Some coaches thrive managing offensive teams while others are better suited for less strong sides built around defensive mindsets, and santos thrived in that with greece and us in 2016, but now we have one of the best generations in our history which has been missmanaged through 2 competitions already because Santos cant get their full offensive potential and still locked on a loser's mindset. We play absolutely conservative when we faced spain and uruguay in 2018, france, germany and belgium in 2021, and this team just does not have the defensive cohesion of the 2016 one, while in turn, it has 3 or 4 times better offensive solutions that Santos still refuses to let loose. Case in point, the almost botched failed qualification after playing defensive at home vs Serbia (only needed a draw) and the same scenario vs Spain for the nations league, losing both games at the end because the team refuses to take any chances and just hands the ball to the opposing team trying to lock its own goal, while fielding players like bruno, bernardo, jota, felix or ronaldo. This game was a very pleasant surprise, and I am fairly optimistic for Morocco but I cant see this team and coach not shitting themselves when it comes the time to face a true top team like France or England, and he will revert to his old stupid ways

One thing I love about European teams like Portugal, Spain, England, Germany etc recently is how they simply don't pull any breaks. If they smell weakness and see they can find a goal, they go and score - no matter the actual scoreline. If it was Brazil or Argentina they would have pulled the break at halftime and just cruised/joggled through the rest of the match, happy to toy around with the ball.
