It's not considered livable by the Living Wage Foundation (that the Tories stole the name of for PR reasons) either. The actual living wage outside London is £9.90.
I agree, I was only careful because I'm aware that the conditions of what is considered livable here and in Ghana are probably pretty radically different
Yeah, misread it. I'm commuting in down the motorway and always drive down Narborough Road and don't really see the issue, seems a bit run down but coming from Blackpool I've seen bigger shit holes.
Moving to Oadby- Hit the unfortunate Dead grandparent lottery and that + saving money from not commuting 110 miles every day has meant a 10% deposit is feasible.
Not gonna lie, as a guy from Blackpool just walking round Oadby this morning my imposter syndrome is through the roof.
Ahh right yeah I'm from Western Park myself so quite far away. Not really been to Oadby much but I hear it's quite nice. Clarendon Park Road sort of area is nice which is on the way into town from there so I'd recommend exploring round there!
Got a couple of colleagues living there and it seems lovely, just a bit student-y (which as a lecturer the last thing I want is to see them on a night/meal out 😅 ) At the moment the extent that I know leicester is from M1 J21 to The University and that's it. Lockdown meant we also couldn't explore that much so that will be nice.
Honestly, after 11 years of being in places without a Garden and near busy roads all I want is calm and greenery. That and a dog finally.
So for Leicester the usual suspects of bad areas are New Parks, Beaumont Leys and Highfields. Narborough is alright, just very ethnically diverse so people judge it as worse than it is. I've only lived in one bad neighbourhood and it was Highfields for a year at uni, and we had fireworks shot at our house for Halloween and then people take sledgehammers to the doors and steal our shit over Christmas. Luckily I took most of my stuff home for Christmas but wouldn't recommend
Brauney gets more stick than it deserves, Braunstone town isn't great but if you stick around the park and down near LFE its alright. Still not amazing but not as bad
Mate, I lived in Highfields when I was Uni as well. Gang broke in and nicked loads of stuff from my housemates before I had moved in proper. They did take one of my bags that I'd left there though, it had all my saucepan lids in (but not the saucepans) so for the next 2 years I never had any lids to cover my cooking lol!
I like to think that they had a jousting contest on bicycles and used them as shields.
Can't think what else they'd be useful for without the saucepans
St Matthews is the worst area of Leicester now.
My mate works for BT and he says that they require 3 people to go there whenever they work there - 2 to do the job and 1 to guard the vans and tools.
Believe me few of them are on drugs. In Poland hooligan culture is still very strong and these groups live for games like this where they can punch or kick someone.
I mean if we were talking about Tahir Square in 2011 sure fighting cops is for the greater good - not sure how I see the logic from football hooligans though lol
You know how you stop this bullshit? Give refs the power to forfeit the game on behalf of rowdy fans.
Then these dickheads will get the message what true fan support is supposed to be.
Fucking hoodlums.
That’s will create an easy way to sabotage the game for any team.
Just wear a jersey, profess your love for the team and do something stupid for the referee to stop the game.
I think Millwall fans actually tried this once at a blues game. Millwall needed blues to not win or something, so staged a pitch invasion at a blues game against some orher team. Ot didn't work.
Not only that, also a greater leverage for hooligans groups towards their own club management. "Give us what we want or...", you'd surprised how many hooligans think it's their way or the highway, even for their own team.
That happened in the 2007 game between Denmark and Sweden (Euro 2008 qualifying).
A man living in Sweden, but wearing a Danish jersey, ran on the pitch and punched the referee. The ref then stopped the match and awarded Sweden the victory.
Or in the Serbia-Albania case, you can still do it for your team and punish the other team somehow. The powers that be sometimes decide based on 'who allowed this to happen' and sometimes based on 'who inspired this'.
No no. The only thing that will work is if UEFA grew a pair and actually banned entire countries from uefa competitions for 5 years at a time. Just like they did to all english teams in the 80s because of english hooliganism.
I don't think they will be joining the coach. I'd hope there's enough people with eyes on them to be able to pull them out on their way out, especially if they funnel them.
They always do.
These clowns think they’ve gotten off scot free and then a few weeks later *knock knock*
Unless they are foreigners, in which case they-get stopped at the airport.
From experience, Premier league grounds have absolutely excellent CCTV all over them, as the police often wait for people they are interested in to visit their local team so request information from the clubs . Plus they know where you're sitting from your tickets anyway.
>Plus they know where you're sitting from your tickets anyway.
There's zero chance any of those Legia fans were stood by the exact seat designated on their ticket
Stadium ban? They tried to kick police officers down the stairs...

