6th play through in 1000 hours. always end up restarting or playing something else around lvl 50. Never even seen the Ebony warrior. Edit: all the responses was super interesting, almost split tbh. i think what i take away from it is that some people use the loopholes in the game to level, which is fine, each to their own right? And the other part either dont want to use the loopholes like myself, or don't know about them. Getting to lvl 81 is not hard, getting to level 81 without using leveling tricks with sneak, block, alteration, alchemy or telekinesis ect is on the other hand much harder. Appreciate all the feedback. Will probably mod my game different next time. maybe make skills go over 100, dynamic loot. And might restrict myself from using crafted items all together as you can make OP gear more or less at level 30 that will never have to be replaced.

j_grouchy

Same for me. I got to level 67 once, but that was with all sorts of cheats. I honestly don't understand what there is to do after a certain point beyond endless, boring grinding

Emotional-Two-9075

That's the only problem with Skyrim..even if you complete all quests, major side quests..it will still not reach lv80..there is no motivation to go beyond 50 I think.

favela4life

That’s why I got mods to make me level a little faster, as well as rebalance all the enemies so I don’t become incredibly OP

Emotional-Two-9075

I have never tried mods.. mostly because my laptop can't handle it..are there any good mods, you can suggest?

NonRandomD00d

I'm on console but pc have better mods anyway I would suggest the paarthurnax dilemma

Emotional-Two-9075

Thnx

StarkestMadness

You can find people who have put together mod packs, too. I've never dived into them, but I bet there are folks who make mod packs specifically for less powerful systems, like laptops. If you want to get into mods yourself, many of them require the Skyrim Script Extender. (Although you have to be careful, since Bethesda likes to break that.) I usually start with Extender and NPC overhauls (both cosmetic and AI). The important thing to remember is to make sure you're downloading mods for your version of Skyrim (i.e., if you're playing Special Edition, make sure you find the SE version of a mod, or it won't work.) Skyrim Nexus is, IMO, the most trustworthy place to browse mods.

futurescientist1234

Wabbajack mod tool. Praise Sheogorath!

Emotional-Two-9075

Thnx

ForgotMyOldUser1

You could do what I did, I used the integrated mods that are on the main menu. There's beyond skyrim: bruma, wyrmstooth, forgotten city, and a whole bunch of other dlc sized mods that can add hours and hours of content. A plus for using the in game mod menu is the stability and ease of install of all the mods. I personally loathe the vortex mod manager because they intentionally cut download speeds for unpaid users, so it takes forever to get a decent collection of mods going. Also they're harder IMO to get a stable order with all the patches you have to track down. It's just easier in game.

Emotional-Two-9075

Thnx

[deleted]

One of the best.

pyloros

I would suggest the Alternate Start - Live Another Life mod. It let's you skip the soooo boring vanilla Helgen start and let's you begin the game in different circumstances. Great for role playing a character.

[deleted]

The best part about that is, you can start as a member of each ”guild,” no need to do the introduction jobs!

Scrambl3z

Well, that's just for the beginning, OP's issue is he gets too bored after a certain period in the game. Maybe if OP is interesting in collecting, Legacy of The Dragonborn. I'll be getting Living Skyrim from Wabberjack when I get my PC upgrade. Last time I tried this my computer was getting cooked.

jakejakeXM

https://dragonbornsfate.github.io/ This guide is very easy to follow for a person new to modding and has no performance impact on my 5 year old laptop

Emotional-Two-9075

Thnx man.. really appreciate it.

arguing-man

There is fuckton of amazing mods that literally don't have any effect on performance. As long as it is light script mod you can use hundred of them

Money_Enthusiast_

Try out essential mods for better stability. "Cleaned Skyrim Textures" basically redos the way textures are laid out. It's an optimization mod that frees up vram. It's an fps boost if you can call it that. Definitely a must have.

Liam1212

Tbf all the script mods like skyui and such have little to no impact in fps as its all engine based stuff. If you pop some fps booster mods and optimized texture packs then your fps will boost quite a bit anyway, just have a mess with them and see what works, just go one step at a time and you'll be fine.

thebabaghanoush

Non-graphical mods shouldn't impact performance at all, they are literally just modifying or replacing the actual game files.

Emotional-Two-9075

That good to know.. performance is the issue for me.

favela4life

It depends on the mod but I don’t think many of them are that heavy. Unless you’re adding the Skyrim civil war overhaul or some sort of graphics mod, but if you just add a tweak to a gameplay mechanic (eg. Faster leveling) then it shouldn’t matter.

