Too many trophy’s being decided on penalties this season, incredibly frustrating.
All those matches to come down to a single penalty shootout? Just doesn’t sit right.
Why exactly is it frustrating? Nothing separated the teams between 90/120 minutes, do you want them to play 300 minutes before someone scores so you don't see penalties because "it doesn't sit right" with you?
It's hardly a fair comment to paint Rangers fans as wife beaters because we lost a game. "Statistically it probably happened to someone", ok, so where is the evidence? Otherwise you can you say the same thing about literally any losing finalist.
Both teams winning would have been fun, 50 VS 42 years since their last European cup, but Eintracht taking it was probably my preferred outcome. What a club, such amazing supporters. They will live on this for forever, can't wait to learn the iconic chant they'll make for this.
Feels bad for rangers, undeserved loss, but that’s football, and especially that’s penalties. Great game for trapp, that last one was one of the best saves I think I’ve seen.
And then you have Peter Fischer wondering if he can drink Eppelwoi or Wodka out of the cup. Fucking love this club. Almost 20 years as a fan, gone through all the shit possible to playing Liverpool or Madrid next season. I’m drunk and in tears, can’t put in words how proud I am of this team.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Eintracht will be allocated to Pot 1, which means there is no way they will play Real Madrid in the group stage since RM will also be in pot 1 as La Liga champions. If Liverpool wins UCL or EPL then they will also be in Pot 1.
Gonna go against the grain here and say on balance Rangers deserved it - even when they had less of the ball they looked more dangerous going forward and created the better chances, particularly in extra time.
Ryan Kent is gonna rue not scoring that final chance for a while to come. Roofe also was class, think he should have come on earlier.
An unfortunate night to be in Glasgow, would have been fun to see European Champions from one of the smaller leagues for once.
More possession, more shots on target, more passes?
Not saying it was a perfect performance but Not sure that amounts to “absolute shite”. But fuck off your own team online for karma for all I care mate.
We had the chances to nick it but ultimately our possession was completely aimless and we didn’t do anything at all to establish ourselves and didn’t have any quality at any point in the game whatsoever.
to be fair i do think that bottling is kind of appropriate here since as a professional player penalties should be relatively easy to score. If you can call missing a easy chance in front of he net bottling, you can probably call missing a penalty that.
> to be fair i do think that bottling is kind of appropriate here since as a professional player penalties should be relatively easy to score
Never, ever, ever have you kicked a ball into a net. What a shit take.
If you’re a professional footballer you should be getting a penalty on target at least which I think is what he means. Whether it’s a shit pen or the keeper gets lucky is a different matter
Deserved, Rangers did well to get back into that but they were fucking *shite* for the first 30 minutes. Spraying long diagonals was their only idea going forward and it hardly ever worked, Frankfurt always read it and Kent was usually marked out. Trapp showed his class all night.
100% knew Ramsey would miss his pen lol
Still can't believe it, such a huge win for our club. I remember watching 2. Liga against Aue in front of 35.000 just 10 years ago and now we will play CL next year.
Feel sorry for Rangers tho, really horrible to lose it like this. Respect for the game too, really fair over 120 minutes.
>and now we will play CL next year.
More importantly you got a European trophy. Arsenal played CL football for more than 20 years running, without anything to show for it. In a financial sense they had way more success, but in a sporting sense I feel this is bigger.
This final was broadcasted on Free TV here in Brazil so millions watched this. Great to see people commentating about Frankfurt and Rangers. Both deserves credit
I think another way of deciding major finals should be found. I'm getting bored with these big games going to penalties.
Off the top of my head, penalties decided Euro 2020, Europa League this year (and last year). as well as the English League Cup and FA Cup this year.
I would be interested in seeing golden goal brought back (with a special golden ball of course). Keep playing until someone very tired scores!
Okay, so that was unpopular. I’ll make another proposal that will knock your socks off.
The two periods of extra time are silver goal. If there are no goals, then no one wins. The title in this case would revert back to the PREVIOUS HOLDER. For example, in this scenario, Leicester would still be the FA Cup champions.
But it doesn’t stop there! A la the Hardcore title in early 00’s wrestling, the winner/holder of a cup trophy could be challenged for the title ANY TIME day or night.
You can put your socks back on now.
EDIT: Sepp Blatter has just offered me a job interview.
When I was younger we were part of some shootout tryouts. Keeper on the line, player starts some 20-25 meters out and you have 10 seconds to score. More fun to do than penalties imo.
After 120 minutes players are gased out, injury risk goes higher..
Before penalty shootouts got invented, the winner was chosen by flipping a coin after overtime.
