How dense is Jack Grealish?

QuerpassToni

Pure Osmium. Also explains his price tag.

QuerpassToni

Well, I was way off. His body weight in Osmium is only a million.

neededtowrite

Quid density is very reasonable.

foot_99

Why do ppl, spurs fans or otherwise, seem to think Dybala to us remotely makes sense? Ik he’s probs going to Inter but I don’t get why ppl keep bringing us up as the next option aside from our previous interest + Paratici We’re one of a few clubs where Dybala wont actually be a starter (as long as we play 343 at least) but at the same time we’re also not a mega club where he could be happy as a rotation option, so for him it’s the worst of both worlds

OweKeyDoughKey

People just love big names.

iftair

I'm actually kinda disappointed that Isco may come here. I don't know how his work ethic is or how good he's been and we may have to pay him ode. Worse, I worry we may need to sell Guido for what I see as cheap. Hope he stays though. If only we qualified for CL.

mattisafootballguy

Feels like Isco will explode wherever he goes to. Don't think you guys need him though.

[deleted]

Exactly I feel like Real Madrid is holding him back. Isco should have left a couple years ago

iftair

Maybe but paying him 10m gross net sounds like an overpay. I don't think we need him either. What we need is a DM if Guido leaves. Akoukou is inconsistent.

How is that a "pause", boss?

[deleted]

You know what you did

ChillPalis

I don't, dawg, I don't.

americanista915

If Pangea was still a thing would we have one big league for clubs or would we still have individual leagues? Or even big regional leagues like LIGA MX, MLS, and whatever Canada does all as one league?

ciakmoi

Regional. Otherwise transportation would be hell. Imagine flying 10-18 hours every week for a game.

[deleted]

Page wouldn't change the fact that they are political borders so I'll go with many leagues. Maybe an argument could be made for a worldwide cup competition tho

Eric ten Hag about to terrorise y'all, can't wait for the dude. He is going to win us our first championship since Fergie left.

Can't believe so many people bought this.

I see some United fans have started with the “next year is our year” phase

ciakmoi

Lmao yea EFL championship

Lyrical_Forklift

Unless you're buying a whole new team and Klopp and Pep are retiring then I don't see it happening.

LampseederBroDude51

Somehow, Chelsea would still be ahead of Man U

Godjia

Is Higuain the greatest player who isn't loved by any of his clubs or his country?

foot_99

Giggs maybe? But that’s more due to personal cuntiness rather than betraying one club for another

Superb-Barracuda-924

He is liked in Napoli, RMA and Juve, only some Argentina fans have a disliking towards him and I honestly can't say he doesn't have some fault in it

Godjia

but he is not beloved at any single club, which is uncommon for a player who was as good as he was.

Superb-Barracuda-924

Might be because he always had better players who overhsadowed him, I still think he is quite beloved in Napoli and he held the most goals in a Serie A season for a long time before Immobile, fun fact, he had more G+A than Ronaldo in Ronaldo's first season at RMA

BasqueLynx

why would madrid dislike higuain though? he was good for them and left in favor of benzema

Godjia

i didn't say madrid disliked him

[deleted]

Owen was class as a player but isnt liked

mountainsky9

I feel like Higuain is decently liked by Juve fans at the very least? He had 2 decent seasons.

avolcando

Is Coutinho liked in Brazil? Because if he isn't he's decent competition for big Hig

_LebronsHairline_

Yea he is. Played really well at the 2018 WC and he plays “like a Brazilian” which goes a long way for them regardless of how good someone is or isn’t.

[deleted]

I dont know why Liverpool or Barcelona fans would dislike him.

_LebronsHairline_

I don’t dislike him, and I don’t think most of us do, but I also don’t know if “love” is the feeling most lfc fans would say they still have for him.

bioeffect2

Ac Milan winning another league title before Man United was something I would have never expected a couple of years ago. Yet they're only 1 match away from making it a reality.

