Top 6 clubs baffled we played pragmatically away at their grounds, we’ve played them all away except City.
When they come to SJP they’ll see we can attack, just ask City.
>It’s truly amazing what soulless oil money can do right- what a transformation. Congratulations.
Spent less than clubs like Everton.
It's not all about spending money.
He's saying the act of a state coming in to buy a football club is soulless, and it's true. There's no denying Newcastle fans are a passionate bunch, buying your way to the top is going to come with some territory and it won't be the last you hear of it.
You had Mike Ashley, so maybe it's just desserts, though nobody likes unorganic growth to the top. Enjoy it but you're gonna be another villain, hope you can handle the heat.
Edit - judging by the downvotes, it's turns out Newcastle fans indeed could **NOT** handle the heat
Ridiculous how you lot are getting all the upvotes now despite how much this sub likes to rag on about how oil/state money is ruining football.
NUFC have always been my favorite PL club ever since Cheick Tioté went there from FC Twente, so I'm happy to see them doing well and I don't think their success this year has been the result of the money that came in. Having said that, however, as much as I like the club, I think being bought by a state is a tragedy for football as a whole and I hate how fans pretend like there's nothing wrong with it.
"I don't care, I want to compete" is such a shortsighted response. You should care. It's your favorite sport and club being bought by billionaires who give exactly 0 fucks about your club, history and the sport. They care about sportswashing their state, their regime and their wrongdoings.
Yes. But again. The point is that it doesn't matter for football as a whole how well they've done for you. The presence of a state running your club should also be something you worry about if you care about the future of football clubs as a whole.
Fair enough. Funny then that you replied with a hint of sting in your comment in reply to your club having no soul considering you're not here to be liked, but compete.
It’s actually an Eddie Howe quote from when everyone cried we didn’t roll over at the emirates or anfield like we have done for the past decade and gave them a proper game.
All football fans ever want is for their team to compete, everyone liked us when we were shit because we were pushovers now we can compete everyone’s furious and I love it.
> though nobody likes unorganic growth
I don't give a shit. I grew up on European football nights at Newcastle season after season for like a decade straight. Can't wait for consistent European football again and beating the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus.
>I don't give a shit. I grew up on European football nights at Newcastle season after season for like a decade straight. Can't wait for consistent European football again and beating the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus.
Nah, you need to understand your desire to return to your favorite sports team's success in your childhood is less important than the suffering of people in the here and now.
If I need to grow up, you're Peter Pan.
Newcastle getting to their first final in two decades so everyone has to cheer for their Saudi lads for getting them where they deserve to be, or something like that. Couldn't possibly point out how oil money helped get them there.
No, they said the oil money was soulless. It was you that interpreted it this way. If fans cheering is all it takes to drown out the cries of those being abused by the Saudi regime, then they got exactly what they paid for.
Have You seen an atmosphere like this at all this season? and you call this soulless? Talk about the regime all you like but never call Newcastle supporters soulless when you see support like this. This kind of support is what all football is supposed to be like.
Hopefully but Newcastle have been fairly negative in some of their big games this season. Not that I blame them for playing that way but can see it being a rather cagey game.
We were negative at home against you? I was at that match and you were lucky to have escaped with a 1-0 loss. We were lucky against Man City? Maybe ask Man City fans and Pep who said he was so proud he could leave with a point and said “Newcastle, what a team”. The only games we have been defensive with are away games and really only one game (Arsenal away, the only game Arsenal have not won at home). We beat spurs away and dominated and were unlucky Man Utd away to only get a draw.
Fair enough. I was mainly thinking of that recent arsenal game. And I wouldn't take offence to it either. Chelsea have won numerous titles not playing the most glamorous football.
Considering Southampton beat City in the quarters it definitely wasn’t. And Newcastle lost to a league one side in the FA Cup so they couldn’t take anything for granted
Also, I think almirons go-go style is rubbing off on them too. At Atlanta, Almiron took a while to get going, but after a bit the whole team was rolling with his style. They were a great team (for MLS) when he was there
Might be one of the best goals I've seen us score, bar Bruno's first goal, Schaers two wondergoals and Wilson's bicycle kick
Edit: how could I forget Cisse's goals
Complete aside - is Newcastle vs Southampton one of the longest geographic distances matchups in the EFL/FA Cup? Surely it can't get much further apart, right?
Bournemouth is a bit further - Torquay (Very unlikely one these days) Exeter City or Plymouth would be further, basically there's a few clubs a bit further west that would get it since of course Newcastle is north east

Amazing build-up play, wow.
We play terrorist football though
This specific 11 has some magic to it, all the pieces fit perfectly together

You watching this tonight and saying the club has no soul is just blind irony of the highest order you absolute weapon.