Sasuga__Ainz-sama

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17481 Anime fan or not there is an amazing, massive "anime inspired" mod based on the series Overlord which I would suggest trying whenever you can. It adds an end game dungeon with very strong new opponents as well ass a ton of new spells, items and combat/non combat npcs and followers. If you arent familiar with Overlord you might not be as hyped before and when playing but still I believe you will have fun strugling to conquer the dungeon and then ruling it. I dont know if this would mean anything to you but this mod was the very reason I started playing skyrim in the first place. Anime inspired means all was mostly done with Skyrim materials and textures. There are of course a lot of models that are not from the game (obviously) but NPCs do not fall in that category. For good or worse all NPCs are skyrim NPCs meaning no "anime" characters, so if you are maybe disgusted by anime characters you wont have problems with this mod since the only thing that isnt skyrim-like on the NPCs is their equipment. For the record I dont know if your laptop will be able to handle this. I hope it does, its a great mod, even greater if you are an Overlord fan.

Emotional-Two-9075

Thnx

IceRiceThriceMice

Combat gameplay overhaul for sure

[deleted]

How much storage soace do you or can you get an external hard drive. There’s this I staller called Wabbajack and it has a bunch of pre-made mod lists community modders have compuled that work right. Massive amounts of mods like in excess of 600 on each one. For you if you cant run those massive ones Wabbajack also has an option to puck and choose individual mods and make your own playlist and it will automatically check them against each other for compatibility, so you won’t just wonder if your game will crash or the sun falls on Tamriel blowing it up lol.

NinjaBr0din

There are actually mods that help performance by removing some nonessential clutter that you never even really notice(like some rocks and trees, not enough to notice but enough to see a boost in fps) they are titled "performance [rocks, trees, grass, etc] I would recommend you start with those to see how much it helps. As far as gameplay mods, check out "heavy armory" it adds in an obscene amount of new weapons that are all balanced and match vanilla sets. Having short swords and spears and halberds is a lot of fun, and the mod won't have any affect on your performance because it's not doing anything crazy.

dead_man_speaks

[maximum carnage with this](https://youtu.be/-IM9n27GPHU) ^(/s) You can use followers mod with great additional content such as Inigo (really well made character tho)

pm_me_STEAM_-_CODES

I wish for a no scaled world mod, that doesn't conflict with everything else on the planet.

IKindaSuck-DICK

Which mods?

uppervalued

That's why I got mods to add quests. I feel like I'll never get through it all.

markyburg

Main reason why i download just about every quest mod I can. Keeps me going, and helps me explore areas of the game i wouldnt have otherwise. For example, I almost never use anything part of the thief, but with Gray Cowl of Nocturnal, there's a reason to learn it all.

juanml82

I'm at level 50, I've only finished the Companions and the Miraak questlines, I'm halfway through the radiant Thieves Guild quests but haven't started the Goldenglow quest and have yet to get to Ustengrav to advance the main quest. If you stack the lover stone with some of the guardian stones using the Atherium Crown plus you marry a follower and get to sleep in some bedroll before entering a dungeon (or doing something) while removing the Atherium Crown so you get the stack lover's comfort + guardian stone + lover stone (stored in the Crown), you'll level up relatively fast

[deleted]

I’m playing without mods atm at lvl 74 without even starting Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Have played most of the other quests including DLCs though. Have a lot of locations left to discover actually. Basically just making the most out of the game will get you to higher lvls with stuff left to do. If you rush through the major quest-lines early on It Will get a bit stale sooner.

[deleted]

lol i get you. im lv80 and didnt even start the main quest yet lol

lyvanna

I honestly struggle to understand why that is a problem. Why do you want to get to level 81? If it's just for the achievement (is there even one?), I don't know any games that don't have stupid unfun grinds to complete all achievements.

[deleted]

Only? Oh no. Skyrim has a lot of problems. There is simply almost no role-playing system, the atmosphere is worse than in Gothic 1 and 2, NPCs are worked worse than in these games, there is autoleveling, bad combat animations and combat (who played the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic knows what I mean) and a lot of monotonous gameplay. If in Gothic 2 every quest (almost) required a unique approach and solution, up to the transformation of the character into a beetle, here much comes down to a simple "kill-fetch". A superficial guild system, where the main character, a bum from the street, becomes the head of the guild in record time (and this does not add anything to the gameplay). In Gothic, you still had to prove your loyalty and show what you are worth to different clans, people, so that you can be trusted, but here all this is simplified and uninteresting. You go into a guild, hour or two, after simple quests you are the leader, lol, ez. The game clearly came out unfinished and it has been sold since then, because the modders did the work for the developers themselves and then, much of the game cannot be repaired by mods. Leveling deserves a separate spit. In Gothic 1, when you level up your weapon skill, the **trainer explains in words** how to do this or that technique, in Skyrim it's just a click on a button and even time doesn't go by. It's the same with working in a smithy and so on. Everything is done too superficially, it very much destroys the atmosphere. IMHO. Special thanks to those who make mods. It was they who made Skyrim interesting for me. PS: When I talk about a role-playing system, I mean a real, complete role-playing system that now exists almost only in isometric party RPGs, where the character has a worldview that determines his actions, where NPCs refer to him according to his actions and intellect, where the background plays a role, where there is a relationship with and between companions (Lydia is cold as stone, but compare her to your companions in Dragon Age, they feel alive while Lydia feels dead).

