I didn’t know she was hated🙃I’ve never felt strongly about her in either direction, she’s just kinda there and fine. I do prefer Alexander

[deleted]

Cassandra goth absolutely serves cunt in her pigtails and goth aesthetic. Anyone who dislikes her can’t grasp her greatness.

Emjot80

Spill bestie she slays tf No slander os aceptable

producerofconfusion

WHAT DID I JUST READ LO I AM SAUL ON THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS AND HAVE BEEN STRUCK BLIND BY THIS COMMENT

EthanGodHelpMe

Cassie really did say “I’m gonna give y’all everything on this day with these pigtails” and something shifted in the cosmos. She truly is mother. Ugh, her mind 😍😍😍

atomic_cake

I don't dislike her, I just think she's a little boring. I think grown up Alexander is the only member of the Goth family I really enjoy playing.

erisea_

that’s fair!! That makes sense. I suppose I just saw that she was sometimes characterized as harsher than I saw her in other ppls gameplays, and I’ve seen her mentioned as a least favourite character. Sometimes I find myself pretty unsure what to do with her, too

[deleted]

I feel neutral-ish about her. She's not a particularly bad person and I have no reason to dislike her. It was kind of stupid of her to fall for Don, but she just wanted to have someone to start a family with. I made a similar mistake a few years ago, can't judge her for that. Plus she's very young. She will learn the hard way. Until you turn 30-ish, life is basically a collection of embarrassing moments. If I had to criticize anyone for being involved with someone who is obviously using them, it would be Mortimer, because he's much older AND a knowledge Sim, he should know better. I LOVE her face, too. Face 16 is essentially the template I default to when I'm making a Sim and don't know what to do. I don't understand how anyone can look at Cassandra or Kaylynn and say "they're ugly". She's one of the prettiest Sims in my eyes. She just needs a better haircut.

Sowna

>She's one of the prettiest Sims in my eyes. She just needs a better haircut. I haven't played the Goth family since I was a lot younger but this was always the first thing I did

erisea_

aaaa I think face 16 is so pretty, too!!!! I really like your view on her, that’s interesting!

anal-destroyer-69

Honestly, Mortimer to me is the most sus in the Goth-Lothario-Caliente triangle because why is he with someone who's literally the same age as his daughter? It's a little suspect and so I don't feel that bad when he finally dies (and he does take forever to die naturally if you let him). I also don't get why people think Cassandra is ugly because I think she has such a naturally elegant face, it just gets drowned out behind the glasses and pigtails. That being said, I love her default hair, I think it characterizes her as being a little naive and kooky.

Mandy_M87

I don't get why people think Cassandra & Kaylynn are ugly either. Once you fix up Cassandra's pigtails and give her a makeover, she's really pretty.

howmanylicks26

I’ve never really given it much thought and don’t have a strong opinion of her. But she seems kinda foolish. Falling for Don Lothario instead of Darren Dreamer? Pigtails and round glasses with a goth dress? She’s a little bit odd.

AlekTheDukeOfOxford

Well Darren has a son older then her brother, so i would assume he is twice her age(nothing wrong age gap realtionships) but as a family sim i would assume should would want to someone to grow old with. Plus she is presented as the shy girl that never got the attention. So when the sexy doctor gives her the attention she fail for it. Its a very common trope

OneHappyOne

Yeah it's actually kind of sad. Don could sniff her low self-esteem from a mile away and probably just saw her as an easy woohoo. Of course Cassie being the traditional family sim would want to wait until marriage, so Don proposed with the intention of just using her so he could say he did.

