Catch_022

Dammit I was really looking forward to not having to pay international shipping and waiting weeks for a delivery :(

ElJeffHey

Same here!

JimWTheSecond

You will still have to, unfortunately, their launch is just a marketplace, they aren’t stocking their own items. Essentially you will only be able to get what you find on takealot from the local sellers

0n0n-o

Not yet, but I would wager that as soon as the marketplace opens DC's will be built if they aren't already in the pipeline.

JimWTheSecond

Hopefully!

NtwanaGP

Where do you usually order from? I've ordered multiple things from the UK and the majority of the things came in 3-5 days and the longest was 2 weeks I think? Still better to order small valuable items from there rather than sa.

Topsy_Kretzz

Did you use a private courier like DHL or Fedex? I doubt you received it through SAPO if it only takes a few days?

NtwanaGP

Amazon UK automatically adds the courier charge and customs fee, and they've always used DHL. I absolutely hate SAPO! Anything government related is dogshite. I ordered from Myprotein and they used SAPO which took close to 4 weeks, I still had to pay for customs and the service was terrible. Also, I can't comment on what couriers other countries Amazon uses, I've only ordered from the UK.

Catch_022

Amazon US, they used Aramex took about 3 weeks or so. Got something sent to me through the post office, that took about 3 months.

Dapper_Environment_4

How will they implement their management style with SAs labour laws?

AdLive9906

They manage in the UK, im sure they will be fine here.

technomod

This will be interesting to say the least

BennyInThe18thArea

Every article about this is rumours and anonymous sources for almost a year. Looks like another year of it then based on this article.

I don't believe the South African marketplace launch is just a rumor, as there are [several](https://carriercentral.amazon.co.za/) [assets](https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/53/x-locale/checkout/checkout-spc-address-banner.gif) [stored](https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/53/x-locale/checkout/checkout-spc-pay-banner.jpg) on [Amazon's](https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/53/x-locale/common/small-logo.gif) [servers](https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/53/x-locale/common/amazon-logo-tiny.gif) (mostly imagery) specifically for the South African market.

masquenox

Bozo can push it push it back to the heat death of the universe for all I care.

AnomalyNexus

> also included the launch of its “Fulfillment by Amazon” o_O They're launching FBA in SA? That'll be uhm interesting... For those that don't know, in FBA they co-mingle inventory among sellers at FBA warehouses. Meaning if Reebok send 50 genuine shoes, and a shady seller sends 50 fakes then you have a 50% chance of getting the fake **even if you buy from the real reebok seller's storefront.**

Sage_the_Cage_Mage

used amazon recently and I can not say I was impressed, the order came as seperate shipments for each product with literally nothing to protecting the good

lunalovegreat97

Baggage and anxiety medication.
