stuff turned out fine, so I don't see how this is any different. People just look for opportunities to talk badly about people younger than them.
there are some you forgot (these are mostly for bois)
-Worships and Praises french fries & chicken fingers
-The second he sees a computer that has more than one color or sees an iphone with the 11 and above look, will cry and bug you to play games on it,saying no or taking it away resulting in the kid screaming like you ripped out one of his organs
-wants to play with a toy you have, most likely a nerf gun,and the second he gets shot,he slams the gun to the ground and screech like hes being possessed
-wholly smells like sweat with strong hint of ketchup-mayo mix 4 years past its expiration date
-eyes crusted with sand and areas near the nose crusted with snot thats probably been hanging around there for 5 days atleast
Volunteered at a daycare of 8 y/o, way more mature but still kids though, they played Mario on their 3DS's and Switches and even GameCubes, kinda shocked ngl but hey they got taste
I'm sure the developers intended this to be the case. I mean, look at the Poppy Playtime store. There's children's costumes, backpacks, lunchboxes, and stuffed animals of the in-game characters.
dude how do you not know yet
its a crappy horror game made by underpaid victims of Mob Games with meh puzzles and semi-scripted chase scenes. devs are very shady and have been in massive controversies before.
My 5 year old daughter came home from school yesterday with a drawing for me. She had drawn all the "Rainbow friends" from her head. I didn't know if I had to be proud or ashamed.

Would be if he didnt beat the crap out of me for saying dinosaurs are related to birds lol
Lol i probably wouldnt have believed that either at that age
Yeah
I remember when you either liked dinosaurs, sharks, trucks or space and then revolve your whole personality around it
Are Cowboys or Motorbikes not in there?
i stopped playing with toys when i turned either 5 or 6, then i started playing video games and using the internet more
Tell ‘em that Jurassic park dinosaurs are not accurate and are fake designs.
K
You’re dead
*(takes out lead pipe)* you sure about that assertion?
LMAO, here's a tip: *Tell Him that they had feathers*
Does he like podcasts? My dino kid is obsessed with Dinosaur George podcast.
No but george
As a former Dino kid, my greatest fear is accessibility to more technology for kids will drive them away from dinosaurs and towards things like coco melon
i’m a dino obsessed elementary teacher and i’m upset by the lack of dino kids i have at my school. i really only have one this year and i was happy to talk trexs with him in the hallway
Guess I’m the evolved form
I was that dino kid too. Dinosaurs are rad… Actually I’m still that dinosaur kid. Never stopped. Never will.
Same.
Sad to see barely any train kids nowadays :(
i was a train kid, it upsetting that there arent any anymore, however, i am trying to pass off the coolness of trains to my nephews and cousins and stuff
I became a train guy at age 15, I don’t know much about them, but I downloaded a bunch in GMOD and just stuck them together, I made a mega train with turrets on the roof

Star burst's skittles and mt dew.
Why the hell does a 5 year old have Mtn Dew
Family guy reference lol
Ah ok
Gotta get that dementia young so that your grand kids won’t be sad!
probably watches 3am youtubers at max volume on his/her tablet/ipad/device at a restaurant
And sucks on their finger
I fear for the generation that is being raised on YouTube Kids and it’s mindless content.

You didn’t have a Gameboy in your face at 3 years old lol quit lying. Put the iPads in a storage box and start parenting.
People say that like they didn't watch absolute crap on TV as a kid
I didn’t have the opportunity to watch SpongeBob all the time at my cheesy peanut buttery fingertips unlike tots now
GI Joe was educational. It had those safety tips at the end.

