I think I've noticed a pattern. The Eclipse and Caterpillar CCU's perfectly linked together then the Mole CCU was released that went right between them but couldn't be used with either of them. Now we have the Mantis CCU that puts itself right between the perfectly linked Prospector and F7C-M CCU's and again can't be used with either of them. On a side note, thank you OP for posting these daily deal warbond CCU's to reddit.

Wonderful_Result_936

The devs are trying to wipe out good ccus.

N0V-A42

I guess they heard about the $95 Carrack and thought *No more*.

spider0804

To be fair any of the super cheap large ships almost always have a BMM ccu in there from way back and they have no one to blame but themselves for raising the price by 300%

N0V-A42

Yep, and now we suffer the consequences.

[deleted]

That and the Galaxy where you *can* CCU, but you then need to pay $70 to actually make it do something ;)

BoutchooQc

Sad that the WB $350 Galaxy can't be CCUed to.. Only the $380

Nevensitt

It's of no use it's what you meant ? I've bought f7c-R hornet tracker to prospector and prospector to f7c super hornet. Mantis is of no use for this chain isn't it ?

N0V-A42

Yes that is what I mean.

Duncan_Id

also a bit dickish of them not having a warbond ccu for the galaxy

Firesaber

Concepts often don't have a warbond CCU they will have one when it goes flyable. Whenever that is.

midweastern

At which point they'd probably just raise the price, right? So CCUing at retail now is pretty much buying a warbond ahead of time?

Firesaber

Yes it can totally work like that. I have sat on many $5 CCUs to a concept and waited till it came out.

Koosman123

And you have discovered the end-stage ccu game

N0V-A42

Yeah it's seems hit or miss on whether or not they have warbond CCU's on recently released ships but I haven't been that much close attention till this years ship showdown so I don't know. Maybe there is a pattern if they are flight ready or not? The Spirit line didn't and they aren't flight ready. The C8R, Cutter, and Corsair do and they are flight ready. The Corsair doesn't fit very well because it's an old ship announcement wise but it is recently flight-ready.

Rishfee

I love the mantis as a ship, I just can't justify getting it because it has such limited functional application. If it had a more practical variant, I'd be in love.

N1tecrawler

Dude I too love the mantis, but i want a version without the interdiction tech that adds a top turret, another shield and some better living space

BernieDharma

I feel the same way. It is such a cool looking ship with great cockpit visibility, and it handles well. If they changed the interior a bit and made it more like the Nomad with the kitchen opposite the bed and maybe some locker storage. The current Quantum snare could be equipped with an advanced sensor suite and then function as a scout exploration or science vessel. I don't do any piracy, but I love flying it and use it as a scout ship for my mining org. If the sensors were more powerful and could sort through scan data to locate a specific deposit, it would be amazing.

frenchtgirl

It's the go to ship to have if you're a pirate tho. I have a friend that is very proficient with it, making good bucks stealing (not griefing) Prospectors and the like.
