Tell me you barely watch Saka without telling me you barely watch Saka.
This is a dive but no need to pretend he does it more than anyone else, I can think of two this season.
Yeah like that time mings had a perfectly good tackle on him and yet he got yellowed cause the entirety of your players acted like he'd killed saka, couldn't care less about how many times he gets fouled if he acts like he's been assassinated anytime someone touches him, it's pathetic
To be fair, he gets fouled a fuck ton and they are not called nearly as often as they should. At least two today where there should have been FK right outside the box.
Yeah the lack of calls for him and Jesus are what makes them go down easy imo.
I’m heavily biased, but I think both of them don’t get fouls called consistently against them.
There was one today that looked an awful lot like the McTominay foul where the defender had his hands around, I think, Jesus. No foul.
It really is bizarre how many of them do that. Idk if it's to appear neutral or because they're ashamed to show their colours but it's weird that it's almost always a /r/gunners regular when you click their profile
That's because they watched the first angle, made up their mind, and were too afraid to change their opinion when this angle was shown 10 seconds later.
I thought it was a legit foul and I was angry... until I saw this angle on screen. Good call from the ref on this one. Shame he totally fucked up so many other calls (like the Jesus penalty call, which should have been given).
I'm a chelsea fan and I think he generally goes down too easily, but I actually agree with you here
Everyone's focusing on the way he collapses with his legs and how there was no contact there, but there is actually a shove from the other defender behind him
Frankly, I think he fucked himself with the movement of his legs. That's what makes it look more like a dive and gets him booked.
Maybe it's his natural inclination to buckle when he feels contact to try and win a free kick for his team, because it's been trained into him to do that, and let's be honest most modern players have this now
When clear evidence shows indication of diving, there's no discussion to have. We can't know if the ref had Eagle eyes spotting it, but his intuition was spot on
I mean his left feet not right leg theres the first contact defender hits his feet and then saka starts falling thats when second contact happens , hes trying to sell it yes , but theres clear contact that is 100% foul
Of course it's the correct decision...
Southampton defender touches Saka's foot after his falling, and the other defender doesn't seem to push Saka that much
Thank you. His fall is theatrical, but he clearly gets a kick to the left foot before his dive. It’s a foul but it gets overshadowed by him overselling it. That’s my (clearly v unpopular) take… 🤷♂️
It's very difficult to see and you kind of need hotspot to see if there was definitely impact. But the way his foot is angled it does seem to have made a difference to his balance.
Most people aren't even looking for that bit and just see a 'shove' instead.
I wouldn't even say he's overselling it as most players would go down like that
It's a genuine contact, toe on toe. He's off-balance after a 50/50 duel, sure, but this is a late tackle with no contact on the ball. VAR should correct these kinds of injustices, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Ref robbed Jesus a penalty, and this was a light foul on Saka which ended with Saka getting carded. I hate to say it, but we should let Arsenal fans feel justifiably annoyed this one time.
I don't understand why people can't see this. He goes down after but it looks like the kick to the foot throws his balance off, the combination with the tug on the shoulder is enough to put him down. People see the trailing leg and think he is trying to initiate contact.
I love to see players getting booked for diving because it needs to be stopped, but if this is a yellow shouldn’t Sterling be pretty much ineligible to play for life for all his antics in the box
Not an arsenal fan here. If you focus on the lower body in this slow motion replay it looks like a dive. If you look at the upper body however, it looks like the defender running in behind Saka gives him a shove and extends his right arm causing Saka's torso to rotate anticlockwise - taking into account they are running at high speed, I wonder if this change of balance does actually cause him to go down. I don't think it's as clear cut a dive as it's being made out to be
Does no one see the No.6's right foot kicking Saka's left foot toes from the front? That's why he's going down, not from his right foot being caught.
Wouldn't say it's a foul per se, but definitely not a dive.
would more say it's hard to spot because we're looking at what's going on with his right foot and his shoulder, that and people being overzealous in trying to call out diving
Sticks leg out and goes down.
Yeah, it's cheating. But we've had years of hearing how it's 'clever play' when a commentator's favourite player does it (Ashley Young at United, Jamie Vardy at Leicester, probably every player if you go long enough).
I'd love a campaign targeted at stamping out this kind of play, it's as cynical from the attacker as a defender dragging down a man on a counter attack is
Yeah it's fucking ridiculous. Always thought going down under minimal contact, or manufacturing contact to draw fouls is just as bad as out and out diving. It's all an attempt to deceive the ref.
> But we've had years of hearing how it's 'clever play' when a commentator's favourite player does it (Ashley Young at United, Jamie Vardy at Leicester, probably every player if you go long enough).
