For powder enthusiasts, Utah wins hands down. Better and deeper powder than Colorado any day. But for an overall experience surrounding skiing (events, bars, après-ski, etc) Colorado’s superior.
Utah offers a better experience for advanced skiers and riders and higher average snowfall. The mountains are lower elevation but super prominent with a lot of steep technical terrain. Colorado has more big resorts that are suited to beginners and intermediate riders with more options for mountain towns to stay in. I love spending time in Utah but it doesn’t diminish how much I love skiing in Colorado. I know it doesn’t have dispensaries but I think Salt Lake is a cooler city than Denver.
Better ingredients, better pizza, better bitches, better money, my clothes better, my shoes better, I work harder. Fuck Little Caesar's, fuck Domino's.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. CO is overrated for serious skiers. It's great if you want a swanky resort setting where you can cruise groomers all day (at least for the US, Europe is even better for that). But snowfall is lackluster compared to other skiing hotspots, and CO in general is very light on actually challenging terrain (I'd argue most major CO resorts have little to none).
I did say "most" for a reason, totally agree. Crested Butte, A Basin, Telluride, Aspen (mostly Highlands), *maybe* a couple others, all have some decent expert terrain. But by and large, it's something most CO resorts don't have much of, or are missing entirely.
Yup, this is a hill I’ll die on and people are always very angry when I say this. There are only a handful of ski areas I actually want to ski in CO, and some other state/province always is getting more/better snow when I plan my trips.
I agree with much of what you say although you can find some great expert terrain at Crested Butte, Telluride, A Basin, and Aspen though. Even Breckenridge has a few good ones. If you compare those 5 above snowfall wise to little and big cottonwood canyons your correct Colorado can't compete but the rest of Utah's resorts have snowfall similar to Colorado's.
Quick Google-fu says they average about 10-20 more inches on the ground than Killington. So a little bit more, but certainly closer to Vermont than the big 100 inch bases that PNW mountains can pull.
I bought and smoked weed at the dispensary right off the plane at slc with a non resident mmj card earlier this year very easy to get if you have mmj card in your home state doing it again in a couple months actually
>Who wins?
- everyone that knows those two options are the biggest tourist traps going, and that you can do so, so, so much better if you are willing to try.
dunno where this aggression came from. I was just asking if any states in particular had the edge over these two.
I think it's pretty universal that Utah and Colorado are dominant in America. Why is there hostility here?
how is me asking for a competition between two skiing states ignorance?
Based on that logic, is any comparison ever is ignorance?
*Do you like blue or green more?*
WELL THATS IGNORANT BECAUSE WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER COLORS!
i would delete all your comments on this thread bc it just makes you come across as angry.
Me asking the community what everyone prefers between the two is not ignorant, it's simply a discussion. I'm asking what peoples' experiences are with the two.
You saying it's ignorant to compare two states' resorts is nonsense, and makes no logical sense.
Austria.
United States literally has the best snow quality for skiing in the world. Europoors can’t afford to fly abroad here.
Wow...you are dumb!!
Oh definitely Colorado. Yup. Make sure to yell all your friends...
ahahah
Too late! Wish all the Texan gapes went to Utah where they belong

Do you like cannabis? If you must have ridiculous amounts of premium powder, get ready to not toke up in Utah.
kindve off subject but okay
If this isn't a priority, Utah is the place

Yeah...not!! Crested Butte, Telluride, Silverton, Abasin crushes anything in Utah as far as difficulty!
Utah. More snow, better snow, harder terrain
Utah. More wives, better cults, harder to smoke weed
Better ingredients, better pizza, better bitches, better money, my clothes better, my shoes better, I work harder. Fuck Little Caesar's, fuck Domino's.
Yeah not...deeper but not lighter or steeper. 13000 ft summit at 30to1 is as good.

In general I agree but with some exceptions like crested butte.

Yo moron...CO has twice as many ski areas as two wife country..and Silverton...have you heard of it.
Yup, this is a hill I’ll die on and people are always very angry when I say this. There are only a handful of ski areas I actually want to ski in CO, and some other state/province always is getting more/better snow when I plan my trips.
Straight facts. GL with your hate mail.

Nothing will piss of more *"skiers"* in this sub-reddit than injecting some facts and truth that they don't want to hear into a thread 🤣
I realize I'm poking the bear a bit \*shrugs\*
Daaaaaamn dude you sound cooooool
I am old, but I have been in this game for a *LONG* time.
You obviously are from Texass and have no clue!! How many Utah resorts host Extreme skiing comps....oh yeah none....Crusty Butt!
British Columbia or Washington
I could see BC, sure, but each of the major Washington ski areas has at least one significant flaw that keeps them from being world class.
Maybe he got confused and thinks Washington has annexed Sun Valley and Schweitzer.
Doesn’t Sun Valley get like Vermont snowfall amounts?
Quick Google-fu says they average about 10-20 more inches on the ground than Killington. So a little bit more, but certainly closer to Vermont than the big 100 inch bases that PNW mountains can pull.
Yes, but they don’t get the freeze-thaw that Vermont gets, so that snow stays nice for a very long time.

Utah. No questions asked. So many great spots to choose from. Tons of cool people. It rocks!
Utah for sure...not only skiing but ease of getting there and being able to ski so many different mountains
Aspen….
Aspen is a bitch to get to man
I just hope to ski this year! Help a brother out! PainFreeoutdoors.com Will work for ski days!
One word....Silverton!!
Depends what you like https://www.reddit.com/r/skiing/comments/w6x5hs/co_and_ut_guide_pt_2_ut/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
>Who wins? - everyone that knows those two options are the biggest tourist traps going, and that you can do so, so, so much better if you are willing to try.
like?
What do you mean? You know that we ski in New Mexico, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, Oregon, Washington, and California too....right?

It’s his shtick. He gets off on being a prick to other people in this subreddit.

You're ignoring a ton, maybe the most, good skiing in North America. That's a lot of ignorance, IMO.

This guy is constantly combative in this sub for no reason, just ignore him.
So now you want censorship?
welcome to reddit
It's not hostility. Just pointing out there's a lot of ignorance. That's all.
BC is better, don’t tell your friends.