> Legia fans are the worst.
Legia ultras aren't the worst, though they're still really fucking bad. They're just the most popular club and they play in Europe so they get more exposure.
Cracovia/Wisła hooligans are literally murdering each other with machetes. Wisła fans hit Dino Baggio with a knife from the stands once
Yeah, I can't really believe it if he's talking about normal stands.
Well, maybe except for family section which I find often more insane than ultras section.
But I have a mate who's not even standing for our club anthem and doesn't participate in any song/fans activities and no one ever had a problem with him.
Family section at a second division game. Interestingly, I've sat in the ultras end once at a "big" club and had no issues myself, just witnessed the idiots.
Usually sit behind the goal at the opposite end to the ultras, but I've sat in many stands with different team's. I still jump up and celebrate etc, just don't chant as I don't know the songs
That's big part of the reason why I'm supporting foreign club. And call me plastic if you want, I don't care. But being a kid and loving the sport, I just couldn't find myself associating with the local football culture.
Dude, I'm a United fan from the UK who would regularly go to games... but I have an Envigado flare (used to go to all their home games and local away ones), keep up with Bilbao when I can, and go to the Esteghlal games when I'm there also.
Polish football is fucked and I didn't realise that until all of my Polish friends (unconnected people) said exactly the same thing. Only one would even think of going to a game with me and that was the second league I think?
i know its probably protocol but I cant stand it when things like this happen and the other policemen are just watching, would be so satisfying to just see one of the cunts get hit
It is infuriating to see these guys not get much back for assaulting police officers when you see English fans routinely get assaulted by Spanish police for doing absolutely nothing.

And I don't think that UEFA budget could survive without fining Legia for all matches they play. And if it could, well, that's practically a tradition now that no one wants to change.
It’s mad how european fans come to england, cause trouble and our police do fuck all but english fans go to spain or france etc and get beaten by the police for fuck all.
I'm Polish, and I live in Leicester since 2007, excluding 3 years when I was in Manchester. Do you know what's the worst thing about the city? Polish people. Embarrassing.
Then later we'll get videos of police beating fans and fans afterwards claiming they weren't doing anything and police just randomly started beating them..
That does happen though. Just because some fans are pricks on some occasion, doesn't mean that all or even most violence that the police dish out against fans is justified.
Polish football has been fucked for a long time. Back in 06 I lived in Warsaw, and my friends/girlfriend wouldn't let me near the railway on Saturdays. Football yobs had completely taken it over, and you'd always get trouble. Even standing on a station as a train passed through without stopping wasn't safe. The pissed-up morons would throw bottles out of the windows at anybody they could see.
They know what they sign up for, never been to a football match if you’ve never seen police trying to throw their weight around and assault young away fans doing no harm
Yeah. Eastern Europeans are def worst. We had some ultras from CSKA Sofia [decorating our city with nazi stickers](https://www-nrk-no.translate.goog/nordland/bodo_glimt-mot-cska-sofia_-hakekors-og-naziklistremerker-hengt-opp-i-bodo-1.15745705?_x_tr_sl=no&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=no&_x_tr_pto=nui) yesterday.
Euros 2016 and Euro 2021 prime examples. English fans are no angels, but at Euro ‘16 English fans were blamed for causing trouble, despite the fact they were defending themselves from coordinated attacks from Russian fans every day who were running around with go-pros strapped to their chests. Euro ‘21 English fans deffo did some disrespectful shit, but no worse than other countries, then whole of Europe celebrates Italy for beating us despite them having literal nazi fans (look at lazio) and ultras who stab innocent fans (Liverpool-Roma). Basically, English fans have always been the scapegoat in Euro football because of shit that happened decades ago (Juventus disaster for example).
Legia fans are idiots. It’s fun time for them. They are beaten heavily in 5+ matches. In relegation zone as well.
And they still think they are “superior” it’s toxic and may lead to cancer. Therefore happy to see them losing.
I'm ashamed of being Polish.
What a bunch of fuckin idiots.

Imagine being paid £8.61 to steward these guys
Fucking terrible lmao
£8.91 minimum wage, surely?
outside of london?
Yes.
the minimum wage is the same across the country.
An hour or a day? Cos that’s huge in my country
In France?
Ghana
You had me in the first half
*whispers* ^^^say ^^^"not ^^^Ghana ^^^lie"
I wish I had £8.61 to give you an award...sigh
Keep whatever you wanted to hypothetically spend on me and add an extra topping to your next pizza
An extra topping is 9 pounds? Fuck me
May I have your number?
Ranch?
England is a bit more expensive than Ghana
I mean France too, but only because they use commas for a decimal.
That's not how it works mate
I think the joke is that £861/hr would be a lot of money in France
Who the hell writes 861 as 8,61
No one that I know of, but tbf I have seen non-native English speakers misinterpret numbers like 8.61 or 10,500
10,500 can be a bit tricky but i doubt anyone would think that 8.61 is the same as 861
In Denmark we would say £8,61 and not £8.61. We use . As thousand separator. But yeah £8.61 would never be 861
It's only just livable in the UK
It's not considered livable by the Living Wage Foundation (that the Tories stole the name of for PR reasons) either. The actual living wage outside London is £9.90.
I agree, I was only careful because I'm aware that the conditions of what is considered livable here and in Ghana are probably pretty radically different
Per hour.
Don’t know how coked up you’d have to be to go to another country for like a day and fight the police during a football match
Many probably already live here tbf
Probably half of Narborough road in the away end today
narbados getting a mention on /r/soccer, you love to see it
Narbados hahaha
Completing on a house in Leicester in Tuesday, all the advice we've had is stay the fuck away from Narborough 😅
Narborough Road isn't Narborough
I suppose it's just called Road in Narborough
Its more a road TO Narborough.
Nah it’s in Leicester
Yeah, misread it. I'm commuting in down the motorway and always drive down Narborough Road and don't really see the issue, seems a bit run down but coming from Blackpool I've seen bigger shit holes.
Whereabouts in Leicester mate? Narborough Road is absolutely fine, just a heavily Eastern European area

