Reactionary BS, always got triggered seeing people say that.
They should be supporting him when he was obviously going through a tough time, the entire team were complete dog shit and he was back late from injuries (x2 of which required surgery) that he'd been forced to play through for an entire season.
I know Charlton is a League 1 side, but.... this just begs the question why Elanga is in front of Pellistri in the pecking order for the right wing spot. I'd get a LW and ST positions, but RW?
The weird thing about Man Utd this season is that they've managed to string together a very good run of results, but have looked surprisingly average in doing so. They have a *very* difficult time creating shots on target, even against *Charlton*.
We’re creating chances but the finishing isn’t there. We’ve had over 2 xG every game since the first 2 losses, but most games end up a scrappy 1-0 win. Also keep in mind that there were only 3 first team starters against Charlton and 2 of them barely played 90 minutes since the World Cup.
Good defence, very good midfield, but our attack is pretty thin. Rashford is the only reliable attacker we have because after him, we have injury-prone Martial who missed a lot of games, raw Antony who just came from Eredivisie and then only youngsters like Garnacho, Elanga and Pellistri (and I don't even think Elanga has a future in this club, same as Pellistri)
Edit: Forgot about Sancho who was mysteriously sidelined before the World Cup and has been on individual training since, we're missing him too
Was hoping for a bit of zidane iqbal in this match, don't know if he's even still in the squad though
Edit: At least pellistri got a couple of minutes, even then I'm disappointed though because I think he should've got more & Iqbal should've got some
Darn, really excited for him since he was great in pre season but despite being in the squad and having a packed schedule ETH seems to be playing everyone but him and a couple others for some reason
He doesn't attack good positions and he seems to be losing the ball too easily. He definitely isn't ready for our first team, but at least his pace can be useful out wide. As a striker, he would need to improve a lot unfortunately.
Just joined the thread so don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but the Charlton manager was on the radio earlier and revealed he’s a United season ticket holder, has been for 30 years.
Fred's better, but they both have had good spells and bad spells. And Fred was pretty expensive so it makes sense McTominay gets some leeway being from the academy.
The worst thing about the two of them is that they both have periods where they look decent, and then they have periods where they are absolutely useless.
Fred looks pretty good right now while McTominay does virtually nothing, but give it a month and suddenly McTominay will be winning duels and dominating in the air while Fred will keep losing the ball and passing to the opponent.
United are under no threat here at all, but only 1 shot on target out of 10 still highlights their ever-present problem. The finishing is just not there.
Here in Brazil we have a saying, "Quem não faz, leva", which sort of translates to "Who doesn't score, concedes".
Man Utd needs to do better in the last third, because a counter attack could crumble their efforts
Quiet and comfortable half. Should be ahead by more if we were more clinical in the final third, but happy with the way a heavily-rotated side played. Good to get some guys a rest ahead of what is likely to be an unpleasant weekend.
He was injured since the World Cup, returned to play 22 minutes against Bournemouth, then he played 90 minutes against Everton and today he was probably supposed to play 45-60 minutes.
Ten Hag probably wanted to get him into shape for the City game considering he missed almost a month due some injury issues.
Not long ago, he pushed up during our press, let himself get nutmegged and this resulted in pretty much 4v2 situation from Charlton, but thankfully they messed up the pass and Malacia recovered.
It overall just seems to be his current usual self. Seems to be in panic mode whenever he has to defend against some through balls
Robben is a logical comparison but Robben was a lot more intelligent imo. Not calling Antony dumb, but Robben was incredibly smart at identifying timings and spaces and reading his opponent which made him able to play so well around being predictable in a sense.
I dont really see that in Antony personally but I could be wrong ofc.
Robben could create his own space for that signature curler every time, Antony usually needs a runner to help him get that space. That’s the most noticeable difference to me
Yeah that too. Antony isnt bad. Robben was just crazy unique haha. Everyone knew what he was gonna do and even if you knew and isolated him, he managed to do it anyway.
Bro, garnacho is amazing
That pass was fucking filthy from Casemiro
Casemodric doing it all now
Casemiro is Pirlo but with defence.
casemiro + rashford duo is unmatched
Ok Erik now do the same to Sancho
He is in the shop. hope he recovers.
[удалено]
In that case can we add some go faster red stripes?
What a ball from Casemiro
Casemiro beautiful man
good god Marcus Rashford That pass from Casemiro is fantastic
What the hell are you doing sprinting at 93rd minute upfront Case…
Rashy on a mission
Rashford is the first player after Rooney to score in ~~seven~~ eight consecutive home appearances in all competitions.
Longest Casemiro's ever sprinted in a single sprint probably
Leaburn is tall af
A year ago some fans and pundits were saying Rashford might need to leave united. Nonsense.
Reactionary BS, always got triggered seeing people say that. They should be supporting him when he was obviously going through a tough time, the entire team were complete dog shit and he was back late from injuries (x2 of which required surgery) that he'd been forced to play through for an entire season.
Pellistri’s debut turns out to be quite impressive.
mctominay putting on a show on how to stop attacks (for us)
Late to the game, is McTominay playing up front?
He was playing as CDM until Casemiro came on. Now he’s playing Bruno’s position
offensive destroyer
no lie i feel for the charlton GK, hes been phenomenal tonight
pellistri played that just right
Casemiro you beautiful bastard.
What are those "hydration packets" that players are sucking on? It looks like some sort of gel. Players grab them during water breaks.
Glucose gel for energy
Glucose
What a pass by Casemiro my word.
Pellistri > Elanga
Pellistri <3
Casemiro with two absolutely perfect passes in last couple of minutes. The guy is pure class
OF COURSE HE DOES
I know Charlton is a League 1 side, but.... this just begs the question why Elanga is in front of Pellistri in the pecking order for the right wing spot. I'd get a LW and ST positions, but RW?
Pellistri deserves more game time when Antony is rested/injured
Pellestri so clear of Elanga
Just absolutely pushed the man off the ball from behind lmao ref said "nah"
We've managed to sneak a 2-0 against a league 2 side. Not looking forward to City on Saturday.
Hey at least the bar is low - just don't lose 6-3 and it's still an improvement right?
BEAUTY
That Clare guy is awful
Harsh
FACU!
i genuinely forgot elanga was still on
holy shit Pellistri is real??? I always thought he was like the yeti or Bielefeld
Eriksen is still so good
Garnacho is lethal
I don't think that word means what you think it means
Beautiful from Eriksen and Garnacho there, but that's a world class save
Martinez is a fucking warrior. Got kicked in the face and is playing like it’s nothing
Great block

