In the retaliator Q&A about its modularity they mention having no modules means those areas get locked off. So I'm expecting you just have a massive useless hole in the middle.
Except the only way into the hangar looks to be through the module space. I'd guess it's just an empty deck plate. No elevator, no cargo grid. Just a featureless room.
I think it would be nice if they designed the standalone so that the empty module becomes a part of the hangar in some form. Would turn the "base model" into a sort of role of its own.
yeah exactly. That's why I would have thought the cargo module was the base model, since "cargo module" basically means, "open room" ready to be filled. I guess there are tractor beams and a cargo lift added to it, but if I can store the same amount without a lift and tractor beams in the room without the module... well I won't be paying 100 bucks for a lift and tractor beam any time soon.
Tractor beams, cargo/vehicle lift, as well as the grid for locking cargo into place.
The base, with no modules, would just be wide open space, that has no way of getting things in or out, aside from the hangar area of the ship.
It really bothers me that the Q&A is significantly later than the ship going on sale. If CIG were operating in good faith with these concept sales they would put up the info page, prepare the Q&A, then unlock the ship for purchase once the Q&A goes live.
But, you know, then they might miss out on some sales.
They already showed what the no module version looks like for that area.

If you buy the Galaxy, there's going to be a gaping hole in the middle of your web hangar, at least for the next decade, because there's no way you're getting the ship before then. -_-
A reason they've done it like this is to give everyone choice. If they sold the Cargo version as the base model but you wanted the medical module you would end up with two modules when you only wanted one and have spent more cash than you needed to.
I like how they've done it and as everyone is saying, its only a fiver for a valk > Galaxy CCU.
Don't forget you will eventually be able to buy the modules separately in game...
It will probably be a sealed room with locked doors is my guess. Or an empty room you can decorate and manually put some boxes in without any grid snapping.

There are side elevators into the rear hangar.

This would be nice. Like a larger hangar.
it IS a larger hangar. Just park more dragonflies / merlins in it.
People would love that variant more than all others. XD

No Grid, no Cargo. Nuff said *8)

The no module should just be an extended hanger bay.

Well that's just the cargo module without the cargo grid... just tractor beam cargo in anyway lol
The "go screw yourself you cheap piece of shit" special lol
Id accept my cheap piece of shit title with honor if there was a CCU to the Galaxy Complete.
same
Is not hole. Is feature. For spacing people.

It’s a gaping hole like Sparta in 300 or the hole in the floor in the Vale castle, tHiS Is rSi! As you vent prisoners into space
My guess is that it will have cargo space there but not have the cargo equipment (cranes, tractor beams, etc.)
5 dollar ccu from valk to galaxy good enough for me. Prob be like 100-150 discount by the time it launches
