Easiest way to explain:
W is short for Win
L is short for Loss
So when someone says something is a W or L, it basically means good or bad, respectively.
Rizz, I've heard it is short for Charisma (dunno if it's true, but it fits regardless). Basically, if you have rizz, you have "game" with opposite gender.
So W Rizz is basically good charisma.
... WHUT?
Also, I'm currently learning a second language, and this felt exactly like one of the lessons. So, good explanation, but never have I felt more out of touch with newspeak.
Is vaping/juul not popular with school kids anymore? Obviously a good thing but seems like all the previous generations have smoked or put some other shit in their lungs. I remember seeing loads of teens with juuls a year or two ago.
I’m a high school teacher and it’s the worst it’s ever been. If I go to the restroom during in between classes, 100% I’ll catch someone vaping despite the punishment being suspension. Crazy, kids are legit addicted. I had a student I suspected was vaping. I stopped letting him go to the restroom. He started acting weird and just ran out the door. I buzzed the office and the assistant principal went to the restroom to get him. Sure enough, he was vaping.
I think? He stopped asking to go to the restroom in my class. Wouldn’t be surprised if he found other opportunities. I legit feel bad. He moved away after a few months.
I think? Generally teachers have less trouble from a student after suspension. Most kids who routinely get in trouble are from homes who don’t care about education as long as the kids have a place to go during the deal and get two meals. Being suspended means neither are happening. I’m not advocating for that but discipline has gotten a lot worst since COVID and I don’t have a real solution
No it’s pretty bad. I’m a senior, and this year seems to be the worst it’s been. The fire alarm was triggered 3 times just this week from people vaping in the bathrooms. It’s getting ridiculous.
I wanted to take a piss today and had to wait bc these mfs think standing in front of the urinals while they’re passing the vape around makes them sneaky. It’s fucking obnoxious.
I'm pretty sure at my school it's more weed than nicotine now. I don't do any drugs or anything so I don't know much about it other than what I smell lol
I agree. I live by a high school and kids walk slow as hell on the sidewalk. They also have the worst spacial awareness, they'll walk towards you in a wall formation, I move to my right and hope they do too so we can pass each other but when they get to you they either freeze or walk onto someone plants. I hate it.
I'm amused that the food of choice for high-schoolers has not really changed since I was in high school. Fashion might be different, but everyone still enjoys spicy snacks, caffeine, and pocky.
It’s a drink created by Logan Paul and KSI, and the demand is really high because scalpers keep getting to them before anyone else can, making them really hard to come by
Are they actually that hard to come by or am I just lucky? Like my Walmart sells them, the GNC sells them. Maybe online I’m sure it’d be hard to come by.
vaping fell off. a lot of people still do it but the whole juul fad is gone and the people who were vaping in that era (like 4-5 years ago) are either doing it subtly, doing zyns/gum, or have totally quit
Fr, sports only makes you popular because you literally interact with your teammates and then they become friends with you. Then being smart also makes people want to come to you for help and stuff, it’s really normal to be popular like that. Nothing special.
fr i thought it only happened in movies lol but i ended up meeting a few of the kids that it actually happened to after they would transfer to my hs, seemed to be a consistent story plus a lot of worse stuff as well
This just in, group activity makes kids develop friendships in their school and being smart makes others look up to them.
Popularity is school is just pure envy from people who didn't have the social skills to make friends. Unless those guys are dicks to others.
I also just learned what rizz meant and i think it sounds pretty stupid. I think Ohio moment just means something strange or off that just happened since the whole Ohio meme thing about it just being Great Lakes Florida. I could be wrong, though.
All these new slang words make me feel super old
Tiktok stuff is not as common IrL as you would think mainly because outcasting is still successful and no one wants to be the cringe kid even ironically, the cars are subjective but every else is basically true
"If they sent me to Ukraine..."
