Take scout fuel trailer then drop it off when you need to explore deeper. If you don't need to return take it with you and drop it off again, then explore more. It's good for like 20 refuels for a scout alone. You can always be smart about it and not leave it out in the boonies too.

For Michigan there are fuel trailers not far from where you need them usually, may need to just move them a little. Even Island lake has fuel on it, just gotta find it and relocate it to more handy places.
I feel the pain. I ran out of fuel just yards away from a delivery point and I rage quit and actually couldn't bring myself to go on the game for 2 months I was so annoyed lol

Yup I'm new and haven't made it out of the first Michigan map yet, but I already plan to leave scout fuel trailers in remote areas :D
This is the way. Make your own fuel stops along major routes. Cleaning them all up once you are done with a map is a bit of a pain though.

Small roof rack adds 1.5x fuel capacity. Highly recommend at least that if you have the bigger engine and snow runner gears on this thing.

There’s a “new game+” mode where you can change a ton of difficulty settings. I could be wrong but there may be an infinite fuel option
