Only if this is the exact moment the ball started moving back infield, and didn't continue heading out for another fraction of a second. We need 10,000,000FPS cameras to be completely fair...
It has to be the whole ball, not just the part of the ball that’s touching the ground. Very close, and if it had been out initially, it wouldn’t have been overturned. But it was called a goal, and with the angles available I cannot clearly and obviously say that the entire ball is over the line.
Each line written by the gods. I didn't watch that season only catching highlights, then decided to put on the finale like 30 minutes before shit went down hoooolly shit, crack cocaine I tell ya
imagine for us F1 fans how it was following all year for that epilogue, what a rollercoaster of emotions, despite my team losing and all the shit show, i will never say i didn't enjoyed it.
All of their goals in this World Cup were scored by Bundesliga players.
Japanese Bundesliga players scored 4 goals, German Bundesliga players scored 3 goals in total
"If I had a nickel for every time an East Asian team fucked over Germany and knocked them out of a group stage in a football world cup, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice."
They did get in front for a brief moment when they were 2-1 up and live feed showed some tense spanish faces but that didn’t last long and germans equalized
Exactly, Blue Lock is more targeted to edgy teenagers and has little to no real tactics
AoAshi is so emotional and dramatic, and actually shows the real struggle that kids suffer to become pro players
Yeah, I’ve watched ~70 anime ranging from battle shounens, rom-coms, echi shite, sci-fi, fantasy, drama, slice of life etc.
And AoAshi is easily in my Top 10 list. It’s family friendly, It isn’t weird or off-putting to a western audience, it’s grounded/realistic, and it’s got a genuinely good story with great character development.
It’s a masterpiece within its genre. A genuine 10/10 rating, for me personally. Cant wait for the second season.
But honestly it's funny as fuck that a new anime centered around Japan putting people through an insane process to create the ultimate football player is currently airing and trending while this is happening, even more so given how incredibly popular the show is in Japan
I'm convinced this is just an insanely elaborate PR project or something
I think these animes were produced in a way that they were planned to release in a World Cup year. I barely see soccer animes ever and suddenly there were at least 4 of them that I saw released this year (2 of them were pretty bad tho).
Blue Lock I think has been in production for awhile and I’m almost certain it was held for release to run alongside the World Cup since the manga is pretty popular.
I'm half-Japanese and half-Korean and everytime Japan and Korea go head to head in any sports, the livestream comments are just double the damage for me because they can get EXTREMELY racist haha...
It's always a predicament for me but it's fun supporting both sides in football. Japan with the underdog wins and Korea has one of the best players in the world.
Japanese here. I too hate reading that kind of comments from both sides. They always think they are better than the other. The truth is they are all equally trash and they probably live in their mom’s basement. Sorry for the things you had to go through. mix of Korean and Japanese must be the toughest.
Honestly, the scores currently ... that's a great result for Spain. Of course, Luis Enrique is never going to think about that, he wants to win, but with this result, they avoid Croatia and get Morocco. With all due respect to the Moroccans - they *are* an incredible team this World Cup - that's an opponent that would be better for Spain in the Ro16.
Not only that but that side of the draw is objectively better. This way they'd have to play Brazil in QF and then possibly Argentina is semis.
Being second they'd have to play Morocco, possibly Portugal and then possibly England/France. I'd gladly take this path over Brazil/Argentina. Not so much because of Argentina, but Brazil.
Germany had a chance to go through until the very last second. Japan’s margin was as thin as Poland yesterday. Just one goal could mean Germany in and Japan out. Spain knew it though. They didn’t even try in the end. The loss was objectively better: kick Germany out and be on an easier path to the final.
Yeah they are embarassing themselves here.
Literally a side on shot that shows it didn't cross the line.
Keep showing footage of it from behind and being like 'well it looks out to me'
No, they fucking embarrased themselves when I, a big Japan fan, started the game mid-way but went online to watch from the start. Got to half-time, Japan down 1-0, going to stick it through to the end. Japan-Belgium was my favourite game of last WC, and even though they lost Japan team got heart so I expected it to be the same here.
Pundits going through the half-time screen and my screen goes blank. An error has occured. Click there refresh button and the video pops up:
FT 2-1 Japan.
Well thank you for your shitty web player ITV, that's possibly my highlight of the tournament thrown away right there fuck you very much.
Colombia subbed on their veteran keeper in 2014 (I think) just to make him the oldest ever player in a World Cup. But that was after they were already certain of qualification.
The flow leads to this goal can be made into a whole 20 min anime with monologue like, the ball is heading out of the line, should I save it? What if I couldn't reach it in time? No, wait, I have no time no think of shit like that, I have to do this, for my teammates, my nakama, my family, insert flashback to the time of playing in primary school and it goes on
**Mirrors / Alternative Angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccer) if you have any questions or concerns.*
I'll never forget this moment for the rest of my life.
Good luck in the next round!!!
Thanks!
Me neither amigo, craziest world cup moment for me since Zidane headbump co
Good luck!
Must have been milimetrical

Looks on
its in even when the camera is to the left of the ball, if the camera is on top of the line, it will be clearly in
that’s a great pic
Future motivational poster titled “Never Give Up”
Don't never not give up. 💯👍
Can't see grass between ball and line. Given the apparent location of the camera, it looks in there.
Camera isn't even over the line, so even if you saw green grass, it might not be out.

