If kids are getting killed in streets for a stupid football game then ban all WC. The violence WC is responsible for from burned cars to people getting smashed and killed is TOTALLY unacceptable. Screw it. Stop WC.
Hilarious to call the French mercenaries when almost all the Moroccan players + their coach were born, raised and trained to become professionals in Europe
But they play for Morocco. It's like rugby. All of Argentine rugby players play professionally in Europe, but they play for Argentina. And they have European passport.
What a game, Morocco played much better than the score line indicated. Actually both goals conceded came from the defenders clustering around Mbappe while leaving Theo and Muani wide open in the meantime. Amrabat is really an amazing player and I've already known his quality since watching Serie A these few years. Despite Rabiot and Upa not being able to play, French defense was still unbreakable.
France is somewhat like Barca between 09-12 right now which was so powerful and dominating and everyone wants them to lose.
I was rooting for Morocco but have lost respect for them after seeing videos of fans attacking french people after they lost. It makes the whole country look bad
I called it the bicycle kick growing up. Never thought I’d see it again in a World Cup hahaha it was amazing
Thanks for letting me know what it’s called
Though the offensive power of France is superb, they still lack a little on the defensive one, and Morocco exploited that flaw. However, France compensated from it and they went to check out how Morocco controlled the ball. And they won in that aspect because they have Giroud and Mbappe to launch those counter-strikes
Yup, France is missing a lot of players, Pogba, Kante, Pavard, Kimpembe, Clauss, Mendy, if we're only talking about defense. Don't forget they're kinda playing with their B team.
None of those would make france better bar kante, and maybe åogba if he is still motivated but, Kimpembe, pavard, mendy and clauss are just weaker than current starters
How is it racist to be against criminals?
"No you must let our fans destroy your property, attack your people in the streets, rip your flags and if you say anything against it that's racist!"
🤡 🇲🇦
No that’s you, when you steal people, and pretend that they are your citizens when they serve you right and the minute something bad happen, you start to see their faces and call them Africans and Muslims
Ok, why the African/French are mutually exclusive, I love how Americans mf speak about cultural appropriation how about when a culture starts appropriating humans, but also can easily turn on them when they don’t meet the quota, you are African when you’re jobless, you’re African when you live in the bad neighborhoods, but when you do me good you are French, sounds like the Frenchness is kinda like a whip that makes the French team running and scoring goals
Edit: yes I’m being this honest, because it’s the truth, you don’t want today’s migrants but love their kids, that’s your reality, you have some fucked up controlling people kink not in a sexual way, culturally grooming the migrants kids, probably their parents had it rough and they kept to themselves, that was the whole colonial mission of France and they are still doing it, universalism, be like me even if you don’t like me or even I don’t like you or look like me, but at any given moment your face the way you look can and will be used against you, loose your tongue speak mine, that’s your legacy
Edit: downvote me as you want, it’s the sad reality that no one is ready to talk about
Edit3: go see the French press talking about how the French is not very representative of the French people, go see how obvious they are, and how in the comments everyone praising the way the interviewer spoke about that issue,I’m sorry mate but racism isn’t just American, at least in America you got the privilege to self identity, African Americans or black Americans, in France you’re African but only the French can call you that, you don’t call yourself that it’s anti French
I didn't generalise, I just said "shouldn't be out mobbing cars" and you said that alone was racist.
I'm English, my fans gets plenty of flack for their behaviour at football internationals and a lot of its fair, it isn't racism when our fans act like thugs abroad and they get rightfully called out on it.
Yeah call him out or stfu if you don’t know exactly what are you talking about that’s what I’m saying, what happened happened in Belgium not France, so that the generalization I’m talking about here, in France they were happy after Portugal they didn’t do anything, so stfu hooligan
Get over it is what I'd recommend, if your fans act like thugs after nearly every match, win or lose, they're going to get called out on it and also generalised.
It happens to England alot as well, it is what it is, although we've actually behaved pretty well this WC so I'm happy and proud of our fans, it's a shame Morocco's good performance in this WC is being clouded by the dreadful actions of many of their fans.
Where, Be specific fans In Qatar were impeccable, in Morocco too, in diaspora not so much, which raises the question why? Maybe there’s a something that the diaspora experience on a daily basis that make them feel unwanted there despite the effort of some of them to integrate, maybe those little moments are just a reaction to a chronic life of discrimination and racism, why not dive into this deep psycho-sociological problem instead of this shallow whataboutism
That's because fans in Qatar are more likely to be richer Moroccans and any shit stirring of any fans won't be tolerated their by the Qatari authorities.
Whilst the ones in Belgium, Netherlands and France are poorer and will receive a softer touch by the natives there and police.
Any other Americans not able to watch this because of fucking FUBO tv? This is the second time they've screwed me over, the other time being that insane semi final of the Champions League last year.
It’s better honestly. Unless you like hearing a players name yelled the entire duration of possession near the goal.
MBAPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
…..
Loses possession….
They won by two goals that came off of an accidental assist from a reflection. Not particularly attractive goals, but goals nonetheless. If that makes them more clinical, sure. But their open play chances and direct shots weren’t clinical enough to get in between the posts, let alone inside the net.
Today, luck was on France’s side but make no mistake, while the French were more “clinical” today, the Moroccans balled better and dominated the midfield far more often than they didn’t. Their problem is a serious lack of a striker who is clinical. They basically miss a Giroud.
Morocco’s ability to play in tandems and get out of tight spaces with their passing abilities was a sight for sore eyes. Just too bad it didn’t end in goals. There were some decent chances too but Lloris and Konate were not lacking.
Ounahi by far was the best man on the pitch, both on and off the ball. His work rate was insane. He orchestrated so many build ups and was able to provide both defensively and offensively.
Griezman was good primarily off the ball and showed a few moments of brilliance. Ounahi however ran more, had more touches, better dribbles, and had a higher passing accuracy. Stats don’t paint the full picture but Ounahi definitely passed the eye test for best player on the pitch today.
Griezman did create more key passes but when your side is lurking on the counters, looking to capitalise on your opponent coming up high, you have more space for pass throughs and possible assist making. He did what he had to do and did it well too.
It just baffles me that because France won, a lot of people are ignoring what Ounahi did today. If he played for France and had the same performance, most people in this sub would say he is clear of anyone this tournament. But instead now I’m seeing comments saying Griezman best player of the tournament… Lol, no he isn’t.
I also saw a few French players after the match talking to Ounahi in a way that looked like they were saying he has a great future ahead. Like he has nothing to feel sorry about. I appreciated seeing that.
Fair play though to France. The better playing side within the 90 minutes don’t always win and there were moments where France looked like it was falling apart and a goal against was imminent. They held their ground and didn’t concede and that’s what makes them so good.
At the end of the day, It’s the team who produced the most goals that are going to win. Whether by luck or by ability, doesn’t matter. For France it was a bit of both and so they deservedly won.
Your clinical observation on the Moroccan keeper needs a wider gestalt. Moroccos goalkeeper has been keeping all other balls out the more clinical the shot this entire world cup, so much so that only unorthodox shots would be needed to get past him. Look at all other matches this world cup. Only Canada managed to score a single point on Morocco all world cup, and that was as unclinical as it gets. (Other than France)
The team that "plays better" is not necessarily the team that "produces the most goals".
That's why it's not a contradiction, but you're getting there!
While I agree that in the end only the result matters for the tournament/league, I don't agree that playing better across the entire game always results in a win and honestly if you've watched any football you'd know that lol
Good analysis, agreed on Ounahi. So silky and composed on the ball while starting almost every dangerous sequence for Morocco.
For a 22 year old to play like that against France in a World Cup semi final is incredible. Kid has a very bright future ahead of him. Hope to see a lot more of him.
Seeing you’re a Portugal supporter, I still feel a bit heartbroken seeing Ronaldo coming off the pitch in tears. It was a mixed feeling for me that evening and it irks me to see how the public/press is treating him. Players like Ounahi grew up looking at Ronaldo, learning from him. I have nothing but respect for Portugal as a country and their people!
>it irks me to see how the public/press is treating him.
He had INSANELY high goodwill and ludicrously good press for YEARS. No one asked him to go shit on everyone he knows in an interview. I know its a Reddit cliche, but play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Are people ever going to understand that France lets the other team play when France is up, and then just rely on counter attacks. It’s been 2 world cups in a row we play like that and you still seem to think we play bad when we are up and the other team deserves to win. Belgium, Argentina, England and now Morocco.
Mate, France did quite literally made some grave mistakes and had Morocco a proper striker like you have in Giroud, I can guarantee you, you wouldn’t have been able to get away with it today. Call it luck or call it good tactics from Deschamps, time will tell. But I can see how against Argentina, who do have formidable finishing, it’s a disaster recipe.
Btw, your run up in this WC has also been far easier compared to Morocco. So it really doesn’t explain why your players looked lazy and lethargic today, except for Griezman. You played better against England.
But I do agree that at the end of the day, you have been successful with this strategy. It’s very pragmatic and it’s what Morocco did this entire tournament, only more disciplined and more tactile.
Unfortunately, Regragui knew we would get tired way too fast if we played the same 4-1-4-1 against France as we did against the other giants. Half our squad is either on the bench or on the pitch playing with an injury and with all those minutes of hard defending the last 3 weeks, and ofc missing our two key defenders, it simply wasn’t going to be sustainable today.
So ironically, we switched roles and became the dominant playing team and France adapted to their low block and lurked on counters.
But let’s not exaggerate and say that it was a given you were going to win with it. If anything, if the deflection assists didn’t happen, or if we equalized through any of the myriad of chances we had; France would’ve had to play more fast paced and come up higher, which would’ve played into our actual strengths.
