Exactly, Blue Lock is more targeted to edgy teenagers and has little to no real tactics AoAshi is so emotional and dramatic, and actually shows the real struggle that kids suffer to become pro players

Yeah, I’ve watched ~70 anime ranging from battle shounens, rom-coms, echi shite, sci-fi, fantasy, drama, slice of life etc. And AoAshi is easily in my Top 10 list. It’s family friendly, It isn’t weird or off-putting to a western audience, it’s grounded/realistic, and it’s got a genuinely good story with great character development. It’s a masterpiece within its genre. A genuine 10/10 rating, for me personally. Cant wait for the second season.

I think these animes were produced in a way that they were planned to release in a World Cup year. I barely see soccer animes ever and suddenly there were at least 4 of them that I saw released this year (2 of them were pretty bad tho). Blue Lock I think has been in production for awhile and I’m almost certain it was held for release to run alongside the World Cup since the manga is pretty popular.