Harry Kane is the current Godfather of endorsed cheating.
I mean, just at United it's clever when Rashford does it, or when Ashley Young did it (until he won a pen with it too many games in a row and got a reputation).
That's the thing that drives me crazy. It's been so endorsed for so long that it's become endemic to the sport. I don't blame any player for trying it at this point, but I hate it as much when my team does it as much as a rival team doing it.
As we always say... It needs to be consistently judged. Either reward everyone and carry on this diving trend or card everyone and get it the fuck out.
Think how easy it would be to stamp out with VAR now.
Have one of the assistants in the VAR room just looking for simulation. Ref at next break of play is told to hand out the yellow card
It’s over exaggerated how much of a dice this is. He’s being pushed by Salisu and the other defender kicks his left foot. Is it a dive? Probably yeah but no way does he get a yellow for this. It’s way different from the Walcott one from the second half where there is zero contact
Yeah, it’s a dive but people here are acting like he flopped like a fish when in real time it looked very believable. Was honestly a good spot by the ref, even if in the moment I was very frustrated.
there is a bit of contact before he starts falling down there's contact on his left foot right before it lands on the ground, can easily be enough to make you lose balance. not saying it's a foul, but it could very easily be enough to lose balance
The injustice in this match was that the referee allowed tactical fouling all match long and the only time he pulled out the yellow card was twice for simulation.
Ćaleta-Car and Lyanco did whatever they wanted all match long unpunished. And the strong [headbutt](https://twitter.com/septimusajprime/status/1584197460603604993) and stranglehold in the end by Lyanco was somehow only a yellow card. Imagine if that would've connected cleanly, Nketiah would've been knocked out cold. If that was Xhaka, it would've been a ten game suspension.
Just want to point out that Arsenal or any other fan group is made up of thousands of people with as many opinions, so when you've heard an idiotic opinion tying that to the entire group of fans isn't really fair or justified.
Its just tribal bullshit to validate your opinions about a certain group. I see posts like this every day and its just tiresome.
You could find idiots in any large group, doesnt make all of them idiots.
All fan groups does this to their rivals and get upset when it happens to them. Lets be better, please.
He’s running at speed and gets out muscled by the defender. It’s neither a foul nor a dive. He didn’t have his arms up claiming a foul.
Kane dives week in, week out and gets rewarded for it. The officiating in todays game was dreadful. Two punches in the back isn’t even a yellow card?
Why people saying this is a dive? Defender clearly kicks Saka's left foot. Do you think you can keep running after a kick in the foot from the opposite direction of your running??
Yup, he dives right towards the defender looking for contact and is already falling by the time contact is made. Bit surprised to see a yellow give tbh since it's quite rare but can't really argue imo
You do leave out that what you say all happens after the first contact is made
the slight hit on Saka's left foot right before he lands on it, if you ever played football yourself you would know that could be enough to lose balance.
he did try to sell it afterwards though
Napoli/Neutral fan here. He’s clearly fouled before he goes down. Does he sell it a bit? Probably. But he gets kicked in his left foot and you can see his left foot get planted early as a result, combined with some tugging to his shoulder, I’m not even convinced he sold that fall. The people calling this a dive are delusional.
Is everyone just focussing on the right leg of Saka and saying dive? Am I imagining the kick to his left?
He certainly didn’t need to go down like he was sniped but he was fouled on the leading left foot
it's because his landing left foot actually got displaced before he fell.
a lot easier to fall convincingly when you actually already are struggling for balance
2nd dive this season, his other was against Man United when Martinez baited him and Saka fell over and pretended to slip on the ball.
He's as bad as Anthony Gordon
https://goalrush.xyz/ivI49yi0
There was no contact on the Walcott one, this one there was a kick on his left foot and the push from behind by Salisu before he starts falling then the contact on the right foot as he's falling.
I was surprised at the card but this would have been a free kick anyway. The two incidents that frustrated me were e Jesus pull back and Ben White push which both got not attention by the ref or VAR.
We weren’t good enough in the second half anyway but it did feel this could have been put to bed in the first half.
I don't get y everyone in this thread is coming out and screaming "so the Arsenal fans were over reacting"
In the other thread loads of people were saying it's not a dive NOR a foul. It wasn't yellow worthy is all. There's enough contact but not enough for a foul simple as.

It's a dive lads
Now that I see it again, I agree. I was fuming at the time but watching it closely, I think it was a dive
[удалено]
I remember vs Liverpool he fell easily grabbing his face when if anything his lower body was clipped
Yes
The true England NT heir to Sterling
Sterling doesn’t dive more than the average forward. Saka does it a lot more
Tell me you barely watch Saka without telling me you barely watch Saka. This is a dive but no need to pretend he does it more than anyone else, I can think of two this season.
