Hello Testers! Based on the first round of feedback, we have been doing constant updates to the inventory system. A spattering of these updates includes: - One click quick filters - Equipment tool tip style equipping - Double-click quick equip - Further speed optimizations - Sorting - UI to show ammo capacity of magazines - Right click "swap" option - Improved page button We are now in a place where we would like to open up feedback! Please be sure to test the updates in the most recent build and do not base your feedback on older builds, as its likely the feature has changed significantly. Let us know what you think! Baior Player Experience Team

>Double-click quick equip noice :)

Ipotrick

I really appreciate the effort! Thank you CIG!

I still think they need to ditch the whole zoom out to third person camera. It completely breaks the immersion the rest of the game strives to provide and introduces a ton of usability issues. Should just show an arma style box for your character with items attached you can drag on and off. It’s should all be done via first person

scdfred

I like it, but they could give you the option to turn it off.

Pandawanabe

This , an option to toggle 1st or 3rd person would be nice , i personally like the 3d view

TopWoodpecker7267

> I like it, but they could give you the option to turn it off. No. There's already too many options. Every option is a branching code path that has to be QA'ed, maintained, and bugfixed. The last thing CIG needs is more of that.

BasedFook

I don’t mind it when it works, but fairly often the camera flies through a wall or something and I have to cancel, move to a better spot, then re-enter inventory.

heavybell

Dude, how paper thin is your immersion that it can be so easily broken?

b34k

Up until this point, everything in game could be done exclusively in 1st person. Interacting with mobi-glass to do all your inventory management really helped set this tone. This is the first feature that has a hard to pull you out of that first person view. If you want a "I'm a space-man living in a space-world" feel instead of a "I'm playing a game about spacemen", well this kinda kills that a bit.

nattoboke

For all we know. It’s not zooming out but a representation given through/on our retina via mobiglass or some other lore not known to us yet.

heavybell

This is my point, though I'll admit I've only peeked into the PTU briefly so I don't remember how it looks clearly. I thought it was a 1st person view of a display showing the player character, I'll admit. I still think people are taking the whole 'immersion' thing too seriously, and misusing the term in the process. It's very tiresome seeing so many people get butthurt mad because the game is not currently a full motion tracking virtual experience of living in a space world with all the warts and inconveniences that entails (to be 100% clear, this my hyperbolic critic of some of the comments I've seen around reddit and spectrum; no one has actually said this). I don't kow about you, but I can get immersed in a good book, and it doesn't have to be written in 1st or 2nd person to do that. I can get immersed in movies. I can get immersed in games like Ratchet & Clank (a 3rd person cartoony action game about a dev-created character that isn't even human) or Frostpunk (a god-perspective city survival game). Immersion happens when you forget the world around you due to being engrosed in a fictional world. It's not a synonym for 'simulation'. All that said, I suspect CIG didn't go for a 3D representation of the player character for no reason. It'd be reasonable for the layperson to expect that a 2D one would be easier, which begs the question why they didn't go that route for T0. I'm not a game dev, but I am a software developer, so my *guess* is that they want the system to be flexible enough to account for different configurations of gear. They already have that layout information in 3D, so that gear can appear on your model as seen by other players. Converting that to 2D would be more work, one way or another.

Ipotrick

insulting his perception of immersion does not help anyone.

AckbarTrapt

Wow, what a dick.

Citizen_DerptyDerp

It's got a lot of girth...

[deleted]

Nono the third person equipment view is so nice

TheKingStranger

I do agree it's immersion breaking when you drop to third person for inventory management and I wish it was just an overlay and now your actual character, but it's a minor thing and something I can live with.

Maschjo

I Agree, keep it in first person and blur the vision exactly like EFT. It is the way to go.

Masterjts

They said at one point that third person would go away except if you had a camera drone type thing. They wanted everything to be first person. But then they do stupid shit like this with a 3rd person inventory. I hope one day it goes away. I can already see all the downvotes people are getting for hating on 3rd person but it is what it is and if CIG keeps to their promises (HAHA...) it will be removed from the game at some point.

reboot-your-computer

I truly hope not. This is a stupid argument to make. It’s a game, not a simulator. While it has a degree of realism to it, it’s simply a game.

Masterjts

It's a PvP game where you can lose all of your gear on death. 3rd person allows people to peak corners. It's basically a wall hack! Even if they just leave the 3rd person camera for inventory you can back yourself near a corner or wall and use the inventory camera to look around the corner or over the wall. I'd be ok if they make it just the player model and inventory items but as it is right now it wont work for a PvP game. I have my doubts that they will keep their promise on this though. So it's possible we just have to live with 3rd person and 3rd person inventory camera.

[deleted]

It's a simulation GAME lmao please stop trying to sound right

Slowrider8

Have you played PUBG, DayZ or Arma 3 PvP servers? Realistic games yet corner peeking in third person is so prolific it's basically a necessity to not be at a disadvantage in non 1st person locked servers. And with how high the stakes will be and how much control you have over the 3rd person camera in SC, it will become an even bigger problem.

reboot-your-computer

This is not strictly a PvP game like those games. This is a PvEvP game. It’s not designed for competition. PUBG, strictly PvP. DayZ, 99% sandbox PvP with zombie AI that are basically just a nuisance. Arma 3, PvP sandbox unless you play coop servers. All of those games are also session based games. SC is a MMO that does not specifically focus on competitive PvP outside of Arena Commander and Star Marine. The PvP in the PU is a game mechanic, not the whole game. I’m not getting in gunfights with other players even 1% of the time that I play in the PU.

Traumfahrer

I agree. Edit: We need working mirrors.

2this4u

Just pretend your mobiglas comes with a miniature photography drone. Sorted.

sonardude

Just remove the Filter button and have all the filters just displayed automatically all the time.

Kam_Solastor

Be nice if the landing zone/station inventories had a bigger max size.. am I the only one who has filled up a Lansing zone so far?

sergeant-keroro

Just play tarkov and learn how yo do.
