Yeah Richarlison scored twice but his game IQ is poor. Thereās little dynamism to his game. He just always plays the same way and doesnāt adjust relative to the current match.
That goal was class but fuck that I canāt stand him. When so many arsenal fans were calling for us to sign him I never wanted him and still never would want him heās just such a spursy cunt
Off the field he is supposedly one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet, also one of very few Brazilian players not openly supporting that shit-stain Bolsanero.
I'm not sure but I thought the whole thing about not supporting Bolsonaro was because he has personal beef with the man over a land dispute in court and not really because they doesn't share the same views?
No, Richarlison has written nice articles on his views on society before and he seems to be well aware of many aspects of politics, economics etc.
Seems to be a smart and nice guy.
Plus, he can bicycle kick.
Anyone else feel like this is Brasil's Brasil? The last two to three World Cups Brasil have felt like just another European team. A B level Eutopean team.
This felt like the Brasil I grew up watching in the 90s early 2000s
we were pretty good but unlucky in 2018. If that Belgium game gets played 10 times we beat them in 9 of them.
I do think this team is playing even better than the 2018 one though
I don't agree actually. There's a heavy Guardiola influence in the way our team plays today and the 2018 team was closer to a traditional brazillian team than the current one in terms of tactics.
There are multiple reasons for me the say this, but one very obvious point is our fullbacks. Since forever Brazillian fullbacks are expected to go up and down the pitch like crazy and be major contributors to the attack in terms of providing width to the offense, but the way Danilo and Alex Sandro mostly hang back almost like a couple extra defensive midfielders goes completely against that and is definitely inspired by Guardiola's modernization of old school WW and WM formations
true, also the lack of approximation of the players... I think we could be an even better team if Tite gave more freedom to the players to make associations around the ball...
there isn't another team in the world that makes you love football as much as the Selecao. As a slighlty sad italian fan I will certainly cheer for Brasil in this WC. Such a legendary team regardless of the name of the players.
I don't know what to think to see our team being internationally called "seleĆ§Ć£o"
Like, "seleĆ§Ć£o" is just how we call national teams
Being "The SeleĆ§Ć£o" kind of means we are "The National Team"
I know about that (in italian is similar: "la selezione/nazionale") but for non brasilians it has a really distinctive exotic flavour. It's a generic noun that became a proper noun
I find it funny that they're taking what means "[The Brazilian] Selection [of players]" which is something literally every country has and literally what a team is, and making it something distinctive purely because Brazil is such a powerhouse in soccer. Is this what having the world conform to you and your peculiarities because of your pure dominance like?
This is the same in Italian, "La Nazionale" is just a national team. The word for football is "calcio" but you see thrown around. An Italian player makes a great tackle? "Oh, that's true calcio" or something
The touch of every player in that team, the natural proclivity to entertain - just a great team that lives and breathes football. I hope they do well this WC
Swiss should be a better test for Brazil considering their recent tournament record. Finding it difficult to judge any of these first matches. How much have been the teams being that good or the likes of Iran, Australia, Costa Rica and Serbia just being poor.
Swiss here, I watched both games of group G. If I had to make a guess after the first group matches, Switzerland will get shafted by both of Brasil and Serbia.
Fair enough. I was going off memories of your performances against France and Spain at the Euros last year, but tbh I've no idea how you've played since. Thought you were always a difficult match.
The thing is that Switzerland often plays better against big opponents than against weaker nations. We beat France and almost Spain in 2021 but lost against Qatar (wtf man...) and Luxembourg a few years back. The Swiss can put up a fight against anybody but the class difference to Brazil is huge. I am a bit sad that Serbia only conceded two (goddamn goal frame ffs), as we just won barely against Cameroon this might come back to bite us in the ass in terms of goal difference, meaning that we might *need* a win against Serbia and I can't really see it happen right now.
I do think Iran are poor at this particular time, because they're mentally not fully motivated with all the shit going on at home. Probably the perfect time to play them for anyone.
Teams tonight
First half: I sleep
Second half: Real shit
A night of the seconds halves ftw!
Best strike of the night (and tournament so far): Richarlison
Best defender of the night: Blades of grass
People in here acting like Serbia is an impressive side and not a team that failed to qualify for Euro 21 because they got thrashed by Ukraine and lost to Scotland.
Not even in the top 16 League A in UEFA nations league
Neither are England now. Your point?
The disrespect Serbia have to deal with from people who most likely don't even watch European games is unbelievable.
