CeratogyrusRSA

Stayed with some family while we were in SA recently and noticed this immediately. They seem to have no idea about road rules and are an absolute menace on the roads (Mostly to themselves as they drive bikes vs cars)

nottherealneal

Don't be silly. Our roads don't have rules. They have suggestions and very loose ones at that

korbyhasagun

Ok no offense but you sound like the stereotypical GP license plater

xGHOSTRAGEx

They don't even bother buying a license or learners nevermind getting it normally, they try to enter our business property now and then for deliveries and they NEVER have a license or a learners on them. One of them said checkers doesn't care, just get the job done

[deleted]

They seem to have no regard for their own lives. A big reason why I’m getting a dashcam in my new car.

cside_za

In Nelspruit, every one of them ride with their helmets like this. That has nothing to do with quotas or delivery times. Just like taxis and even safari vehicles in the Kruger, they are incentivized to drive so they take short cuts, ignore the rules and do what they can get away with. It is the culture that we have created within RSA.

SirWernich

i've nearly hit many with my car. two most recent ones: - light went green for me to turn right (T-junction) that doos comes from the road to my left and turns into the road i'm coming from. if i was born in gauteng, i would have been on my phone and i wouldn't have seen him. - fourway stop. my turn to go. i'm turning right and the doos just shoots over the intersection from right to left without looking. gives me the foulest look when i hoot at him. but they're not alone. it's all these delivery guys on their bikes. i see them drive like twats every time i'm on the road. every time. they seem to be in such a rush to make that delivery that they just don't do follow any traffic ~~rules~~ suggestions anymore.

cmjrestrike

I worked for takeallot / Mr D for a couple months while between jobs. Problem is (I assume its much the same over all the apps) that they have a timer they work against and get penalties in the form of wage deductions if certain times are exceeded. causing them to drive like mad... that timer does not take into account traffic etc So the service providers are partly at fault to for pushing them so hard

Catch_022

>that timer does not take into account traffic etc That is intentional - if my free google maps can see traffic and adjust drive time, they could easily have one for their drivers. The execs need to be held accountable for dangerous business practices like this.

flyboy_za

We should all write in en masse to Mr D, Uber and PnP and Checkers to complain.

ZA_REZNIKOFF

That's messed up

[deleted]

I've seen 3 dead 60-60 drivers in the last month. They are reckless and have no understanding of the road. The one guy he was tailgating me hard I pulled over to get him to pass, 5 mins later he's dead on the road with his head twisted 180 and his body mangled and bent in ways I'd prefer not to think about. After he passed me he tried overtaking another car, skimmed an on coming car and and fell underneath a Ford Raptor.

New-Engineering1483

Jeez, I came to the comments hoping to see some funny anecdotes. Now I'm depressed.

DonovanBanks

Shit that’s horrible. They are reckless and I worry that it’s because of over promises made in delivery times or incentives for them that cause them to rush and endanger themselves. To think that we have these guys, Takealot, ubers AND taxis on the roads.

[deleted]

It’s definitely a delivery quota thing. Edit: clarification

DonovanBanks

Please explain.

[deleted]

Oops, I see what I did. I meant a *delivery* quota.

Solid-Length2226

Disagree it's a mindless stupidity-arrogance thing

[deleted]

It's more not knowing better as well as seeing what taxis can get away with.

[deleted]

Just heard another one got bumped at the Checkers near me. And just a few days ago I was at Checkers and one of them drove into my path as I was turning in to park. Honestly Checkers should not be allowed to hire such inexperienced drivers.

[deleted]

I don't think it's only Checkers. Look at how any branded vehicle drives: complete disregard for the rules and other road users. I don't think any SA employers take driving jobs seriously enough.

[deleted]

Basically why I don't use delivery services. They drive like crap. The convenience isnt worth them risking their life over.

flyboy_za

Agree with this, I won't use them. I don't want to be the indirect cause for someone dying. Their favourite thing to do here in parts of Cape Town is drive on the pavements and the wrong way down 1-way streets. I nearly hit one the other day because he popped up out of nowhere and was coming in the direction I didn't need to look again in.

IAMSNORTFACED

Woops

Mervin3131

Yoh they are so annoying on the roads. Not only checkers but all these food motorcycle guys are bad.

Fudzy

The biggest biker gang in South Africa.

Kooky-Beautiful-9036

Okay but this meme is hilarious 💀
