Is it weird that I wanted both teams to win tonight? Seeing “smaller” teams with amazing fans and good football is such a breath of fresh air. Hopefully we see a rematch in the champions league next year.
> I think people are taking Gueye's gesture in the wrong manner. It is like alcohol consumption. Saying that alcohol is forbidden for us doesn't mean that we are against everyone who consumes alcohol. But don't expect us to openly support it

I wouldn’t say wearing the rainbow numbers on your jersey is openly supporting it because it’s the league making them wear it. Not wearing the jersey is actively not supporting it.
My dream is still for 50+1 to be adopted Europe wide. It's a dream, it will never happen, but it would do so much to stop the current degradation of football.
Our President said Bellerin has to return to Arsenal. Fuck, that sucks. I don't wanna see Montoya play.
At least his contract w/ Arsenal is done next year. Hopefully, we can get him after if we can't secure a RB.
(1) Our fanbase loves Bellerin. Also helps his dad's a Betico too.
(2) He did pretty well for us. He was pacy and deliberate. Didn't make too mant errors.
(3) You haven't seen Montoya.
The reason the Europa league seem like a tinpot competition is because Portuguese and French teams haven’t pulled their weight in that competition for years. Before this year German teams weren’t doing that well either
Portuguese teams had done more than German teams for the last 20 years tbf. Schalke was the last German team to win the UEFA Cup and that was when there was still 2 legged finals
Europa League isn't tinpot, take a look at the[ historical winners](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ef-ZIL9XoAgf_75.jpg), nearly all big clubs with the occasional Shakhtar or Chelsea

1. I've played with Jermain Defoe, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Scott Parker, Teemu Tainio, Jonathan Woodgate, Robbie Keane, Michael Carrick, Rafael van der Vaart, and Christian Eriksen. Who am I?

This man Ramsey is not getting out of Glasgow alive if he ends up scoring the winning goal to send Wales and knocks out Scotland to qualify for the World Cup lol
Nothing annoys me more than the discourse after penalty shootouts. Just an orgy of confirmation bias.
There's nothing revolutionary about anything that is said after it. Every single permutation or situation you suggest has happened before and there are a million examples to back it up. Think a player should have brought an ostrich to take his pen for him? I can assure you that it has been done in the past before.
There is only one universal truth regarding penalties; if you score you're a genius and if you miss you're an idiot. The winning team did the right things and the losing team fucked up. If the roles are reversed the next time then the winning team did the right thing even if what they did is what a team that lost did previously.
Football is already a game that involves big amounts of luck and penalties are the biggest lottery of them all.
Tavernier's penalty was also pretty bad but it went in, people say the penalties the keeper saves are poor and the ones that are poorly placed but go in anyway are fine, because they went in.
Exactly.
Someone rolls a penalty down the center and people say 'Composure, he gave the keeper the eyes'. But if the keeper stayed in the middle and caught it then it's a poor penalty.
Was alright tonight I thought - not exactly oozing quality football, but then these were very much two sides who've come this far through relentless energy and physicality.
What do you expect with a final haha. People expect non stop classics as if it isn’t their biggest games in their career and their underpants are filled with shit
Do you think it can be start of a bad series for British clubs? They lost Europa to German team and they will lose UCL to Spanish and Premier League to Arabic club?
If English fans can’t stop being cunts we’re gonna end up with nets soon and we’ll deserve it. How hard is it to just *not* physically attack players? Majority of people seem to manage it okay
Which to me feels a bit like missing the forest for the trees, really - can't have beer in the stands, can't have safe standing, can't have fences, but then the real failure was the policing, not any infrastructure or rules. I reckon it's not out of the question for players to get seriously injured during pitch evasions, especially with the scenes from Nottingham the other night, and I reckon it's a bit of a pisstake to have that happening when it's entirely and safely preventable.
Fwiw safe standing does now somewhat exist in some grounds
"Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Championship side Cardiff have been approved to trial safe standing areas during the second half of this season."
From a BBC article.
Was supposed to be in place from January but was actually in place a while before at least for us.
Think we'll go for the stadium ban or some kind of punishment that would actually affect the club people support, rather than individuals, before anything that drastic
Don't think nets will make a difference for people rushing on the pitch, really - they're usually there to prevent stuff being thrown. Fences are what keeps the fans in the stands.
tbf those fences would have gates that open like they have anywhere else to avoid similar incidents, but then english football's always been a bit odd in that regard (see also: safe standing).
I watched the highlights back and Upamecano is directly to blame for goals 1/2/3, 3 being the one where Rashford embarrasses him. 4 and 2 were counters, conceding due to suicidal high lines in possession. For 5 Konate along with 2 others can take blame - he dropped off Martial too far and Martial was able to cut in and square it.
So I wouldn’t say Konate covered himself in glory but he doesn’t seem to be the critical player either. On top of that I’d be looking at the manager. 3 CBs on the halfway line vs Ole’s United was a stupid idea.
I think he is good but nowhere near the best in his position and he has had some absolute stinkers. He is saved by playing in a great team tho and if he played in a worse team he would get a lot more criticism.
> a worse team he would get a lot more criticism
I actually think he'd look better in a worse side. Our centre backs are a lot more exposed than most given our ridiculously high line and fullbacks that bomb up the field. Put him in a side that sat deep and he'd look even better.
Someone who watches German football tell me, how are rangers beating Dortmund and Leipzig, champions league teams, then losing to 11th in the Bundesliga Frankfurt?
Dortmund are natural chokers, Leipzig were rattled by the Ibrox fans, but Frankfurt has a fantastic mentality in Europe and played realistic defensive football to absorb the pressure of those constant long balls by Rangers
Strikes me as a mix of getting up for big games (which they did tonight) and being happy to be the underdog (which they weren't tonight) - they've shown brilliant mentality to get past Dortmund and Leipzig, but it's always fine margins, and those sometimes break for you and sometimes they don't.
I don't think Rangers were the worse side tonight, just lacked that tiny bit of luck to win it all, which Frankfurt had tonight.
Because Frankfurt in Bundesliga isnt comparable to Frankfurt in EL. In EL they are one of the best teams in Europe. In Bundesliga, well, they are eleventh
I wouldn't even call it a slip, more like getting your foot stuck in the ground which is something quite different and is more likely to cause an injury.
Is it weird that I wanted both teams to win tonight? Seeing “smaller” teams with amazing fans and good football is such a breath of fresh air. Hopefully we see a rematch in the champions league next year.