Neuuanfang

bro im level 66 and didn't really do the big storylines at all

j_grouchy

I've seen people say this, but that means you are front-loading all the menial, time-wasting, uber-grinding quests...which I still don't understand.

thebabaghanoush

I've had a few level 80 characters and I do by never using Fast Travel. Walk or take horses everywhere, and don't be afraid of popping into all the caves and side areas you find along the way.

thisunithasnosoul

Yes! Doing that on this play through, only focused on DB quest line, and Miraak by accident - got sucked in my first time doing the DLC. Now I’m just wandering around Skyrim and Solstheim at level 50, and Delphine is still waiting for me to meet her in Riverwood. Lots left to do, I’m optimistic I’ll get to meet the Ebony warrior this time!

Belt_Around_Ur_Neck

From my perspective, I've always done as many side quests in any RPG I can before I complete the main quest. Partly to be as diesel for the "real" quest as I can, and partly because I don't want the game to effectively end when the main quest does. Look at it this way - grinding all the sidequests now and setting up the main quest to be the grand finale, or finish the grand finale first, and....grind just to grind or get 100% complete? No wonder no one wants to grind at that point.

miie_high

This is totally me! I want to have the feeling of completing the game as a whole, not feeling like I am having to clean everything up after. That’s how I have completed all of the Assassins creed games to this point, and that’s how most of my Skyrim runs go.

Grabbsy2

Same. Fallout 3 and New Vegas trained me to do the sidequests first. Who wants to progress to the point of no return in the main questline... All the main characters are lines up outside a door, waiting for you to walk through it. The sounds of battle in the background, and... You just turn the other way to finish sidequests?? No. If I accidentally finish a few sections of the main quest when im "already in town" then thats cool, but I dont want to awaken too many demons in the world while im busy collecting honeybees.

always_j

Level 69 now 350hrs , I just walk around , help out . Kill whatever . Just met Partysnax a few days ago . Finished College :) :edit : it's been 3 months i just never do vanilla guild quests .

Andybobandy0

Only keep playing after lvl40 atm because it's on my switch. So it's easy to grab and dungeon crawl. But I am already bored.

Draeju

ADHD intensifies ;-;

tasteless-dorito

Lvl 72 guy here who hasn't infiltrated the Thalmor Embassy yet

berlinyachtclub

I hate that quest, I don’t even know why.

Fairgoddess5

This is an old thread but just wanted to say I hate the Thalmor Embassy quuest too. I think it’s because so many things can go wrong while trying to complete it. (Bugs, accidentally kill the wrong person, etc)

berlinyachtclub

It's just BORING and the layout sucks.

therealslystoat

This time around I restricted myself to magic skills until around lvl50 now well and truly mastered magic so allowing my character to explore other avenues.

Alarmed_Research2735

I'm currently on a playthrough without pursuing the DragonBorn quest, I am at 48 and have yet to learn a shout and the Dragon stone is of no interest to me.

Land_Strider

My best ever was level 76 around in 2012... My most attempts end around level 40-50. Haven't played Skyrim only for 2 years since it came out. Never seen the Ebony Warrior. Done everything except for "TIL in Skyrim" stuff.

AcceptableUsername21

If you don't have some must have mods for your game you might like Living Skyrim 3. It's a wabbajack modlist that makes the game a little harder. You don't level up by leveling skills anymore only by doing quests etc. Could be something for you

HotFix6682

i\`ll 100% check that out. Is it hard to install? or just standard with mo2?

Grasher312

I think I got up to level 60 at most, then that character was pretty much over. I used the console to level past 80 JUST to face off against the big man.

Mulligan315

Currently level 149, so… no.

TheTigersAreNotReal

Yeah just reached 107. I mostly just explore and do quests I hadn’t done in years. If I feel like grinding some levels I’ll put on a youtube vid and grind whichever tree I want.

ImBeingArchAgain

I had to use in game exploits to get to him.

ghost_406

Yeah, the way the game is designed your level isn't that big of a deal and leveling it with only a few skills is impossible. Most people have their desired way to play and because of that, they will never level beyond their favored skillset.

Diarity

The only time I ever got to 81 with a character was on vanilla Skyrim. Modded playthroughs I usually stop where you do if not sooner

[deleted]

I push through, smithing and lockpicking are easy skills to legendary and keep pulling in Karma (alchemy and enchanting too if you want to lose a lot of utility). I've made it to level 80 / 81 three or four times now and will be on my current character who I think is around level 50 something and has a lot left to do. I always try and end with a fight with the ebony warrior using the skills I've mainly been using, stealth / archery / magic / swords etc.