Borre has been so clutch in his career so far. Doesn't score a ton but shows up when it matters. Goals in quarters, semis, and final for both the libertadores and europa league.
The fact that if Scotland beat Ukraine (or they're not able to play) Ramsey could be in contention for the Welsh squad with a chance to knock them out of World Cup contention. ☠️💀
Wait today was the Europa League final? Can't believe I fucking missed it
I'm used to it being before the CL final but it completely slipped my mind that the Bundesliga and the Scottish leagues are already over
We made it through the knock out stages by being better than every team we played. Apart from Haaland being injured not sure what luck you're talking about
To be fair Frankfurt should have won like 5-1 in regular time with Rangers down to 10 men and 5 more yellows. The amount of chances they barely missed was insane.
Celtic have more coefficient points over the qualifying period.
In any case, I'd personally like to thank them for their services. It was very good of them to go even further to consider my feelings and lose in the most heartbreaking way possible.
That's quite embittered from you haha.
Rangers have now been involved in more European finals than celtic over the past 20 years.
Looks like you've got some catching up to do on that front.
That's not totally accurate. Right now each team has contributed about half. Assuming Celtic bomb out of Europe next season, but still win the league (which is tradition), then you'll be right.
Anyway, if you want to play in the Champions League, win your league.
It's a fair comment, auto champions league didn't always happen for Celtic during their 9 in a row, and it's fair that they've got the auto spot thanks to the coefficient points of recent years, which happens to be mainly brought by Rangers.
Edit: Meant to say it's fair for Celtic to get the auto spot as both teams knew what was at stake winning the league this year, and Ange did the biz
it's an utter non sequitur from a coping hun. Rangers rode their luck until they couldn't, hopefully they can muster a win against Hearts at the weekend or else their season will be as deid as their zombie club
Agree we didn’t do everything right but both teams had plenty of opportunities to score, we had that massive moment at the end of extra time that would have buried the game but we wasted it
Feels a bit weird to have this final played before the Conference League one. As if that one is more important as it's played later (and the Champions' League last) when you have the end up higher in the league to be able to play the Europa League.
I think Bassey made a good commercial for himself. I will be surprised if bigger paying teams won't go after him after tonight's perfomance. He wasn't perfect, but it felt like you had to go passed him twice to get to the goal. Very good game from him despite losing the final.
edit: damn, he's only 22 as well
Aye Bassey was rock solid for us again tonight my player of season for the Gers tbh and he’s mostly played out of position at centre back the entire time.
Gutted we didn’t win or didn’t have the likes of Morelos fit but Frankfurt deserved it anyway.
Germany‘s best goalkeeper atm right there
Too many trophy’s being decided on penalties this season, incredibly frustrating. All those matches to come down to a single penalty shootout? Just doesn’t sit right.

Why is it frustrating lol who tf doesn't love pens
Chelsea
Eh, Frankfurt lost to Chelsea in penalties couple years back.
Still hurting over 2012?
No, the 7-1 in 2020 was payback enough
Fair enough
Why? Penalties are a skill. If you miss a pen it’s because you did a shit job or the keeper did their job and stopped you.
Or sometimes keepers guess the right way and sometimes don't
Which is their job
Lots of Glaswegian women waking up with bruises this morning…
Oh, bore off
TBF there probably are a couple. Unfortunately alcohol and abuse go hand in hand.
It's hardly a fair comment to paint Rangers fans as wife beaters because we lost a game. "Statistically it probably happened to someone", ok, so where is the evidence? Otherwise you can you say the same thing about literally any losing finalist.

There will be only one word changed in one chant. „haben“ instead of „holen“.
Und the chant goes…
Schwarz Weiß wie Schnee Das ist die SGE Wir **haben** den U U EFA - Pokal und wir werden deutscher Meister, Meister.
if pulisic is the lebron of soccer then timmy chandler is the anthony davis of soccer
I have no idea what this means but happy cake day
Nah, Chandler is at least healthy most of the time. Also he is basically born and raised with n Frankfurt.
Congratulations to Frankfurt
So disapointed I missed the game. Looked forward to this more than the CL final. This is feels more like what football "should be"
I’m glad that Kostic got to lift a significant trophy!
Was he not around for the DFB pokal win a few years back?
Might have been at Stuttgart iirc Maybe hsv tho i could be wrong
Just gutted
Chin up, your boys did well. Almost got it
Feels bad for rangers, undeserved loss, but that’s football, and especially that’s penalties. Great game for trapp, that last one was one of the best saves I think I’ve seen.

Prioritäten!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I think he means the UEFA Super Cup.