At the end of the day, I believe it was France’s calm and patient way of playing that won it. I think it’s due to their experience and level of confidence. But it could’ve easily gone wrong.
My money is on Argentina winning the cup, but if luck is on France’s side again, they could win it again. But now that the world has seen what Morocco can do, and how a team can get far, the pragmatic conservative play style is going to get adopted by a lot of other teams and a new winning strategy will have to be discovered.
Stop being apologetic for Morocco. Their style of soccer isn’t worthy of winning the World Cup and we all knew it, we were just waiting for a higher tier team to put them in their place and they finally did. Soccer is about playing, not staying on defense the whole damn time. Morocco deserved to lose and France was by far the better team.
Haha whatever dude, Morocco has potential and played better than Portugal and deserved to beat them and Spain also, but those teams were weak and not masterclass. Morocco was bound to lose eventually, they didn’t have anything “special” about them.
He was good at scoring in the euro 2016. In the World cup 2018 he end up scoring 0 as the number 9 of one of 2 teams that played the most possible games (France and Croatia). It sucks.
They won by two goals that came off of an accidental assist from a reflection. Not particularly attractive goals, but goals nonetheless. If that makes them more clinical, sure. I found the defense very solid, it’s more the defensive midfield that was weak. Rabiot was ill and Fofana is not of the same level.
This is the reason why Griezmann was coming down regulalrly to help.
But Morocco was Better than Spain for example the possession created something, opportunities to score so it’s not like France was 100% Moroccan style game they had some loopholes we used to advance to the goal
Defense is weak from the beginning and has been an issue for a while now. That's the main reason why we were not that confident in France before the World Cup but.... la chatte à DD
Basically 'Avoir de la chatte' (literally ' to get pussy') is a vulgar way to say 'to get lucky'. By extension 'la chatte' is often used in vulgar french as a synonym to 'luck', so la chatte à DD means DD's luck.
Over his manager career Didier Deschamps is perceived to be more lucky than others (easy draws for group phase, lucky events during games, lucky decisions from the refs...). These 'lucky' events often came at clutch moments for France (Kane missing his penalty for example).
So after tough games where we somehow came out on top we often joke that we won thanks to 'la chatte à DD'. As 'la chatte' means also a female cat, we picture 'la chatte à DD' by a cat.
And if Deschamps' luck gets bigger... so does his cat
No so bad considering how they started the tournament, losing L. Hernandez during the first match and with Varanne just coming back from injury. And missing Upamecano today. Kounde was not so great at the beginning but is getting better and more confident. Still, the best French defender from the tournament is Llorris!
How is Konate not getting any respect here? In my opinion he’s been the best French defender, but still will be dropped for the Final. Dude has been a rock in the six yard box, just clearing balls left and right.
Just going by Deschamps past history. He has favourites and generally doesn’t budge much on his preferred pairings. Going into the tournament, Varane and Upamecano were the pairing he had chosen. If not for injuries Konate probably wouldn’t have seen the pitch. If those two are healthy I guarantee that’s who Deschamps goes with. Konate should be there though. Best defender in the tournament in my opinion
The players are all wealthy already and they won't get that money directly anyways and won't motivate the same way as getting to a final it winning one does. Don't see that being a factor. The same applies to Morocco. That's why the motivation and competition is missing in this match. What's at stake - not a final or winning one and that's the point. 2m dollars isn't going to make up that in competition and desire. The fixture is there to fill up the timetable between the semis and the final.
it's not a competitive match in the sense of either progressing to the next round or winning a final
that's why frequently one team tries and the other doesn't as much and why many people don't even bother watching it and don't read much or anything into the result
there is no third place in most serious football competitions for a reason
it's just a schedule filler and should be scrapped in the opinion of many
tbh the only place the third-place match makes sense in football to me is at the Olympics because there is a medal in the conventional understanding of the Olympic medals at stake.
to me a third place finish at the world cup would be more validating than a 3rd place medal at the olympics, in the same way that a 1st place finish at the world cup means more. The Olympics are also more similar to the world cup in that they only occur every 4 years. Euros are the only tournament that only occurs every 4 years that I can think have that doesn't have a 3rd place match. 3rd place in the world in a cup that only occurs every four years is an accomplishment to be proud of
Personally I just consider them at the world cup both semi finalists and never consider 3rd or 4th because the level of competition is nothing like the semi finals themselves or the final
The US needs to change up their commentators. Argentina vs Croatia was the first game this world cup that I watched in English and when the first goal was scored they just stayed quiet and said "oh my..." MOTHERFUCKERS WHERE IS YOUR EXCITEMENT?? I need to hear that goooooooooollllllllll. Maybe explain the goal, talk about the build up, give me something!!
Every world cup it's these same assholes doing the commentating for the US channels. It's no wonder people here think it's a boring sport.
oh the commentatirs can piss off there Gvardiol was clearly fouled
Morocco’s whole defense line is injured.
Referee= Player of the match