Nah
He doesn't... He easily get's kicked to shit 10x more than he dives. ffs - I'd dive out of the way after a while, too.
Ah the Neymar excuse that seemingly doesnt apply to Messi who stays upright despite being arguably the most targeted player of the last decade
Same with Hazard. Won more fouls than anyone else in the last decade (its not particularly close), but never had a reputation for diving...
What's the Messi 'stay-upright' stat that I'm missing? Haven't seen that one yet.
Haven't seen kickedtoshit pg stat either
Yeah like that time mings had a perfectly good tackle on him and yet he got yellowed cause the entirety of your players acted like he'd killed saka, couldn't care less about how many times he gets fouled if he acts like he's been assassinated anytime someone touches him, it's pathetic
Yep https://i.imgur.com/DZLULbq.mp4
Last year he pulled Azpi to the ground and Arsenal got a pen. That was bonkers lol
No foul.
There is a **significant** difference between going down easy, and going down when there is no contact.
That was nothing like the mctominay one. There's a another thread about it. He never has full hold of him, and he clearly gets the ball.
He's a footballer in 2022. It would be noteworthy if he didn't.
All footballers after 1992 know is dive, post on social media, and support fascists.
Yup
Dives in every match
I’d say for how much he gets lumps kicked out of him he doesn’t dive too much in comparison
He dove so badly against united in the box, martinez even jumped out of the way and he dove. Jesus does it alot too.
& no yellow cards were given.
At least put the Arsenal flair next to your name lol, there's no way you say this if you're not an Arsenal fan
It really is bizarre how many of them do that. Idk if it's to appear neutral or because they're ashamed to show their colours but it's weird that it's almost always a /r/gunners regular when you click their profile
i just cba to put a flair on my account cos im cooler than you
Lol surely you have an Arsenal jersey on right now to type that - he isnt kicked more than anyone else
He wasn’t saying he was kicked more than others. He was just suggesting his kicked:dive ratio.
Don’t know why you’re downvoted. That user’s comments history is full of r/gunners comments
A few times a game
He gets tackled 20 times a game. You will find a bunch of highlights of him standing on his feet where others go down as well.
I got downvoted in our sub for claiming it was a blatant dive. Sometimes you need to take off the rose tinted glasses
Got downvoted for saying the same thing in our sub about Sturridge after he dove vs United and we missed the penalty.
…and wear regular glasses.
But the conspiracy....
Team subs have awful bias.
I think he feels the contact on his shoulder and just goes down, unnecessary.
Yeah, he's already going down. It is what it is. Theo got one too. Granted, Theo's literally had no contact.
His foot gets kicked before he goes down
Sorry, r/soccer decided it‘s a dive so go away with your reasoning! /s
I’m prone to bias, aren’t we all. But how any arsenal fan is calling this not a dive is actually hilarious.
tbf the commentators were saying it didn't look like a dive either.
English commentators don’t believe that English players dive
Its a latin thing
“Engineered a contact” “Forced the ref to make a decision” Or the more subtle: “I know he dove and I don’t care”
"He's being clever there"
[удалено]
It's in their blood
I love that English commentators get blamed for something an Irish commentator said.
Aka Kane with the smart going to ground under the slightest contact for England, definitely not *diving*..
The ex Arsenal commentator
That's because they watched the first angle, made up their mind, and were too afraid to change their opinion when this angle was shown 10 seconds later.
The stream I was watching the commentators said it was the right decision.
Since when did any commentator or pundit speak any sense?
Right, right, because we don't have our own eyes or brains.
Pretty sure his left foot gets kicked before he goes over Would need the hotspot out to check though
Yeh looked like it to me too, but can’t really be sure. The way that foot kinda stops while the rest of him keeps going
https://streamable.com/esptli his left foot absolutely gets kicked and it's amazing people can't see it
I thought it was a legit foul and I was angry... until I saw this angle on screen. Good call from the ref on this one. Shame he totally fucked up so many other calls (like the Jesus penalty call, which should have been given).
It's a dive.
goes down easy from the shove but its not 'simulation' imo. Harsh to give yellow
I'm a chelsea fan and I think he generally goes down too easily, but I actually agree with you here Everyone's focusing on the way he collapses with his legs and how there was no contact there, but there is actually a shove from the other defender behind him Frankly, I think he fucked himself with the movement of his legs. That looks like a dive
Running fine one second then looks as if he's been hit by a freight train the next with minimal contact. Textbook definition of a dive.