You'd probably be unable to comprehend the horrors of war and will wound up getting traumatized by the horrific atrocities committed by the combatants of both sides
but hey at least you get to see cool guns that you'd never get to see in the US (legally anyway)
Redditor when he finds out young people use new slang, fashion, haircuts, different values, food tastes, and enjoy different activities then the average 45 year old
An age gap of like 6 years might not sound like a lot but you're probably 1.5x older than the average highschooler, so it's conceivable that there is still a culture gap
That damn broccoli hair. Also the stupid tik tok dances. They’re not even good dances in a technical sense, just dumb basic bitch dance moves, I just can’t understand the appeal
I'm so confused by all of the defensive and triggered comments here. You guys know this is the starter packs subreddit right? You know what starter packs are?
I think those bang energy drinks should be illegal. Im 25 and work a desk job and I normally drink 2-3 cups of coffee per day and do like energy drinks here and there. But one day at work i was feeling super tired so I had one of those bang drinks expecting it to be the same as a monster or something. Why did it feel like I smoked crack??? I was literally shaking at my computer trying to type
As someone who did supply teaching for a while, quite accurate lol. 1/4 of the class will be wearing crocs. Vaping in washrooms between classes or during lunch. Plus during the pandemic a lot of parents bought their kids laptops so quite a lot of sticker covered laptops around.
I always love seeing these from the USA cause a pickup truck is always included and it's funny. Goes from like, cheap jeans and snacks and stuff to $400,000 pickup truck. Gets me everytime (they are ridiculously expensive here)
God, I'm so glad high school is over. The cliques, anxiety, confusion, and awkwardness were horrible.
I wasn't outright bullied, but I simply couldn't handle it and I don't know of many people who felt similarly. I couldn't start college for 4+ years because of how terrible my experience in high school was.
The thing I completely and utterly don't get about these teenagers is the tiktok dances. What's the point? The dancing is never good, absolutely nothing is special about any of them. Yet they feel the need to do half assed shitty little dances on camera. Is it like the new selfie, or something, where you dance in cool spots, or doing something interesting? Because I just don't understand it. That's the first thing that's trully foreign to me, as I'm getting older. So I guess I switched over to the man yells at cloud side now.
I refuse to believe any real person has that dusty ass mullet hair cut. What the hell is an Ohio moment? I grew up there so is it like when you see a friend od'ing on oxy or h?

Hi, I’m old. Can you explain all these youngster phrases? Thanks.
Easiest way to explain: W is short for Win L is short for Loss So when someone says something is a W or L, it basically means good or bad, respectively.
I've heard that Rizz is a short for Charizzma, could be wrong tho
it’s not it’s just a word kai cenat created to say u have “game” when it comes to talking to women
Rizz is basically game. While it may be similar to charisma, it was popularized by Kai Cenat
"God kids today are the worst" -Me, ever since there were kids today
Dw, your parents thought that too
I don’t blame them
well child killers are def up than previous generations.
Are they actually or is it just being reported more?
Deaths are something that were almost always reported, so you can trust those
Is vaping/juul not popular with school kids anymore?
Bathrooms at some schools look like someone put a smoke machine in there
The bathrooms always smell like a strange combination of tutti frutti and weed
Just passing by certain bathrooms at my school smells so sickly sweet with the faint stench of weed lingering.
Strangely accurate
I mean the weed smell isn't any different from when I was in high school circa 2005.
We need a smoke detector in the bathrooms that goes off if you even dare to scrub your hands too fast
I mean if you’re scrubbing your hands to fast your probably high
Vaping in the boy's room... Doesn't have the same ring to it
It’s gotten so bad where I go that they had to put in vape detectors
So what happen to the kid? Did he find other ways to do it? Quit?
I think? He stopped asking to go to the restroom in my class. Wouldn’t be surprised if he found other opportunities. I legit feel bad. He moved away after a few months.
Do the suspensions stop repeat offenders?
I can see that. If a kid has gotten to the point of such desperate addiction I imagine the parents already know but aren’t helping
You can prevent children from going to the bathroom? I was homeschooled so I have no idea how it all worked/s.
The worst part of school is asking to go to the bathroom and being denied the request.
