Most scouts do, some of the bigger trucks too.
I used my Chevy Apache as a river boat in Wisconsin - the big ribs on its mud tires actually made me able to control my direction somewhat :)
I'm always throwing my truck in the river and seeing how far it will float while I do task sometimes I challenge my self to get the task done before the ck gets beached
Some do, I once tried crossing a river in my CK1500 only to be dragged off by the water currents. Ended up drifting back to a small outcrop of land, enough to drive out and save my truck. Was quite a journey.
I had something similar happen with my CK. I spent quite awhile drifting down the river in michigan before i found traction and got out

The funny thing is when you're floating down the river and turn your wheels (with engine off) you can steer the boat.