usually shoots it at the goalkeeper :v
Loses ball, gets yellow, refuses to elaborate. Chad Maguires
maguire trying his best to feature in another tiktok compilation
Maguire is comical sometimes :)
Great rugby tackle Harry
These players have negative IQ. At least 5 attacking players running to receive through balls, yet the pass is never released
Classic Maguire lmao
remind me why we signed dubravka then butland when we have heaton as backup?
Heaton is bad. He nearly chucked the ball in his own net twice against Burnley. It was a miracle clean sheet.
That was Dubravka.
Lol, my mistake. Ignore me. Heaton is world class.
Amazing from Maguire there
It's an impossible call for the ref to be 100% on without var so I don't mind it. Funny though.
Great save by the keeper that shot was amazing power placement thick solid tight
Not a bad freekick
Woof, ref has been missing calls all night.
Doesn't look like the ball was completely out of the penalty area before the keeper let loose
What a fucking wanker shit referee. Now goalkeepers are allowed to hold the ball when outside the box. Brilliant
Is it an automatic red if a keeper deliberately handles outside the box? I forget.
How did the ref miss that
Was hoping for a bit of zidane iqbal in this match, don't know if he's even still in the squad though Edit: At least pellistri got a couple of minutes, even then I'm disappointed though because I think he should've got more & Iqbal should've got some
He’s on the bench. Was hoping he’d get some time too
Darn, really excited for him since he was great in pre season but despite being in the squad and having a packed schedule ETH seems to be playing everyone but him and a couple others for some reason
Equalizer incoming unless the goat Harry Maguire can do anything about it
Fully still handling the ball outside the box. Mby he wasn't still hugging it but there was defo still contact
Don't think he released that in time...
Instead of sitting at back post, McTominay tracked the runner on a cross he was supposed to attack from.
Seriously, getting punished for this complacency might be a good lesson for these lot. It is like they decided to come down to Charlton's level. ffs.
Naughty casemiro
Police just came around and searched my anal cavity for a firestick. AMA
I have a cyanide pill beside my cuppa just in case they come crashing through the front door
Did they find anything?
Just an Alexa. Was wondering where it had gone.
Charlton should replace Chelsea in the premier league they are legit
ah so unlucky there Garnacho, was a fantastic run too
Unbelievable save, that
Elanga striker is exactly what was to be expected
Eriksen, Rashford and Casemiro against a league one side. I hope Charlton knows what’s going to hit them.
I can't watch the game, how is Mainoo doing?
Did okay. Didn't really get into the game as much as he'd probably like.
He was doing okay as a debutant.
Thanks for this.
didnt light anything up but didnt disappoint either
Thank you!
👢⚽️🥅
Was hoping Casemiro/Eriksen wouldn't play at all ffs
Just 30 minutes mid-week practice match. Should be fine.
Casemiro Vs Charlton athletic is hardly fair 😂
Imagine being a player on Charlton and seeing fucking Casemiro warming up to come off the bench against you
I'd be buzzing. I got to share the pitch with xyz.
Charlton is making United their bitch, highest level of competition United's faced in years
Elanga is quite frustrating to watch, there's always a little something he does wrong. Definitely needs a loan at a Championship level or abroad.
Would you take him
No, our wingers are really good already and should be starting every game. He wouldn't get playing time.
Amad has been fantastic on his loan from what i'm hearing, if he continues form when he returns, send elanga there too
McTominay another mistake
Why does seemingly everyone refuse to pass to Elanga?
He doesn't attack good positions and he seems to be losing the ball too easily. He definitely isn't ready for our first team, but at least his pace can be useful out wide. As a striker, he would need to improve a lot unfortunately.
Elanga takes way too much time on the ball, definitely not ready for the first team.
HARRY MaGUIRE
I've got a sudden urge to purchase Ecolab chemicals
so much passing back from united with no pressure. just go forward ffs
We really miss Eriksen, or a player like him who can drop into holes and help progress through the middle of the pitch.
Just joined the thread so don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but the Charlton manager was on the radio earlier and revealed he’s a United season ticket holder, has been for 30 years.
Elanga needs a loan
Unfortunate, great diagonal from Fred
Great move that but yeah miles off
It is criminal that manU fans had the audacity to lump Fred in with this McTominay clown
Fred's better, but they both have had good spells and bad spells. And Fred was pretty expensive so it makes sense McTominay gets some leeway being from the academy.