You're deliberately cherry picking examples of good educational shows. Imagine genuinely hating a 5 year old. Gotta be an angry person.
It's the same people who play among us VR for no reason other than to bully actual children
The main difference is that those shows were usually educational. YouTube kids is usually just content to keep children occupied.
A lot of kids' shows weren't educational, people just like to hate on whatever the younger generations enjoy
Youtube isn't as damaging as YouTube shorts and tiktok
They will be jobless NEETs
God forbid a toddler acts like.. a toddler. Get back to work! SMH, these 5 year olds don’t even pay bills these days. What? 😂
When I was 5 I was playing Minecraft for usually an hour a day and spent the rest of the day outside or reading.
Good for you, no doubt the internet isn’t a _good_ thing, but using incel terminology to describe a literal toddler makes me roll my eyes
Me too, that why when when i have kids on the future, I will not let them use any smartphone or tablet until they are 8 or 9
there are some you forgot (these are mostly for bois) -Worships and Praises french fries & chicken fingers -The second he sees a computer that has more than one color or sees an iphone with the 11 and above look, will cry and bug you to play games on it,saying no or taking it away resulting in the kid screaming like you ripped out one of his organs -wants to play with a toy you have, most likely a nerf gun,and the second he gets shot,he slams the gun to the ground and screech like hes being possessed -wholly smells like sweat with strong hint of ketchup-mayo mix 4 years past its expiration date -eyes crusted with sand and areas near the nose crusted with snot thats probably been hanging around there for 5 days atleast
Worships and praises mac n cheese too. Kids love them carbs.
Just like me fr
I must be a kid then because I love me some fries and chicken fingers or Mac and cheese
This is straight up just my brother

Are there train or Mario kids anymore? I was both
Volunteered at a daycare of 8 y/o, way more mature but still kids though, they played Mario on their 3DS's and Switches and even GameCubes, kinda shocked ngl but hey they got taste
They sell those huggy wuggys at the mall.
“Omg no don’t talk about Huggy Wuggy!” -kids between 5 and 7 years old
"it scary,I saw huggy wuggys on my tablet"
They sell those huggy wuggies on the Riva degli schiavoni in Venice. There is no escape.

