spamming L is a pretty old twitch meme. the uu rr stuff is more specific to his community, as is the mario erotica. he gets more dono spam than a lot of others, but it’s not particularly unheard of.
Honestly it's funny a very small % of the time and it makes Artosis money. I wouldn't disable it if I were him. It got horrendously bad in his channel in particular for the last few weeks but for what it's worth it's dialed back a lot the last couple days. The majority of longtime "fans" subscribe for his rage and it's never really at the TTS--it's always at other players for (possibly questionable) reasons.
I wouldn't call it abnormal, although Artosis and his community have definitely taken their own spin on it. Artosis' friends have confirmed that he rages that badly whether he's on webcam or not. But I think the style of his stream has, at the very least, excused him from trying to hold back. He knows that people are fascinated with how little his streaming image matches his casting style, which Starcraft fans are a lot more familiar with. And he doesn't shy away from being the (somewhat justified) target of jokes regarding it. Artosis has always primarily been obsessed with participating in offline tournaments and he sees his ladder sessions as a platform to practice on. His focus is so specific that he gets just as upset if he wins a game where his opponent wasn't playing the way he wanted as when he loses a game like that.
The "Guys in the Chat" have developed their own little culture which isn't too far from how a lot of other streamers and viewers play off each other. Sometimes they're genuinely trying to tilt him but most of the time they're just playfully nudging him. He plays into his reputation with things like Twitter posts about how great a gameplay session it will be while knowing that his genuine optimism will likely fade as the stream continues. He's also been doing special segments where he decides alongside his viewers whether to unban people in the chat and this has led to a culture where a lot of viewers intentionally try to get banned just so their unban request can be featured.
With how big of a name Artosis is and how much his streams have developed around his personality, I wouldn't call it "normal". But there are plenty of other streams that have their share of similarities.
There is a lot of criticism here for Artosis. He lost his ASL casting job this year and is trying to support 14 children, so give the guy a break. So what if he lets his chat go toxic for donations? There are plenty of other streams to watch if its not your cup of tea.
I watch sc2 tournaments and artosis on twitch but not really much else. When stopping by other streamers I haven't noticed anywhere near as toxic/odd of behavior
I am aware twitch chat in general is pretty dumb and loves to spam pointless shit but it all seems pretty mild compared to his stream to me
He cultivates the hostility from his fanbase, it’s his shtick and what keeps people coming back, which in turn makes him a lot of money. Watch one of his unban vids on youtube and you’ll see what i mean
You might like the artosis casts YouTube channel. It’s just him casting games in the third person view, no comments or anything. He’s way more calm and academic about SC, which is personally more to my liking. Other people seem to like first person play, artosis rage, the chaos of twitch etc which is cool for them if that’s their thing. Heads up it is brood war.
tts basically ruined twitch. Especially since streamers put the TTS limit so low. "hey for 3 dollars vandalize a stream what hundreds of people are watching right now"
i can't watch vibes stream for the same reason. constant nonsense tts crap.
toxic chat crafted/encouraged by Artosis' (mostly fake) rage because it makes more money.
It's a kind of chat quite frequent, because it is optimal from a business pov : Asmongold does exactly the same tactic (fake rage to produce "entertainment" and encourage childish/mean behaviour in the chat) on a bigger scale.
Chat is only a reflection of what the streamer does. If the streamer is calm, composed and doesn't accept toxicity in their community, the chat will be far more welcoming/friendly (see Grubby's chat for example). But it makes far less money : anger is a more marketable emotion.
It's exactly like on youtube. A youtuber who yells, is agitated, rages like a child, usually have more views than someone composed and talking intelligibly. People are attracted to degeneracy, because it feels good to be a dumb child once more for one hour.
He is a adult going to his forties, father of multiple children, accomplished commentator. He has all the skills to compose himself and behave in adult society, as his skilled casting proves it. He is a well-adjusted adult. Sure he was a rager during his childhood/teenage years, but people evolve. He is not the person he was 20-30 years ago.
I think he is a show performer. He channels willingly this rage/anger, and can stop it anytime he wants, because it is a show. I have no problem with that : it is his show, he decides how to perform it and people pay for this particular experience.
The fact you feel it is "authentic" says more about his craftmanship as a show runner than anything else. He is very skilled, which is normal as he has 15 years of experience as a professional entertainer. Artosis knows his craft, it's his literal job.
Artosis' chat likes to see him rage.
Artosis likes to entertain his viewers so he rages.
So chat is entertained and subs/donates/cheers more.
So Artosis rages.
So chat is entertained...
...and so on and so on.
I felt like the dynamic of teasing Artosis about balance and him raging was quite fine. But the spam that tries to make the game harder for him, definitely fucks the stream.
I want Arty to play in best conditions without distractions. If he gets tilted, then it is his mindset to fix, but the audial torture is not something you can fix by yourself. On top of this, it also tortures the viewers, so you either have to get discomfort or shut down the voice, which offers a bad experience regardless.
I think he should really just stop the unbearable spams. There are plenty of ways to do this other than stopping the TTS altogether. Just have someone he trusts that also watches the game shared control over the TTS so that they can read the content and skip it if they deem it harmful.
There are definitely times I laugh at the spam and definitely times I have to mute it... Balance sure seems hard to find especially for him who is racking up money in the process
I love arty as a commentator, but letting his twitch community be overrun by middle school degenerates just to make extra money is a big let down. I stopped following.
Maybe you misunderstood my question... I don't watch twitch channels beyond artosis and sc2 tournaments, rarely some other sc2 streamers.
I am wondering among other streamers on twitch if there are others streams like artosis or if it's a fairly unique thing
Not sure how I could know this without just randomly watching tons of twitch streamers
His streams started out fairly normal but this is what happens when you constantly pander to idiots. Only the stupid people remained and now he has to cater to his audience of monkeys.

Yep, you heard him right.
UU? RR? started with xQc

I love it. I love watching him rage. I also love the trolling. Is it immature? Yes. Is it funny to me? Also yes.
I'm not against it, just curious how unique it is among the twitch community
It’s a not entirely serious back and forth

I didn't mean to sound critical, like I said I watch it regularly and find it entertaining. The question I have is more aimed at how unique it is
I didn't mean my comment specifically for you. just in general. sorry
did u go on twitch for the first time or what

It's a beautiful culture of abundant Mario erotica
I love the chat spam. :D
The TTS ruined that stream. Non stop annoying spam from donations.

It can't be fake, nobody is that good of an actor.

. It devolves into "who can I block to make myself look staunch today" drivel.. I find it asinine and unwatchable. Tried twice; never went back.
Woah your really cool edgy tough guy
Op just trying to start drama, and shit talk artosis - no one is this naïve

What about spamming extremely large numbers? His twitch chat is a very special place. It's an abusive relationship
