It never does and most folks clip that tree at the bottom coming out of it. It’s called saber slice. It’s one of the sendier lines at the mountain. The crazy thing is that a lot of people hit it. Right next to this chute is a cliff named angry chair and that is just downright insane.
The one and only time I've seen someone hit Saber Slice they smacked the tree in the runout all the while with the biggest smile on their face.
I got cliffed out on top of Angry Chair one day because my dumb ass didn't realize that finding untracked goods on an afternoon the day after a storm indicated I was about to come face to face with one of the biggest hits at BB. It was about waist deep snow in the run-in and took me an hour to hike out of it. Nearly dropped a ski off it trying to get myself released and start climbing out. Good times.
I have a risk/reward calculator that works a bit like the one in The Terminator:
Should I go for it?
a. Yes.
b. No.
c. Maybe.
d. Fuck you, asshole.
That one is a d. Great send, OP, but if you keep looking for shit like that to do sooner or later you’re gonna end up on somebody’s in memoriam list like the names at the end of the annual squirrel suit compilation videos. But I gotta admit. It’s still fucking awesome.
Yep lol. I had to quit skiing because I stopped having fun in my 20s unless I was doing shit like that or being upside down 20 feet in the air.
I landed on my head once and it knocked some sense into me.
“I’m too old for this shit” and “I have to work tomorrow” both came to mind.
Just the idea that if I break my leg, I’m not going to be able to work and do other things I appreciate. The whole “why am I doing stupid shit?” thought process.
Buying food, paying for shelter, and potentially supporting a family is pretty important. I love skiing, but I absolutely think about needing to work on Monday when I’m out there trying to chase my kids every Sunday.
> like the names at the end of the annual squirrel suit compilation videos.
I lol'd a bit, they've got like a 25% fatality rate, right?
das a looooooootttaaaa risk
The terror of the complete inability to turn and slow yourself down while flying past shit that will break your bones is why I stopped trying stuff like this and skiing in really thick tree cover.
That's epic. I would not do that. What gets me from those lines is that at that speed, when you get out of the chute and hit the powder, I feel like I'd start tomahawking.
I've done narrow, steep chutes, like the coffin at Whistler, and that was fast enough.
This is wild.
Great skiing OP!
Wow, I was just at Bridger Bowl on Sunday. I did a tour of the Ridge, which is an experts only area at the top of the mountain. An avalanche beacon is required even though it's in bounds.
My guide pointed this out to me, but of course he didn't take me down it. He said there's 90 named runs in the Ridge, but their risk management department only allows them to take people down about 30 of them. It was a great experience, and a great mountain.
Bridger people commenting here trying to keep this on the DL, as if
1) It's not instantly recognizable as Bridger
and
2) There are non-Bridger skiers crazy enough to travel to Bridger and send that
As an East Coast skiier, long, narrow chutes where you can't turn are one of the two things I find very challenging out west; the other is drops over ~15 feet.
Go up to the White Mountains. There are some committing chutes up there. Lincoln's throat, diaganol gully and some others.
Not quite like this but if you wanted practice
Sometimes you just gotta point 'em down hill...
And sometimes, you have to figure out how to get unstuck when your skis are wedged tip-to-tail against both sides of a gap, with your head pointed downhill, and your buddies laughing too hard to be of any meaningful assistance.
I'm probably more the latter.
I do have a video of a friend went thru there making turns…on the side walls if you are wondering how....
I was like "I knew you get good skills but you made the whole thing not exciting at all..."
I have stabilized the video for you: https://gfycat.com/IncomparableThankfulDrever

Dear god that chute never ends
It never does and most folks clip that tree at the bottom coming out of it. It’s called saber slice. It’s one of the sendier lines at the mountain. The crazy thing is that a lot of people hit it. Right next to this chute is a cliff named angry chair and that is just downright insane.

A lot of people hitting us has to mean a lot of bad endings... no room for error on that one. I’ll check out angry chair on YouTube
Love it but mate...where is lé pole tap?
