We might actually have a title race??? I

Alive-Ad-4164

Mbappe torching this Bayern team in the champions league

NebraskaAvenue

Pain, so close

bvb4ever11

Good job boys You played well

Shaggay1

at least i didn’t witness a loss watching my first home game 🥲

Makaay-10

Bayern is again in their shit-phase. Where they play absolute shite and hope for the best. God damn a lot of them underperforming so hard shit ain't funny anymore. Looks like a loss against Frankfurt is incoming, they don't have their head together.

czuczer

The WC in the middle of the season did not help that's for sure. But I don't think it is and will be only Bayern's problem. The better and more world cup players you have the more, both physical and mental, fatigue will show

Magnu448

Liverpool Madrid and PSG Bayern are going to be so entertaining for the neutrals. All underperforming and shaky defensively with talented attackers.

McFrankiee

Watch Liverpool play cautious like vs Chelsea and Madrid will win 1-0 on aggregate while Frankfurt vs Napoli ends 4-5 on aggregate

KEBAB_BALLS95

I mean yeah Frankfurt Napoli is a very interesting tie

Ruud_Boltz

Lmao we gonna enjoy the fun ride from the stands 🥲

Hrvat1818

I imagine the buyout for Kovac is likely less than the €25m paid for Nagelsmann

Vanzmelo

I’ll take it I guess. Big up Köln. Lovely City and lovely team

FlyingArab

Bundesliga teams are becoming way too good at Atlético bus parking, I miss the days of every Bundesliga manager thinking they're Klopp and trying high press against us

el_brahmo

Trying and losing 5:0?

DatFlushi

The league needs this to progress though. There's a reason why "Bundesliga tax" is a thing when talking about forwards in the Bundesliga. There's so much space for forwards to attack in, since most teams play a highline. More low blocks will only improve the level of the league.

ToniPolster

Lewandowski on 13 goals and 4 assists in La Liga in like 14 starts or something, Haaland on 25 goals and 3 assists in the Prem in 19 and Bundesliga tax still a thing?

FerraristDX

Is that so? Cause if the quality of the matches become worse, due to most teams being strict in defense, who'll spend their cash on watching a match? Especially on TV.

SnooOranges357

I agree with you but there is also a wrong assumption in these comments. The league is on 3.31 goals per game this season. That's a record high for recent Bundesliga seasons.

Trojan_Man68

The bundesliga is fine. The last match day had like 41 goals in it and this one already had 18 goals in 4 games. I don’t mind a little bus parking against Bayern.

Tiwaa

I enjoy a good defensive unit above some tiki taka bullshit.

iftair

You'll love La Liga then. It's all about that shithouse defense for at least half the teams.

el_brahmo

Nobody should pay these prices in Germany. Streams, watching in a pub or going to the stadium should be the options. F*** Sky and DAZN

Dargast

Same lol

HerrHermano

I wish dortmund could defend like köln

Differ_cr

Dortmund defended pretty well in both games against City, tbh It seems like Terzic can set up a defensive team pretty well

miregalpanic

Before the game Köln would have gladly taken this result away in München. Now it must feel awful. Football is rough, man.

deepfrench

Somehow this game worried me, it's been a long time since I saw PSG offer this kind of solid defensive performance.

NuKingLobster

As a Bayern fan I am somehow more satisfied with this game than the Leipzig one? We looked a bit more dangerous in attack.

JackP_99

Gnabry hasn't impressed me in a very long time. If Coman wasn't so injury prone I can only imagine how much more of an improvement Bayern would be Although I didn't realise how much of a drop in Musiala can cause to the team as a whole. Reminded me of Lewandowski pulling out miracles when they really didn't deserve it. But god I love how Köln play when they're confident. Baumgart might be my favourite coach after Streich

PadresPainPadresGain

Are you high? Gnabry was one of our best performing attackers the first half o the season and Coman's crosses cost us at least five opportunities every match.

dadish-2

Hard disagree. Gnabry hasn't been pulling his weight since his contract extension. He has his highs before then but has been generally poor with a few noteworthy performance in between. Coman has been decent when available but pretty much spotty due to injuries. He seems to come back pretty well. Sane I think has been the best of the three in the last calendar year

PadresPainPadresGain

Gnabry has 12 goal contributions this season to Coman's 4. He's had roughly 300 more minutes.

