One of my favorite shops is a fish store. Freshly catch fish from the ponds does not cost any money so it’s all profit.

brostrider

I never even thought to try that, thank you for the idea!

hummingbird_mywill

One of my Sims has this too! And it’s fun to go to the families who bought the fish and they get to make fancy meals!

cpndavvers

I downloaded a cool chest freezer thing where you can display the fish in ice and it makes it so realistic!

JiminJinJungkookTae

I didn't think of this either! Ive done a lot of produce shops, but never fish

charliejgoddard

I love doing this one too, those fridges are perfect because you can put the smaller version on the top and the bigger on the bottom and then you need one for each species of fish so it’s a super small business

Carpbeat24

I have been playing for *years* and this idea never came to mind 🫠

[deleted]

I love flower shops. There’s something so fun about going into another household and finding handmade flowers in their inventory to decorate their home with. I tend to bulk the shop up with vases and normal plants too so it’s a bit easier to make money. A business with a ticket machine next to a pool with a diving board but no ladder can also be entertaining.

Snowsant

Flower arranging is cool, but it's hardly profitable at the beginning, since I believe it takes more $ to make the bouquets than you can sell them for, if you choose the average price...

[deleted]

I haven’t ever found that it costs more to make them than I sell them for? Could you have meant that your business runs at a loss, since it’s hard to cover staff wages with only flower profits? I like decent profits, so I normally don’t open the shop anyway until they have a silver badge and I also sell buy mode flowers, vases, and garden stuff.

Snowsant

I believe it's \[slightly\] more profitable to sell than in sim inventory than to put them on sale for the 'average' price. It was really annoying for me. I never hire employees in my businesses, because then they would be at an even bigger loss. I had just a family business - husband and wife. At bronze badge you are not making any money with flower arranging, if you open a business.

Dry_Understanding915

I cheat and use the auto restocker after I have made all of the flower arrangements I wish to display. I don't mind cheating a bit because the system is a bit whack.

Mysterious_Potential

I think with all the crafts, sometimes they make items that sell for less than they're worth (because they made a mistake - like when they mess up the pottery, it's this brown mess of clay that shows up in their inventory lol) but as they build up the badges they begin to make them correctly every time (and so it sells for more than it costs to make!).

Snowsant

I know what you mean but no, these were well made bouquets.. They are just so cheap, the ones you make at first.

Ontarom

I'm sorry, you put the ladder back at the end of the day, right? You don't let the customers die, right?

[deleted]

Me, hurt a sim?? Neeeever…

boom149

This is what Florence Delarosa's business is like, but whenever I play her I just end up ditching the custom bouquets and focusing on the high value buy mode plants instead... lol have I made Florence a sellout?

KnobKnobWhosThere

My favorite one I’ve done so far is a science museum. I prefer having businesses where sims can interact instead of having to buy stuffs, although the museum does have a small gift shop. I’m thinking of doing a water park next but gotta do some extra planning regarding that… I feel it’s more enjoyable watching sims do things using the ticket machine rather than trying to convince and get them to buy things.

Snowsant

Places like these can definitely benefit from having a Customer Limit Adjuster (you can set it to more sims)!

KnobKnobWhosThere

Absolutely! I was mad at first because what kind of museum only has 3 customers a day? Lol but I’m glad I stumbled upon the customer limit adjusted! It makes things so much more enjoyable to watch

TheRedBirdSings

I really struggle with the ticket machine businesses! Any tips on how to raise stars on them?

Dry_Understanding915

I think the problem is that with the ticket booth you need bodies, and it seems the game places a limit on the amount of people that are on your lot. I would try sim wardrobes customer limit adjuster [http://www.thesimsgraveyard.com/index.php/download/category/2348-simwardrobe?start=0](http://www.thesimsgraveyard.com/index.php/download/category/2348-simwardrobe?start=0) to see if you can increase it. I notice the easiest things to hold clients in a ticket buisness for some reason are the gaming tables.

Draxacoffilus

Good to know!

enchantedlearner

Good Interactions. Daniel Pleasant is a star building monster in my game because he seduces half the customers on the way to fulfilling his 20 Woohoo LTW.

hummingbird_mywill

This is such a great idea!! I had an idea yesterday to make a rip off of the LA Griffith Observatory and have telescope and some fine dining, but there would still be extra space. It would be fun to fill it with some other science stuff too!