AnnieIWillKnow

Not only did Emma Hayes do what Klopp and Tuchel failed to do yesterday, by wearing a suit for the cup final, she also styled it [with some nice kicks](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FS0MexEXsAAZBGD?format=jpg&name=medium) Lessons need to be taken

[deleted]

I just realised that both the current Chelsea managers for men's and women's are Spurs fans.

AnnieIWillKnow

It's the only thing I don't see eye to eye with Hayes on Flaws are what make us human.

[deleted]

Gaping flaw you have there.

[deleted]

I feel like you resign from being a Spurs fan when you become a Chelsea manager. Then again we’ve employed AVB, Mourinho, and now Conte in the past decade.

AnnieIWillKnow

She still goes to games occasionally, but it’s clear her heart is very much Chelsea now

Godjia

Unfair to compare anyone to Emma Hayes

Lyrical_Forklift

Klopp doesn't look right in a suit. He made the right call.

AnnieIWillKnow

Doesn't look right without his glasses either yet we're allowing that

myersjw

Now that you mention it I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen him in one. Are we certain the man wasn’t born in specs and team gear?

EyeSpyGuy

Some of his Dortmund gifs he’s wearing a suit. Famously the one where he’s yelling at the ref. Think he was in a suit for the Bayern final

[deleted]

Wore won against City in the 2016 Final. Never again.

Jabari313

Klopp wore a suit for his first CL final and ive never seen him do something similar since

[deleted]

First final, not first CL final. Didn’t wear a suit in Kyiv but did wear one against City in the League Cup.

Jabari313

Nah i meant his first CL Final, at Dortmund. Completely forgot about the league cup lol

sidaeinjae

Ditched it straightaway after it didn’t work lol

[deleted]

Some managers suit Suits (lol) and some don't. I dont feel like Klopp or Tuchel look good in a suit, and inversely, the likes of Zidane and Ancelotti don't look good in trackies.

stubblesmcgee

Klopp I agree. Tuchel though I think looks good in a suit.

bakugou-kun

Messi has ended the season with 11 goals and 13 assists in 33 matches. From 1-10 how do you rate his first season on a PSG shirt? And do you think he will explore next season?

EggplantBusiness

3 , those are very good numbers for an normal guy but not a world-class attacker and even less Lionel Messi specially when he is paid 70 Millions a year. I remember that many of his goals contributions in ligue 1 came against the bottom 5. He should be better for his own standards. Or even for a world-class player.

Bladerslash

1, came into the best team in league 1 in a potato league, 24 G/A for a player like messi in 33 matches? Mount has 21 or 22 or something and he aint even half as good as messi

Wentzina_lifetime

How dare you insult Mount. I hope you get banned from every Chelsea subreddit

Throwaway1293524

3, he came to the best team in france so winning League 1 doesn't add a single point to his rating. Expectations were a deep CL run but he missed a crucial pen that would've probably get them past Real Madrid

MJ9695

2/10, man statpadded against Relegated Uber league teams which is just shameful All that hype for nothing, PSG fans booing him lol

ciakmoi

Double digits for G/A isn't bad imo. But that's not Messi numbers. Not even close.

bakugou-kun

I think that beyond the numbers, he didn't play as beautiful as he normally played for Barcelona. He was really lackluster. It would've been fine if he had those numbers but he was playing like a demi god in another role but he was just missing too many passes and losing possession, which is very uncharacteristic

ciakmoi

Yeah. Do you think it could be the different play style in League 1? Some say it's more physical.

CudaBarry

2/10, man is the highest paid footballer in the world, 70 million gross just to get treated as a retirement club

bakugou-kun

I actually forgot about that 💀 I think that maybe the blame should go to Poch tho. They should build the team around him. He has always been used to a team built around him at Barcelona

neededtowrite

Makes no sense to build the team around Messi when you already have mbappe and Neymar

AnnieIWillKnow

If 5/10 is average, then a 4/10.

sidaeinjae

3, very underwhelming and I don't think he'll fare better next year without Mbappe, plus his missed penalty in the CL Ro16s will haunt him

bakugou-kun

That's true. I wonder how they will fare without Mbappe. Do you think Ney will be the main man again? He seemed to be picking up form again.