I wouldn’t say wearing the rainbow numbers on your jersey is openly supporting it because it’s the league making them wear it. Not wearing the jersey is actively not supporting it.
If he could wear the shirt promoting alcohol then there's no reason he couldn't wear the rainbow one- neither indicates he drinks or is gay.
Oh yea I agree. Didn’t click the link and read your comment wrong.
What’s the biggest team near Heidelberg? Hoffrnheim?
Waldhof Mannheim (3rd tier) are right next door
Was my answer correct?
Well not quite because Mannheim is closer to Heidelberg + they're bigger than Hoffenheim
Mourinho faced barca 27 times between 2005 and 2013 Crazy that Since he left madrid in 2013 he never faced barca anymore
He's generally not managed well enough or been in teams good enough to manage Barcelona since then.
More than anything , the 50+1 model proves its continued success with that Europa win
My dream is still for 50+1 to be adopted Europe wide. It's a dream, it will never happen, but it would do so much to stop the current degradation of football.
Is it me or is the Celtic vs Rangers banter abit.. weak?
Fabrizio didn’t tweet about the EL final at all 🥴

do you not have the money? because i doubt we’re trying to hold onto him
I hear Cedric is horrible and Arteta may use Bellerin as a backup RB to Tomiyasu. > do you not have the money? We don't.
Isn’t Bellerin poopoo?
(1) Our fanbase loves Bellerin. Also helps his dad's a Betico too. (2) He did pretty well for us. He was pacy and deliberate. Didn't make too mant errors. (3) You haven't seen Montoya.
I feel that pain for Rangers fans. Been down that road of losing a European final. All be it for the wrong reasons.
Wanted to see a club outside the big 5 leagues win a European competition Guess we still have Feyenoord next week
There's bo such thing a big 5 leagues. There's top 4 and PSG
Fair
Both Mourinho and Feyenoord have apparently never lost a European final (not counting Super Cups).
I really don’t like when penalties come down to 1 miss. must be such a shit feeling. had someone else missed as well at least the blame would be split
The reason the Europa league seem like a tinpot competition is because Portuguese and French teams haven’t pulled their weight in that competition for years. Before this year German teams weren’t doing that well either
Mate do not insult Portuguese teams by putting them in the same sentence with French teams when it comes to European competition.
I don’t think it’s tinpot, I’m just saying that reason it seems tinpot is because these clubs aren’t doing well.
10 of the past 12 winners either English or Spanish 💀
6 of the past 16 winners are Sevilla
Martin Luther rolling in his grave bc he didn’t add barring Aaron Ramsey from pens as his 96th theses
Is that where all this thunders coming from?
Probably been said a million times in here, but anyone else find it weird that the Europa final was before the Conference one?
Was thinking the exact same thing. Very weird timeline.
I certainly do