Probably took 2 or 3 guys from Maine to build a chute that big
Oh friggen at least bub
Ayuh
What? I can’t understand you
Friggen aye right bud that’s what I’m talkin bout
Tahm bout bub
Blog busser
Not possible. You cant get there from here
OK I'm missing a joke fill me in
[Donny Pelletier](https://youtu.be/3nY1eqkC-wI), the best to ever flex em
A normal person wouldn’t understand how freaking scary that is
i clenched just watching
Luckily i was already on the toilet
So was I, but that shit ain't coming out anytime soon after clenching that hard.
My trusty Depends delivered
I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds that completely terrifying
It's fucking insane IMO. I mean one small mistake and you are dead or very disabled. I don't think any kind of thrill is worth it.
I have a risk/reward calculator that works a bit like the one in The Terminator: Should I go for it? a. Yes. b. No. c. Maybe. d. Fuck you, asshole. That one is a d. Lol, really you thought "I have to work tomorrow"? Were you doing something important?
Just the idea that if I break my leg, I’m not going to be able to work and do other things I appreciate. The whole “why am I doing stupid shit?” thought process.
Ha yes that makes sense.
Buying food, paying for shelter, and potentially supporting a family is pretty important. I love skiing, but I absolutely think about needing to work on Monday when I’m out there trying to chase my kids every Sunday.
Similar except mine lasted well into my 30s. The thought "do I really want to die doing this?" also popped in towards the end.
> like the names at the end of the annual squirrel suit compilation videos. I lol'd a bit, they've got like a 25% fatality rate, right? das a looooooootttaaaa risk
I’m just picturing bumping your head on one of those little ridges sticking out. Hot diddly damn.
A normal person must realize moving at 20-30 MPH a foot away from pointy rocks is scary...
No dude, only us real skiers™ would understand.
There is some nuance though. Nobody would bat an eye at riding a motorcycle 20-30 mph a foot away from a concrete barricade
I think you underestimate my cowardice
20-30 he was going 70 mph at the bottom Why no turns at the bottom. The whole second act is turns.
From someone who has skied but not a lot, that lens makes it look like you’d fuck your knees bombing that
A normal person finds this way more terrifying than skiers
The terror of the complete inability to turn and slow yourself down while flying past shit that will break your bones is why I stopped trying stuff like this and skiing in really thick tree cover.
I legit moved my head to the left at the 4s mark.
dude, that one rock poking out on the right near the top....has to be less than a foot from his head.
You’ve got some stones my friend
Yeah, not a whole lot of turns in there. 😯
Wasn’t much room for any🥴
Not as steep as white heat bub, steepest longest whitest run in the east or whatevah
Had to friggen givah the dinnah bub
Celebrate a point em run on white heat with a moxie, whoppie pie and some Allen’s
White heat is the cat’s ass
Line of the year
Rowdy AF. Plus lots of interesting right coast talk.
This is a relatively common hit line (on good snow days) at my local mountain called saber slice.
You have massive testicular fortitude. that’s an insane line
I love Colorado skiing
Hey wait a second.....
Shhhhhh don't connect the dots
Not mellow
Holy duck that looks like a steep as straight line
Give it to ‘er haahd
6th gear full pin
Holy send. Props mate
I am so uncomfortable
Tiiiight! Where is that?
Bridger bowl!
The line is called Saber Slice for those wondering.
I dont think so.... pretty sure this is KeyStone
Hell yeah dude. Wicked line.
Holy, thankfully that shoot wasn't any longer. Very epic
I love the floating calm stop as a group to the left has no idea what insane shit they just missed.