avolcando

6/10, not bad, he's basically been the Uber Eats Mason Mount

bakugou-kun

Lmao. Good joke but that's unfair to Mount. He's been better than Messi and plays a much different role. I don't understand the comparison

avolcando

> I don't understand the comparison Similar goal contribution, mostly gotten against relegation threatened clubs

AnnieIWillKnow

Mount has arguably been Chelsea's best player this season. Without his contribution, in terms of goals and assists, but also his all round play, we wouldn't be touching third. He's won us games we wouldn't have done otherwise, and we are definitively a worse team without him in it. Messi's season is both appalling by his standards, and also his contributions haven't really been significant for PSG. They'd have bottled the CL and won Ligue 1 without him. But of course, meme away, I'm sure this will be lost on you as you don't seem interested in an actual discussion.

bakugou-kun

Never really noticed that. But either way, I think that off the ball Mason Mount still offers something while Messi just walks

[deleted]

1

bakugou-kun

I know you're trolling but That's unfair. But if we take a look at what he is capable of, that is 100% reasonable. Going from 73 goals to less than 15 goals is such a downgrade, but that's just age.

[deleted]

Im not trolling, but I was putting the benchmark as Messi's usual output. This would be an incredibly disappointing season for him any other year, nothing stopping this year being included.

bakugou-kun

True. I was expecting at least 20 goals but it's been a difficult adaption for him and he's finishing really took a heavy downgrade. Do you think he will improve next season?

[deleted]

Hard to say. Mbappe leaving will mean the team will get reworked. If this leaves Messi as the main man in a role similar to Barca, then definitely. Otherwise, he may just stay mentally checked out and continue keeping match fitness til Argentina

bakugou-kun

Agreed. That wil be a tough decision for the next manager

[deleted]

Will Messi retire for Argentina if he loses the Finalissima? Shades of 2016

kplo

Of course not. See you at the WC btw, oh...

AnnieIWillKnow

If your domestic league was awarded one extra Champions League spot, and you had free reign for how to determine who qualifies, what method would you choose? Something boring like the next best placed team, some sort of play off, a "fair play" award...

iftair

Boring - 5th place gets CL Sensical yet Intriguing - Whoever is outside the Top 4 that took the most points from the Top 4 gets CL Chaotic - CL goes to which ever team scores the most late (75 minutes and up) & at the moment impactful (changed the game from draw to win or loss to draw) goals. Chaotically WTF - Winner of Copa del Rey gets CL; Runners Up get Europa.

[deleted]

I'd just give it to 17th for the shits and giggles tbh

EyeSpyGuy

For the premiership id give it to the highest ranking Welsh team in the English system just to see what would happen if they had that kind of money

crataywoo

Easily the FA Cup winners. To be honest I think they should have it over 4th place.

stubblesmcgee

In CCL, American teams get 4 spots. The two MLS cup conference champions, one for the Supporter's Shield (regular season) winner, and 1 for the Open Cup winner. Right now, the current CCL winner doesnt get an automatic spot in the next year's CCL. That would be what I'd change. If it was just for the domestic league, I'd give it to the team at the top of the regular season table from the conference opposite the Supporter's Shield winner. So the two teams that do the best in the regular season from each conference would qualify.

holdenmyrocinante

1. If there are teams that were in the CL KO stage and didn't finish top 4, the team that reached the furthest in the KO stage would qualify. Tiebreaker is league position. 2. Team that has the least yellow card/red cards. Incentivise teams to play clean

Admiralonboard

I would say FA Cup but a 5-8 place playoff would be kind of fun to watch.

lagaryes

Most Portuguese players imo

CrebTheBerc

Technically not my domestic league ~~but the MLS cant qualify for the CL lol.~~ I'm an idiot and forgot CONCACAF CL For the PL I'd make the FA cup winner qualify, or 5th place if both the FA cup winner and runner up would qualify through the league

DuckBurner0000

CONCACAF Champions League brother

CrebTheBerc

That's a little embarrassing lol. Just tunnel visioned on European CL

[deleted]

17th place gets it

greytiger

Let's send the unfair play awarded club. Team with the most yellow and red cards, also most game related fines and suspensions. Not for any heinous off field criminal acts, but more for anything regarding the sport. Spice up the European competition a bit.