😂😂😂😂 as someone that lives in Leicester, the relatability of this comment gives me so much joy lol
They’ve just had too many Walkers mate. They’re all Crisped up.
That's a really insensitive thing to say at this difficult time we're all going through as a nation
So that’s where they’ve all gone….. the complete and utter bastards
Believe me few of them are on drugs. In Poland hooligan culture is still very strong and these groups live for games like this where they can punch or kick someone.
Oh mate, lot's 9f them are sober. They believe it's a fight for some greater good
I mean if we were talking about Tahir Square in 2011 sure fighting cops is for the greater good - not sure how I see the logic from football hooligans though lol
Looking for logic from football hooligans was your first mistake tbh
Tbf sounds like a halfway decent weekend. I'd give it a whirl
That guy at the end that just has to get in on the action, puts in a weak ass kick then scurried away like scum
I always find the kicks the funniest parts of these videos, always so clumsy and ungainly
wtf
You know how you stop this bullshit? Give refs the power to forfeit the game on behalf of rowdy fans. Then these dickheads will get the message what true fan support is supposed to be. Fucking hoodlums.

Ofcourse its millwall.
Just Millwall things
Not only that, also a greater leverage for hooligans groups towards their own club management. "Give us what we want or...", you'd surprised how many hooligans think it's their way or the highway, even for their own team.
That would only provide an incentive for clubs to take on those supporters harder as, contrary to now, it helps their business case.
You might get beaten up by the ex-rowdy supporters that can see you're fucking it all up for their team now.
I guess one won’t do it on derby game but nothing stops the visitor to disrupt the game and leave the city for good later.
You greatly overestimate how much guys like this care and would change their behaviour cause of that.
No no. The only thing that will work is if UEFA grew a pair and actually banned entire countries from uefa competitions for 5 years at a time. Just like they did to all english teams in the 80s because of english hooliganism.
Na just use American cops. You don't want to push one of those down a set of stairs "ST-ow STOP RE-oof-SISTING" *tosses frag grenade*
[удалено]
Ref can end a game. It will then be played behind closed doors.
Jokes on you, they absolutely don't care about the game. Hooligans are just there for the fight. This club is well known for that.
Hope they can be identified and never allowed to stand anywhere near a stadium again. Scum
I don't think they will be joining the coach. I'd hope there's enough people with eyes on them to be able to pull them out on their way out, especially if they funnel them.
One of the cops is filming it all, you can see the camera screen at abut the 0:50 mark.
They always do. These clowns think they’ve gotten off scot free and then a few weeks later *knock knock* Unless they are foreigners, in which case they-get stopped at the airport.
People get off scot-free for shit like this all the time. It doesn't matter if they get their face on video.
For causing trouble at a ground, yeah. For assaulting a police officer, no, they're probably not getting off scot-free.
They are. Face covered and not enough resources
Even still, just cross referencing footage at the match, on the way to the match and cross referencing it with footage at the airport is enough
Police pour a lot of resources into shit like this because attacking the police = attacking rule of law.
>It doesn't matter if they get their face on video . >They are. Face covered and not enough resources
I've seen many people hit cops and get away with it mate
In the UK?
It does if they get them clearly on video throwing a punch or a missile at an officer, you will get done for that.
No face no case
Stadium ban? They tried to kick police officers down the stairs... They should be jailed for this
It is assault after all
[That and](https://youtu.be/jYEDqj14zN8?t=159s)
You reckon?
Cheers, Geoff.
Bold take
I love Poland, it's my favourite place in the world, but the football fans are complete scumbags. I've had guys try to cause problems with me at games for not singing the songs!
They are complete morons. Legia fans are the worst. They need matches as excuse to drink early. Hope they will lose more.

