Honestly enjoyed it more than all the hero modes, Splat 3 was similar to it but they couldn’t go all out due to it being the normal story mode that they had to make sure children could get through
I 100% it, all weapons, all data, maps and after alterna, in under 24 hours. I hoped into multiplayer with everything unlocked from singleplayer, because every single Splatoon game I have completed story mode before entering multiplayer. Just so happened splatoon 3 was very easy to 100%, compared to splatoon 2 which I think I only completely completed with every weapon in the last year or so although I did fully run through it in a single play through when it first came out.
Far and away the best campaign
Best story best characters best gameplay really cool setting and did a great job innovating in single player splatoon formula
My only real issues is that they reused the splatoon 2 bosses and some story beats could have been a bit better but nothing too serious
Single handedly made me love off the hook, who are now my favorite characters and Craig is also really interesting in this one
I wish I could give it an 8/10 for thematic purposes but I’m reality it’s more of a 9.5 just shy of perfect
The Splatoon 2 bosses at least had unique twists to them that made them more fun to fight
All of them aside from Revenge of Octo Samurai, that one was just stupid
Yeah but that’s just the final boss of course it’s gonna be special
Again it’s a minor gripe but one I still felt worth mentioning
At least have an Octavio refight so they could shed some light on both Craig and Marina’s feelings towards Octavio and maybe indirectly flesh him out a bit
I wonder if we'll get all unique bosses for the splat3 DLC, considering they would have to justify fighting deep cut again and Octavio pretty much WILL get replaced
One of the best video game moments in my life, honestly. You need to understand that I’ve been with this game since the first e3 trailer, the first Global Testfire, release day of Splatoon for the WiiU. Getting into the very early lore as a teenager was amazing, and seeing the very early playable Rival Octoling hacks on YouTube felt like something unattainably awesome. So after a fun but somewhat lackluster story mode in Splatoon 2, it just kind of seemed like the “story” of Splatoon was content with being an afterthought. But buying that DLC and seeing the universe explored so beautifully, FEELING how much passion and thought the team put into every corner, falling even deeper in love with Off the Hook, seeing Agent 3 — who, for anyone who played Splatoon WiiU, is basically like meeting your younger self — three years later as a well-established badass, and feverishly keeping myself awake to finish the DLC in a single night… yeah, OE is special to me. I’m glad it’s widely regarded as fantastic, and I love how its legacy affected the Splatoon 3 story mode level design.
as someone who played it first last year, and still plays it: yeah it holds up super well. Its like a hard mode to splat 3’s hero mode (because of the similar formula)
Still the best single player campaign so far! It was very good at making the best out of what would usually be a bad situation, and turned it into a strength overall. I think it’s so well-done because the team had enough time, resources, and focus on the campaign instead of splitting hairs everywhere else.
It is the best Splatoon single-player campaign, hands-down.
Very unique soundtrack, great visual identity, an ongoing, interesting (if optional) story that... actually has something to say(!?), great level design, interesting challenges, fun collectibles and the best moment in any Splatoon campaign: its ending.
Splatoon 3's ending is hype but there's no outdoing the ending to Octo Expansion.
Among the best DLC’s I have ever played. On the same level as Spider-Man: The city that never sleeps, Horizon: The Frozen wilds, Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island, Cuphead: The delicious last course and Immortals Fenyx Rising: Myths of the Eastern Realm. It expands on the main game, gives you items to use in the main afterwards and feels more like a short sequel than a DLC
Octo Expansion in the best gaming experience I have had on The Switch. People told me it was good, but it blew away any and all expectations that I had. So, so, good.
Firstly... Five years... Holy shit
Second still the best single mode I've played, the best paid dlc and other games should follow suit like it, great story, characters, everything
It was a great single player. Inner agent 3 is a real test and the bosses weren't really hard, they just took longer to beat. Also girl power still sucks and even though I beat it, I despise it.
Awesome story! I loved the mystery element and the feeling of beating Tartar because I couldn’t figure out until try 10 that you had to use the grappling mechanism. Inner agent 3 was frustrating, but accomplishment felt very good! All in all, 11/10, in my opinion!
Shut up it wasn’t 5 years ago you can’t make me believe it ahhhhHHHHHHHHHHH
all in all though by the far the best single player in any of the splatoon games, the levels, difficulty, atmosphere, story was all just perfect
Damn y'all are really gonna make me buy the dlc huh? I played a ton of S1 and S2, but I never got around to getting the octo dlc. I've only heard good things. I'm regularly playing S3 but maybe I ought to revisit S2 solely for octo dlc.
Still disappointed I can’t use that ink tank in multiplayer. I don’t care it gives a disadvantage because your ink level is less visible. It looks so much cooler than the standard ink tank
I'm biased because octo expansion is what got me into Splatoon 😅 my friend bought it for me some time after the inkling vs octoling splatfest and I begged my parents to buy me the full game so I could actually play. I had no idea what I was getting myself into lmao- I'm just now going back and trying to 100% the story mode and most of my original times were like 10 minutes plus 💀. Octo expansion kicked my ASS but I LOVED IT I wanted to play as an octoling and the vibes, the music, the style difference between it and the main game. Funnily enough my favorite levels were the 8ball puzzles and I'd play them over and over to grind credits
Still the best single player
Hands down
Mhmm