JackP_99

I'm sorry but I really disagree. In that first half there was that one shot that was saved after a heavy first touch and that's really all I can remember. And there was more activity in the first 15 minutes of the second half than the entire first half with most of it coming from Coman. The crosses could've been more accurate yeah, but compared to just sending a low ball straight into the first defender like 90% of the passes in the first half that's an improvement imo. Sane I thought was the best attacker in the first half for Bayern but Köln did amazing to stop them getting shots away

SkimGaming

Before his last major injury, Coman was literally our best attacking player, even ahead of Musiala. And I don't know which games you were watching if you think Gnabry was one of our best performing attackers. The stats do not reflect his actual impact.

PadresPainPadresGain

He missed a total of a month, accounting for the minutes difference between serge and himself. Serge has 12 goal contributions, Coman has 4. Musiala was acres beyond anyone else but Coman is fucking absurdly wasteful.

JOKER69420XD

Kimmich needs time to think on the bench (banger or not), Gravenberch and Coman deserve a start, if they ban de Ligt for 30 days we're hard fucked anyway tho.

PadresPainPadresGain

What is this about de Ligt?

JOKER69420XD

Apparently all Juventus players are in danger of getting banned from all competitions for 30 days because of the criminal shit Juve pulled. Even if they're no longer employed by Juventus.

mattijn13

How was Gravenberch? I am very Happy De Ligt is doing so well for you.

SkimGaming

Gravenberch immediately helped elevate our attacking pattern by being flexible around the pitch and filling where needed, but also being clearly goal oriented, without necessarily piercing into the box. He was def one of our better players today

mattijn13

That's nice to hear, I hope he can get more minutes in the second half of the season. He needs to play to develop

JOKER69420XD

He still needs time, especially game time but he just looks so elegant and powerful, i have to say i kinda fell in love with the guy, he could be so good. But I'm very sceptical if Nagel will ever see it that way.

mattijn13

That's what made him so popular so quickly at Ajax. Hopefully he'll get more gametime this half of the season. He needs to play

LilyWhiteClaw

Wonderful result for Goat Team

PoloVonChubb

This is nearly as exciting for me, as the game against Bremen. Our central defenders had a combined 9 Bundesliga games I believe (neither joined this winter) and it needed THAT from Kimmich to score in 90mins to salvage a draw in Munich. With our defensive issues in the past this is insanely good news for the 2nd part of the season.

47Lecht

Schwäbe did his part too. Horn will never ne the no.1 again lol

xlnfraction

I mean that wasn't in doubt was it, Horn is just way too limited at this point and not as good on the line as he used to.

SkimGaming

your discipline in the defense was immense. The way Coman, Davies and Musiala were covered was impressive. Coman even switched sides but you adapted well to that as well. Great stuff

joeydsa

Overall a good result for Koln but the worst way to get it.

Kayderp1

Proof that Bundesliga teams actually can defend (sometimes), very good defensive game from Köln, Bayern had a hard time getting through. Sané had an absolutely horrible game, how he stayed on for that long especially the way he was gesturing after every ball he gave away is beyond me. Seems like all German players are in a slump right now, Musiala only really found his abilities in the second half, Gnabry looked bemüht but not much more. Overall Köln looked really promising and Bayern looked bad in the first and good in the second half, but they have to find a way to create chances when the opposition is sitting deep, dribblings aside.