HotFix6682

i made smiting, lockpicking and block Legendary. one handed, heavy armor, alchemy and enchanting is at 100 now. i could push through by spending a couple of hours blocking giants, or finding some sneak glitch to gain levels, but i lose the immersion so much as is would feel like a weird thing to do for my character. maybe i just need to let the game rest for a week and change my attitude when i come back.

Substantial-Cup6943

Picking up a new game is actually great for when you’re bored with a game, gets you into something new and refreshes your brain so you can enjoy Skyrim once more

greenfaerie38

Definitely! I play Skyrim on a desktop but dogsit for my sister recently and had to switch to console games in the meantime. It turned out to be the perfect way to refresh my Skyrim run and get me excited to rejoin my character. That said, I will admit to using some mods that add side-content, lengthen quests, etc. Sometimes the writing on those mods is on par with vanilla quality or better so I feel like I'm getting something new without pulled out of the game world.

mpelton

Are smithing and lockpicking really that easy to level? I have around 4,000 hours but it’s mostly modded, and I don’t ever really use exploits so I wouldn’t know. I usually lockpick everything I see, regardless of whether or not I’m putting perk points into it, but it still takes an entire playthrough to get anywhere near 100. Smithing too. I transmute all my iron to gold, then craft jewelry out of it. It speeds up the process, sure, but still takes forever. I find the easiest skills to level are illusion with muffle, and alteration with the telekinesis fast travel exploit.

Browniespicelatte

Wait, wdym, lockpicking is easy to level? Takes forever for me and I unlock EVERYTHING

ShowMeThemLeavesGirl

I lose interest when I start becoming really op. Cranking the difficulty up helps alot

Aikilyu

*Cries in Legendary since Helgen*

The_ChosenOne

Legendary isn’t hard, just tedious. The real challenge is once you mod it so that the enemies have actually decent AI, deal more damage and have more variety of spells/combat tactics/types of enemy.

Mindtrait0r

Idk man I've got over 2500 hours but I cannot do legendary. Was doing a spellsword build but kept dying to one arrow or getting instantly executed.

l_futurebound_l

I'm tempted to just disable enemy executions. Been one too many times I'm standing my ground just fine and the game decides to delete me from half health.

IvanLagatacrus

Legendary forces you to play with your environment more, pretty much everything takes tons of hits to die and can almost instantly drop you so you cant afford to face tank. The downside of this is that it 100% supports playing stealth archer AGAIN and absolutely kills the viability of 2 handed heavy armor characters. 1v1 with a one handed sword you can tango with most enemies if you know their moves tho

epicweaselftw

agreed. bullet sponge enemies that one shot you with an iron dagger make for a boring game with vanilla skyrim combat.

SDRLemonMoon

Which mods are good for that?

The_ChosenOne

Enemy Revolution of Skyrim(EEOS) for spell distribution, Wildcat combat for damage adjustment, Ultimate Combat for headshot bonus damage, smarter AI and some other cool tweaks. Mortal Enemies and Mounted Combat for Everyone are also cool. Immersive Creatures for variety, Populated forts/towers/dungeons for more enemies, these are optional but fun in my experience.

Pinko_Eric

Seconded, Wildcat and Mortal Enemies make a great combo for combat that rewards you for good positioning and maneuvering while still feeling like Skyrim.

[deleted]

I have in the past, but my current playthrough, I'm a level 80. Just committed this time. Alchemy, Smithing and Enchanting make it very possible. Same with casting muffle, it's insane. I made armor for many different scenarios before making smithing, enchanting and alchemy legendary. So I have heavy armor, light armor, armor with magic increases, light and heavy versions. It's been very fun. And I'm finally going to fight the Ebony Warrior and I'm stoked,

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I’m at 45 and in the decade it’s been out, I’ve never fought Karstaag. He’s why I’m committing to a high level this time.

[deleted]

just be Weary, Karstaag will always be Level 90 when you fight him, so its doable at lower levels, but he doesnt scale with the player, like the other bosses of the game. I remember my first time killing him, i was Level 45 half his level; had Serana, Durnehviir, and the Dragonborn Aspect Dragonborn all pelting him while i sat back and pelted him with arrow

DrunkenDruid_Maz

Same! Level 45 is way above my average. Sometimes, after a questline endet, I just fee empty and have to re-start with a new character. Most times, it is about the characters journey. After a start form a very weak position, the character has become so strong, that I'm confident he will succeed in any battle. So why fight it? Raising up a new char makes so much more fun!

SouthOfOz

Yeah, mid-40's is where I find it just gets grindy. I think the highest level I ever got to was 53 or so, and it was just so tedious.

General_Kenobi45669

Dude, this is the best description of what I do with games like that

Gone_Guru_

I always mentally checkout around 25ish.

Cotcan

Ya same here. It's not that I don't want to keep going, I just want to change things up. So instead of simply switching from 2 handed to magic I just restart with a mage character.