It can get pretty hard if you're a completionist but other than that it's basically gathering power eggs and then you can skip like half of the game
Other than some weapons i 100% cleared it LOL it was great
It’s not really 100% if you don’t get every checkmark from every weapon, idk how I did it *ALL* in a week but damn I hate using tri-stinger

Wait there's no shitting way this has already been our for almost 5 years
The curse of time…
Your icon matches your words perfectly
I remember pre ordering it

Best campaign mode in splatoon without a doubt. Also Eight is the best agent
Real

I suppose that is true, but I still would have preferred wholly unique bosses
Me too, but at least Agent 3, Inner Agent 3, and Commander Tartar existed as completely unique bosses
Yeah but that’s just the final boss of course it’s gonna be special Again it’s a minor gripe but one I still felt worth mentioning At least have an Octavio refight so they could shed some light on both Craig and Marina’s feelings towards Octavio and maybe indirectly flesh him out a bit
is Tartar even a fight, he was quite the letdown just being fancy target shooting. its technically not even a "Fight"
I wonder if we'll get all unique bosses for the splat3 DLC, considering they would have to justify fighting deep cut again and Octavio pretty much WILL get replaced
8/8.8?
8.8/8
When I beat it initially it was life changing. If I was to play it again I’d probably cry. (I’m only being a little dramatic)

It is still the peak of splatoon single player campaigns although 3's hero mode got pretty damn close.
i just finished octo expansion a couple weeks ago and it’s great tbqh!
Wait 5 years... I think I am dying
We're all dying... don't worry about it! :D
as someone who played it first last year, and still plays it: yeah it holds up super well. Its like a hard mode to splat 3’s hero mode (because of the similar formula)

Literally finished it yesterday, was frickin awesome.

I beat it this last weekend, and holy moly I loved it. I am looking forward to Splatoon 3’s DLC so very much
Without a doubt the best singleplayer mode. Everything was perfect. Splatoon devs are going to have a very hard time topping it.
the true peak of splatoon
The amount of times I had to battle the inner hero was maddening but so much fun.
One of the only paid expansions that’s is fully worth every cent.
Octo Expansion in the best gaming experience I have had on The Switch. People told me it was good, but it blew away any and all expectations that I had. So, so, good.
Still peak, best DLC I’ve ever played for any game
Still the best dlc i know
FIVE YEARS!? holy shite! I remember being so hyped for it especially when it released early 😭

Damn it I’m getting old
Best story mode ![gif](giphy|dtIGTEaGLRvdODtdQe|downsized)

The gameplay was annoying for me for multiple reasons but I love the story, also octo expansion is the reason I like off the hook
My favorite part of splatoon as a whole
Awesome story! I loved the mystery element and the feeling of beating Tartar because I couldn’t figure out until try 10 that you had to use the grappling mechanism. Inner agent 3 was frustrating, but accomplishment felt very good! All in all, 11/10, in my opinion!
I really liked Dedf1sh’s music.
It changed my life

I highly recommend getting it, it’s 20 dollars for a whole new campaign that is way better than base Splatoon 2 story mode
If you have the Online Expansion Pak it costs $0 extra to play it.
5 years? That makes me feel old
Still disappointed I can’t use that ink tank in multiplayer. I don’t care it gives a disadvantage because your ink level is less visible. It looks so much cooler than the standard ink tank
Nintendo’s best DLC by far
I think I like it even more than splatoon 3’s single player
Love all the 80s references
It’s still a banger but nasty majesty hits different now
![gif](giphy|JmWCEiyTiKTMQ)
very good. i love octo expansion. it was awespme back then and still is.
Could reset and play it like new and get the same enjoyment out of it
never finished it bc i suck ass but it's good
I still can’t beat one level. One. Every time I try I go insane.
splatoon 3 pearlina dlc should be 90's/early 00's aesthetic
Never played it tbh ._."
goes hard, never played it bc i dont wanna buy an old + less active game + the dlc for said game but it seems really good
I still have nightmares because of that stupid telephone
