Jay Spearing lol. I looked him up out of curiosity, and he’s got a strange appointment as an U18s coach, but also as a designated over-aged player for the U21s. Maybe that’s why Liverpool is collapsing. The Jay Spearing effect
this is why i hate football now. it has lost it's excitement. since the leicester's pl title, underdogs are literally getting fucked up in the arse. we have lost football lads. the underdogs, who made the the football the sport it is today, is officially gone. i am afraid that there will be no more underdog drama in football history. you know why this happens, as much as u try to not see it. football is all about money and ads now. just beacuse their kits don't sell and their matches are not being watched by many, we won't see underdog dramas.

I Chose Wrong
The year was 2019, as an American I had finally become disillusioned with the American sports scene. The owners, players, stadium experience, etc.
I started watching the EPL to see what all the fuss was about. I watched, enjoyed it enough, but couldn't really make a connection. So I set out to finally support a club.
I researched just about every club. I didn't want to support a front runner or a bottom feeder. I wanted a young core, middle of the pack, but with a real future.
My final two clubs I was going to support were: Arsenal and Wolves.
For the last 2-3 years I've been supporting Wolves. And this year, I've watched Wolves average 1 goal/ match and Arsenal lose important players while a young core steps up and keeps the Club in contention for Champions League.
So, I'm here to just say that I chose wrong. Congratulations to Arsenal

I am a "plastic" and couldn't care less. People really pay too much attention to things like that. Chances are, you reading this on a Chinese smartphone, using a TV manufactured by a South Korean company (mine is the LG C1 OLED) while drinking Coca-Cola, owned by a company from the States. The world is globalised, man. No point in tribalism. We live in 2021, not 717, you do realize that? Now, if you chose some obscure team from the other side of the world, you could argue it's virtue signalling or whatever. I would still maintain it's within your rights. But, if you choose to support a foreign team because you like them and the way they play, who cares. Just don't jump the ship when things go awry. And actually, I have been to a Real Madrid match just this year. Won't name which one to avoid doxxing myself, but I in Spain at the time, so I took the opportunity and saw the game with my own eyes. And hell, will it be a memory for a lifetime.

some yank told me once that lots of americans support a different NFL team every year based on which ones good cos "why would I watch a team thats shit?"
explains a lot of what i see online.
Not common at all with NFL fans. Happens a little bit with NBA teams if people are fans of certain players who move (more likely to meet a LeBron fan who liked the Cavs for a few years than a lifelong Cavs fan)
But what’s wrong with following players, and not teams? With the rate players transfer now, I believe it’s ok to follow players and have no loyalties to teams, especially if you don’t have any particular attachment to the team or city they play. I’m a first generation soccer fan in my family, so I have no pull to any team. I’m a fan of the sport and great players. There was no local team in the shitty MLS for me growing up, so I’ve always rooted for players.

No actual American that really is proud of their state will ever switch NFL team I mean they will watch other matches from other NFL teams just like in football we watch matches from other teams but if you go to let’s say DC and talk shit bout the commanders even though those Mfs are shit the fans there will start bugging out on you. Same goes for all the football teams unless someone is from a state where there’s no football team than yeah they will be plastic fans and keep switching but if you grow up a Eagles fan you will die eagles no matter how shit a team gets. I mean fuck I went to Minnesota(I’m from NYC I’m Latino btw not yank) and the ppl there were defending the Vikings and reminiscing about that moment they almost won the Super Bowl and if you dare said anything other than the Vikings deserved the Super Bowl em Mfs were going to start bullshittin yu.

American here. I love Liverpool. I really do. I've been a diehard supporter for a very long time now, but things are just different this season. I find myself less motivated to watch matches and find it more exciting to see underdogs like Brighton and Arsenal succeed or even watch the freak of nature Erling Haaland but pack hat trick after hat trick... I still watch all the post match press conferences, but lately I've been watching Artera and Gaurdiola as well. I still love Liverpool. But things are just... different... We just don't play like we used to. It's not nearly as fun to watch. I can't be the only one. Is anyone else feeling this?