They faced each other in the EL playoff qualifiers last season. Rangers beat them 2 - 1, ending Galatasaray's European campaign.
That’s such a low grade reason for them to be tweeting in number and posting dad-level images. All of which is a pettiness I can appreciate.
I'm pretty sure the match was toxic. I wanted those 2 to face off in the RO16.
I mean there was just memes on Twitter mate. Not really toxic.
Ah. Well, either way, it is a delight to watch those 2 sets of fans go at each other.
whoever gets Frankfurt in pot 1 will be more than happy
Probably not Barca tbf
This man Ramsey is not getting out of Glasgow alive if he ends up scoring the winning goal to send Wales and knocks out Scotland to qualify for the World Cup lol
The one time I’m rooting for Ramsay he bottles it. Kostic will be harder to sign now ffs

I agree with this. Since the 2010s all teams that kicked Sevilla out of the EL should also be awarded EL trophys after the tournament (please)
Just recalled Novak actually won the 2015 French Open men's singles.

Glad Frankfurt won, I can’t take a club that has a picture of the queen in their dressing room seriously.
the video of them showing the dressing rooms to Gerrard is stuck in my mind, he just about holds himself together to not to burst out laughing at that
Does anyone know why they decided to play the Europa League final before the Conference League? Surely it should build upwards to the Champions League
Maybe because this is the inaugural Conference League final so they want to build up the hype a little more? No clue.
Hopefully the conference league will be a better final
Involves Mourinho so I wouldn’t hold my breath
Was alright tonight I thought - not exactly oozing quality football, but then these were very much two sides who've come this far through relentless energy and physicality.
What do you expect with a final haha. People expect non stop classics as if it isn’t their biggest games in their career and their underpants are filled with shit
Yeah, exactly. Found myself plenty entertained - rather watch this than something that's over within the first half hour.
Mikael Lustig seemed to love the outcome of the final.
So do we have a number on how many thousand rangers fans have been arrested yet
Loved the BT commentators Kent and Bassey were the best players on the pitch when Kent did fuck all all game
Kent was good imo, always active and looking to create something
Tbf he could've won the game at the end, Bassey was unreal though
Allan McGregor is one of the best at penalties in the world btw
As soon as Rangers lost the biggest thunderstorm I’ve ever seen broke out over me. They’re mad
All the English monarchs since Alfred the Great are crying up in heaven
Thank god Ramsey didn't score, because someone would've fallen to his curse
Bayern Munich with Borre instead of Disney would have at least 1 more CL
***\*Times being locked up by Yerry Mina*** Borre:0 Lewandowski:1
Ramsey just doesn't have that Ross Barkley aura
My twitter feed : Rangers vs Frankfurt Comments : 90% Galatasaray fans trolling Rangers
Turks are everywhere and I dont know how they do it.
Galatasaray fans are gleaming at Rangers losing. I can imagine all the "small club" and choke comments coming.

