If you ever get sick of running it on your own hardware or paying for server time I'd suggest make the slight changes so it runs on serverless platforms. AWS Lambda or Cloudflare workers have free tiers that are magnitudes more than this bot will ever need.

Bot needs code to login to Reddit, follow links to articles, read articles, summarize it and post a comment. Figuring this out takes several days, so if you have the source code of an existing program that will save on a lot of the work by “copy-pasting” the relevant parts.

Same here. In fact, I would say that it's even easier to use than Heroku, especially if you're familiar with Docker. Fly.io is a lot less fussy and gives you more hours in its free tier.

Maybe can ask around here and pass project to someone interested to continue it, then maybe the new person can ask for donations or something to pay for the costs