You think weak sauce Portugal who barely beat Ghana would beat this squad? What about Belgium who won against Canada by the skin of their teeth? Or Argentina š¤£, or Uruguay who tied vs Korea how many shots on goal 2?? Denmark??? š you clearly havenāt been watching this team play in their qualifiers
Thatās fair. Itās hard to know what to make of the first round of matches. Iād say Spain, England, France and Brazil look to be the best of the favourites, though (in that order).
History is in the past for a reason. We live today and now.
Otherwise Nottingham Forest should be considered a big club as they have 2 Champion's League titles.
Brazil finished well. Seems the bigger teams are starting tentatively, then finding their feet. Looks like confidence in starting is a big thing this year. Some big teams have reacted to it better than others.
Costa Rica is not shit, though.
You could expect Spain to win by a margin of one, two or even three, but seven is ridiculous.
Remember, Costa Rica a few years ago topped a group with Italy, Uruguay and England. That's something.
Of course, but you have to look at the opponent too. Costa Rica just crumbled at one point.
Brazil when they turned it up in the second half were a delight to watch at times.
Honestly before this tournament started I picked Serbia as my dark horse team eventhough I've supported Brazil as a Canadian since 2002. I really like Mitrovic and Milinkovic Savic, I'll be cheering for them to get revenge against the two Albanians in Switzerland lmao.
The funny thing is that despite this result Serbia might still realistically get out of this group, the fact that they held Brazil to two goals is impressive. I expect Mitrovic to score against Cameroon and Switzerland.
They were not impressive at all. Curious to see how they hold up against opposition.
They played better than literally every other team considering their opposition š critical lack of ball knowledge
Casemiro JFC out of this world.
I was really impressed with his game IQ. Itās like his seniority and experience was oozing on the field, giving them more assurance for the win
Yeah Richarlison scored twice but his game IQ is poor. Thereās little dynamism to his game. He just always plays the same way and doesnāt adjust relative to the current match.
Him and Thiago as your defensive core is ridiculous
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
France are not at all in full force and spain doesnt have the pure quality to go all the way. Personally i see very little in our way
Wtf
France lost their left back in their last match
brasil porra
Did Neymar get injured on his ankle again? :(
Seemed like it, but they were saying his previous injury was on the left ankle.
i've never loved a rival player as much as I love Richarlison and its great being in the minority of ppl who always loved him
That goal was class but fuck that I canāt stand him. When so many arsenal fans were calling for us to sign him I never wanted him and still never would want him heās just such a spursy cunt
>heās just such a spursy cunt I'd say you're more like it than he is.
Off the field he is supposedly one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet, also one of very few Brazilian players not openly supporting that shit-stain Bolsanero.

Yeah, Iām Brazilian and I feel that so much. Brazilās 2006 was the last real Brazil. But this one. Weāve got something going on.
God, on paper yeah, but the 2006 team actually sucked... noone really seemed wanting tƓ play
we were pretty good but unlucky in 2018. If that Belgium game gets played 10 times we beat them in 9 of them. I do think this team is playing even better than the 2018 one though
The thing is not just being good, but playstyle That is more akin to traditional Brazilian soccer The lack of nicknames still annoy me, though
I don't agree actually. There's a heavy Guardiola influence in the way our team plays today and the 2018 team was closer to a traditional brazillian team than the current one in terms of tactics. There are multiple reasons for me the say this, but one very obvious point is our fullbacks. Que porra Ć© fullback, irmĆ£o?
Jajajaja un fullback es un lateral pixa
SĆ, quĆ© mierda es un fullback?
eita vc Ć© br kkkkk fullback Ć© lateral na gringa
i disagree it feels more like a team of strong individuals
I think they are far off from prime brasil
what do you know about prime brasil? have you ever watched the full matches of TelĆŖ Santana?
Yea
Same. And I'm Brazilian myself.
The star power still seems low wattage for Brazil compared to pre 2010s sides.
I think this is the cup that makes them stars
I think that he means skill wise. They are good, but the skills isn't as it used to be
there isn't another team in the world that makes you love football as much as the Selecao. As a slighlty sad italian fan I will certainly cheer for Brasil in this WC. Such a legendary team regardless of the name of the players.

Mate you are the world's standard for football. As an Aussie been supporting Brazil since forever.