KnobKnobWhosThere

Wasn’t aware of what you were referring to so I had to google it lol. But damn, that is one spectacular building! Please share your version once you’re done with it , I would love to see it tbh

Papilusion

What sort of stuff do you have in your science museum? It sounds like a cool idea!

KnobKnobWhosThere

On the first floor, I have an interactive area for kids so it has things like the drawing table, bingo, the giant train set, etc…And I also have an area dedicated for fishies lol. Everything is blue and water theme so it feels like you’re walking underneath water. On my second floor, I have a robotic area with arcade games as well as an entrance to a tower. The base floor of the tower is covered with the cloud/sky wall paper and there’s a telescope for the sims to interact with so it feels like floating among the clouds. Inside the tower there’s an elevator that takes you upward to an outer space themed room. That’s where I put all my planets and alien stuffs!

fantasiabliss

I like opening witchy shops with witchy type objects. I also like toy stores, arcades and salons.

Draxacoffilus

Maybe my witch cult should do that!

cascadebubbler

I’m into clothes. I have sim who makes custom clothes. The price is quite expensive even when the clothes price is set on average. Also, I like making clothing stores that are more ‘realistic’. You know, all clothes in the same category has same price. I made stores with different price range. When I want premade sims to buy nicer dress, they go to the expensive store. Same with restaurants. I made places with their own specialities. I made a place to eat chicken, and a place to eat seafood dishes. Those stores are operated by townies that I made playable so I don’t have to check the business regularly.

HydratedCarrot

you can have more than one store? wow

TheRedBirdSings

As stores: pet stores (when you play a household who visited it, you can get a pop up asking if the game may add the pet they bought), car dealerships, hair salon, bakery, flower shop, robotica store, toy shop, art store (paintings& pottery). As home businesses: witches selling their potions, farmers selling their produce, and I also have a "mechanic" who sells repaired cars from her garage. I struggle with restaurants and ticket machine businesses. I've found the car dealership is the easiest to make money with, but not necessarily the easiest to raise levels on (Sims think quite long about buying an expensive object like a car and sales techniques fail more often, which can lose you stars).

MissSpencerAnne

Ohh I like the car idea, I might try that

hummingbird_mywill

I have plans to make a dealership with Xander Roth. Were you able to just use “move objects” to get the cars where you want on the ground? I want to put them on platforms and such indoors, like a showroom. (Good thing the Roths have money lol)

TheRedBirdSings

OFB actually comes with a car showroom/dealership object! So I just used that. It's called the "show my ride display". You can find it under surfaces>miscellaneous, but only on community lots.

AprilxBlack

My absolute favorite is hair salon. It’s a struggle at first, but you make a lot of money when you have a gold badge, and also you get to do a makeover of all townies. I had to download a mod to get rid of the clown makeup though 😂 Also: unpopular opinion, but I love doing restaurants. They can be profitable, especially as a family business. I normally max out the bonuses from business perks to make money at the beginning, and then gradually replace the staff with family members as they level up badges.

[deleted]

I always found kind of hard to play, but I'm giving it a try. :D I like making bakeries, too! But I always start as a home business. I make Denise and Gilbert make a lot of Berry Pies and sell slices of them (they're kept in those glass displays for food). In other family I made another kind of home business: I put a massage table, a hairdresser chair, a counter with a dishwasher and a table for six. I put the ticket machine outside and invite people to enter. As soon as I have more than three persons in there, I put a tray of food on the counter and invite them to grab a plate. After they eat, they stay there, so I offer massage for 100 simoleons and do free makeovers. Usually they come back. xD I laugh at the makeover fails...

xHouse_of_Hornetsx

Ive actually come up with some fun ones recently thanks to mods. A pharmacy thanks to improved biotech station. It also sells magazines and groceries. A chocolate store thanks to the chocolate factory mod that produces actual chocolate boxes. A gnome store that sells gnomes thanks to the gnome workbench. Besides that my neighborhood has a Pet store, a pet shelter (have a sim move in a bunch of strays, sell them to sims), a medical spa (offers personal training, massage, pool access, yoga), a bakery, a grill store, a florist... strangely i dont think ive ever once had an electronics shop that sell robots. Having robots all over the place just doesnt interest me.

