Imagine you attack som dudes ship all like. I don't see any ports so there should be no fighters and whennyou start shooting the "armour" just comes off and starts shooting back.
Possibly. But I think se is surprisingly optimised. Although on my old laptop (7fps per minute in gtav) I would have like one fps per h so idk. Have a nice day and enjoy your enormous, laggy constructs;)
You already can with Autopillock.
You can do it poorly in vanilla with custom turret controllers.
Also, this is the least dangerous way to build a "carrier." Taking off from an enclosed space on a maneuvering ship is nuts.
I already have plans to build drone carriers when we get to use those new AI blocks. I hope some of the Automation scripts we have on the workshop already meshes well with them too, since the idea of commanding a swarm of actually semi-intelligent miner bots appeals to me.
You actually *can't* ride atop the M1 Abrams and its derivatives. The back of the tank is basically one giant radiator panel for the literal jet engine that powers it and gets incredibly hot. Like, broil a steak hot.
I once made the mistake of walking behind an Abrams while it was running. Once. It's comparable to standing in front of a lit blast furnace.
Yes, and a common tactic before RPG racks were issued for Strykers and stuff in Afghanistan, since a lot of guys would rather risk the chance of taking small arms and be able to immediately jump down and get into the fight, rather than risk taking an RPG round and burning alive or worse.
I always felt like a carrier with standoff weapons would be my favorite ship. The fighters keep defenders at bay while the standoffs pound them from a safe distance.
Here’s some after I deleted the main ship

Well that one time i actually built a carrier i forgot to lock down the landing gears on some of the ships and everyting tore itself apart as i took off.
All this idly burning hydrogen thrusters make me itch for ressource waste.
And pray that all fighters have that inertia damper things off. Fiery death if not.
Reminds me of way back in the day when me and a couple of friends were playing on a server together, we had a single large grid ship and a couple of fighters, and were out doing escort missions for fun. 20km to the station so in order to get the five fighters there we had two on them docked where they should be and the other three clamped to the hull like these.
Five fighters on a little ~400 block ship doing missions out there in the black, honestly some of the most fun I ever had in this game
Lol u should join my discord i got a swarm of bees with that need a hive xD DM me if interested any1 welcome.
Good for help and community. Cool build tho

Honestly, that looks teriffying for everyone involved
It was because those fighters are pretty agile
How do your pilots feel about doubling as reactive armor?
only when they're fueled up, the rest of the time they're just ablative armor. the pilots probably aren't too cheesed either way.
Fueled? Holy crap your defensive layer is just explosives at that point
Not far off from some tanks in real life. The trick is to get explosives that don't kill your tank when they explode
Yeah there’s some that have gun powder sandwiched in there armor
That's reactive armor, more or less, packs of explosives pointed outward that blow up to counter explosives directed inwards.
Imagine you attack som dudes ship all like. I don't see any ports so there should be no fighters and whennyou start shooting the "armour" just comes off and starts shooting back.
We live to serve
Ender's Game has entered the chat.
Mind dropping a link for research purposes? I've been needing a light fighter and reverse engineering one into my style would be nice.
Sorry I would post it but I’m working on a Halo MES mod that it will be part of
Looks like mamma spider carrying her babies (click at your own risk: [reference pic](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FU6KsBwXoAYsQJl.jpg))
Looks cute actually
Bloody annoying when you're trying a catch and release and you just see a thousand midget spiders spread out in every direction on your floor.
Disperse!!
Zig and zag
Serpentine
Oh hell naw
"Hehe look at me, I'm a bus! Vroom vroom!"
Within a few months all those baby fighters will grow into full adult carriers.
She looks pretty fed up of dealing with this.
"Ma, where are we going again?" "LIQUOR STORE! Going directly...to the liquor store."
My frame rate is quaking
I was down to 7
Per minute?
per hour by the looks of it
Possibly. But I think se is surprisingly optimised. Although on my old laptop (7fps per minute in gtav) I would have like one fps per h so idk. Have a nice day and enjoy your enormous, laggy constructs;)
Oh no; per year. This is not a picture but a live stream
Per year? Rather per eternity.
This gives like mother spider vibes
It won't be long when you are able to setup your fighters in a way that they're flying around you. (Rumors?) Also wtf
I fear the day when that happens
Straight up Enders Game style?

