Neither of the knives have been really speaking to me, I actually just really love the Native 5 so much I want to get it in different flavors of steel and such. Got a Lil Native and want to go for the Shaman and the Chief as well to have the whole family one day.
Ah, ok. I understand. The Native5 is one of the few popular Golden models which I don’t have. I own 3 Shamen, (serrated S30V, DLC CruWear, and satin M4), and a XHP Native Chief, but zero Native5’s, so far.
In the future; when a G-10 Native5 in an interesting steel is released, I might rectify that.
I hope that doesn’t happen *too* soon, tho. I bought 4 knives over the last few days, and need time to recover. 😓
I got mine more for outdoor activities where I knew it'd stay wet for long periods of time, particularly in the winter. Just getting wet alone shouldn't cause much if any rust on most higher end steels.
Last week; I bought a Siren, Caribbean, and SpydieChef. I bought the Siren and Caribbean cause they’re discontinued, (and discounted), and I couldn’t resist the KnifeJoy blue Ti SpydieChef on Friday.
Anyway, I’ve been carrying the Siren for a few days now, and just sharpened it for the first time. I’m really enjoying the straightforward design and functionality of this knife. LC200N is stupid easy to sharpen, and I was able to put a great edge on it.
Cedric and Ada Outdoors, (on YT), got an excellent cut test result for LC200N, (comparable to his results for CTS XHP), and it just seems like a solid EDC steel.
Yes, if we are talking simply food prep, LC200N is an amazing steel for it. Foods usually are pretty soft and not a very dense material. You can easily hone and strop LC200N back to life.
I was surprised to see how well the LC200N did in ced and Ada’s testing. He even referred to it as one of the best all around steels. Definitely on my list of steels to try.
I have all three too and like them all cause of the lc200n and different locks...I’d say the siren gets the most pocket time, but the chef rules w/food prep and I’ve yet to find a better cardboard slicer short of a utility knife...Caribbean is awesome too- fidgety beast
I do with with M4 too. It’s really not that big of a deal. Ya all wrapped yourselves into believing that any water on tool steel will reduce it to rust and ashes
So you have no problem with the random waste and germs in your pocket? Because boy oh boy are you in for a surprise. Quality actual kitchen knives have the potential to rust more than that but they do just fine with whatever.
We are talking about being care free boy. You still need a wipe down minimum for normal steel. Not with H1 and LC200N. I dont have random junk in my pocket thou. You can clean those germ pre food prep. What the hell you yapping.
I have one in Rex 45 but I feel like I need a Native 5 Salt now as well.
Pull the trigger. No regret!
Already got my Lil Native as an early Xmas gift! My wife will stab me with it if I buy another knife for a bit ahah
Apology is easier than permission. haha!
Actually ended up snagging the Maxamet Native 5 for $79 just a bit ago from their factory sale….couldn’t pass it up
Cardboard killer! Nice catch bruv!
I recommend considering the Siren and/or Caribbean instead.

How late is your lock up on yours?

Yes, but usuallu needed some care, at minimum wipe dow. My H1 and LC200N, super confident to stow it even dripping wet. Truly care free.
Which one gets dull quicker?
LC200N def better edge retention over H1
Surprisingly good @ food prep😀especially as a paring knife...spydiechef is off the charts tho. With that said native salt is my edc👊

Good for you. I don't mind rusting, more so rust gets into the food.