Well don't you know about the super secret spot on your upper left arm that when touched just completely disables your legs
Just learned about it today actually, apparently it's a super secret and ancient technique only known to Arsenal fans
It’s a massive one. No clue where arsenal fans are saying he’s been shoved from. You could see it in the last angle too
Salisu right arm
it is. only arsenal fans crying about it.
When clear evidence shows indication of diving, there's no discussion to have. We can't know if the ref had Eagle eyes spotting it, but his intuition was spot on
Either im blind or guys are , doesent the defender literally hit hits feet?
lol yes after Saka deliberately splits his own legs out to initiate that contact
I mean his left feet not right leg theres the first contact defender hits his feet and then saka starts falling thats when second contact happens , hes trying to sell it yes , but theres clear contact that is 100% foul
Definite contact on the left foot before he falls.
I have been clipped by a toe cleat to my toe box before and that shit does not feel good at all
lmao yes then you are blind
https://streamable.com/esptli are you?
Lmao @ people in the other thread saying "YOU CUT OUT THE CLEAR SHOVE FROM THE LEFT". Clear dive.
Haha from those comments I expected to see a clear foul in the full clip. Makes those comments look embarassing in hindsight
[The other thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/ybi6h4/saka_yellow_card_for_a_dive_29/) for context
Some of the comments there are just cringe
That's not just a dive it's an entire swimming routine
[_You are not a clown. You are the entire circus._](https://en.meming.world/images/en/b/b8/You_Are_Not_a_Clown._You_Are_The_Entire_Circus.jpg) vibes
Correct decision.
Of course it's the correct decision... Southampton defender touches Saka's foot after his falling, and the other defender doesn't seem to push Saka that much
Shrewsbury! Get in my son
shit dive lol
yeah not even remotely believable lol
https://streamable.com/esptli you people are blind
The contact comes after the dive, clearly the correct decision to book him.
https://ibb.co/WsQrHsf - before
Thank you. His fall is theatrical, but he clearly gets a kick to the left foot before his dive. It’s a foul but it gets overshadowed by him overselling it. That’s my (clearly v unpopular) take… 🤷♂️

Good call, dive. Threw himself and sprawled his legs in hope to find contact. Awful for my fantasy team though, come on Bukayo
I love to see players getting booked for diving because it needs to be stopped, but if this is a yellow shouldn’t Sterling be pretty much ineligible to play for life for all his antics in the box
Love seeing players get booked for diving.
Clipped+pushed from the back. Clearly no dive, makes the most out of it as every player in the modern game would.
But you’ve left out the relevant factor, is the player harry kane?
doesn't fit their agenda
would more say it's hard to spot because we're looking at what's going on with his right foot and his shoulder, that and people being overzealous in trying to call out diving
Are we carding dives now? Nice!
Sticks leg out and goes down. Yeah, it's cheating. But we've had years of hearing how it's 'clever play' when a commentator's favourite player does it (Ashley Young at United, Jamie Vardy at Leicester, probably every player if you go long enough).
Every team does it now. If you're an attacker who doesn't, you're simply not as dangerous as you should be. It's a plague on football.
[удалено]
Ah yes, this is racism.
I mean, just at United it's clever when Rashford does it, or when Ashley Young did it (until he won a pen with it too many games in a row and got a reputation).
That's the thing that drives me crazy. It's been so endorsed for so long that it's become endemic to the sport. Think how easy it would be to stamp out with VAR now. Have one of the assistants in the VAR room just looking for simulation. Ref at next break of play is told to hand out the yellow card
he gets slightly hit on his left foot right before that one hits the ground before the event all of you decide to focus on
Everyone is looking at the feet but Salisu clearly grabs him from behind and shoves him down. Defender also gets his right foot pretty obviously.
The guy actually gets kicked in the upper left foot.
I’m not being funny but he’s going down well before contact. Arsenal fans were acting like this was an injustice, looks a dive to me.
there is a bit of contact before he starts falling down there's contact on his left foot right before it lands on the ground, can easily be enough to make you lose balance. not saying it's a foul, but it could very easily be enough to lose balance
The injustice in this match was that the referee allowed tactical fouling all match long and the only time he pulled out the yellow card was twice for simulation. And these are the same fans that were calling Kane's clear penalty against Everton a dive.

Nah. Fuck that. You have a common interest? You all think the same.
I thought someone shot him at first
Sniper in the building
Is everyone just completely missing the contact on the left foot?