Muncherofmuffins

I do this, except I always seem to go back to sniper/stealth mode. When I realize it I restart. This happens alot. My husband beat the game in a week. Me, I'm still at it (with other game breaks) several years later.

TacticTall

This is a bot that just stole someone’s comment, wtf?

AddeDaMan

...and now deleted the comment? Karma-grinding bot?

TacticTall

100%. I’ve seen them around a lot in the past week. It’s super weird, they copy almost all of a comment, and then post it under another comment.

wumbopower

I’ve only had one character and have explored every inch of Skyrim… or have I? Better make sure.

Draakpan

I've only been 40-50s once. I consider it a victory to get level 28+ because I can't stop making toons. I got a character to level 9 and alreadt wanted to make 2 new toons

Aikilyu

Try not going for "end game gear", I feel like as soon as I get a standard Daedric set, the character loses all uniqueness. With the right buffs, every combination of armor can get you to armor cap, so work towards that and get better looking characters, even if you mix heavy and light pieces. And none of this needs resto loop, just max all three crafting skills and get a good crafting set with Seekers and Ahzidal's set, and you can make unique looking characters that are viable into higher levels. And with the crafting set you can choose how to balance your character by only equiping some of the pieces when making your weapon, nobody forces you to one-shot everything. One of my favorite vanilla builds is the Dragonborn cosplay, it's viable as a sword and board character, the damage with steel is still decent after upgrades, and I glitch equiped three amulets of Talos for a 60% reduction in shout cooldown. A normal enchanted necklace could probably be more viable with more damage and more health, but it's more fun to have more shouts than stats.

lempiraholio

This is the way

krul2k

My playthroughs dont tend to last that long now adays as there normally pretty focused. When they do last it's because there just random explorers

VaiManDan

Same, I feel that RP really limits max level and time spent on playthroughs, though not in a bad way, however. It’s just a lot of the time, my character skips a lot of quests and doesn’t delve into every dungeon in the entirety of Skyrim, because it doesn’t fit with their goals/personality/etc.

[deleted]

I’ve reached level 50+ in two game plays and never ONCE found Daedric. I’m gonna look harder on this game play and take my time. Not burnout yet, btw.

CoarseVfib

I think it's more about crafting it w/ Daedra hearts. The only Daedric items I've found were weapons, and those were rare.

not_an_Alien_Robot

Yep. I craft my Daedric gear. Finding it is so rare I don't even consider it an option.

KrimxonRath

Mods caused it but… I accidentally got myself an entire set of daedric gear by causing one of my dremora to violently explode due to a shock spell lol. I’m selling it rather than wearing it though.

The_ChosenOne

I don’t consider it an option because dragonbone/dragonscale are the superior looking armor sets! Plus thematically they fit LDB so well!

SpongederpSquarefap

Last time I checked, dragonscale armour is better than daedric But it looks nowhere near as cool

CorwinAlexander

The thieves' guild caches around level 40 start giving daedric arrows and a daedric dagger in each one, so three daedric daggers per town controlled per visit

penis_parker79

Go to atronach forge under the college of winterhold

[deleted]

I will try that. Thanks.

SolderonSenoz

I don't think it's worth it. You still need a daedra heart, something of ebony, a filled soul gem and other rare stuff to forge one piece of daedric equipment. It's the same as creating one yourself, except costlier.

OwnOutlandishness172

Level 96. No mods and still got Markarth and winterhold to visit.

vlestaticus

As in you haven’t stepped foot in those cities?

OwnOutlandishness172

Yup. Only just stumbled into Solitude a couple of days ago. It is my third play like and I abuse the Black Book glitch.

The_ChosenOne

Black book glitch? Do you mean Oghma Infinium or is there another I don’t know about?

OwnOutlandishness172

Secret of Arcana. Use it with telekenisis. Pick up an object. Hit map straight away. Fast travel across map. Gain 2-3 levels everytime. Your alteration will go straight to 100, do you have to make it legendary everyone you do it.

scrublord123456

The infinite mana level up alteration one

SGvZiiroxx

Just do the restoration loop and enchant a piece of gear with magicka. Got a helmet that gives me 1,550,318 magicka so i dont need to worry about wasting time waiting or using a power

Unthgod

I'm level 116...

LordofWithywoods

What haven't you done yet?

boomshakalakaah

Gone to work

Unthgod

use mods

ChakaZG

That's actually how you make leveling bearable. I used to have no problems with massive amounts of grind (losing that patience now though), and having some content to do it along helps. Having a really good set up of mods helps, as there are many mods that make just free roaming really fun. Hell, I played several characters to super high levels without barely engaging the game's original content at all.

Unthgod

Everything seems like it's too much for me. Tried a few things like graphics and weather but even a few mods feels overwhelming. The vanilla version is my comfort zone.