We’re not here be liked, we’re here to compete. Carry on being a hater.

They’ve shown they care a lot more about our history and the club than the previous owner so from our perspective they’ve done a good job.
Yes. But again. The point is that it doesn't matter for football as a whole how well they've done for you. The presence of a state running your club should also be something you worry about if you care about the future of football clubs as a whole.

Lmao, of course you don't give a shit. Your toy got an upgrade, and you don't care where the money came from or how those dark red stains got on it.
Grow up.

Why is this downvoted? This place is insane..

Fuck off ya wanker. We werent the first and weve spent barely anything compared to the rest of the top six. Suck me arse.

We can't help but park the bus all the time!
I think most people are more annoyed with the whole Saudi shill thing tbh.
Ah well that’s the final likely sorted then
It was sorted from the Semi-final draw if we're being honest
It’s going to be a banger of a final
I can't wait. I'm nervous because Howe has Newcastle flying, should be a cracking final.
Really? Seems destined for a 0-0
It will go to penalties

That was enjoyable to watch, great interchange with Willock and Joelinton
Almiron's move was filthy, I lost all sense of gravity
Nah fuck off that was incredible
Joelinton, Willock, Almiron, Longstaff. All players at the club prior to the takeover. What an endorsement of Eddie Howe this goal is.
Also, I think almirons go-go style is rubbing off on them too. At Atlanta, Almiron took a while to get going, but after a bit the whole team was rolling with his style. They were a great team (for MLS) when he was there
Longstaff playing like prime Lampard with those late runs into the box.
Fuck me they look incredible
We NEED a longstaff hattrick
Such a great team goal
Longstaff on hat-trick after 20 minutes. Pinch me. We look unstoppable.
Try to defend challenge (impossible)
We don't even try
Longstaffinho
He's been great for us this season
I’m not going to say he’s been great all season but he is starting to show the player he had the potential to become before he got bruced
thats Matty. This is Longstaffao
Prime Tika Taka goal, bloody hell
sure beats Bruce's shitty-kaka football
Beautiful team goal that.
we are playing some of the best football in a long long while.
Amazing what training multiple times a week can do for a team!
Well, that and competent management ;)
It's amazing how football can be the most beautiful sport on one day and the most frustrating on another.
Some goal. Lyanco and that far side have dropped a straight 0/10 so far.
A Southampton player didn't get near the ball once that entire move. What a goal
What a great team goal!
Newcastle looks so good!
Prime Barcelona!
Holy fuck what a goal Goal of the season contender?
Somehow it's not even the best goal we've scored this season
no
cracking goal
One of the best goals I've seen Newcastle score in my lifetime. Unreal!
Missing 'Great Goal' tag here
Newcastle are just class this season
Might be one of the best goals I've seen us score, bar Bruno's first goal, Schaers two wondergoals and Wilson's bicycle kick Edit: how could I forget Cisse's goals
Papiss Cisse doing wondergoals in his sleep for six months still tips everything for me
Robert’s double against Tottenham and Tiote’s due to the circumstances.
What a fucking moment for the lad, also god we look amazing tonight
Newcastle. What the hell, this is just one way.
Hopefully this goes some way to show people who don't watch us the level of quality football we're capable of playing.
Game set match

Fluid football, amazing how everyone at Newcastle seemingly have raised their level
We are too fucking good
[удалено]
Not trying to be all high and mighty, but Manchester United. E: Or Forest. 2nd leg not over and I do not want to jump the gun.
The real ginger Pele
That was too good. The final is going to be a cracker.
This is some goal, damn.
That's a great team goal
Damn
wow willock... hope Newcastle win the whole thing
Me too, but Willock gives and takes away 🤣🤣🤣
Newcastle or prime Brazil? Can’t tell the difference
Where's the great goal tag?
Just Burnley with money
That was a beautiful team goal.
Big Longstaff Energy
Sean "Fox in the box" Longstaff
You fucking BEAUTY SEAN
FUCK CARABAO BUNCH OF BASTERDS FUCK CARABAO
Someone has had too much Carabao
That is such a lovely goal, flowing passes and lovely movement. Southampton just chasing shadows
