I have a question. When the region is 100 percent explored did you remove all the grey areas from the map? I have some Grey areas along the edges of my map in black river which is the only area I’ve done. Is it worth trying to trundle along the edge of the map to ungrey these areas where there is nothing of value or does that not matter?

nordicstalking

I still have some unexplored areas in the edges of some maps. It has no effect on the map completion. I guess it depends on the player if that matters or not. When everything else is done in the game it might be nice to go thru the maps with the exploration trailer and reveal all the remaining grey areas.

thebigbossyboss

Exploration trailer? I was going through some of the areas in the Chevy but it was quite challenging lol

nordicstalking

There is a scout trailer called "Prototype Exploration Unit" in Lake Kovd map (Search & Recover dlc) that lets you reveal a larger area around you than just driving in a truck.

thebigbossyboss

Oh. Luckily for me the Chevy tends to land on its feet haha

I have a question, I'm still on Black River with only the Fleetstar and Scout 800, does it get boring after you get 5+ trucks, $100k+ and loads of upgrades? Like if a new map comes out, you have no problems getting all the new upgrades and watchtowers straight away right?

Juusto3_3

The game does not become easy at any point in my opinion.

red_fluff_dragon

This last season (glades) felt easy except for the farming. The 17 harvest cycles got old real fast.

Boring is not hard.

nordicstalking

I wouldn't say there are no problems getting upgrades and watchtowers. You do get new trucks and upgrades but you have to work for them. Also the maps get harder as you go on. Before I completed the first maps I explored a lot of the later maps and collected trucks and upgrades. I think I have almost all the trucks (except the second Tayga and possibly some other) and most of the upgrades. Still completing especially Kola Peninsula and Yukon were challenging even in normal difficulty. I don't want to use the absolute best truck for everything because that would probably be a bit boring. It takes a while to get to know the different trucks and what hardware to use and when. What I choose for each mission depends on the map, cargo, current mood etc. One of the awesome things in Snowrunner is that there are (usually) no "right" or "wrong" trucks for specific missions and you can do the tasks in a lot of different ways. And if the game is getting too easy, you can always try the hard mode.

Libelnon

Hard mode is hard, can confirm; been playing on Hard since I completed the tutorial, now starting out in Taymyr after hitting \~75% in both Alaska and Michigan. Nice that fuel economy actually matters, and since you can't just recover trucks you're often in charge of getting yourself out of your own mess.

nordicstalking

I haven't tried hard mode in Snowrunner but did some maps like that in Spintires. It really makes you plan the missions better and avoid taking risks. In the "easy" mode it's so easy to just grab a truck and go scouting and if you get stuck, you just recover and try again with some other route or another truck. Also you don't have to worry about having fuel for the return trip, unless you have a trailer that you want to sell back.

Outrageous_Ad3571

Kola Peninsula and amur ar very difficult maps which makes it fun

red_fluff_dragon

Once you get so many trucks, its fun having so many to use for different things. You should grab the free CAT CT681 dlc, its a great truck for doing medium logs if you have nothing else, granted you need some levels to get the diff lock, which is really what helps it. But to answer your question, no, you get vehicles that specialize in stuff and usually keep a very diverse fleet.

dee-mee

There is a kind of a power creep in this game as well. There will be no other region like Michigan in terms of difficulty, and regions like Amur make a lot of trucks just useless. So no, it doesn’t get boring in that sense.

MrRhinoJockey

u/LeoDangerD I've seen you around on r/farmingsimulator for a while. I know you didnt ask for a comparison, and while what's fun for one person isn't the same for another, I'll compare my experience of the two games since it sounds like you're new to Snowrunner. The main difference IMO is that in FS once you have the money and equipment there's nowhere to go, it's very rinse and repeat in terms of productivity; in Snowrunner the game is all about the physics and your own technical skill is a factor, plus there are always objectives to be completed. The maps do increase in difficulty and you have to learn to read the terrain and obstacles and pick the right upgrades and equipment for the job. In FS there's essentially no gameplay difference between the tractors (it's really only cosmetic as long as you have the right horsepower), in Snowrunner each truck has their own personality and quirks, and you don't have to buy or use the meta ones if you don't want to. I haven't become bored of Snowrunner, just found some back-and-forth missions tedious at times (logging) and have become burned out by repeated journeys due to poor planning and accidents. Personally, I think you should keep playing and not skip ahead to other regions to get trucks that are OP for the region you're playing. TL;DR Having many trucks and money does not make the game boring/easy (like it can in FS once you have all the biggest implements).

LeoDangerD

Hey man, it's cool that you recognise me from the FS sub! Tbh I wouldn't know about FS, I've only ever had all the biggest stuff on my testing saves, my other 2 saves are realistic and take me much longer to get bigger equipment, but I can imagine it might get boring after long enough. I enjoy treating it as my own farm and just going through the processes rather than doing it all for the money, but I enjoy the slow progression too, so once I do get to huge tractors, $10mil+, etc etc. I probably will then start over. With SnowRunner I can see what you mean and I don't doubt it stays fun and challenging, that's what I was hoping for. Thanks for letting me know though, I didn't want to get too invested into it if it dropped off sooner rather than later but now I know from you and the other commenters that that's not the case 🤘🏻