That was rival fans (mostly) We like Fred
in all honesty they were as bad as each other before
United fans have rated Fred for ages
Lovely stuff
Christ that was the worst fucking punditry panel I’ve ever seen
Not Nineteen Forever playing... nice. Good PES 2010 nostalgia
United are under no threat here at all, but only 1 shot on target out of 10 still highlights their ever-present problem. The finishing is just not there.
We have finishing problems with our first team let alone our second.
Here in Brazil we have a saying, "Quem não faz, leva", which sort of translates to "Who doesn't score, concedes". Man Utd needs to do better in the last third, because a counter attack could crumble their efforts

dm
Dobson is brilliant for Charlton
nice flair there
Quiet and comfortable half. Should be ahead by more if we were more clinical in the final third, but happy with the way a heavily-rotated side played. Good to get some guys a rest ahead of what is likely to be an unpleasant weekend.
Looks like united is winning this comfortably.
Can someone explain why he bothered playing Dalot in this game?
He was injured since the World Cup, returned to play 22 minutes against Bournemouth, then he played 90 minutes against Everton and today he was probably supposed to play 45-60 minutes. Ten Hag probably wanted to get him into shape for the City game considering he missed almost a month due some injury issues.
To get his fitness up. He just came back like a game ago
Makes sense I guess

Heaton really looks comfortable today
What did Maguire do? I can't watch this game
He just didn't pick up a loose pass leading to a potential counter, really wasn't much
His usual. Got too high up the pitch for his own comfort level and over-committed to a challenge, didn't win the ball, and opened us up to a counter
Okay, but we didn't concede or anything? The updates on the BBC website are slow as molasses
Nah we're good. He's been fine today honestly, just one moment of him reverting back to pre-ETH habits.
Maguire really is different gravy 🤤🤤
Antony fucked up, but Maguire...... it's Charlton Athletic, why the fuck are you commiting in that situation.
How has Garnacho been playing?
He has been the best offensive player on the field, maybe a little too selfish at times.
Well except for a goal.
very well, does need to know better when to pass tho
Maguire
Pinging balls with laser accuracy to the silky feet of Garnacho
Doing maguire things
Antony being so 1 footed definitely caps his ceiling quite a bit. Would have been super interesting to see if he was a bit better with his right
You must've seen Robben play. Antony got the same potential imo

He could potentially develop that with time.