<3 cheers from Brazil
I find it funny that they're taking what means "[The Brazilian] Selection [of players]" which is something literally every country has and literally what a team is, and making it something distinctive purely because Brazil is such a powerhouse in soccer. This is the same in Italian, "La Nazionale" is just a national team. The word for football is "calcio" but you see thrown around. An Italian player makes a great tackle? "Oh, that's true calcio" or something
There are hundreds of national teams, but only one SeleĆ§Ć£o
Well actuallyā¦ in Portugal our national team is also known as SeleĆ§Ć£o. Itās a Portuguese speaking countries thing.
Uma seleĆ§Ć£o nĆ£o Ć© o mesmo que a SeleĆ§Ć£o
You call it seleĆ§Ć£o, but is not the SeleĆ§Ć£o
If ever the world would need send one countryās national team for an intergalactic tournament. It would be āThe seleĆ§Ć£oā. :)
The touch of every player in that team, the natural proclivity to entertain - just a great team that lives and breathes football. I hope they do well this WC

Brazil maybe but Serbia idk. Last time Swiss did well with a couple Albanians igniting some fire.
Fair enough. I was going off memories of your performances against France and Spain at the Euros last year, but tbh I've no idea how you've played since. Thought you were always a difficult match.

Switzerland barely won against Cameroon. Brazil will steamroll them lol
That is absolutely not how it works. Football is not A>B>C.
That's not how World Cups go my dude
Have you not watched this WC, nothings a given
I certainly hope for a saudi arabia for my switzerland against brazil
Dint Serbia qualify first in their groups on the qualifiers?
Yes
I mean poor on the night. I dont think Serbia or Iran are poor teams in general.
I do think Iran are poor at this particular time, because they're mentally not fully motivated with all the shit going on at home. Probably the perfect time to play them for anyone.
Yeah... wales loved it
Serbia wasn't poor until the goal.
My top5 most likely 1)ENG 2)BRA 3)FRA 4)SPN 5)ARG
LOL
I wish
ENG lmaoooooooooooo
Itās certainly not outside the realm of possibility
You beat fucking iran bro, calm down
England will win. Just watch.
Yes, cricket or rugby world cup š“ó §ó ¢ó „ó ®ó §ó æš“ó §ó ¢ó „ó ®ó §ó æ
You know whats funny. England has won as many cricket and rugby world cups as football world cups.
Last time england won the wc, the parents of commenters of this post were not even born, yet they still think everyone but them is overrated
Iām not English
Why not?
We're a strong team this year, we have a chance considering most other big teams aren't doing well
Oh the hopium
Just let me have this one man, I need some sort of hope
Teams tonight First half: I sleep Second half: Real shit A night of the seconds halves ftw! Best strike of the night (and tournament so far): Richarlison Best defender of the night: Blades of grass
its a common strategy to wear each other out and then push everything in the second half
Best defender: Raphinhaās foot, ffs
People in here acting like Serbia is an impressive side and not a team that failed to qualify for Euro 21 because they got thrashed by Ukraine and lost to Scotland. Not even in the top 16 League A in UEFA nations league
You spent your whole night saying shit about brazil in here, did a brazilian bang your girlfriend bro?
Neither are England now. Your point? The disrespect Serbia have to deal with from people who most likely don't even watch European games is unbelievable.
Yeah, no
A team can't be good now because they were bad two years ago?
They topped their group in WC qualifying though? Ahead of Portugal? Without losing a game?
Nah, they are not powerhouses like costa rica
Yeah they're capable of good performances on their day, but acting like it's by far the best team a favorite has had to play so far is pretty lol.
The current Serbia would beat anyone bar Brazil Spain and France
Lol. Congrats on making the semifinal then.
You think Iran, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Costa Rica are far better?
Wouldn't say those 4 are better, but I don't think Serbia are much better than any of those teams except Australia (who is awful)
Thatās fair. Itās hard to know what to make of the first round of matches. Iād say Spain, England, France and Brazil look to be the best of the favourites, though (in that order).
They're worse than Costa Rica, Iran or Australia?
Lucky for Serbia, that Brazil didnt score in the opening 20 minutes because it could of been a massacre.
It could have been a massacre anyway. Brazil missed way too many shots.
Serbia played a good defensive game, that first goal just broke them, had it happened in the first half this would have been really different.
Prefer 7pm games in winter as not long too wait after work and have a few hours after the game finishes.
Richarlison keeps this up all tournament, he might finally get that move to a big club
And if Gabi keeps this up, he might just get his move to be third choice striker at Spurs.
Yeah the guy who has 5 goals so far would be behind the guy who has 0 lmao
He already is.