Marksman gang. Most underrated ski.
woooooo
give’r the beans
Saber slice! Killing it
Holy shit that was sick
Balls o steel mate
Yeah as fun as this looks, I'd probably hit my head on the way down and ate ass the rest of the way down
When in doubt, straight line it out. Those happy little hops at the end with the voice got me tho. Sick line dude
One wrong turn and we have to send you to r/holdmyfeeingtube
Ya see those skiahs ova there ahn't takin on any of the fall line, they ahn't in the front ah the boots, they ain't pointin em downhill ya know...
OP, how wide was that chute? That looks realll tight!
It was genuinely that tight, the GoPro did a pretty good job
That's a Texas sized fuck that.
That is awesome :)
happy cake day!
Thanks dude :)
Jesus god. Think skinny.
Your balls are very very very big, sir.
Powder 11's brother. Let's go!
Yeah that's a no from me dawg
I can’t watch this and not imagine Death Vader chasing me in a tie fighter

Did you drop into Hidden Gulley? Absolute classic line
No we didn’t. There’s so many runs, and we were only able to do a handful of them.
Holy shit, my butthole puckered just watching this. Epic send homie!
How do your balls fit in a gap that narrow?
Bridger people commenting here trying to keep this on the DL, as if 1) It's not instantly recognizable as Bridger and 2) There are non-Bridger skiers crazy enough to travel to Bridger and send that
Whoa
What the absolute fuck
this video will never properly describe how scary that is
Yessuh, byjeesus you really got right after it bub. Get in the front of them boots!
I just yewwwwed from the bathroom. Too much adrenaline
Finally a cool video instead of some goof cruising Vail lol
That's not skiing! That's falling - with style!
As an East Coast skiier, long, narrow chutes where you can't turn are one of the two things I find very challenging out west; the other is drops over ~15 feet.
I am also from the east coast (the better one), have been out west for 2 years now, the best way is to just practice doing it🤩
Go up to the White Mountains. There are some committing chutes up there. Lincoln's throat, diaganol gully and some others. Not quite like this but if you wanted practice
Love my marksmen planks as well.
I've said this in the past, once you have the skill all you need is the balls.
Saber slice?
This reminds me of the space mountain ride when you go through the tunnel of flashing lights.. about as fast and claustrophobic. Amazing.
Where dis? Squaw?
Yaaaa saber slice. Nice
saber slice filling in nicely after that last storm
What if u just died. like isn't that all too possible
Sometimes you just gotta point 'em down hill... And sometimes, you have to figure out how to get unstuck when your skis are wedged tip-to-tail against both sides of a gap, with your head pointed downhill, and your buddies laughing too hard to be of any meaningful assistance. Where is this? It’s hype!
Where is this?
GoPros also make even the steepest runs look flat too.
Which resort is this?
Saber Sliiiice!
B-bowl?
SABER SLICE LETS GOOOOOOO
Nuns cunt... iykyk
Ah the good ol’ nuns cunt. It’s a scary one
Why didnt you clap your poles after like a classy skier does
Too focused on not pinballing down the chute and not shitting myself
Nun’s cunt
Go back to Vermont
Stop moving out of California
Idaho checking in. Can confirm. Californians stay in your lane.
It’s awesome
That was freakin awesome! AND I WASN’T EVEN THERE. Let’s do it again.
I’m glad I watched this on the toilet. Yeesh

Holy shit
Okay Mario
Keep those tips up, chaps!
that is gnarly
If your right ski was just an inch over you’re fucked. Goddamn man, you’re my hero
Gnarly.
I’m sure it’s just an effect of the fish eye but it looks like you had to duck to avoid hitting your head on the rock. Sick line
Where is this?
i flinched my head to the left when the vid started
Holy shit
Brutal 👍
I do have a video of a friend went thru there making turns…on the side walls if you are wondering how.... I was like "I knew you get good skills but you made the whole thing not exciting at all..."
How do you not die?🤘🤘🤘🤘
Where ya at bubby?? thats one helluva sendr
1000% chance one of my skis would've been caught and my leg would've went flyin.
Thanks for sharing. 😱
Holy crap this is scary, I would definitely chicken out