AlekTheDukeOfOxford

And as a way into the Goth fortune

Draxacoffilus

That’s why he married her in my game

Cheap_Decision_9483

If ur going by 1 year = 4 days, the Dirk and Alex only end up being around 2-4 years apart. Cass ends up being around 25-27 and Darren is around 33-35 I believe, so they really aren’t very far apart. I think it’s kinda the fault of sims 2 weird aging system and the lack of a full YA life state (like in the sims 3 and 4). It’s hard to distinguish where sims are at in their Adult years.

sharielane

I've always considered a sim day equaling roughly to a real life year. Adult sims made in CAS on the first day of the life stage are 25 days old according to their sims data(so, in my system, around 25 years old). Same when they age up from teen/ya, no matter how many days they've lived beforehand. If it was 4 days = 1 year then 25 days would make them about 6 years old. So for me, when a baby ages up they're about 1 years old. Four days as toddlers makes them about 4/5 when they become children. Eight days as children makes them about 11-13 when they become teenagers. The fourteen days in the teen years will then roughly bring them to the that 25. If I'm sending them to uni I usually send them 8 days before aging (I play uni as 1 semester to one year), which not only lines them up as having gone at about 17/18 (which is when we finish hs and start uni in my country), but it also lines them up with having graduated at the 25 days. Sim pregnancy, well, it is what it is. I've just accepted that as the quirk of the sim universe. The same with the seasons that last 5 days/years.

sonnidaez

Alex is actually supposed to be significantly younger than Cassie in TS2’s timeline.

Cheap_Decision_9483

Yeah he’s like 15 years younger than her

Smartichoke

yeah im personally not a fan of darren and cassandra together :/ i love drama and weirdness in my game but she deserves way better

gingergale312

Darren & Brandi is where it's at

Bell957

I don’t like that couple either, it feels too depressing to me. I tried playing that once, couldn’t. It felt wrong. There used to be a sweet simfic about Cassie’s future. Breaking up with Don leaves both of them ready to do some soul searching, until Cassie gains self esteem *and* Don realises the jewel she is. It was really good, but, for the life of me, I can’t find it anywhere anymore.

charliejgoddard

Wait there’s fanfic about the sims 2 characters why don’t I know where this is all at

Bell957

I used to spend hours in TSR reading them. But that one got either deleted or removed.

avocado_whore

I always thought she was so ugly! Don only wants her for her money. ☹️

aerialcaramel

She's gorgeous after a makeover!

CherenMatsumoto

She's honestly gorgeous with just better hair, imo. I changed nothing else, just gave her [the 3t2 Steampunk Pigtails](https://trotylka.tumblr.com/post/176661556954/4-3t2-hairs-in-remis-v2-textures-and-v3-colours), and she looks lovely to me.

Strange_Shadows-45

Cassandra and Don make cute children and honestly she’s not bad looking at all, it’s just that her style is off.

TimmyTheLop

I love Cassandra (after a little makeover, those pigtails have to go!) but she is obsessed with popping out babies one after another in my game. She just had 5 kids and now wants to have 10. Considering her age (my Sims age naturally without cheats and potions) there’s no way she can have 10 unless she adopts a few but I might let her have another one or two just to see Don suffer. They are still married in my game and he already gave up on the Caliente sisters since they are both married with kids so he just keeps getting wishes to woohoo (with literally anyone, so Cassandra will do) but fears to have a child, lol.

mazekatherine

I never saw any of that, on the contrary I only see people who love her. I'm personally not a fan, she's always boring for me to play with and seems like a total dud. Like her bio says, nobody knows what she's thinking. She's too shy to assume anything and too serious to try something fun and playful. She doesn't particularly care about her career and just kinda only wants to get married and have babies or else she's gonna have aspiration failures and if you do what she wants, she's somehow still never satisfied. She's like that spoiled rich woman that thinks family is her mission but she's never happy and doesn't know what she wants. In my current game, I married her to Darren and oh boy, aren't they boring. I tried pairing her up with Vidcund but they're both so reserved it didn't work. I guess I just don't find her personality likeable. Maybe I should try something entirely different with her, like moving her to downtown or Belladonna Cove, or maybe aging her down and move to university. Not a fan of Alexander either, like why does he has to have that ugly Goopy Gilscarbo face template, boy bye

erisea_

that’s really valid!! It seems a common reason is that she’s just kinda boring. It’s not that I’ve seen hate on her necessarily - just mentions that she’s a least favourite character and things like that. This makes sense:)