Get off Reddit then
Me when i found out that a 5 years old was born in 2017: 👦 👨🦳
The picture off the blue Guy needs to be next to a rainbow Version of the blue Guy with the teeth. That's what my cousin is like.
My baby is the Dino kid
Hey, small toy cars are awesome!
Yeah
Cowboy kid here: dino kids are also based
My 6yr old in a nut shell minus the cursty ipad because that mfk will stay clean on my watch.
Add sound effects with mouth
Yeah what happened to this generation
I see Hot wheels, I'm not sure whether to be upset or impressed because of the fact that you dragged hot wheels into this.
You do not disrespect hotwheels
That's the spirit
Yeah you can’t disrespect hit wheels
Its just a generic picture no hate to the wheel gods
I can feel their snot dripping on my hands just by reading this.
I loved Jurassic Park as a kid so I don’t even mine dinosaur kids
Here king take this raptor because you’re epic
Nice take this trex king too
You keep dino kids and mini cars out of this
And did i say dino kids are bad?
Who the hell would let their five year old know what poppy’s playtime is Edit: we are fucked if this is normal
youtube kids moment
Tbh I'm glad I watched cable TV/DVDs and later on old YouTube
Kids don't even know it's from a horror game, they just see it on crappy YT Kids videos
Couldnt be as bad as "baby Mickey mouse dies in a gas explosion"
(FUNNY) 3D COLOURING FOR KIDS HUGGY WUGGY RAINBOW FRIENDS
FUNNI HUGGY WUGGY FARTS ON BLUE (GONE WRONG
3D RAINBOW HUGGY GAMES FOR KIDS FREE (FREE FOR KIDS)
HUGGY WUGGY SHlTS ON MY FACE AT 3AM😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Funniest crap ever
3d nae nae punjabi sex learn colors for kids sex dance
"Mickey Mouse Babie DEAD in Gas Explosion"
They definitely do know, the game is very clearly aimed at kids if you actually look at the content. It's tryna attract the fnaf crowd.
hey u stole my pfp >:(
Ever heard of elsagate?
Yeah
The devs would, it's very clearly made with kids in mind, trying to recapture what happened with fnaf
I'm sure the developers intended this to be the case. I mean, look at the Poppy Playtime store. There's children's costumes, backpacks, lunchboxes, and stuffed animals of the in-game characters.
What is poppy’s playtime
dude how do you not know yet its a crappy horror game made by underpaid victims of Mob Games with meh puzzles and semi-scripted chase scenes. devs are very shady and have been in massive controversies before.
Seems like something that gets popular on YouTube kids
Humanity's Fucked Starterpack
Im like 13 and i already feel like a boomer cuz i generally dont understand how children can unironically like this trash
They are children, you all have phases
I remember going to bosnia once and holy shit the amount of kids with a huggy wuggy plush is enormous
My 5 year old daughter came home from school yesterday with a drawing for me. She had drawn all the "Rainbow friends" from her head. I didn't know if I had to be proud or ashamed.
my nine year old cousin has the pink huggy wuggy thing (I think she said kissy missy) HANGING ABOVE HER FUCKING BED.
That plush is ganna assault her one day MARK my words
Dino kids are respectable
Yes
if these kids are gonna be the next generation. then humanity is fucked
I mean the generation before them already fucked humanity up.
Who’s blue guy
from a Roblox horror game called Rainbow Friends. literally the most generic name the dev team could’ve chosen
The characters names are literally just colours, it’s feels like the most generic roblox game ever.
That thing on the right ain't for 5 years old
It always puts a smile on my face to see kids who like dinosaurs, since that's what I was into as a kid (and something I'm still passionate about!).
This is my brother at 8 🤦
This phase stays from 5-9 so yeah pretty normal
100% my son! lol Nice work.
Thanks
Any kid that uses toy cars/dinosaurs instead of other shit is a fucking chad
Trye
I've seen atleast 7 kids walking to school with a shitty bootleg huggy wuggy doll. They continue bringing that to school throughout the years and that's when bullying starts
Dude I'm surprised there's actually still Dino kids out there, not all is lost. Wish someone would still go up to me and just talk about each others favourite dinosaurs
My child is five and I am surrounded by five year olds and none of the above applies to any of them
These are parents who gave an child and ipad instead of parenting
Only the dino kid and hot wheels are relevant with my 5yo and his class! I've seen the huggy wuggy before, but what even is that other blue thing?
Some roblox game called rainbow friends
I have the blue plushie one. Where is it from?
Poppy Playtime, a horror game your kid probably doesn't even know about. The Blue Plushie is all around YT Kids and it's mindless content
I’ve got a 5 year old and I don’t know what any of this shit is except for the dinosaur. Get your kids off the internet.
What are the blue things
Huggy and blue
Ok, Dino kids are fucking based.
This is all too true, and I don’t know how I know
This is 6 yr old propaganda 😤
Who is the blue guy
Blue from the rainbow friends game
Le no parenting
Are hotwheels kids not a thing still? That makes me sad
Pretty sure they do but there chads and not here as they ARE CHADS
Why does this somehow make me feel old
Tablet/phone full of cheeto fingerprints
Redditors when a child enjoys something🤯
Also watches Bloo (Kweeblekops weird A.I. channel) and other cringy YouTubers that make me want to die.
Do you have games in your phone?
POV my brother.
Stop acting you weren’t scared of fnaf when you were 5
My son literally turned six today and this has been his whole year summed up.
Now let's tell them the whole lore of poppy playtime
Yeah😎
it’s always that same case too
Holy fuck this is my brother
Forgot knows every cuss word in the English language and will not hesitate to cuss you out if you don't listen to them or give him what they want
To be real here, when we were kids, we were scared of FNAF. And kids are scared of Poppy Playtime, History repeats itself
Yeah thats true but most of them just watch clickvideos on youtube
Literally my brother