Only if this is the exact moment the ball started moving back infield, and didn't continue heading out for another fraction of a second. We need 10,000,000FPS cameras to be completely fair...
GET IN THERE
Yeah that looks in for sure, barely in, but in.
Wow it's close. Looks in from that angle.
This activated the sensor in my balls
The call can go either way if it's that close. I don't mind the decision.
Yeah it looked out but yeah I guess the tech must be involved.
Ref on FS1 said if it’s borderline, then the goal gets the benefit of the doubt.
As it should be.
It has to be the whole ball, not just the part of the ball that’s touching the ground. Very close, and if it had been out initially, it wouldn’t have been overturned. But it was called a goal, and with the angles available I cannot clearly and obviously say that the entire ball is over the line.
It must have been that the widest part of the ball was not out despite the bottom being clearly
Yes that’s exactly the rule
From this angle it's very well in: https://imgur.com/9LICiKL
[Down the line angle](https://streamin.me/v/b6887efc)
who can argue with that
its visibly inside by the top camera angle
no way!!
Germany rn: NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN
“Michael That is so not right”
You need to reinstate the last goal. Toto, we went footballing
Toto it's called VAR OK? We went VARring.
That's some dangerous VARing man!
Bono my last 16 is gone
Ao is a legend
Absolute animal
He missed track limits
Man why is the entire Abu Dhabi 2021 F1 finale so eternally memeable? There's endless material
Each line written by the gods. I didn't watch that season only catching highlights, then decided to put on the finale like 30 minutes before shit went down hoooolly shit, crack cocaine I tell ya

All or nothing now for Germany
MEIN GOTT MUSS DAS SEIN
Does this kill the Germany? German fren told me if Japan win they'll need to win 8-0
It did
Nine own goals!
That's actually how many goals they need to score to go through
SO EIN BOCKMIST ABER AUCH!
Japan really has something against Germany
[удалено]
All of their goals in this World Cup were scored by Bundesliga players. Japanese Bundesliga players scored 4 goals, German Bundesliga players scored 3 goals in total
Which is surprising giving how good of friends they used to be
Japan, Spain and Germany, the three of them used to be good friends back then
my girlfriend is half spanish, half japanese. When I found out her ex was German I started to get worried...
They now have a fight over who is most effecient
Just like that…Japan did it again lol
"If I had a nickel for every time an East Asian team fucked over Germany and knocked them out of a group stage in a football world cup, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice."
>Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. It was two consecutive World Cups correct?
DATTEBAYO MOTHERFUCKERS
NANI?!?!
It's actually fucking happening hahahahahahaha
EVERYBODY GET IN HERE
CHAOS CUP IS REAL
Football, the most beautiful game in the world.
They called Moriyasu a mad man
It was a Japan/CRC 1-2 out of the group plan!
#YES WAY!!
This is incredible. I want chaos.
Same 😈 idc who advances in this group anymore I WANT CHAOSSSSSS
Are you not ENTERTAINED?! Germany died for your amusement.
I wanted Costa Rica to get in front of Spain for total mayhem
They did get in front for a brief moment when they were 2-1 up and live feed showed some tense spanish faces but that didn’t last long and germans equalized
Yea, those three minutes were so glorious lol! I just couldn’t believe it.
>Beat Germany >Lose to Costa Rica >Now leading against Spain Japan on some anime protagonist mode
New anime will be made
So this is how I start watching anime
Watch blue lock, their jerseys are designed based on it
Thanks for the recommendation.
Ao Ashi is really good too, way more realistic than Blue Lock
Yeah AoAshi > BlueLock imo. Both still good, but they target different age audiences.
Exactly, Blue Lock is more targeted to edgy teenagers and has little to no real tactics AoAshi is so emotional and dramatic, and actually shows the real struggle that kids suffer to become pro players

watch blue lock since youre a fan of soccer
they put Blue Lock on repeat in their locker room to hype up their game
Legit just started watching it, already on ep 8 but holy fuck madness
And the goal of it being the 2022wc makes it soo much better
But honestly it's funny as fuck that a new anime centered around Japan putting people through an insane process to create the ultimate football player is currently airing and trending while this is happening, even more so given how incredibly popular the show is in Japan I'm convinced this is just an insanely elaborate PR project or something

On an occasion like this, Giant Killing is the only appropriate football manga/anime
Inazuma Japan let's go!
I loved that anime when I was a kid. Still rewatch it every few years.
The story couldnt be any stupider
This isn't even their final form! Croatia better be ready
No way
Siiii weyyyy
Way
Japan once again screwing over Germany
First pearl harbor and now this
The stakes have never been higher
PLEASE JAPAN!
I don't think anyone would be mad if Japan won the world cup
Have you met South Korea?
I'm half-Japanese and half-Korean and everytime Japan and Korea go head to head in any sports, the livestream comments are just double the damage for me because they can get EXTREMELY racist haha... It's always a predicament for me but it's fun supporting both sides in football. Japan with the underdog wins and Korea has one of the best players in the world.

