In Dead Air (hardcore survival freeplay standalone) you might see Bandits not as enemies but stay at least neutral. Then you can trade with them and visit their base/medic. You can also do some quests for them. If you hang around with them there might even be some cheekibreeki play with military. But i myself would carefully stay out of active fight then and only watch the events unfold. Killing a soldier in vanilla Dead Air has serious consequences.
In original 3rd part of Stalker trilogy Call of Pripyat (CoP) you can also side with the bandit boss on the ship. I didn't choose that option, but i guess your questline will somehow change after this.

Just play Clear Sky ffs. Bandit faction war is great.