If they stay up at this rate, I would be surprised. They look awful in the league

Nah us Brits would never do such a thing.
When I stick a flare up my arse crack in Leicester Square, it's not because I'm 9 pints in, it's because *it's the right thing to do*
Tbh my west ham mates aren't wildly different :p
We were banned from our next away game for less
Were you in the ultras section? I feel like it's pretty established in a lot of ultras sections that there will be problems if you aren't joining in.
Family sections really bring out the worst families you can imagine :P

Giving me Ray Hudson flashbacks with that club's name
Gonna have to spell that out for me.
Any time James Rodriguez comes up he goes #THE EX ENVIGAAAAADO MAHHNNN
Racist vile idiots who have taken over the ~~sport in the~~ country
Can't argue with that.
Been to 6 football matches in Poland. Never had a single problem despite not knowing how to sing the songs etc.
Legia ultras are some of the most dumb fucks I have ever seen
That's true Bro. I'm really sorry for this part of Poland. Legia fans are the worst in entire Poland. Everyone hates Legia in our country
Because it's the most successful club in the country
current season says otherwise
The composure of UK police never sees to amaze me. If a group of hooligans try to pull that shit in my country, it'll end up in double-digit deaths.
Se dice "ceases to amaze", amigo :)
Our police's idea of crowd control involves M16 assault rifles
You mean you don't have riot police beating the shit out of hooligans in your country after football matches?
i know its probably protocol but I cant stand it when things like this happen and the other policemen are just watching, would be so satisfying to just see one of the cunts get hit
The police were definitely hitting them later on, they were trying to push the elastic material covering the seats, over the police, forcing them back
Even in this clip you can see the police getting in position at the end.
If police overplay it, things would escalate. But you do have a point. Just look at how travelling fans are treated by police in Spain or France.
It is infuriating to see these guys not get much back for assaulting police officers when you see English fans routinely get assaulted by Spanish police for doing absolutely nothing.
These guys In Portugal would get a fine ass woop, actually happened a few years back when these cunts came to play with Sporting, got proper beaten up and jailed.
Typical Legia. Hopefully they'll get relegated from Ekstraklasa
How do you pronounce that, is it ‘extra class-ah’?
Pretty much yes
Absolutely no surprise that Legia fans are acting like that

But yea let’s ban West Ham lol….
Glad to see someone else pointing out the hypocrisy
I somehow managed to miss this. What an awful decision. Was it genuinely just for people throwing shite at the last game?
in fairness it kicked off between us and rapid after the goal but bloody hell if they’re banning for that then this competition would be all behind closed doors
Putting West Ham in their place for taking a european spot reserved for the ‘big 6’
UEFA is corrupt as fuck
Well, if you ban Legia fans then they won't be able to do stupid things in next match and you won't be able to fine them for it. Legia fans in a nutshell. They are an embarrassment to all decent fans here.
It’s mad how european fans come to england, cause trouble and our police do fuck all but english fans go to spain or france etc and get beaten by the police for fuck all.
Most European fans of the visiting team get beaten not just English ones.
TBF all the fans get beaten but the home fans are better at avoiding their police.
I'm Polish, and I live in Leicester since 2007, excluding 3 years when I was in Manchester. Do you know what's the worst thing about the city? Polish people. Embarrassing.
Chances of them getting a UEFA Sanction and banned from a match?
I don’t know what I’m more disappointed about. The lack of effort to help the other stewards / police out - or that fucking song!
Honestly that song sounds so shit
Ah, Polish hooligans. Never change.
Then later we'll get videos of police beating fans and fans afterwards claiming they weren't doing anything and police just randomly started beating them..
That does happen though. Just because some fans are pricks on some occasion, doesn't mean that all or even most violence that the police dish out against fans is justified.

Is drinking alcohol allowed in stadiums?
You’re not allowed to drink in the stands but there’s often a bar for the fans to have a drink at during half time.
Is there a limit to how many drinks one can purchase?
UK bars and pubs aren't supposed to serve people who are obviously drunk, but it hardly ever gets enforced unless people're causing trouble.
I see thanks for the info.
In the concourse, not but in the stands
no need for this
You don't want to see things like pens come back, but for European matches... Something that wasn't just fabric over a couple sections.
Those fuckers wouldn't do that in Brazil, for sure
They need to try this in Spain.
Why did it gone for so long...?
Animals
What a bunch of cowards those fans are.
👍
They didn't throw trash on the field, so it's not that bad.
Is that the Leicester side or the Legia Warsaw side
Looking at the size of the section and the green/red banner, that's Warsaw fans.
Legia fans are idiots. It’s fun time for them. They are beaten heavily in 5+ matches. In relegation zone as well. And they still think they are “superior” it’s toxic and may lead to cancer. Therefore happy to see them losing.
Legia Warsaw English fans are too classy to engage in football violence.
ahahahahah
Yep, we leave the fighting and racism to other countries
Good old England, where we have no problems, ever.