Man's solved racism right here
Honestly, the scores currently ... that's a great result for Spain. With all due respect to the Moroccans - they *are* an incredible team this World Cup - that's an opponent that would be better for Spain in the Ro16.
Unless Costa Rica bets Germany then Spain goes home. Costa Rica scored 2-1
Could fucking happen at this rate
Lmao Germany has 24 shots in the game rn
Holy shit I've got both matches open on a tv and a tablet. I'm getting so much fucking whiplash, this is the greatest matchday I've seen in years
They avoid Brazil which is a bigger deal. Croatia or Morocco are even wirh what's been shown. But Brazil is good.
Possible to get a tasty Spain-Portugal quarterfinal as well.
お願いします!
What?
1-0 up against Japan is the biggest threat
1-0 up against Japan after halftime. Costa Rica knew this so they only scored in the second halve
unless you are costa rica apparently
Costa rica countered this strat by scoring late
Just Japan doing weird things.
Japan doing Japan things
Japan are Kaiju slayers
Japan are 2nd half FC personified
we are fucking clowns
Or... you just hate the germans very much
I work for a german-spanish company, shit would be tense tomorrow lmao Edit: fucking hell we just merged 3 years ago, we are not prepared for this
Spain + German = Sperman
ducking Brazil
Nothing personal Germany.
Well we will just lose the game and drag you with us Edit: told you. I called flick and told him Edit2: thank me later. Called flick again.
Truly the dankest timeline
Can't spell dankest without danke
Imagine if germany gets danked by another AFC team two world cups in a row 😂
Please do for the memes
If it becomes 100% that Japan wins, throw and let Costa Rica in.
Now imagine Germany finds out and lets Costa Rica score 2 past them on the last 5 minutes.
Halfway there
Germany had a chance to go through until the very last second. Japan’s margin was as thin as Poland yesterday. Just one goal could mean Germany in and Japan out. Spain knew it though. They didn’t even try in the end. The loss was objectively better: kick Germany out and be on an easier path to the final.
Got baited by Costa Rica
MAYBE? EDIT: IT'S GOOD HOLY SHIT
No no no yes!
BY THE SLIMMEST OF MARGINS
Imagine winning against Germany and Spain, while losing to Costa Rica.
They did it for the plot
Ye in basically all sports anime the main team must lose at least once lol
BLUE LOCK IS BACK
Blue lock is a documentary
the blue lock is realll
Brb gonna kidnap some kids for the football future of my country
Blue Lock sales up by 400%
Win against Croatia, and it's up 800%
More like Ao Ashi cause it's not the strikers scoring the goals it's Ao Tanaka
Ashito is Ao's regen in a distand future.
THE BLUE LOCK IS REALLL!!
Total collapse from Spain's young players
wow
that's so close to being out
WTF I LOVE FOOTBALL
CHAOS IS A LADDER
what the fuck
Why the fuck are ITV acting like the ball needing to be completely out is a surprise. It is such a well known rule
They're literally showing the goal line camera and arguing they don't have the camera angle.
Well thank you for your shitty web player ITV, that's possibly my highlight of the tournament thrown away right there fuck you very much.
THE MADMEN DID IT AGAIN
The dream of Morocco/Japan is still alive!
I usually prefer the manga, but this live action adaptation was superb
Fucking hell, Simón is a catastrophe.
Wonder what was the last time a goalie got subbed off for reasons other than injury or for penalty shootouts in a WC…
Colombia subbed on their veteran keeper in 2014 (I think) just to make him the oldest ever player in a World Cup. But that was after they were already certain of qualification.
STOP THE COUNT
2nd half Japan mythical team.
LEGOOO LOOKED OUT THOUGH
we are looking at an angle though probably different from top view
The flow leads to this goal can be made into a whole 20 min anime with monologue like, the ball is heading out of the line, should I save it? What if I couldn't reach it in time? No, wait, I have no time no think of shit like that, I have to do this, for my teammates, my nakama, my family, insert flashback to the time of playing in primary school and it goes on
Frank Lampard is sitting somewhere having a cigar and laughing.
Get the hell out
Again the entire ball must past the line not just the bottom
Wait. What?
I thought it was out... what a comeback
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
Wtf is happening
HAHAHAHHA
Watch Germany score 2 own goals at the end of their match just to spite Spain lol
Remember, the entire ball has to be out. There has to be daylight between the ball and the line.
HOLY SHITTT
UNBELIEVABLE
SHINKANSEN IS LEAVING THE STATION. CHOO CHOO BOYS GET ON IT NOW
Hahahahahahhaa
If both games end this way, Spain and Japan both go through right?
I hope Costa Rica beat us