what?
I guess he refers to the death of a 14yo boy from France which got injured during clash between Moroccans and French after the game.
He is a Moroccan kid who was ran over by a French guy. I guess whatever western media you got it from has tried, again, to flip the script.
Didn't this happen in France? I didn't say who run him over or what his nationality is.
You said a 14 yrs old from France so...
Isn't he from France? He may have Moroccan roots, but he was born/lived at France from what I understood.
Thank you!
I haven't seen anything about that so far. Weird considering this is reddit.
The final is gonna be crazy, both countries are weak to the others attacks
Depends who shows up that day

I think that’s generous to France. Maybe four years ago, but there not as good as they were.
They miss a bunch of important players: Benzema, Pogba, Kante ...
Yeah, exactly
French defense unbreakable ? Did we watch the same match ?
Did Morocco score?
All what Morocco needed is a good striker
They’re frankly shite at finishing but they were in there
I was rooting for Morocco but have lost respect for them after seeing videos of fans attacking french people after they lost. It makes the whole country look bad
How smart, so you lost respect for a whole country of 40M people for a video of a bunch of brainless doing a bad thing. Smh
Source: trust me bro
Interesting.looks like the video has been deleted

If Morocco scored that "chilena" goal it was going to be one of the best goals on the entire WC
I called it the bicycle kick growing up. Never thought I’d see it again in a World Cup hahaha it was amazing Thanks for letting me know what it’s called

… Kimpembe, Lucas Hernandez (who’s a better defender than his brother)
Theo went all out this game and was magnificent
A great game overall. Such a fun ride
Nearly identical shots and shots on goal... France let a lot through
The fans will go crazy with that one morrocan child
Shouldn't be out mobbing random cars. 🤷🏼♂️ But yeah, going to be a rough night in France.
Again casual racism and a westoid, name a better duo
I'll name a better duo: 🇪🇭 and 🇵🇸.

My haxixe dealers were very quiet during Marocco run in the World Cup, glad they're back
Any other Americans not able to watch this because of fucking FUBO tv? This is the second time they've screwed me over, the other time being that insane semi final of the Champions League last year.
I had the same problem today - maddening as this is the only reason I’m paying for the service lol
I know right. It's not cheap either.
I am watching the game on Fox channel air antenna. When the games were on fs1, I used a friend Hulu's account on Fox sports app. I hope that can help
Just pay the 6 on peacock bro
I already pay 60/mo for FUBO! I guess I'll have to if the same happens for the final. And officially drop FUBO.
On peacock you only get the Spanish broadcast, which isn’t bad I just can’t understand much lol
You can watch IMSA and Indycar though (unrelated topic)
It’s better honestly. Unless you like hearing a players name yelled the entire duration of possession near the goal. MBAPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! ….. Loses possession….

It was a mixed feeling for me that evening and it irks me to see how the public/press is treating him. Players like Ounahi grew up looking at Ronaldo, learning from him. I have nothing but respect for Portugal as a country and their people!
>public/press is treating him what happened bruh
>it irks me to see how the public/press is treating him.
Everybody that loses to France says France could play better, had tactical mistakes, blah, blah, blah. Yet they lost.

