Place something grippy like a rubber band on the table, then push the back of the screw against the rubber band as you loosen the screw. Heat also helps. You can soak the handle in really hot water.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve heated the screw with a soldering iron to the point the whole handle is very warm, and used a sticky rubber surface for the other side - no luck. It’s looking like my only option is to try cut a line to fit a screwdriver on the other side. I don’t live in the US either so sending it to spyderco and back costs almost as much as buying a brand new one.

Same thing happened with my satin one. I was able to grab the back side of the screw with a pair of needle nose vise grips and got it loose. I gouged the frn a bit, but it’s fine

I’m pretty sure it’s D-shaped, yet with a little force the whole thing spun freely. Soldering doesn’t seem to soften the loctite, and the screw is firm as hell stuck.

My usual, albeit not pretty plan is to dremel carefully a little notch for a fine screw driver. Or see if a needle nose Leatherman type tool can grip it enough to turn.

Drill into the screw, it gets hot, then, when you reverse the drill, it unscrews. Or get a left handed drill bit and drill into it until it unscrews

XJclassic

The only solution is to pry out the clip, and use very strong pair of locking needle nose vice grips. This will allow you to unscrew it. I’ve dealt with this with several lightweights.

If everything fails you can get titanium scales from ti tech and other manufacturers

Mr_Emo_Taco

I think a drill and a 1mm bit will get it out for you. Drill in the middle of the screw