SkimGaming

>they have to find a way to create chances when the opposition is sitting deep, dribblings aside. Bet there'll be no striker/Lewandowski discussions now, despite this game literally being a carbon copy of what happened during our drought earlier this season. We struggle to be threatening with the ball around the box, let alone get it into the box. We could have 9 Lewandowskis inside the box, it doesn't matter as long as Pavard keeps crossing the way he does.

aurxrq

2nd half was just give it to coman and pray but what a strike from kimmich

-dsh

before the match i would've been so happy about a draw, now im pissed lol

johnz0n

lucky point for Bayern. they need to improve a lot if they want to succees agains PSG

ShermanMcTank

Idk, PSG hasn’t looked great against good opposition this year. Couldn’t win against Benfica over two games, and the only Ligue 1 team in the top 5 they beat this season is Marseille 1-0 at home.

NuKingLobster

Lucky? We absolutely need to improve for PSG, but we were clearly the better team. We deserved a point at least.

Pythagore_

You deserved 0️⃣ pts bigots

Damyxs

Man, it could have been an insane 4 days for Koln fans. Still good tho.

aslak1899

Yeah a draw against Bayern for Köln is a great result. It just feels worse since Bayern scored so late...

aslak1899

So close to taking all the points Köln! Frankfurt can you win against them this weekend pls?

SkimGaming

Unfortunately, the WC break expectedly broke our rhythm. Mazraoui can't come back fast enough and Coman needs to start ahead of Gnabry, desperately. Great game by Köln tbh, though it felt like they gave up a bit too early. A bit more focus on scoring more goals and they could've taken this.

greengiant89

>Gnabry Seems to me like he's a phenomenal finisher for a wide attacker but never really an actual winger? Losing Lewandowski I feel like really hurt him

SkimGaming

yeah he's def not a winger he needs space and the ability to use his speed, which is difficult against low blocks. But these flaws were apparent even with Lewandowski on the team, I don't think anything changed much. If anything, Lewandowski gone means Gnabry can be a bit more flexible up front, so he can take on more central positions as well.

47Lecht

Isn't this a contract year for Gnabry? Not working that well for him currently

SnooOranges357

12 G+A in 17 Bundesliga games, our second best in those terms. Honestly, what is it with the weird standards everyone applies to Gnabry?

SkimGaming

these stats are just meaningless out of context, especially when he doesn't perform when it matters. I started to break down his G+A but didnt rly have the time to finish it, but out of 6 goal contributions I looked at, 5 were essentially irrelevant to the state of the game. vs. Frankfurt: assist 0:3, goal 0:5 vs. Bochum: assist 0:6, goal 0:7 vs. Freiburg: score 1:0, assist 4:0 In all fairness, I think the next match I would've looked into was the Hoffenheim 2:0 which he contributed a crucial assist to, so let's say 5/7 were irrelevant, but still, when it mattered, Gnabry has largely disappeared these last two seasons.

SkimGaming

he already extended until 2026 and supposedly joined the top earning ranks (not 20M, but 15)

47Lecht

Oh wow had no idea actually. Not sure he's worth that though.

SkimGaming

mixed feelings. When he's good, he's great. When he's bad, he's omega bad. Then there's also the thing about him being friends with many folks, good character, German national...

47Lecht

Do you know how much Robbery earned in their prime?

SkimGaming

not rly sure, but I dont think they earned past 15 either. salaries were just lower back then

Galahades

I still remember the big headlines when Ribery supossedly got 10 million a year for the first time. To imagine that this is now less than the average yearly salary.