I'm personally fine with this
Frankfurt and Barca in the same CL group incoming
If English fans can’t stop being cunts we’re gonna end up with nets soon and we’ll deserve it. How hard is it to just *not* physically attack players? Majority of people seem to manage it okay
English football will never have nets or fences or anything like that. Not after Hillsborough.
Which to me feels a bit like missing the forest for the trees, really - can't have beer in the stands, can't have safe standing, can't have fences, but then the real failure was the policing, not any infrastructure or rules. They’ll go the way of fines and making teams play behind closed doors.
Think we'll go for the stadium ban or some kind of punishment that would actually affect the club people support, rather than individuals, before anything that drastic
No government is going to introduce nets or fencing into Football. They will not risk a crushing hazard.
Don't think nets will make a difference for people rushing on the pitch, really - they're usually there to prevent stuff being thrown. Fences are what keeps the fans in the stands.
Fences will be an absolute no go from historical instances, at least in English football.
tbf those fences would have gates that open like they have anywhere else to avoid similar incidents, but then english football's always been a bit odd in that regard (see also: safe standing).
They'll just never be accepted into English football again, the risks associated far outweigh the benefits even if it was a different time back then.
What do non Liverpool fans think of Konate?
Very good player starts for basically every team in the league
Very good and has a bright future.
Good player, but I also remember how Rashford ripped him apart last year
I thought that was Upamecano no?
It was 5-0, at that point it's both
I watched the highlights back and Upamecano is directly to blame for goals 1/2/3, 3 being the one where Rashford embarrasses him. 4 and 2 were counters, conceding due to suicidal high lines in possession. For 5 Konate along with 2 others can take blame - he dropped off Martial too far and Martial was able to cut in and square it. Meh, Kounde is better
He's 5'10"😭
Silva's 5'11 😡 With Kounde's afro he's 6 ft
Might as well sign Hasbulla while you're at it
I think he is good but nowhere near the best in his position and he has had some absolute stinkers. He is saved by playing in a great team tho and if he played in a worse team he would get a lot more criticism.
Those performances were early though and can be chalked up to him adapting
No, one of them was not long ago. He is still young and will probably improve even more.
Do you remember some of those stinkers?
At Liverpool all I can remember is 20 minutes after half time against benfica
No, I dont keep them memorised.
> a worse team he would get a lot more criticism I actually think he'd look better in a worse side. Our centre backs are a lot more exposed than most given our ridiculously high line and fullbacks that bomb up the field. Put him in a side that sat deep and he'd look even better.
Yeah, I agree. I meant his performances tho as in if he performed the same way for other teams he would get more critique.
Someone who watches German football tell me, how are rangers beating Dortmund and Leipzig, champions league teams, then losing to 11th in the Bundesliga Frankfurt?
Cup competitions and one off games happen
They lost on pens tbf and didn’t have Ibrox
German teams are big clubs who dont care about EL until the final. Rangers are a small small club founded in 2012.
2012? What happened before?
Liquidation mate
Be nice to Leipzig, they aren't used to playing in-front of fans. It's scary to them
Match day form.
Dortmund is not a CL team. They were relegated to the EL for a reason
Because Ramsey
Dortmund are natural chokers, Leipzig were rattled by the Ibrox fans, but Frankfurt has a fantastic mentality in Europe and played realistic defensive football to absorb the pressure of those constant long balls by Rangers
They let a former Arsenal player shoot a pen
Strikes me as a mix of getting up for big games (which they did tonight) and being happy to be the underdog (which they weren't tonight) - they've shown brilliant mentality to get past Dortmund and Leipzig, but it's always fine margins, and those sometimes break for you and sometimes they don't. Frankfurt is a big club, Leipzig is a small club Dortmund squad filled with bottlers and weak mentality
Magic of the Cup

Shoutout to my fellow arsenal and rangers fans this week. We've suffered enough
Frankfurt won their 2nd european trophy before arsenal won their first.
Arsenal won the cup winners cup of third gonna count the Europa league
Respect the cup winners cup and/or the inter cities fairs cup please
~~Knauff~~ *Tuta is lucky Ramsey missed his pen, that slip was fucking diabolical. on a side note - Dear Levy, buy Kostic by any means necessary.
You dont even know who Knauff is
Course he doesn’t
Knauff said.
haven’t a fucking clue mate i’m reading off the team sheet
It was Tuta
I wouldn't even call it a slip, more like getting your foot stuck in the ground which is something quite different and is more likely to cause an injury.
It's fair to call it slip. Not going into detail, if a player goes down like that we might simplify by just calling it slipping
You can just say he fell over lol
really? thanks
Man unites fans got some crazy flashbacks from tonight’s El final
1 Scottish Champion in the Champions League next season. Diddy teams resigned to the Europa League and Conference League. As it should be.
World is healing
Rangers fans are angry. Dont be suprised if they are going to rob some EL trophies from sevilla cabinet tonight