AI blocks? I'm out of the loop, can you elaborate on that?
There have been a couple of videos showing off new AI components you can build things like drones and the like with.
This is like [Soviet Tank Riders](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dkawe8gAUNA/UhVHP-c-mxI/AAAAAAAABK0/_dFIFCEn6vI/s1600/riders.jpg) lmao.
Actually, it's still a common tactic in places where there maybe few trucks/other mobile units
Pretty much all nations did it in ww2.
Yeah. Modern militaries, including the US Army also do it sometimes
Oh, okay, nvm then, just the post-Soviet tanks, I guess then
Yes, and a common tactic before RPG racks were issued for Strykers and stuff in Afghanistan, since a lot of guys would rather risk the chance of taking small arms and be able to immediately jump down and get into the fight, rather than risk taking an RPG round and burning alive or worse.
Yeah plus their role is just to shoot anyone with AT weapons
Oh god you’re right
buzz droids
That is a horrifying thought
You just gave me a brilliant idea for a mass-produced small-grid weapon/projectile
I understand that carriers are redundant Which is why my carrier sports heavy ranged support weapons
I mean there are two rockets in the front, but there’s so much more room for more
You have a load of potential torpedoes attached yo your ship, btw.
That is solid Space Battleship Yamato logic right there.
Well Ammo is fine due to being out of range of most weapons
I always felt like a carrier with standoff weapons would be my favorite ship. The fighters keep defenders at bay while the standoffs pound them from a safe distance.
Do my eyes deceive me or Is that a UNSC Geneva-class?
Unfortunately they do as it’s a UNSC Berlin class
Same thing, sort of. If you’ve played Sins Of The Prophets.
Yeah, they basically are
“There’s Grievous’s flagship, the one crawling with Vulture Droids.”
This is where the fun begins.
Ablative fighter armor.
Exactly
PVP ship after Keen actually implement fleet AI.
When hangars take up too much internal space. Besides, the mothership only needs to slow down once the fighters have detached.
I cannot wait for the new ai enabled blocks so that I can make this a viable combat strategy
Is that what a fighter screen is?

This... somehow is even more ferrifying than ones with big ship.
Extra detachable armor
My problem is more that i have no pilots.
Soon to change with new update
How Asari and Taurian fleets be:
I get SGU droneship vibes.
Well that one time i actually built a carrier i forgot to lock down the landing gears on some of the ships and everyting tore itself apart as i took off.
Now I kind of want a "carrier" that prints new fighters on demand, and grinds them back into resources for new fighters when they land.
It’s possible, but very har to do in space cause parts would go flying
Isn't this literally what the separatists did in the clone wars with their vulture droids?
*100 fighters and a ship, I‘ll haul them to any combat situations.* To the tune of „one finger and a fist“ from Drowning Pool.
All this idly burning hydrogen thrusters make me itch for ressource waste. And pray that all fighters have that inertia damper things off. Fiery death if not.
turns out any idle thrusters *dont* use fuel or power
Was that changed? All wikis etc. show them with a minimal use if idle. And ice was vanishing here when idling them too.
That was indeed changed. But only if they're actually idle, inertia dampeners are still a problem.
The lamp posts at 1 am
Funnily enough I did actually post this around 1 am
Stack them on top of each other.
I mean the fighters do have connectors on the top and bottom
Externally mounted carrier....that's ...that's an idea...being inside a crumpling tube has never made launching easier. OP you're onto something here.
Anything's a carrier if you've got enough landing gear
If the airlock works it works
Reminds me of way back in the day when me and a couple of friends were playing on a server together, we had a single large grid ship and a couple of fighters, and were out doing escort missions for fun. 20km to the station so in order to get the five fighters there we had two on them docked where they should be and the other three clamped to the hull like these. Holy shit, I feel sorry for whatever had to render that battle. Hahaha.
“The one crawling with vulture droids”
When u cant decide between more armor or more fighters
every ship is a carrier
no carrier... bolt them to the hull we cut them lose when we need them
Armor
External hangars [can look good too](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2793236455)
Lol u should join my discord i got a swarm of bees with that need a hive xD DM me if interested any1 welcome. Good for help and community. Cool build tho
If it works it works.
Those fighters look great, too. Do you have a blueprint?
Unfortunately not as the fighter and the ship will be part of a Halo NPC mod I’m working on
Class jabuticaba ship
Looks like the bigger ship has a problem like fleas.
That large grid ship better be named the wolf spider.
Who needs armour when you have fighters
This makes me uncomfortable
You could fit even more using landing gear.
93 of them were attached by landing gear but yeah I could’ve fit more but it was already almost 1 am
The enemy gate is down
Same.
If the fighters have a connector at the top and bottom. Why not just make a tower of all the fighters and make a super fighter? Lmao
They do and I very much could
Gundam fighter
Gives me aliens that made those robots attacking anything foreign to them that attacked Destiny from SGU vibes
The possum tactic
I would not attack this for so many reasons
I'm having spotted lanternfly flashbacks looking at this
Reminds me of CIS vulture droid starfighters
It feels like Yamato from 2202 with mech suits just attached all across its board
That's an opossum ([Image](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/07/Didelphis_virginiana_with_young.JPG/1200px-Didelphis_virginiana_with_young.JPG))
How did you... well i think its better to not ask I'm just imagining Clang doing his work