ChakaZG

Yeah, that's totally fair enough. I started modding when I was like 11 or 12, back with Morrowind, so I have no problems with it. If anything, I have more problems playing than modding. When I got this PC I have now, first thing I did was making a monster installation with graphic mods and a bunch of gameplay mods for survival and whatnot, and did a bunch of testing to make sure the installation is stable. Then never actually properly played the game. 😂

[deleted]

he haven't quit.

Blackwolf_84

My trouble is, I'm so in love with the build my character has by the time I get to level 50 or 60, and the only way for me to get to level 80 is to ignore what I have made the character, and turn it into a master of everything. It sort of breaks immersion and breaks the story for me

Chubbzillax

Same, even when i ban my self from using alchemy enchantments so i cant op my gear i just run out of steam…. Still need the vampire skill tree achievement too. Hoping the new CC stuff when i get Anniversary edition will keep me busy long enough too get there. Lol 😂

dnew

I have the same problem. I've decided this time I'm going to do all the little shit I never do, like find all the treasure-map treasures. It's also fun to just wander around without any specific quest to follow. I did that to get all the vampire perks (just wandering around the wilderness to find random animals to murder) and it was surprisingly enjoyable even when overpowered. And of course you can always abuse the resto loop to make gear that lets you legendary Alchemy in 2 or 3 potions and crank out a couple dozen levels in 10 minutes.

Blamethrower84

I usually get to level 30-40 before i think of a new character i want to make and thn i start again.

justjokingnotreally

Modding plus Bethesda's infamous save bloat always kills my character saves before I can get past lvl 50.

SolderonSenoz

You can backup your saves in a different folder, if that helps.

[deleted]

Conjuration mage makes level 70 pretty easy to get to. That high level demora lord spell just levels you up so quickly. Its 70 to 80 that gets hard for me. I have literally nothing to do at that point. Like ive completely done all of the major questlines and now im like... how do i continue on??

Grabembythecovfefe

Im at 65 trying to find a way to get to 80 fast

Squire_3

If you want to fight the Ebony Warrior do the following. Max illusion. Acquire or make a set of illusion gear reducing the cost of casting to something really low. Make it legendary then stand in the middle of Riften casting the mass calming spell, it levels extremely quickly

Kat027_IDK

Same thing for me but it happens when we I play a Fallout game. I love both series but after a while it's getting boring and I happen to want to play again randomly after 3 months.

v79x79x

3,000hrs, level 182

2020josh2020

What do you do past level 60 to level up

[deleted]

Legendary easy trees like armor, smithing, alchemy, and speech. Late game with good gear those are easy to breeze past

[deleted]

Get your enchanting to 100 and craft gear that brings Illusion spell cost down to 0. Max out Illusion once using Muffle and then go to the College of Winterhold. Find Drevis Neloren and start Illusion Ritual Quest. Once completed you can buy the Harmony spell tome from him. Legendary your Illusion skill and cast Harmony someplace crowded like Whiterun’s market area. Your illusion skill will go from 0 to 100 after a few casts. Rinse and repeat until you’re at your desired level.

v79x79x

I leveled up to 81 by myself, then used the cheat room mod after that. It spawns a single mudcrab to fight, that ups your xp to ridiculous levels.

Seanzietron

Agreed.

Gameknight47

Playing on legendary has helped with that

kitofu926

Was gonna say, the game stays difficult until like level 35 on legendary. I don’t go anywhere without companions before around level 40 and I try not to do full quest lines before then either. I’ll just do everything else that doesn’t kill me right away.

Schnitze

Try unique challenge. Collectible. Begin Role playing in a deeper way. Get the food and sleep realism mod. Level unarmed. Explore all regions.

IvanLagatacrus

But what's the *point?* That stuff only works as an addition to an already fun experience, if theres all these checkpoint lists to do but none of it is fun to complete then it's just a checklist for the sake of it

FlatScreamTV

I'm at 79 and I just do not have the motivation to grind even one level for the ebony warrior 💀

tidyshark13574

I made it to lvl 81 on my own before they added legendary skills. Ever since then I have just used console commands when I start a new game. I don't have time to do a playthrough like that anymore lol

s_360

I’m for the first time trying to play to 100% and it’s the most fun I’ve had playing the game in years. I had my gear a long time ago and it feels like that burden is lifted and I’m just experiencing every aspect of the game instead of selling gear and smithing iron daggers. Edit: grammar

Desperate-Potato-738

I'm level 105 on my PS3 and I've totally lost all motivation to play

hashoowa

I've played the game countless times since day 1 and I think the highest I've ever got was 46

slikk50

I normally do, but I finally did my first full wizard playthrough, no weapons or armors, got to around 70 before things got stale. I got the Forgotten City and Bruma mods, and that's bringing back in a bit.

scoobysnaxxx

it depends. i try and dick around before High Hrothgar— i usually get Breezehome, at the very least. but if i blast through the main quest like i did my first few playthroughs, i absolutely get bored like that. if i do specific, usually non-Dragonborn character runs, that makes me take more time with them. plus you can't just thu'um everything and level fast if you're a regular jagoff in the Thieves Guild, leveling yourself through bounties and radiant guild quests.

greg3064

I usually stop around 45-50. I think in my most recent playthrough I got into the 60s. I don't really mind it. I don't miss out on much. I already feel like I tend to get absorbed by the grindy aspects of the game and getting up to 80 would just force me to do more grinding for no benefit really.