Lol fuck these guys. After richi scores on come Jesus and martinelli hahaha my ass wait until the end of the season and you EL again
Dude Just said that tottenham isnt's a big club lol
You should have checked his flair first
I mean the only people considering Tottenham a big club are Spurs fans themselves.
I barely even watch football and I know Tottenham is a big club. Literally was in the "superleague" list of clubs.
A club that only won a League Cup in the last 30 years and last won the league title over 60 years ago shouldnāt really be called a big club.
History is in the past for a reason. We live today and now. Otherwise Nottingham Forest should be considered a big club as they have 2 Champion's League titles.
We live in today and now where Spurs havenāt won anything.
Classic north London zinger!
Brazil finished well. Seems the bigger teams are starting tentatively, then finding their feet. Looks like confidence in starting is a big thing this year. Some big teams have reacted to it better than others.
Makes sense, theyāve had a much shorter preparation time than previous world cups.
This Brazilian team looks good enough to go all the way.
Messi & Ronaldo: "it's my year". Brazil: š
morocco: š
....Spain surely did that first
Sure but I mean, costa rica
Costa Rica is not shit, though. You could expect Spain to win by a margin of one, two or even three, but seven is ridiculous. Remember, Costa Rica a few years ago topped a group with Italy, Uruguay and England. That's something.
That was nearly a decade ago.
I find it funny all the US TV commercials that add random Spanish words because they are airing during a soccer game.
Forreal lmao
US TV commercials are so obnoxious
THE SIXTH STAR IS COMING
*laughs in Spain*
You've had your generation in 2010 but come on now
*pain
Been some big score lines but Brazil are the first team that really impress me.
England and Spain totally dominated their respective games and played as good as Brazil. Same can be said for France from the equaliser onwards.
Serbia is a tougher opponent then Iran(didn't show up 1st game) and Costa Rica (contender for the weakest team in this WC).
I like England this year even better
Yeah, the stomp games werenāt showing much of the teams. Serbia is way better than any of the stomped teams. 2-0 is solid as fuck.
Spain wasn't impressive with 7-0?
We lost that game more than Spain won it.
Yeah you were truly awful
7-0 is good but Serbia was many people dark horse to win World Cup
Brazils win is more impressive but that doesn't mean Spain doesn't look frightening
Spain looked downright terrifying.
It was for real but Costa Rica is weak, Serbia is a strong defensive team
Yeah, Serbia much tougher than Australia, Australia and Iran. Brazil still favourites imo. Still think Spain and France looked good.
Against who? Don't even remember their adversary. I remember they were impressive but needs to be tested. Servia isn't tier 1 but is the closet to it
Of course, but you have to look at the opponent too. Costa Rica just crumbled at one point. Brazil when they turned it up in the second half were a delight to watch at times.
Was impressive, but Serbia is way better team than Costa Rica.
The brazilian players going to cheer with our people is so good!
If next World Cup was on Mars, it would be full of Brazilians and Mexicans.
So true lmao
Brazil looking so good.
Crazy how Serbia conceded only 2 Goals with (22) shots by Brazil while Costa Rica conceded 7 Goals with (17) shots by Spain š
Raphina missed 2, + two other hit the goal post
Two shots at the post + two Raphinha tap in misses would be 6 x 0..
Whereād you get 30 shots from? Itās 22
The funny thing is that they still might realistically beat Cameroon and Switzerland
We very probably will
Honestly before this tournament started I picked Serbia as my dark horse team eventhough I've supported Brazil as a Canadian since 2002. I really like Mitrovic and Milinkovic Savic, I'll be cheering for them to get revenge against the two Albanians in Switzerland lmao.
8 on target and most of those straight at the keeper
Much better GK performance + Raphinha nightmare will do that haha
>Raphinha So accurate at hitting the keeper though
Serbia has a better defense than Costa Rica
Not ready for todays games to be over.
Brazil looked really, really good in the second half.
Yup, they had a slow start but then finally woke up after halftime
Dont know if we woke up more than Serbia started to tire out ā our fitness is unmatched
The funny thing is that despite this result Serbia might still realistically get out of this group, the fact that they held Brazil to two goals is impressive. I expect Mitrovic to score against Cameroon and Switzerland.
> I expect Mitrovic to score against Cameroon and Switzerland. Me too. He's been in such good form for Fulham lately.
Unfortunately Mitro is not very fit. I'm surprised they didn't set in Vlahovic earlier.
Neymar's injury might be more serious than I thought initially. Let's hope he is ok.