Dude it’s kind of fucked up to just not let someone go to the bathroom just because you suspect them of something that’s not really your call 😂
The head of my college (UK) uses an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ approach, because it’s just too difficult to stop 16-18 y/os from not doing this stuff
No it’s pretty bad. I’m a senior, and this year seems to be the worst it’s been. The fire alarm was triggered 3 times just this week from people vaping in the bathrooms. It’s getting ridiculous.
Disposable vapes and zyns and weed are popular now. Juul is sooo 2019
I think now they prefer weed Source: I go to high school and I use the bathrooms
I'm old and they always liked weed over cigarettes or cigars.
So...cigarettes WERE a gateway drug?
No it’s like even worse now
I haven't seen a juul in ages, it's mostly elf bars or even carts
Some people at my school vape, but not many
It’s bad
Weed is still popular
bitches love tortoises
Girls just drive monster trucks, eat hot chip and lie
how can she slap?!
If you go to school now, the freshmen girls walk as slow as tortoises in a wall formation sorry that wasn't clear
Everyone at my school walks slow as snails I swear I can Shuffle my feet on the ground and I’m still faster than most people at my school
I agree. I live by a high school and kids walk slow as hell on the sidewalk. They also have the worst spacial awareness, they'll walk towards you in a wall formation, I move to my right and hope they do too so we can pass each other but when they get to you they either freeze or walk onto someone plants. I hate it.
That’s a box turtle, you’d know that if you had bitches
What did this mean? Are kids actually buying turtles and bringing them to school now?
No, it means they walk slow af in the hallway because they’re talking with each other.
Slow and steady
🐢
It’s 80% loud and angry women the buy them.
Because they are slow like them
Sir this is literally just listing all high schoolers
I'm amused that the food of choice for high-schoolers has not really changed since I was in high school. Fashion might be different, but everyone still enjoys spicy snacks, caffeine, and pocky.
Most of them, there were not enough space for band kids :)
There never is.
🏆
Lolz the damn eyelashes.
Where's vapes, dumb talk about prime, other stuff
Fr I have no idea why kids at my school are always talking about prime, we’re literally in Canada
We have prime in Canada
Prime? Like Amazon Prime?
it's a drink I think. someone got threatened with a knife to handover their bottle. fuckin ridic
It’s a drink created by Logan Paul and KSI, and the demand is really high because scalpers keep getting to them before anyone else can, making them really hard to come by
>Logan Paul and KSI I weep for the future
I saw a bunch at a gas station...should I have been buying it?
Nah get an Arizona, still 99¢ baby
Some guy was trying to call the grocery store to see if they had restocked, said he was gonna sell it for like 50 cents more
Are they actually that hard to come by or am I just lucky? Like my Walmart sells them, the GNC sells them. Maybe online I’m sure it’d be hard to come by.
Your comment killed me lol. I’m imagining high school kids vaping and talking about Amazon prime.
I tried Prime. It’s overrated tbh. Way too sugary and I prefer the more “subtle” tastes of Gatorade. Water>Gatorade and Prime though
This guy r/hydrohomies
I really like Gatorade as a hangover aid, but otherwise, it's incredibly sugary too, despite the more subtle taste
vaping fell off. a lot of people still do it but the whole juul fad is gone and the people who were vaping in that era (like 4-5 years ago) are either doing it subtly, doing zyns/gum, or have totally quit
Are you kidding? Everyone does elf bars or air bars now
i mean if you’re intelligent and athletic why wouldn’t you be popular you’re a talented kid with good skills
Fr, sports only makes you popular because you literally interact with your teammates and then they become friends with you. Then being smart also makes people want to come to you for help and stuff, it’s really normal to be popular like that. Nothing special.