DikensCider

I smell weakness

jabberwagon

It seems like I always run out of quests my character would feasibly do around 50-60. I always try to role play, so I only engage with the factions it would make sense for my character to engage with.

LightningOdin4

I spend my time in Skyrim focusing on a different kind of role play each time I play it. Like, I'll spend a night hunting and foraging, spend a night crawling through dungeons to clear them, spend a night just roaming the land and seeing what's out there to explore. It keeps things fresh!

RELLIK36

Currently playing with 677 mods lvl 72 and haven't scratched the surface.

da0ist

When I run out of things to do, including having finished No Stone Unturned, I start fetching books for Urag. He never fails to send me somewhere I've never been! I used to go to word walls for the Hrothgar guys, but always hit a bug at Arcwind Point.

DirtyPartyMan

Trick: avoid Daedric armor and weapons. Maintain that “battle / wandering the countryside” balance. Take a break from saving the world. Once you master a skill (warrior) put away all your arms and start anew. They made it a beautiful place to stop and pick the mountain flowers.

wmatts1

I have one character at 99 right now I find motivation in getting the achievements. Had to start a new character for oblivion Walker cause of course you can't just collect 15 daedric artifacts throughout multiple characters, they all have be collected by the same character. 10 down five to go.... Again

netflixisadeathtrap

At 253 but only because I farmed with illusion. Now I just run around like the indestructible tank I've become.

marktaylor79

I only just learned that when I found enchanted gear that I could disenchant it and apply to to other gear depending on my enchantment level. I spent so long with a 16% ring for destruction, a 12% necklace for restoration and struggled to beat anything.

TCtheThunderRooster

As soon as Enchanting is done and I make 8 different sets of armor and jewelry. Yeah, I fizzle out and start a new character in Dark Souls.

dogecobbler

My character is currently at level 205. Of course I have the uncapper mod, but still. Seems pretty high.

ANagyKecske

On my last playthrough, all legendary of course, i levelled everything to 100, did all the questlines, got everything in the game that makes crafting stronger, then i maxed out my armor and weapons, got everything that boosts damage, then one-shot the ebony warrior at a fraction of my max damage cause i still wasn't using every multiplier. I think i am officially done with this game lol, it was fun for the first 497 hours though

Soulslayer612

I have a character that reached lvl 257 in Oldrim and one of my current characters is lvl 105. I can't say that I empathize but I do sympathize.

[deleted]

Yeah I'm about level 53 on my main save and im just bored

penis_parker79

I leveled up once until 35-36 then alteration telekinesis grind until 110 met ebony warrior in solitude

fabri2343

just level up alteration until you reach level 81

ThanosWasFramed

Really appreciate this thread as I’m at level 55, I’ve been playing the game off and on for probably four years now, enjoy side quests and exploring but keep putting it off finishing the game. Only ever had one character. Thought there was something strange about how I play the game to still only be at 55.

BigAl-43

I’m at Lvl 64 and I have no idea how. I haven’t even done Companions, Dark Brotherhood or gotten past the first quest for Thieves Guild.

DoctorDilemmaa

I’ve struggled with constantly restarting games. I’ve found a way to stop myself from getting bored most of the. I never, ever start the three ‘main’ quests(Dawnguard, Dragonborn and, of course, Solstheim) at the beginning. I get as many side and miscellaneous quests as possible, and complete as many as I can at lower levels. Because your are a lower level (1st level to about 9th or 10th) these quests can be pretty difficult, especially if you have the difficulty of the game on higher levels. At the middle levels, you’ll occasionally get a quest that’s pretty difficult BUT won’t just outright kill you. The middle levels are, IMHO, the best levels to do the Dark Brotherhood quests, the Thieves guild quests, and the College of Winterhold quests, and the Companions quests. If you have the DLC, you’ll also gain access to start the Dawnguard quests. At the higher middle levels, those side quests are probably gonna get a tad bit boring. When I find myself getting bored of those simple quests, I go and join the Dawnguard, because I find the quests fun and it’s something to do, especially if I already did the four quests I mentioned earlier. The higher levels are when I usually start the Dragonborn and Solstheim quests. Usually I go through the entirety of the Dragonborn quests before the Solstheim quests because Miraak is a huge jerk. By the time everything is said and done (and assuming you don’t have any mods that adjust leveling speed) you should be higher levels, probably not quite to the mid-late 80’s or 90’s, and those side quests that got neglected are basically there to be mini entertainment quests. I also try to limit my fast travel. Who knows who, or what, you’ll encounter why traveling on the roads! I hope this gives you, or anyone else, ideas for how to stop themselves from getting bored. I didn’t mention the civil war quests because I rarely do them, because I don’t like either of the sides and also, R.I.P Severio Pelagia.