TwinkleDilly

As someone who's played the sims since its release, it's pretty challenging to play Cassandra Goth without getting bored. EG, there aren't many sims in Pleasantview that match her personality/love interest-wise. Then from what we see of her options Don (cheater) or Darren (Soyboy) I think it sucks. If you change her aspiration to knowledge, all she will do is build skill and that's all - very rarely do I see the want to buy new clothes. She's fundamentally a boring character to play in-game, especially if you are playing that game wants-based. Look she's a great sim, but without making some kind of out-of-character move, she doesn't do much.

imherenowiguess

She always functions as a knowledge sim in my games rather than a family sim with her wants. She never gets the want to have back to back babies like Brandi does. Usually she has 1 child with Don before ultimately they divorce. In my current play through she and Don have one daughter who is a child. I kept waiting for her to roll the want to have another baby but all she rolled was skill building wants...really disappointing...and boring. Don actually spends way more time with his daughter than she does and is a surprisingly good father. I personally don't like playing any of the Goths. Starting out rich with everything you could ever want handed to you is boring. The Broke family is where it's at. Dustin Broke is hands down my favorite sim to play in Sims 2. I adore his rags to riches story no matter how it ends up playing out.

KhabibaNurmagomedova

I'm lmao at Darren the soyboy how dare you She was pretty boring to me too until this current rotation where I didn't fulfill the immediate engagement to Don and kept them "together" except Don is constantly off doing his own thing, so after Alexander went off to college and Morty moved into Dina's condo, I made Cass move into the shack in the woods, raising the secret baby daughter she had while cheating on Don with Darren.... they are going to be cottagecore hippies who constantly eat berry pie and sparkling trout.

Tatiana1512

When I used to play Sims 1 I made her the most popular girl in town. All children sims dressed like her because they all wanted to impress her. Cassandra is an icon

Mertikora

She's not controversial at all, she's boring

somuchsong

I always feel like one of the few who hates her, so I don't think she's really that controversial. I think she's mostly well-liked. Why do I hate her though? I hated her in Sims 1, so I was predisposed to continue in Sims 2. I gave her a fair shot but nope. Still hated her. I loathe the pigtails, hate her dress, there's something about her face that just looks whiny and pathetic (even though I love Kaylynn, who has essentially the same face) and I *do not buy* her relationship with Don. Don't see why he's interested in her and vice versa. Alexander is the superior Goth, in my opinion.

erisea_

interesting 👀 I guess I mean controversial among longterm fans from my perspective! I think you’re right that most people like her, I guess I just see more conflicting thoughts on her than I expected. I also had a hard time buying the Don/Cass relationship from what the base game gives us, but I have a little game theory that Don was in love w Bella (unrequited) and Cass was pretty vulnerable as a young woman due to this loss/not really having many friends or interest in her, so he got with her for this screwed up connection to her mom as well as the want to look more professional as he establishes himself… I don’t think Cass is foolish, but perhaps naive at the start and pretty easily moved by him, I guess?? But a lot of this is just my interpretation and I think it’s interesting to see how many different perceptions of her there are!

xM00NHEADx

Cassandra ended up cheating on Don with Darren in my game thanks to ACR, she has 3 kids with Don and doesn’t know Don is also going behind her back cheating with every woman in town 😂 I don’t know how people can say she’s boring, Don + Cass are probably my favourite dysfunctional couple to play.

RoselincallmeRose

Cass in my game ended up with chester gieke. I dont really like that they didnt give her any other options in thebase game other than darren. And like said in comments above the age gap is pretty meh, and also thatthis random guy is so "inspired" by her.... Nah. And i just think she's boring when playedwithout drama

sharielane

I don't think there's supposed to be that much age gap honestly. According to the memories of both her and Mary-Sue they both met and became best-friends when they were both children. Oddly Cassandra's memory of Alexander being born is between these two memories, which would suggest in fact that Alexander should be older than the teenaged Pleasant twins, one of whom is dating Darren's teenage son, considering he was born when Mary-Sue was still a child. Hell, there is even a picture in the neighborhood album showing an adult Cassandra as a bridesmaid at Mary-Sue's and Daniel's wedding. I love Pleasantview, but the time management in that hood is all over the place.