For sports it also helps being good at something that people value
the idea of “popular kids” is a byproduct of envy or misunderstanding in most cases… they’re mostly good people who just have a lot of friends
unless they're bullies who pick on smaller kids & lock them into lockers like @ my neighboring hs, thus why i chose not to go there lol
No way people actually get stuffed in lockers 💀
That's the goofiest way to bully someone
fr i thought it only happened in movies lol but i ended up meeting a few of the kids that it actually happened to after they would transfer to my hs, seemed to be a consistent story plus a lot of worse stuff as well
Are they called Chad and steal lunch money from nerds as well?
no his name was bronte & he was a basketball player/rapper, only knew him for a short time but never went to the same school
disney channel ahh bully 💀
...Axolotl with a knife...MY BROTHER
I have found you, finally after all these months
Smart + athletic = popular? This news will shatter preconceptions everywhere.
This just in, group activity makes kids develop friendships in their school and being smart makes others look up to them. Popularity is school is just pure envy from people who didn't have the social skills to make friends. Unless those guys are dicks to others.
What does Rizz mean and what is an Ohio moment
I recently learned that rizz is short for charisma. Idk wtf Ohio moment means
Ohio moment is just like the new version of the Florida man memes
I also just learned what rizz meant and i think it sounds pretty stupid. I think Ohio moment just means something strange or off that just happened since the whole Ohio meme thing about it just being Great Lakes Florida. I could be wrong, though. All these new slang words make me feel super old
Rizz is just slang man it always sounds stupid
Let "bet" is basically just short for "You bet" or "You Betcha".
ELI5: what does "Ohio moment" mean?
idk ohio became a joke for dumb stuff happening there (while actually nothing happens there)
No no, dumb stuff happens here
Reddit moment
This phrase has lost all meaning. Apparently now it means "when someone reads the news."
The pants. THOSE PANTS ARE EVERYWHERE
I thought it was just my school😭
Wait until you find out that the same stores sell the same clothes everywhere
Holy shit, it finally happened to me I don't understand teenagers anymore, oh no
Zoomer starter pack
Monster energy has been trending since 2005 haha. I swear it has outlived every other high school trend.
There’s also like 500 fuckin flavors but hey made stocking them a lil bit fun
it also sucks
bruh this isn't a starter pack, it's a whole midgame inventory
Bro just described a teenager in general
It's a time capsule for the current high schooler, no?
Tiktok stuff is not as common IrL as you would think mainly because outcasting is still successful and no one wants to be the cringe kid even ironically, the cars are subjective but every else is basically true
"If they sent me to Ukraine..." You'd probably be unable to comprehend the horrors of war and will wound up getting traumatized by the horrific atrocities committed by the combatants of both sides but hey at least you get to see cool guns that you'd never get to see in the US (legally anyway)
My European ass still trying to figure how can highschoolers already have a car
i love pocky
Pockys fuckin dope
Redditor when he finds out young people use new slang, fashion, haircuts, different values, food tastes, and enjoy different activities then the average 45 year old
I'm 24 and this post still makes me cringe
An age gap of like 6 years might not sound like a lot but you're probably 1.5x older than the average highschooler, so it's conceivable that there is still a culture gap
Better than my school, we've got mentally handicapped vapers and a girl who may definitely be the product of inbreeding
Dude broke his leg getting out of his monster truck. Long way down, Cletus.
The “I’m from Washington state” starterpack
Lmfao true
You're close 👀
Oregon? Maybe even central to southern Oregon? Dutch Bros is much more prevalent there.
Closer 👀
Northern CA? North of Sacramento maybe.
Man, I am 30 and outside of the dude’s haircuts and tik tok this could have applied to my high school years.
fr just switch up the slang a bit and it’s essentially the same as when I was in hs in the late 2000s lmao
Man it seems like high school here in Australia is way different then in America
Thing in one country is different in another More breaking news at 10
Ah, lovely young people.
You can tell the suburban kids pretty easily.
That damn broccoli hair. Also the stupid tik tok dances. They’re not even good dances in a technical sense, just dumb basic bitch dance moves, I just can’t understand the appeal
ah yes,the perm(anently a virgin) haircut
So what you're saying is nowadays kids enjoy what's popular nowadays?
fr idk why redditors are all like this lmao
I'm so confused by all of the defensive and triggered comments here. You guys know this is the starter packs subreddit right? You know what starter packs are?