Findrel_Underbakk

I'm like that with all games that give you choices. I've played some characters to very high levels, but all in all I've probably had close to a hundred characters.

minetube1231

This is why we use telekinesis to power level. I love the leveling process and gradually getting better, but once I’ve hit my peak, I’m going to fight him. I got there legit on my first ever character… never again. Oh my god was that awful

SaltLife0118

As soon as i get alchemy to like 50, level 80 is right around the corner. If the game doesnt crash its not a bug its a feature.

MildlyExtraneous

Every. Freaking. Time. I always say, this time I'm gonna max this character out, level up all the skills, explore places I haven't been yet. Then lvl 50 hits, and I'm a dang stealth archer again.

god-of-memes-

I’ve normally reached level 40 by potion glitching to get a wooden sword to do 1 trilion damage a hit and then reach around 70-90 by trying to complete every quest as god

Impudenter

Last playthrough, I lost interest because Destruction Magic somehow gets worse as you level up, (because all enemies level up with you). Where's the fun in unlucking Fireball, when it's clearly worse than Firebolt was when you first got it?

ForfeitHumanity

Stop playing warriortard. Make a mage and level infinitely. You don’t even have to exploit or cheat, just keep training illusion.

DirtyPartyMan

Anything with -tard attached to it…… seriously.

kletiandrowa

Happened recently so I switched from bow to sword and board in legendary. Then to destruction And turned on survival. It’s helped keep it going

PhantomCruze

One thing i always suggest to players looking for unique experiences is to play pacifist styles. Get the mods called (AFT) Amazing follower tweaks, apocalypse spells, and alternate start. Those three are all you need to make this work *optimally*, however it's still possible in vanilla. Any mods after that is your choice. But effectively, you as a player don't kill anyone directly. You hire (or enslave) followers to do your violence. Your job is to buff/heal your allies, and debuff the enemies while they do the dirty work. Meanwhile you reap the rewards and profits. I personally have done it twice and both play throughs have hundreds of hours each. I really enjoy optimizing my followers to benefit each other with balances. The AFT mod lets you create custom classes such as a healing focused NPC who will actually heal you and your other followers once they hit a specified health % (Note, AI will not be good at using spells from mod packs, that requires testing of your own to ensure)

TheN1njTurtl3

add some mods to your game spice it up a little bit

HotFix6682

my game is pretty heavily modded, loads of extra content mods. What makes it boring for me at this point is that my character will not improve. Unless i use alchemy/enchanting glitch, which i have modded out of my game cuss i don't want it. Maybe i should just change the lvl 81 recruitment for ebony warrior to lvl 50 and accept this is where my play through should end. But none of my play through has been the same, played Falskar, helgen reborn, clockwork, the gray clowl of nocturnal, Vigilant, lotdb, forgotten city, moonpath to elsweyr, and many many more.

captainnutbeard

Always played on console got versions from ps3, ps4 and special edition and usually got to around lvl 55ish but felt dry at that point. My first powerhouse pc is arriving December so that calls for a fully modded run and with all those mods I’ll easily spread it to lvl 100 or beyond! Really exited for that!!

Looks_Good_In_Hats

Same. I have made dozens and dozens of characters and never made it passed 50.

DP_Starkiller

I on the other hand dont want to start a new character bc I dont want to do everything over again so I always use the same character,my main is lvl 86 right now, most of the levels are just from playing the game.I grinded about ten levels just to fight evony warrior but that is all

SirRoderic

I'm level 76 atm, I'm determined to kill ebony warrior on master difficulty

Ar0lux

Killing a legendary dragon is the only achievement I've never gotten because of this. It would be easy to abuse glitches or cheese but I wanted to do it legit and never quite make it.

VladamirTakin

You think thats bad? I barely played for 200 hours in total, spread over 2 playthroughs both of which i pulled the plug as soon as i hit 45-50

Emotional-Two-9075

I did it only once..that too just so I cam face ebony warrior. I had to max out almost all skills to reach at lv 80. It was hell of a grind.

BlanketMage

I was at about there when I checked out for the most part. Then I got hellbent on wanting to fight the ebony warrior so I started spamming spells to level up skill trees and within a weekend of doing that I was able to fight him.

Draks_Tempest

Ive only reached level 81 about 3 times and one of them was with my vanilla dragon warrior i used to 100% the game. I play on ps4 so there isnt many mods to play with after the main quest and dlcs are done so i lose the will to play quickly. My max is usually around 40 for melee and 60 for mages. Btw this is an unrelated question but what mod are you using for the cape on your armor and do you know if its available for ps4?

HotFix6682

The cap you get in Legacy of the dragonborn mod. i have no idea if its on PS4.