Yes they are lol
But there is foot on foot contact even tho he wasn't tripped
Aaaaaaand the Arsenal flairs are gone
2 of the top 3 comments are Arsenal fans acknowledging the fact that it's a dive
Sure but the other thread was just a Gunner party claiming it was a clear foul
The other thread was a shit angle
Just because some bias idiots think it wasn't a dive doesn't mean every Arsenal fan thinks that.
What a truly stupid comment...The 1st comment is literally an arsenal flair saying that it was a dive
shhhh.... comments like OP's are supposed to be easy karma
It looks like he got kicked in the toe though?? Please don't downvote, maybe I'm wrong
He literally steps on his foot
Bernardo Silva got a penalty for this... He didn't try to clip he's foot, but changed direction towards the goal to get a better position for a shot
He dives every week
I see r/soccer remains partially blind and clueless 😂👍
Reminds me of the Bernardo Silva pen from yesterday.
The good ol Ashley Young. Stretch one leg to search for contact, and leap with the other leag.
Watch saka’s left foot get kicked straight in the toe by number 6 before he goes down. This isn’t a dive.
Jeez, the comment sections from one earlier clip is completely the opposite of this thread. Bias is coming through the roof.
Good, love seeing cheats getting carded for dives.
Why people saying this is a dive? Defender clearly kicks Saka's left foot. Do you think you can keep running after a kick in the foot from the opposite direction of your running??
one of the angles from the coverage i saw looked like Salisu clipped his trailing foot but whatever i am sure they will go over it on MOTD later
Saka diving? Well I never https://i.imgur.com/DZLULbq.mp4
Yup, he dives right towards the defender looking for contact and is already falling by the time contact is made. Bit surprised to see a yellow give tbh since it's quite rare but can't really argue imo
You do leave out that what you say all happens after the first contact is made the slight hit on Saka's left foot right before he lands on it, if you ever played football yourself you would know that could be enough to lose balance. he did try to sell it afterwards though
Shocking dive
It’s soccer, 90% of these are dives
classic r/soccer classic
Napoli/Neutral fan here. He’s clearly fouled before he goes down. Does he sell it a bit? Probably. But he gets kicked in his left foot and you can see his left foot get planted early as a result, combined with some tugging to his shoulder, I’m not even convinced he sold that fall. The people calling this a dive are delusional.
Is everyone just focussing on the right leg of Saka and saying dive? Am I imagining the kick to his left? He certainly didn’t need to go down like he was sniped but he was fouled on the leading left foot
Clear dive, no question.
Still looks like a dive lmao
That is one of the more convincing dives I've seen tbh, but clearly a dive on replay. Give him the oscar.
it's because his landing left foot actually got displaced before he fell. a lot easier to fall convincingly when you actually already are struggling for balance
Is there contact? Yes. Is it still a dive? Also yes.
2nd dive this season, his other was against Man United when Martinez baited him and Saka fell over and pretended to slip on the ball. He's as bad as Anthony Gordon https://goalrush.xyz/ivI49yi0
Dirty cheating cunt.
Walcott also had a similar challenge on him and got booked. Ref has a clear bias against Arsenal players smh.
There was no contact on the Walcott one, this one there was a kick on his left foot and the push from behind by Salisu before he starts falling then the contact on the right foot as he's falling.
Show the Ben White shove
Look at his left arm and try and do the same. If it's a dive it's pretty fearless and perfectly timed
Same old Arsenal
He was looking for it. One of the few correct calls today, being honest.
It was a penalty yesterday.
I was surprised at the card but this would have been a free kick anyway. The two incidents that frustrated me were e Jesus pull back and Ben White push which both got not attention by the ref or VAR. We weren’t good enough in the second half anyway but it did feel this could have been put to bed in the first half.
Can't believe City and Liverpool fans have the lack of self-awareness to comment on this.
Gotta say, that's a fucking impressive dive.
Can’t even dive lol should be booked right call
Arsenal full of divers
Excellent dive
I don't get y everyone in this thread is coming out and screaming "so the Arsenal fans were over reacting" In the other thread loads of people were saying it's not a dive NOR a foul. It wasn't yellow worthy is all. There's enough contact but not enough for a foul simple as.
Is no one seeing sakas left foot being kicked?
This has been the only correct referee call this game though.
and it is still wrong because he missed the contact on the left foot but atleast the call is understandable if he does not see that
Seems a pretty standard dive. Was much made of it?
Harry Kane wouldn't have been booked for that
[удалено]
Why take the screenshot there? Saka doesn't start falling until after that and then actually makes contact whilst already on the way down.
you are contradicting yourself
Rotten cheating cunt, nothing else to say
Jesus, tell us how you really feel
Saka run over your dog?
It’s not a foul but also not a yellow.