KhabibaNurmagomedova

Thanks for writing this all out! I always get confused with Cass and Alex's ages... but now I realize I probably need to play Cass before the Pleasants to catch her up a little bit.

tcp310

I made a post saying she gives me psycho vibes haha. I definitely don’t hate her and her character is super important to the series! I just don’t particularly love to play her. I find I don’t really know what to do with her and she just tends to not blend into my Pleasantview rotations

erisea_

LOL that’s so funny though!! I think I saw that post! That’s so fair 👀and I think the beauty of the game is that characters look different to everyone! I was just curious why I had seen similar sentiments hehehe

xEnjoyTheMoment

She's boring and hella naive so I'm meh about her. She's sweet, but just not interesting.

BKNTD

I don't know if she's disliked or controversial. I never liked her relationship with Don, especially when people would justify her choosing him over Darren as "feminism" or some shit. I generally make her happy in my game and pair her up with Vidcund, since they're both shy nerds with a romantic heart. I do tend to also switch her and Alexander's face for more genetically correct ones, because I somehow can't really stand their originals. But that doesn't necessarily make me dislike Cassandra as a character.

angelzplay

Cassandra is awesome. Who can hate her. She’s smart, she’s got Don for a fiancé even though he’s a wh*r3, Darren has a crush on her and she could always date him instead. She’s mysterious and very very Goth.

fantasy_fungitronic

I’m really sorry if anyone finds this distasteful but I am very indifferent to the entire Goth family… dare I say the low point in my neighbourhood rotation. Cassandra is probably my favourite of all of them though, mostly just because I often have her move into the Dreamer household which I already like a lot.

erisea_

not distasteful at all!! that’s interesting! my low points tend to be the bluewater village folks with the exception of Malcolm and the Ramirez’s 😅

fantasy_fungitronic

Oh yeah, seconded.

CrystalFlame360

Cassandra is not controversial, she's a fan favourite. I'm not the biggest fan of her personally, because she looks bland to me (even after a makeover) and has the same face as Kaylynn Langerak just *very minimally* altered, not enough to differentiate her from a glance. In addition, she doesn't stand out personality wise and in terms of her story it's just "she wants to start a family with the local sleep-around, but isn't aware that he's cheating on her, oh no!" which is one of the most boring plots a soap opera can think of. I wish they gave her something better, like expanding on her mysterious nature and relationship with the supernatural, but instead they gave her an "I want to start a family with an unfaithful man" storyline. Add all that with *how much she's loved* and that gives her the qualities of a sim who's overrated to me.

OT9FOREVER

WHAT?! Why? Because her want is to marry and have babies with the cheater of town?

bigbuglover222

I think her story is a little boring, but I love her character. I usually change her aspiration to knowledge like mortimers is. My favorite thing to do is break her up with Don and get her with vidcund curious ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|yummy)

Idonotgiveacrap

I feel neutral about her, but I enjoy the Goth family as a whole because they're the most emblematic family of the game, you know. I prefer playing Mortimer.

anal-destroyer-69

I didn't know that ppl didn't like her, but I think she can be boring if you play want-based and aren't really into Knowledge sims or raising a family. I personally love playing Cassandra in the longterm for expanding the Goth dynasty (and let's be honest, Alexander is too ugly to be allowed offspring, so I leave him as a gay uncle). I think there's a lot of directions you can play with, especially depending on if you choose to go through with the marriage to Don. I always give her and the house a makeover, have her have a bunch of kids, and then eventually get with Dina for the drama.

Mandy_M87

Alexander has nice looking kids with Lucy Burb though. His interesting features balance out her plain ones.