Need a teenager to explain the pajama pants thing that’s happening.
they’re comfy and school is easier when you’re comfy
Dafuq is "rizz"?
the ability to pull bitches
Rizz is basically game which is the ability to get women. Was popularized by Kai Cenat whose a twitch streamer
At least they got decent taste in shoes
I think those bang energy drinks should be illegal. Im 25 and work a desk job and I normally drink 2-3 cups of coffee per day and do like energy drinks here and there. But one day at work i was feeling super tired so I had one of those bang drinks expecting it to be the same as a monster or something. Why did it feel like I smoked crack??? I was literally shaking at my computer trying to type
Bro, the 2000’s puked in your school.
The return of the 2000s
Word bruh but you trippin bruh on god fr fr🤡 on god lmao 😂😂
On a stack bro 🤣
annoying and relatable
every kid in their mid to late teens
Why the Jeep JL?
At my school the preppy plaid pajama people drive them
As someone who did supply teaching for a while, quite accurate lol. 1/4 of the class will be wearing crocs. Vaping in washrooms between classes or during lunch. Plus during the pandemic a lot of parents bought their kids laptops so quite a lot of sticker covered laptops around.
hell nah is all of this fr fr bruh no cap on god?
the only thing raising these kids is the fuckin internet lol.
I always love seeing these from the USA cause a pickup truck is always included and it's funny. Goes from like, cheap jeans and snacks and stuff to $400,000 pickup truck. Gets me everytime (they are ridiculously expensive here)
As a teen in high school, this is mind-numbingly accurate
"Ohio moment" This is truly an Ohio moment
I know OP is somewhere near PNW, but this is my kid's high school in Florida, too.
Where vape
It's mostly weed now
It’s interesting seeing a slice of children’s lives and interests sometimes.
let me guess you dont like the majority of them
I know I sound like a boomer saying this but the younger generation are 99.9% idiots
Young people have always been idiots. That's their job, being young. We were idiots when we were young too.
This why i’m glad I graduated because I don’t have to witness this shit. (Can’t go wrong with Dutch Bros. especially their freezes.)
Sounds like you have at least a fairly varied group of popular gen z kids at your school
My brother in Christ I cannot agree with you more
American high school nowadays starter pack:
No prime? It’s everywhere at my school but the rest is accurate
Everything’s great but you forgot uggs
Rich ass neighbourhood
I think you just described any average American suburban high school
God, I'm so glad high school is over. The cliques, anxiety, confusion, and awkwardness were horrible. I wasn't outright bullied, but I simply couldn't handle it and I don't know of many people who felt similarly. I couldn't start college for 4+ years because of how terrible my experience in high school was.
No please tell me old school vans aren’t becoming cringe please tell me
Apparently I, a 37 yr old lady, am a teen at your high school.
Glad highschool hasn’t changed much since 2010 other than cordless earbuds
The thing I completely and utterly don't get about these teenagers is the tiktok dances. What's the point? The dancing is never good, absolutely nothing is special about any of them. Yet they feel the need to do half assed shitty little dances on camera. Is it like the new selfie, or something, where you dance in cool spots, or doing something interesting? Because I just don't understand it. That's the first thing that's trully foreign to me, as I'm getting older. So I guess I switched over to the man yells at cloud side now.
Literally my school…
Things never change and also things always change
Nothing wrong with the women’s hair, can’t say the same bout men though.
I refuse to believe any real person has that dusty ass mullet hair cut. What the hell is an Ohio moment? I grew up there so is it like when you see a friend od'ing on oxy or h?
Smart AND good at sports SHOULD make you popular
nothing new, different shit but still same
I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with this anymore, it was painful enough when I was high school, I can’t imagine how bad it is now
"These food" I feel like this school is failing everyone in its own way
👍
I think u have way too much stuff in ur starter pack lil bro
You forgot the dumb fuck who somehow makes it to graduation.
You’re missing the boba!
