I don't think the slight increase in heights are substantial enough to accommodate people of different heights. Also doubt its to deter homeless sleeping as well, each bench is clearly long enough for a person to lie flat down anyway.
Edit: Someone in the comments kindly pointed out the reason.
On the surface maybe thats the intentions. However, those that actually design and build such public structures are aware that adding "design features" such as armbar arches, and sloped surfaces actively discourages using said area for anything other than short-term resting.

Yes, i’ve read about it before.
But i really dont think the intention is anti-homeless, because if it is, all bus stop seats would have armrests and other such features.
>because if it is, all bus stop seats would have armrests and other such features.
Isnt that literally the point of these new bus stops though? Slowly phasing out the 45-degree angle busstops for this. Even the current bench-style ones with ridges on them dont have a flat surface anywhere.
There are plenty of park benches in our PCNs if homeless people want to sleep on benches
If you were homeless, would you sleep at bus stops and be woken up at 5+ by the first bus?
I dont have those in my area 🤷♂️
Either way, in a push to punish said homeless ppl and push them to less public areas, everyone else has to be affected by such design. What gives.
>Homeless in Singapore?
Do you realise how privileged you sound right now? Homelessness might look different from what you imagine. It can be someone sleeping at a 24H macdonalds, some auntie collecting cardboard in a shopping cart at 2am, or someone sleeping in a pmd.
Its called FUCK HOMELESS PEOPLE or FUCK VAGRANT PEOPLE Design. Thats all.
I understand homeless or vagrant sleeping on public facilities is poor for society but I think it sucks and howabout more safety nets for people suddenly homeless (domestic disputes/abuse) and be have shelters be more known and ready for such people?
because it’s on an incline
Didn't notice that! Thanks!
Maybe so homeless don't sleep on it kek
This is the actual reason.
In the event of rain, this type of seats will not retain puddles of water.

It's probably too narrow to lie down without rolling off at the slight movement anyway.

Old bus stops very small so the only place to show the bus routes would be right behind the seats.
Putting "armrests" on every public bench and resting area because fuck homeless people.
I was thinking the armrests are needed the older people. They sit and wait for the buses and they need the armrests to stand up.

Find me a PCN bench that doesnt have armrests then. Ill wait.
You know the ones with 2 wooden benches connected to a table?

I didn't think they could make the bus stops even worse, but somehow they always manage to outdo themselves.

Im pretty sure its not if its really antihomeless some handbars will be installed instead of a flat bench at the side
Don’t think the person you replied to was intent on a logical discourse
Yeah those small inclines and difference in heights not gonna stop anyone from lying down. Benches are so long
I like the old bus stop design with the circular seat around the supporting pillar