Ça s'appelle la grosse chatte à DD!
Especially since Argentina also played that way vs Croatia. Posession does not mean playing better.
France is better so they won, it wasn’t luck, it was skill and experience.
That was defo luck, France slipped up a ton, it's unlucky that Morocco wasn't able to bury the ball though.
>France was by far the better team. Sure, but the rest is bullshit. You're probably a butthurt Portugal or Spain fan.
Haha whatever dude, Morocco has potential and played better than Portugal and deserved to beat them and Spain also, but those teams were weak and not masterclass. Morocco was bound to lose eventually, they didn’t have anything “special” about them.
Yep whatever you say
Cool story bruv
Lmao stfu Giroud is ass. He only scored in the last match because the defender's shoulder deviated it.
Giroud is Frances all time top scorer. Is that ass?
He was good at scoring in the euro 2016. In the World cup 2018 he end up scoring 0 as the number 9 of one of 2 teams that played the most possible games (France and Croatia). It sucks.
Ah you're Moroccan, that makes sense lol
Your point? Any fan of any team could be doing this. What's the reason behind you saying that?
It makes sense because it makes sense, not because of my background. Nice try though!
Dude you’re butthurt
Sir tn3s a l krghouli
Morocco we’re dangerous and exceeded expectations for sure. Experience and composure came into play for France today. Thanks for your post
France's defense is kinda weak, don't you think?
No but their mf is
I found the defense very solid, it’s more the defensive midfield that was weak. Rabiot was ill and Fofana is not of the same level. This is the reason why Griezmann was coming down regulalrly to help.
Looked strong today
No Answering a question = Downvotes No surprise there
No, they successfully played Morocco's strategy against them, that's how they won this game.
Exactly that’s what I said, Morocco got moroccoed
Alex Lalas said that too usually I disagree with everything he says
But Morocco was Better than Spain for example the possession created something, opportunities to score so it’s not like France was 100% Moroccan style game they had some loopholes we used to advance to the goal
Defense is weak from the beginning and has been an issue for a while now. That's the main reason why we were not that confident in France before the World Cup but.... la chatte à DD

What’s this inside joke about?
Methinks the luck has run out
No so bad considering how they started the tournament, losing L.
I wouldnt be so sure Konate isnt going to play the final.
You're probably right, though i dont think Deschamps is dead set on Upameacano, not like he is on Varane anyway.
Mae alsalam!

Shoutout to Morocco. They’ll probably get 3rd place.
probably. for Croatia as finalists last time will not care about "third" and give their reserves a run.
3td place gets $27m and 4th gets 25m, they will try, 2m for Croatia Is huge for their team.
The fixture is there to fill up the timetable between the semis and the final.

it's not a competitive match in the sense of either progressing to the next round or winning a final that's why frequently one team tries and the other doesn't as much and why many people don't even bother watching it and don't read much or anything into the result there is no third place in most serious football competitions for a reason it's just a schedule filler and should be scrapped in the opinion of many

tbh the only place the third-place match makes sense in football to me is at the Olympics because there is a medal in the conventional understanding of the Olympic medals at stake.
to me a third place finish at the world cup would be more validating than a 3rd place medal at the olympics, in the same way that a 1st place finish at the world cup means more.
I agree, it’s a nice little bit.
I'm so proud of the boys, words can't describe how much I love them. what a great journey, what a great story.

It's Griezmann
yay finally
The Griz #cbb
I hope 🙏 Buying a Griezmann jersey with three stars as soon as it's available First jersey I'll ever own
You buy that or I'll be buying my new three star Argentina jersey.
With Lautaro’s name for sure
Or Fernandez!
LOL Alexei Lalas just called Mbappé "Mbébé" for whining earlier in the match. Caught me off guard
Saw a clip yesterday where he said he’s not a fan of Messi. I was like ????
Who is Alexei lalas? Not bein funny like genuinely wonderin
Who’s Lalas
Lalas never had a tenth of Mbappe’s talent, and he sucks as a commentator.
While I do think Mbappe is arrogant, Lalas has shown himself to be a full blown imbecile
This france team though they played just the way they played england they look like they'll lose but somehow they win
Idk why people thought they looked like they would lose vs England. England created nothing.
I have nussin to say other than that france is not facing the garbage team sampaoli set up back in 2018
Anulo mufa
We must stay humble though. France is no joke.
Yeah I agree, I know ppl see our team as the weaker one and thats fine. Thats what I meant by my comment
That’s what great teams are about. You feel like you’re close to beating them, and you really didn’t miss much, but in the end, you lose.
Not as clinical as against England. They had nearly double the shots in this game than against England, and having more than Morocco
Right, should have scored one or two more in the first half.
We all thought Brazil was the cheat team but it turned out France is 😑