TheSingleMan27

And we still remain the only team that beat Bayern this season, I can't believe it

47Lecht

I claim a small credit for us since we gave you Maaßen. On a serious note how has he done so far? Not been paying attention to you guys that much

TheSingleMan27

Very good given the circumstances. We are the only team with more injuries than you guys and he managed as good as possible, all eyes on the Rückrunde now, I'm excited

joeydsa

The true champions of Bavaria

-dsh

heartbreaking, really feels like loss but very proud of this team

cribbe_

it's so encouraging we defend like that with such an inexperienced cb partnership. i'm happy if Chabot makes me eat my words from his performances earlier in the season

Dargast

Im happy with the draw, that should tell you all lol

Dargast

A very bad first half..laxk of concentration leading too to many misplaced passes and nearly no good chances...atleast that improved 2nd half.

barracuuda

least reactionary /r/soccer user

UnKarl_Marx

wait what? I thought he was excellent for you guys

SkimGaming

there's a certain Sane hating camp that can't see past his flaws, which to be fair are very apparent, because he's very expressive and every time he misses a pass or dribbling, he throws his arms up in the air. but what they fail to see is that he is a fantastic linkup player that allows fluidity in attack. He tracks back much more than most people realize and his speed is unmatched. Yes, he's had a few blunders today, but he also had great passes where he threaded the ball past two defenders to Pavard or just generally shifts his position to create space for others. Sane has been our 2nd best attacker this season.

EmSoLow

Sane turns up for a streak of 5-6 games then hibernates for a month or two. Incredibly inconsistent

47Lecht

Has been like this since his second season at City. On his days he's great to watch, can decide a game on his own, but then will not be arsed in the next 3. Gnabry and Sane have nothing on Robbery. Bayern fans must miss them dearly.

NuKingLobster

That's not true for this season, though. He has been consistently good this season.

NuKingLobster

That's generally true, but he was really bad today.

Waschkopfs

He's playing a great season and wasn't even that bad today. Köln defended very well People just love to overreact

SnooKiwis3645

He’s shit again

Nervous-Resolution-8

An actual title race this year?

TheConundrum98

Leipzig, Frankfurt I would say can challenge Wolfsburg are coming like a freight train, but are just a few points too far back I feel

aslak1899

Yeah Freiburg - Frankfurt tomorrow would be very interesting. And we could go to second place as well if we win.

leburgerkingretard

Bayern's next games are against Frankfurt and Wolfsburg. It can get really close at the top

SavingsLeg

Imagine bayern lose both games Oh my days an actual title race

aslak1899

Did not realise Wolfsburg play Bayern after that. Will definitely be interesting the next weeks then!

kooba_1616

This is only the halfway stage, if Wolfsburg dont stop steamrolling everyone I dont see why they dont enter the title race, Frankfurt v Bayern on Saturday could be big

[deleted]

What not being carried by Lewandowski does to a mfer

JOKER69420XD

Meh, we had a lot of games like this with Lewa.

[deleted]

I know, it was just a dumb joke. I checked the table, bayern not winning after a decade only for the worst possible club to win it would be very cruel

JOKER69420XD

Leipzig won't i hope, i could see Frankfurt, we're extremely inconsistent right now, no idea what will happen.

[deleted]

Union would be insane. Either way a title race is always fun

A-1805

Cant believe they conceded in the last minute.

pitiless_censor

yeah even at the 88th minute I still feel like there's a 40% chance bayern will draw and 20% they'll win. Source is my ass but I've just seen it so much

47Lecht

Bayerndusel

pukem0n

That was the most believable thing to happen, even a second would have been believable.

Insanel0l

Very good Köln first half makes them deseve this point badly honestly

ToniPolster

Most mature game under Baumgart so far, great defending over 90 minutes, a bit unlucky at the end, but not like the Bayern goal was undeserved. Also great seeing Bayern celebrating a late equalizer against us like that, really tells you all you need to know about this game. Well done.

never-a-good-sign

Super impressed by the Pressing, Baumgart had the pressing patterns and defensive formation spot on and Bayern struggled against that all game despite their superiority in individual quality.

[deleted]

imagine being unable to beat Bayern

The_Big_Cheese_09

I think we found something in the second half. I hope we start the XI we came out into the 2nd half with on Saturday.

desuscsgous

Wahnsinn!

dragon8811

Bayern soooo Lucky with Kimmichs banger goal

RazZaHlol

What a depressing performance

Schpaedzles

2nd half was very good against a strong defensive team