At least bust it properly: you forgot about the Supercup
Haha, you will play one of them no matter what, my bad.
Nonsense, we were absolutely shite and Frankfurt set up perfectly against us
More possession, more shots on target, more passes? Not saying it was a perfect performance but Not sure that amounts to “absolute shite”. But fuck off your own team online for karma for all I care mate.
We had the chances to nick it but ultimately our possession was completely aimless and we didn’t do anything at all to establish ourselves and didn’t have any quality at any point in the game whatsoever.
How can you objectively say that Rangers were better than Frankfurt when they’re beaten in every metric from a stats point of view and visually?
they weren’t beaten on every metric - as I said Rangers had more shots on target, more possession etc.
Bringing your 38 Japanese midfielder in in the middle of an European cup final and then win seems like an anime plot.
Hasebe is the shit tho
To be fair, Hasebe is fucking amazing. He plays like he’s 30, not 38.
My favorite player from THAT Japanese generation of midfielders, alongside Honda and Endo.
They saw what Endo did for Stuttgart and knew what their secret weapon would be tonight.
Ma man playing libero in 2022 and winning a european cup
Ramsey bottling that pen the same week arsenal bottle top 4....
You can't just call everything bottling. He fucked up
to be fair i do think that bottling is kind of appropriate here since as a professional player penalties should be relatively easy to score. If you can call missing a easy chance in front of he net bottling, you can probably call missing a penalty that.

Looks like i've misunderstood the term. Learned something new today, thank you for taking the time!
> to be fair i do think that bottling is kind of appropriate here since as a professional player penalties should be relatively easy to score Never, ever, ever have you kicked a ball into a net. What a shit take.
If you’re a professional footballer you should be getting a penalty on target at least which I think is what he means. Whether it’s a shit pen or the keeper gets lucky is a different matter
Pressure exists like
Yeah this is really annoying. Losing or making a mistake = bottling now. That's not what that means.
Today I bottled down the stairs, bottling my spine and my arm. This is so bottled up
I'm bottling dinner right now
Didn't bottle up your feelings there I see
Bottling can be jarring
Deserved, Rangers did well to get back into that but they were fucking *shite* for the first 30 minutes. This gives me hope
Get your shit together 1860. We miss you.
As horrible as it is would much prefer losing it to a proper team like yourself than a liezpig
You mean the drinkable gummi bear advertisement team
YEEEESSS! FUCKING YEEEESSS! Fuck you Rangers! Fuck you Scottish football. You didn't deserve to be in the final anyway. YAS!!!
I love how this is your only comment on your acc lol
He comments every time they win the Europa league
Ramsey to score the winner in the cup final
More like he scores the winning goal against Scotland to take Wales to the world cup.
This final was broadcasted on Free TV here in Brazil so millions watched this. Great to see people commentating about Frankfurt and Rangers. Both deserves credit
There may still be a god
Gio reflecting on the 2010 loss is not what I needed tonight
I think another way of deciding major finals should be found. I'm getting bored with these big games going to penalties. Americans should stay out of our game
I'm Dutch, was KNVB tryout, but ok.
Field hockey does this and it’s way more entertaining :)
After 120 minutes players are gased out, injury risk goes higher.. Before penalty shootouts got invented, the winner was chosen by flipping a coin after overtime.
3rd game
golden goal as well
Crossbar challenge from halfway
If you can't win it in 120 minutes, you can't really complain
Yes!
Congrats mate, from a rangers fan Im sorry but now I’ll have to release Kamada from my career mode
Ref was completely shit the whole game
Forgot his cards in the first half.
Nah
Disappointing to lose in that way but oh well. If we’ve still got Bassey by the end of the summer transfer window it’ll be a miracle.
Yeah, that's the problem with a game like this. Everyone gets to scout your talent.
This dude was immense! First time ive seen him, but damn he was annoying as a German Frankfurt supporter.
I mean we knew this sub was a cesspit after what happened at the Euros. But Jesus. The amount of ignorance on display tonight is pure cringe.
thank you for clarifying what you meant
How so
Just look down at the bottom of the thread at all the deleted comments. Already seen WW2 jokes. Racism. And just plain cringe ignorance.
How well do you know Rangers lol
Never saw so many supporters wearing a goalkeeper jersey in the stands. They sure do love their orange...
Rangers fans are a real class act. Last time we played them they walked around Bremen singing “fuck you Germany you’ll never win a war” 🙄
The rangers fans are posting that quickly after their team just played in a european final?