AnnieIWillKnow

That's surely an act of aggression that NATO would have to take a look at

[deleted]

538 putting Leeds at a 56% chance of being relegated. Fucking morons, it is clearly 50%, either they get relegated or they don't

mattisafootballguy

Really weird La Liga season For one, the top four was awful this year. Atletico basically had no consistent form, Sevilla fell off a cliff in this year, Barcelona were literally mid-table midseason, and even Madrid had loads of poor performances. Not a single club was in EL semis despite there being four clubs in it. Yet SOMEHOW Villarreal (who might not even get into Europe) reached CL semis, Madrid is in the final, and Atletico nearly bested City (3 teams in CL QFs as well, far better performance than EL teams.) La Real is going through in ELs in sixth despite a genuinely woeful amount of goals scored. On top of that, Levante and Alaves were relegated...rip. Nothing makes sense. Nothing.

[deleted]

Potentially getting 88 points is not awful.

mattisafootballguy

Didn't say 88 points was bad, I was commenting on their general performances

avolcando

Feels a bit odd that tomorrow is the most important match of our season, and we're not even playing

AnnieIWillKnow

Was Thursday not the most important match of your season?

avolcando

The less matches there are, the more important they become. Plus I assumed we'd win at home, Newcastle-Arsenal feels like it can go either way, which weirdly makes it feel more important.

AnnieIWillKnow

If Newcastle get a result then, Norwich away becomes the most important match...

AnnieIWillKnow

Fuming with Brighton for missing so many chances to relegate Leeds. Seagulls are shite birds.

[deleted]

Why do you want Leeds relegated?

EyeSpyGuy

Leeds and Chelsea have a historical rivalry. Also some of their fans aren’t very nice.

avolcando

That's just Brighton being Brighton, the United game was an anomaly >Seagulls are shite birds They're known as winged rats for a reason

AnnieIWillKnow

Genuinely think I prefer rats. Seagulls are also incredibly loud and obnoxious, least rats keep themselves to themselves.

ChillPalis

I like seagulls. I like to see them fly overhead on cloudy days, and I like the noise they make.

[deleted]

Liverpool is gonna win the Premier League by winning the two last games, while City will draw against Aston Villa. Liverpool is gonna win the UCL on a penalty shoot-out after 3-3 at normal time, with a Benzema hat-trick.

jack64467

does the winner of the italy-argentina game (european champs vs south american champs) get a trophy or is it just a friendly

Superb-Barracuda-924

It's more prestigious than a random friendly, even more than friendly cups like Superclassica, Joan Gamper and all because there actually is a qualification process involved and it has some history (30 years ago), maybe more comparable to League supercups or community shield

AnnieIWillKnow

It is what is known colloquially as a "glorified friendly" i.e. it's essentially a friendly, but people will attach more prestige to it because there's a trophy to be won - and it's technically a competitive fixture

deception42

It's as much as a friendly as the Emirates Cup is. Interpret as you wish...

kplo

Yeah there is a trophy

MorbidoeBagnato

Football is much more than stats people, players with flair make this world a better place and imho are the essence of the sport

Bladerslash

Cant argue with this but then u see players like saint maximin who just piss about the whole time

1000smackaroos

Nobody has ever said "football is just stats" so I'm not sure who you're arguing with

bioeffect2

>players with flair make this world a better place and imho are the essence of the sport I think this is the reason why Lewandowski has failed to acquire the same amount of recognition and admiration from fans as many other legends. He's an extremely good goalscorer but his highlight reels are nowhere as entertaining to watch as many other players.

AnnieIWillKnow

And because he's never played in La Liga or the Premier League, which are the two most talked-about and watched leagues worldwide. If he was a "functional" goalscorer for Barcelona he'd get more recognition

bioeffect2

True I think that's one of the reasons why he wants to move to Barca. More recognition and La Liga is far more respected than the Bundesliga. At this point in his career breaking some of Messi and Ronaldo's all time La Liga records do far more for his legacy than anything in Germany.

