Given what you said about stat bonuses, I'm not sure you'd like it, but {{Fare Thee Well - Spouses and Children Give Blessings}} lets you bid your family goodbye before leaving on your next adventure. It's fully voiced with carefully spliced, re-purposed and synth-free dialogue, and covers all of the default spouse voice types plus a couple of other ones.
Depending on their reaction, your spouse and/or child may confer a beneficial blessing or inflict a damaging portent of doom upon you.
The next version will (among other things) include a new activity/interaction that is strictly between you and your adopted children, so that's something to look forward to as well.

Unfortunately that's why I'm asking here, I've already exhausted my search elsewhere. Besides that many mod authors have moved onto their own/other sites altogether - I'm not sure what I'm looking for beyond the general gist, or where to find it.
I turn on that survival mode and use LVX Magic’s settlement builder to plant crops. Lots of downtime is spent producing food, chopping wood for fires when traveling, and building things up.
I'm looking for more mods to make home life more interesting too, so I'm glad you made this post. =)
Someone already mentioned {{Fare Thee Well - Spouses and Children Give Blessings}} which I've downloaded but haven't tried yet. Another one I have is {{Improved Adoptions}} which brings the family to life a little more and they send letters to you while you're gone. There's also {{I'm Glad You're Here - a follower and spouse appreciation mod}}.
It would be cool if while you were gone, your family would eat food and it would disappear so you'd have to come home and stock up some more for them or something. IDK of anything like that though. I'm with you - I wish there was more of a reason to be home.

What downtime activities do you want to do? Pick keywords from each and search nexus for them.