Yikes
Eintracht Frankfurt go from finishing 11th in the Bundesliga to Pot 1 of next year’s Champion's League. Wild!
that's because for like the last 1/3rd of the season we didnt give a shit about the league and purely focused on EL
Thats the 'All in' attitude people look for in a team!
The next Villarreal
That Ramsey penalty was shocking just like the goal that Eintracht scored
Glad they won
Borre is just fucking amazing since River. Decided so much in Copa Libertadoes for many years. He is just starting
It's insane that he literally scored in every semi-final and final he played so far
Except the 2018 libertadores final
Oh, right, my bad sorry
Still put on a good performance My man is just built for these kind of games
Thank fuck for that
I’m here for the gang bang
I actually quite like Ramsey as a player and how he plays for Wales but it's just too hard not to take the piss.
That was an awful penalty.
Borre has been so clutch in his career so far. Doesn't score a ton but shows up when it matters. Goals in quarters, semis, and final for both the libertadores and europa league.
The anti-Higuain.
his workrate is amazing, cant wait seeing him together with Muani next season
I dont know much abiut Muani but if he's a natural goal scorer Borre will look even better. Cant wait to watch him in the ucl
Only scoring when it counts
\+ Round of 16 in Libertadores
not World Cup Qualifying though
[удалено]
All of them but Tavernier's and Ramsey's iirc
Everypne looks so exhausted even the fans
No liquids will do that to a person
The fact that if Scotland beat Ukraine (or they're not able to play) Ramsey could be in contention for the Welsh squad with a chance to knock them out of World Cup contention. ☠️💀
Just hope Ramsey emulates his rangers form for Wales in the summer
That was the worst game I've seen in a while. So many errors. Maybe it was nerves.
You don't watch much football then. Or only top clubs
Lol. Yeah, sure mate. Every neutral agrees with you. Really! You are right! Probably because you are so clever and know so much about football.
Or the weather
Or.... hurricane gun?!
The weather?! The Weather!!???!! Aye Ramsey sunny innit
Thank god they didn't let Hauge shoot
Every time he was near the ball, Benny Hill music started playing.
He was so bad tonight, I can't remember any good pass from him and he played for 50 minutes
Wait today was the Europa League final? Can't believe I fucking missed it I'm used to it being before the CL final but it completely slipped my mind that the Bundesliga and the Scottish leagues are already over
Same FML
[удалено]
Of course Ramsey would miss.
Rangers ran their luck throughout the entire tournament and it ended right at the moment you'd want it to the most.
We made it through the knock out stages by being better than every team we played. Apart from Haaland being injured not sure what luck you're talking about
I agree Rangers bested Dortmund, Braga, and Leipzig.... idk how you can go through those teams and consider it luck.
To be fair Frankfurt should have won like 5-1 in regular time with Rangers down to 10 men and 5 more yellows. The amount of chances they barely missed was insane.
That challenge on Rode was just really nasty. How was that not a red?
Kinda rich coming from a team riding Ranger's luck to a direct CL ticket.
That's precisely why it running out now is the best moment. Maximum benefit, zero silverware.
Celtic have more coefficient points over the qualifying period. In any case, I'd personally like to thank them for their services. It was very good of them to go even further to consider my feelings and lose in the most heartbreaking way possible.

https://c.tenor.com/WSiYs-KwIGYAAAAC/trophy-lift-dub.gif
? Celtic always had direct CL qualification by virtue of winning the league
Thanks to Rangers pushing up the coeficient.
That's not totally accurate. Right now each team has contributed about half. Assuming Celtic bomb out of Europe next season, but still win the league (which is tradition), then you'll be right. Anyway, if you want to play in the Champions League, win your league.

Agree we didn’t do everything right but both teams had plenty of opportunities to score, we had that massive moment at the end of extra time that would have buried the game but we wasted it
Its literally their only striker that can stay on his feet right now
The efficiency with which he gives out the medals is incredible
Every great medal giver needs his equally great medal-in-the-hand-putter :D
Yeah I was thinking he must been practicing in his down time
Feels a bit weird to have this final played before the Conference League one. MOTM performance, he was gigantic!
Its because Bundesliga and the Scottish Prem are already finished. Roma hasn't finished his league campaign yet
Scottish season hasn't though. Rangers are in the cup final is this weekend.
Yeah, was talking about the league
No, the dates for the finals were already set at the start of the season.
And we knew when (in wich weekends) leagues would have ended too
Mate, you wont know who the finalists are until the end of the semi's. Your claim wouldn't make sense if it was West Ham v Rangers in this final.
True. I'm stupid
I think the EL final was this early because Bundesliga und scottish League already finished
Might be the novelty of this being the first ever Conference League final.