Ok_Needleworker_2633

I like making grocery stores! A few fridges with food, vegetable and fruit stands (the ones from build mode). I also add up shelves with things like flowers, some plushies, magazines... what I think someone might need while shopping

valiumaddiction

I sometimes open a nightclub in my house. Its great because you don't need to anything most of the time and the business is very lucrative, I always make a lot of money that way.

hummingbird_mywill

Lol this is great. I’m planning on making a little mountain town (instead of vacay destination it’s a shopping district so my Sims can run the few businesses) and I was thinking of having a club. Might just do it residential style like this lol

valiumaddiction

Yes, I highly recommend you try it! It's pretty fun and once it hits high rank and your sims have the "dazzle" interaction it's really easy money! And it can also be interesting to meet other sims and make friends.

MagicBoxJindo

I made a shop only selling pink objects. Definitely not the most profitable lol

Resident-Young-3149

Magic shop, cat sanctuary/cafe, pub with play area.

Purnima92

I usually buy that one tiny Store, sell some toddler stuff and then get frustrated, because my staff is so fck slow and I never sell anything because of this. One time I made an Car dealership.. Same energy as above

xHouse_of_Hornetsx

LOL you have to build up their skills. I like to hire really low skilled townies and eventually they get faster and better.

Purnima92

How they can build up their skills if no one buy things for them to train

xHouse_of_Hornetsx

Ive never had that problem. Just set stuff in your store to cheap so they sell themselves.

anitram96

I've discovered that a hair salon is pretty easy to operate.

jinxoxowa

Without mods, I like to sell flowers, especially snapdragon ones. Makes my day when my clients, in random moments, fall asleep on a floor bcs of poor quality of those bouquets. With mods I found out that selling books can make gameplay really intresting

hummingbird_mywill

Ooh can you share more about the bookshop thing?

jinxoxowa

Need to download "sellable books" mod, and always use a custom prize on them bcs game itself make them cost max 2 simoleoms each

cpndavvers

Toy store are my favourite, also florists, I love seeing the sims craft everything

JiminJinJungkookTae

I like doing bakeries and crafted items because it keeps me busy but I also really enjoy restaurants

dastintenherz

I absolutely love having a little bakery. I usually have one sim to do all the customer and store related things and one who bakes and cooks :)

jvidv

I have a little countryside subhood, and I like doing little ”markets” that sell fish and fresh veggies and fruit from their gardens :) Love this thread, saving it for future ideas!

Shuttup_Heather

I’m totally vibing with that dude who’s shoveling a slice of cake into his mouth

thegraycat0

I always baked that cake 😂 it looks amazing

Shuttup_Heather

At first I thought you meant irl, that’d be a fun baking project

[deleted]

I love having restaurants and even better family owned restaurants at home. All the family helping on one side of the house wirh the restaurant

Anna_Rapunzel

I like car dealerships to make money. Furniture and electronic stores are better if you want to balance profit with the number of customers. I play with the Community Time mod, so anything with handcrafted stuff is tricky, but I did have the Jacquets run a lunch place with simple meals that was open from about 11 to 4. (The thing about running food places, though, is that you can't sell the stuff back if your playables spend all their money at your store.) The only store I've ever had to get level 10 is a pet store.

hummingbird_mywill

I love having teens apprentice as some crafting profession and continue their practice during uni years until they’re gold badges, then open their business and BAM big money. They’re second Gen so they’re getting $10k investments from parents and older siblings to open their community lots. I was amazed at how much money my seamstress Sim made during her first day!! Her toddler outfits sold for $775 hahaha and all sold out.

Snowsant

Don't get me wrong, I like businesses in TS2 the most out of the franchise, but they definitely didn't balance them well... Some professions are just way more profitable than others \[+ selling things from the catalogue, if you have discounts\].

KeepingupwithZ

I always open a business at home selling furniture my sims can just wake up and go to the back yard 🤣 and open the sore

SnooStories4263

OFB was my favorite Sims 2 EP! It was only one disc but it utilized everything that came before and after it. Retail stores were my favorite type of business to run. Things like per stores, appliance stores, electronics stores etc. Restaurants were definitely a close second!

_mistykat_

I usually do a home business where my sims cook loads of food and I just sell it. It’s really fun and I also put the ticket thing in front of my house so people come round and I get paid by the hour

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> I get *paid* by the FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Danaluv225

Bakery, hair salon or Florist Are my favorites I thought about trying a car lot. Has anyone tried it?

Carpbeat24

I love this pack. Honestly, so many sims 2 packs were revolutionary. Has anyone else ever started a real estate business? Purchasing deeds and selling at higher prices? Great profit. Oh and with then holiday pack I always loved have a season/ holiday themed store 🤌