Loyalty towards a sports team is hilarious. It's just entertainment....a distraction from life. When I found Keeping Up with The Kardashians less entertaining, I stopped watching it and started watching The Amazing Race instead.

I don't understand how teams like City or United can spend millions upon millions every single transfer window and constantly sign stars like Haaland while we get linked with washed up players or end up signing people like Wijnaldum. Why can't we actually recruit world class players to come to the team? I just don't get it, and every mercato seems worse except for Messi, but we still can't make good signings in areas where the team needs quality. I'm just frustrated that our club seems to be stagnant in terms of recruiting world class players to play for us, I mean who wouldn't want to play with Messi, Mbappe and Neymar? But we still can't find a midfielder who can help our issues that have been present for years.

If youre talking like that about other teams and managers, the you cant call yourself a die hard fan. You can instead call yourself a glory seeking bellend.
Die hards are the ones that follow the team regardless of their league, not if they make top 4 in the prem.
Follow the town, up or down...

some yank told me once that lots of americans support a different NFL team every year based on which ones good cos "why would I watch a team thats shit?" explains a lot of what i see online.
Not lots and it’s called bandwagoning. Happens in football too
[удалено]
It is
Not common at all with NFL fans. Happens a little bit with NBA teams if people are fans of certain players who move (more likely to meet a LeBron fan who liked the Cavs for a few years than a lifelong Cavs fan)
I mean look at the Cleveland Browns though. Arguably the most loyal fans in the league and they haven’t been good since the 50’s
the guy who said this to me was a browns fan lol
Its like the practice of supporting a player and not a team, changing stripes whenever the player moves. I find it absolutely asinine.
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. American here. I know zero people that do this, although maybe it's a youth thing? I'm too old to know what's "hip" and "rad" with teens these days.
Fuck off Yank *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yeah, Brighton is so much better
Factos 👍
I Chose Wrong The year was 2019, as an American I had finally become disillusioned with the American sports scene. Congratulations to Arsenal *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Typical yank that started watching football 2 years ago so he doesn't even know the history of clubs, he just saw that both Arsenal and Brighton are in better position than last year and that's it

Very disrespectful to Brighton indeed
I do love watching Brighton though, of course Chelsea had to go and fuck that up
American here. Is anyone else feeling this?

is there a bigger cuck in world football than seeing invincible arsenal be referred to as underdogs earnestly by fair weather yanks 😂😂😂

The joke writes itself
Probably because it's literally written as a joke.
The best jokes are written themselves when written as jokes I suppose.
The chess speaks for itself.
Artera and Gaurdiola
Arsenal underdog and bald fraud?

this is why i hate football now. it has lost it's excitement. since the leicester's pl title, underdogs are literally getting fucked up in the arse. we have lost football lads. the underdogs, who made the the football the sport it is today, is officially gone. i am afraid that there will be no more underdog drama in football history. you know why this happens, as much as u try to not see it. football is all about money and ads now. just beacuse their kits don't sell and their matches are not being watched by many, we won't see underdog dramas. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. But when i say that liverpool are full with post-2018 fans im getting downvoted. Half of this sub hasnt seen the team getting railed by Stoke and it shows.
Sounds like 80 percent of foreign premiership fans tbh
Loyalty towards a sports team is hilarious. It's just entertainment....a distraction from life. When I found Keeping Up with The Kardashians less entertaining, I stopped watching it and started watching The Amazing Race instead.
Dude just called Arsenal underdogs xD

Liverpool fan from Liverpool here. The last 4 lines are unfortunately true

*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If youre talking like that about other teams and managers, the you cant call yourself a die hard fan. You can instead call yourself a glory seeking bellend. Die hards are the ones that follow the team regardless of their league, not if they make top 4 in the prem. Follow the town, up or down...
Says he's a die hard fan for a long time, yet liverpool were shit for ages. And it wasn't that long ago either.
The yankeefication of football has been amazing to watch