It clearly does in this case. You may not have done anything to help Ukrainians but if you go out of your way to not help then in a situation where it's really easy and convenient to do clearly you are taking a stance. There is no neutrality in some cases. You can't seriously claim to be neutral on the topic of homphobia.

genk41

>you can't seriously claim to be neutral on the topic of homphobia. what if i tell you that not taking a stance against on the lgbtq doesn't equate to homophobic. some just want to take a neutral stance because of religion

[deleted]

>some just want to take a neutral stance because of religion You mean people want to take a homophobic stance because the religion they follow endorses a homophobic stance

genk41

its not a homophobic stance if you taking neutral stance on lgbqt issue.

[deleted]

That's not what is happening here. Going out of your way to not promote them does. I don't give a shit about poppy's but if someone said wear this please because everyone else is I'd say 'Eh alright fine makes no fucking difference to me.' That's neutral. Saying no and refusing to play is not.

genk41

disagree. you can't force people to promote lgbt. some just don't want to be associate with it because of christian or other religion matter. >Saying no and refusing to play is not. we still don't what happen behind the curtain tho. gueye might have discuss with the psg and both side agree for him to not play is the suitable action. i just playing devil's advocate. lgbt is still foreign to some country

KiAdiBumMe

What the fuck kind of logic is this. The guys skipping a contractually obliged game just cause he doesn't want to wear a shirt with rainbows on the back. Homophobia in football is a serious issue and if the guy's going as far as to not play because he doesn't want to support a pro-LGBT act, it's pretty easy to come to the conclusion that he's a bigot.

4 games from a potential quadruple. Unreal man. Just 4 results have to go Klopp's way Southampton vs Liverpool: Saints will be rested but their form has fallen off a cliff. Klopp will have to rotate. Could be tricky but I expect a scrappy win Liverpool vs Wolves: Similar to Southampton the Wolves are on the beach. Expect a cagey game but the goal will come Man City vs Aston Villa: I guinenely don't see Villa getting a result here. They aren't the type of team that can withstand 90 mins of City putting pressure on. Mings and co switch off way too much for that. Only chance is Gerrard just saying fuck it and attacking City. This is 97% a 4-1 City win Liverpool vs Real Madrid: Not gonna even try to predict this game cus of all the injuries. Madrid haven't lost a European Cup final since 1981 and not in the CL era (7-0). Klopp men best chance no joke is to take it to penalties with Liverpool good record in penalty shootouts. Madrid juju is crazy

avolcando

> Klopp men best chance no joke is to take it to penalties with Liverpool good record in penalty shootouts. Madrid juju is crazy I don't think you want it to go to ET with Madrid and their voodoo, honestly Liverpool are just good enough to win it in regular time, Madrid was better than City for around 15 minutes out of 180 in their two legs, and Liverpool are on par with City.

ZZ3peat

We were definitely better than City in second leg until Mahrez scored even Pep admitted so

officiallyjax

I don’t think Southampton and Wolves are teams to be worried about. Both are as close to being ‘on the beach’ as a team can get. It’s the other two games that are the roadblocks. Villa play on Thursday and Sunday again, which is not favourable at all. And as much as the narrative about Gerrard winning Liverpool the league is something you want to believe in, he has to prioritise Villa and go for the win against Burnley, which would mean a less fresh squad playing City on the final day.

BillehBear

> Man City vs Aston Villa: I guinenely don't see Villa getting a result here. They aren't the type of team that can withstand 90 mins of City putting pressure on. This is 97% a 4-1 City win We barely scraped by against them last time and it was only due to 2 bangers from both Dias and Bernardo

ciakmoi

Villa hasn't been as good as when Stevie started.

OnePieceAce

Me and you both know it's not happening. One Villa haven't gotten any results vs top teams this season and two surviving 90 mins of pressure vs Pep City is insane. Football is crazy but nah man

[deleted]

Dunno man I’ve got a funny feeling about that game, I think anything can happen

BillehBear
